*Henry enters from Granny's Diner*
Henry hoisted himself up the ladder and onto the main platform of his castle. He knew that the play castle was actually the town's and that anyone could use it. But in his entire life he had never seen another kid play there. Being the only one to use it gave Henry a sense of ownership over the castle, like it had been put there just for him. It was where he went to think when he wanted to get away from his mom for a while.
Henry settled in and let his legs dangle over the edge of the castle. High above the other buildings of town, he could see the clock tower- still stuck at 8:15. There had to be something he was missing.

***Emma enters***
EMMA
Emma had quietly sneaked out of the B&B. She didn't plan on staying long and preferred to avoid the curious stares of the locals. Apparently they didn't get many outsiders.
She buried her hands in her pockets as she approached the playground where she'd promised to meet Henry, eying the castle-like structure. No wonder he liked this spot. It fit in with his apparent fascination with fairy tales.
Emma pushed the swing with her foot as she passed it and continued walking around the structure, peaking around inside but Henry wasn't there yet. For a moment, she considered leaving but something held her back just as it had kept her from leaving last night. She couldn't help the curiosity that had overcome her. The motherly instinct buried within to know more about him and to assure he would be okay. The longer she stayed, the harder it would be to leave.
She came back around and sat in a swing, shifting the sand with her foot. Everything wasn't okay and that's what had really kept her from leaving. Even though all this evil queen and curse was nonsense, Henry was in danger as long as he believed it was true. Look at what his belief in this book had already pushed him to. He'd traveled by himself to find her and bring her here. He had a deep distrust of the only parent he had and at this moment, he was ditching school to meet with her. All because of this book.
Did his mind create all this as a defense mechanism against something traumatic or was it simply an overactive imagination?

*Entering from Granny's Diner*
Henry walked carefully towards his castle, juggling two hot chocolates with cinnamon to go. He never thought that his mom would leave the diner! He'd have to do a little more recon next time he decided to do work on Operation Cobra. As he approached the castle and the surrounding play area, he caught glimpse of a familiar mass of blonde hair and red leather. Emma! His stride pick up the pace, excited to make it over.
"You're here!" He offered her one of the styrofoam cups in his hand with a grin. "With cinnamon. Just the way you like it."

EMMA
Emma looked up at his approaching call.
"With cinnamon. Just the way you like it."
She smiled as she pulled her hands free from her pockets and took the styrofoam cup and wrapped both hands around it. She breathed it in, the aroma of chocolate and cinnamon mixing before she took a sip. "Mm, thanks, Henry." One more sip and she jumped right to the point. "So, what's the deal with you and your mom?"
This talk would be the final determination. She'd already decided to stay for the time being but this talk would determine if she would be planting more firm roots for an extended stay.

The clock, which has been stuck at 8:15 for as long as anyone can remember, began to move once again promptly at 8:15 p.m.
Several hours pass. It is now the morning after the clock has started.
A few may have noticed the clock moving last night and those close enough may have realized when it chimed the 9 p.m. hour. Others may have learned by word of mouth or not until they next arrived in town.
