This is the place for the writers to discuss potential plot ideas for the RPG. Please keep in mind that these are only suggestions of the players and that a majority of the players must agree to an idea before it goes into effect. If it is a plot that directly involves a character, then the player of that character can decide if it's what they want to happen. Please keep things civil and be respectful of ideas your fellow players may come up with. Remember, this is a fun, stress-free place. Keep things on the topic of plots in this thread so that players don't have to weed through off topic posts. If you have a plot idea that you think will need a lot of discussion, you may create a new thread in the RPG Out of Character Discussions board.

Hi all! Excited to get started! From what point is everyone wanting to start? Take it from the beginning or farther in? If from before the tailies joined the camp, do we want to tweak some details since we only have one tailie so far? How much of the actual plot should we try to follow and which major events should be sure to include?
If I remember correctly, I think we were making it so that a week of our time is a day on the island. Was that formula working for everyone?

Well, the options could be thus:
1. Start from the beginning but do things our own way. For example, Boone doesn't need to die or even have become a follower of Locke. The history of the island and facts of the Lost!Verse are the same; Widmore was still exiled, Jacob still made his deal with Richard etc...but events move in a different direction. 2. After the events of the series, although this would mean most people would be very dead.
I was also wondering if you could also have a subforum for Purgatory? Starting from 815 landing in LAX, maybe?
Also, I think the day-as-a-week thing could mean we'll never make much progression. Instead of location threads, we could have 'event threads'. Say if Kate and Jack were having a one-on-one session of sweaty, tree-splinters-in-the-back jungle sex, it would be labelled as such. And if Kate and Jack wanted another seperate session, but it involved Jessica Alba for some reason, it would be labelled as such. Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd scene.
Am I making even the slightest sense?

Lmao! I almost choked on my Pepsi. Damn, I've missed you! Makes total sense (the event thread, not the random Jessica Alba appearance just for threesome's sake ). I think that's a good idea to have the event threads but probably have location threads as well when our characters aren't in a major enough event? For example, if our character is going to be going on an important event, they'd announce their exit at the location like ***Kate exits to Event - F3 - Jungle Outskirts - Sweaty, Tree-Splinters-in-the-Back Jungle Sex*** You're probably right about the day-a-week thing. We had over 25,000 posts on the old Lost RPG and we had only gotten to Day 6! How does two days in a week sound? I could change it to the next day on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. However, if everyone is ready to move on to the next day before that time frame, we could always move it ahead earlier but have a basic rule to try and wrap up a day of island time within three or four days of real time. Sure, I could create a sub-board for Purgatory. As far as flashbacks, should we keep those with the character bios like we did the last time? Probably would be best since flashbacks don't usually involve other characters (unless they wander by in the background, etc.). I actually liked how we did that. We'd have our character sitting on the beach or whatever and lost in thought and then we'd so something like ***Flashback*** and include a link to the post in the character's bio.

1. Would be kind of neat to do after Two for the Road to be honest with you, something different. I could have knocked the gun out of Michael's hand, we all could have been captured. Boone could survive and Shannon could just be really wounded, people would be pissed but at least have some hope. Would be nice to kick Kate's ass or something, haha!
2. Definitely different flash backs would be cool with all the different characters. For instance, Sawyer ran into the door when Ana was with Christian, which was hilarious lol.
3. And we can get rescued, see what their lives are like then. How they all live on, what happens and how they deal with it. It'd be pretty sweet! Libby should live too so that Hurley can live happy ever after. He deserves it.

Yeah, I don't think we need to stick to the script as closely as we did before. It took way too long to get any forward movement. That said, I have no suggestions of a better way to handle things. Think I'm just gonna' have to go with the flow on this one since we have several seasons' worth of canon to deal with.

Ana - I think since we're going to have some OOCs, most people would want to start from the beginning so that people can get their OOC established into the community and maybe leave out cannon characters that nobody wants to play from the beginning. Instead of the tailies taking so long to get to the other survivors, they could have crash landed closer or Ana Lucia could have gone out on her own to find people and come across Goodwin thinking he's another survivor so that you can still have the Ana Lucia/Goodwin scene. If you ever want to have a scene with a character that doesn't have a player, just let us know in the OOC area and someone will help out. Kristi - I agree. If we don't have players for a character that was supposed to go on the hike, for example, we'll have someone else go or just have one less person.

Liking the idea of us doing it our own way. Going to have to be honest and say I didn't watch all of the series. Life caught up with me and I lost time to fit it in. For those like me, I think it's best to go from the start and do it how we find easiest to keep it running smoothly.

Gah! I keep forgetting to ask this and I've remembered like five times while away from the computer. What year should it be? Should we keep the crash date at September 22, 2004 or should we move it up to maybe 2011? I'm fine with either way but I think I'm probably rusty on my 2004 pop culture and current events which is the only reason I wondered about a year change. If we go with 2004, like I said, totally fine by me but if someone happens to make some mention of a song, movie, show, or newsworthy event that hasn't happened yet, should we make mention of it in the OOC board so someone can tweak their post or just let it go? I think I may be over-thinking, over-worrying, over-everything this, lol! I believe we're ready to start soon so everyone please start posting on the Request a New Gaming Location Here thread and let me know what locations you need! Please look at the grid that I had posted because I need the grid letter & number. For example, F3 - Jungle Outskirts or if you need an Event (good idea by Oppy) let me know. I think first starting out, we're dealing with just crashing. Ana, let me know if you need a section away from the main group or if you want Ana Lucia to have been with the main survivors.

Fuselage works, haha! Why not? Good change for her. And it's up to you guys about 2004. Just don't mention like Lady GaGa or something LOL. Titanic 3D. But it's pretty easy if you look up references for 2004, 2011 works too though if you want to. Whatever works.

I'm fine with whatever. We just have to remember not to whip out our iPads or smart phone on the island cuz those weren't around yet. Crazy how times have changed since we last RP'd for Lost! Everyone, let us know if you wanna stick with 2004 or update to 2011. Also, shall we start still in the plane with the turbulence or after the crash?

I think it would be easier for 2011 and I'd say have a thread for being on the plane and a thread for on the island so people can do their post on the plane and then on the island instead of having to wait around for everyone else?

Okay, I'm gonna make a couple of polls and we'll see what the majority would like to do for the year and on plane or on island at the start. I'll close the poll sometime tonight still so that I can start creating the location threads and we should be able to start hopefully tonight still!

Question, in this RPG i'm going to have Jinx's Fiance on the plane. He wanted to surprise her, so he bought a ticket in Economy class. I plan on killing him, should I make a Bio for him anyways, i'm gonna use Christina's ex-husband if its a must lol

You don't have to create a bio for him unless you want to. If you'd like to have him sitting next to me so that we'd end up chatting and he can talk about the surprise, that'd work out nicely cuz I was planning on having the random stranger I'm sitting next to end up dead so if we do that, everybody wins! Well, except for Jinx's ex... I'll PM you so we can collaborate.

Actually, that's what this OOC board is for. You can create threads to your heart's content.

Wasn't sure where to put this question so I'll just ask it here. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get Shannon from chatting with Claire to crying over the gate agent. I know she has to get to that point before the transceiver hike leaves. Should I just have Boone tell her? I mean, he learned there were no survivors in first class from Jack, so...

Boone could come by, rag on her for not helping, and she goes off in a huff only to find the dead fellow maybe?
Also, I was wondering: since we're deviating from canon while adhering to the rules of the show, could I have the Man in Black masquerade as Seth Norris' dead co-pilot? He scanned Seth, so he'd be able to impersonate him pretty perfectly as far as Seth knew him. Have him stumble out of nowhere, act all injured and disorientated like he got thrown from the plane.

I know I was already chatting with you on AIM about this and we both forgot for a moment that the co-pilot had fallen out of the cockpit when Jack broke the door open. Duh on both our parts! But if you're looking to have him take on the role of someone who was working on the plane that would know of their off-course situation or someone that knows Gwen, you could always have him take over the image of a male flight attendant. Or do they have a third guy as back-up in case something happens to one of the two pilots? I'm not sure how the whole thing works.

Status update on LOST: When do we want to insert the scene between Jack and the Marshal, where he finds out about Kate? And should anyone else know (since we don't have a Hurley)? I was thinking that it's going on now so when I go to get Jack's help, I'll see the Marshal seemingly going crazy hostile. I wasn't going to have me find out about Kate but we probably don't need anybody else knowing unless you think it'd be beneficial for your character to know. Personally, I don't think too many should know. Kinda takes away from the surprise later. The only people who found out right off were the type to keep mum about it. Didn't really want it to become kinda a cliche information blackmail thing someone holds over Kate. So yah, was gonna see the Marshal ranting & Jack occupied with calming him so I'll probably return sans Jack & empty handed. Is that okay or should I arrive right after the whole scene & bring Jack back to the shelter?

Since we're on Day 4 and the bodies are going to be burnt soon - and given that three days have passed - I think this is a good point for James to go and look for Jess. Needless to say he won't be finding her alive. I'd originally envisioned one of the other characters finding a personal object of hers just inside the jungle, perhaps while looking for water. If anyone wants to accompany him on his little search so he's not just talking to himself the whole time, please feel free

Well, Shannon is done with jungle hikes but Gwen could join him, since they talked earlier about looking for fresh water inland.
Is it weird that we haven't mentioned Locke at all? It was just on my mind since Day 5 is pretty much all him and the boar hunt.

It's definitely weird not having most of the key canon characters but anything they do that would catch the attention of a crowd, we'll post as a moderator-y thing. Like when Locke throws the knife near Sawyer's head and then does his speech about boars and shows off his rather unsettling knife collection. Yay for Gwen being available! If everyone else's character was otherwise occupied, I'd have figure a way to have one of my characters go along but Kate's got a lot of talky stuff with Jack and Sayid and I'm sick of seeing so much of myself when there are so many great characters we hardly see!

Hey all! I'm hanging out mostly around the fuselage, collecting firewood. If anybody wants to do a little chit chatting, feel free to approach me. I don't have anything big planned. Just some idle chit chat would be nice while I wait until I can push the time to late afternoon.
