Queen Regina's Kingdom - Forest Events occurring 4 years before Dark Curse

**Hook, his crew of pirates and the genie appear from another land, far away**
The Jolly Roger had landed in a shore not far from the forest of Queen Regina's kingdom. Near the forest there should be the place Hook was searching for so long. The place to get his revenge with the help of Genie. The castle, where the Dark One lived.
"Oy!", Genie shouted out in surprise, when they left the ship behind and continued through the forest by foot. "I'd packed my scout gear, if I would have known we pop up in a damn forest." Comments like that accompanied his new master and his crew since he joined the group of pirates, so they should be used to it by now, though it still could be exhausting sometimes. If someone was trapped in a lamp hundreds of years, dialog partners are very rare. So it has been only a matter of time before Hook had learned how to use the lamp and in further consequence how to silence a genie...

Killian
"Oy!", came the surprised shout, "I'd packed my scout gear, if I would have known we pop up in a damn forest." Having left the ship behind it seemed the captains large blue friend was not accustomed to his land legs anymore. Nothing surprised him anymore when it came to the Genie, nothing except that statement. "Finally after all these years that I've been trying to get you to loosen the proverbial collar mate, your starting to sound like one of us!" There was raucous laughter from the men and Hook uncorked his flask and took a swig. He then offered it to the newest member of the Jolly Roger, shoving the container into his hand.
He didn't even know how long past their natural lifespans they had gone but knowledge had proved only a piece of the puzzle so far. Killian could have used his last wish to be on the right track but a single stone on the trail and he could be face first in the dirt. No he had chosen to keep the Genie on. Truth was he had grown fond of him. They all had. They each showed it in their own way, not all the obvious sort.
Together they had to do a lot of digging just to find people who could keep giving them bits and pieces of this picture that was the Dark One. And it had finally led them here. A forest in the kingdom of someone named Queen Regina. The locals had a few other choice words to describe her but it mattered not. The crocodile had taken up residence somewhere in this forest. And the dagger would be close. But what was more important was who was going to get it for them. Yes, what the pirate captain had also gleaned was the beast had a weakness... And she was going to be very useful indeed...

"Finally after all these years that I've been trying to get you to loosen the proverbial collar mate, your starting to sound like one of us!"
"Oh really, buddy?", Genie turned around to the Captain with a crooked smile. "You mean like a human or a pirate?" And again he couldn't resist to make a show out of his words, playing a one-handed pirate with an eyepatch, theatrically swinging a saber. The men behind joined their conversation with raucous laughter. It was true. Travelling with his new master and his crew really made him feel like being one of them, though he never would be. Not as long as the fetters were adorning his hands and feet. Suddenly a thoughtful expression appeared in the Genie's face, who even didn't noticed the offered flask.

Killian
"A human and a pirate my friend, the very best kind!" His men all joined in a cheer. "Drink my friend," Hook bade his companion as the genie had yet to imbibe of the offered flask. It was true he could not command him to do anything beyond granting his last wish, but he had hoped by now they were rather past all that. "It won't be long before we have completed a quest beyond that of a life long pursuit. And then? We will be legends in our own time. And much much more." Who else could have kept this crew going for so long? No one. And their story was far from over.
Killian wished silently that he had a hundred more wishes because he owed each of these men a hundred fold of what they had received. But one way or another they would get their due. When the crocodile was dead. Maybe it was the rum but he wondered what would become of the genie too. He wondered if there was a way to keep him on. Even after his contract was fulfilled. Was it possible? Would it need to be the genie's decision? Could he make that call?
A scout came running back through the tree's to stop short of the party. "Captain, there is a castle beyond the edge of the forest not more than a mile from this here spot!" Hook smiled a wicked grin. "Do you hear that mates? Tick tock..."

No one would think twice of a wolf gallivanting among the thick of the forest. The animal figure tucked naturally in with the elements of nature, assuming the beast was simply doing as expected in the game of survival of the fittest. No one would question a mere animal such as this wolf - unless you were unfortunate to lock your gaze with it's glowing, beady eyes and become entranced by it's spell until the moment before your untimely death. Which is why Dracula preferred this disguised mode of travel, as he also found twisted entertainment in luring helpless morsels with his shape-shifting tricks. He was on the hunt for a mighty beast, one to have rumored to be wreaking havoc in a village that would grow to be close by within one more day's travel.
A few days had gone by since Dracula had fed, as there were no tavern people in the middle of a gigantic forest to tempt into his deadly grasp. The hungrier he got, the more ravenous he became. He simply could not help the fact that his sense of self control vanished in the presence of immense thirst. Potential victims resided only a day's travel away, however Dracula needed to feed fast before he began to lose himself completely. Bringing his snout to the ground, Dracula in wolf form began to sniff out any animals close by that he could quench his thirst with for the time being. Animals weren't his first choice, as their blood was never as divine as the blood that coarsed through living, human veins. Anything would do right about now.
Suddenly, his animalistic nostrils picked up a pleasant scent that made his mouth salivate on the spot. It was a familiar smell to him, as he had picked this scent up every now and again for the past few days he had been moving through the forest. Crawling into a pair of bushes nearby, his crimson eyes scanned the thick of the woods to finally find out who this sweet smelling scent belonged to. As he gazed through the leaves of the bush he crouched in, Dracula's gaze picked up a cloaked human. The human was armed, but it was a human nonetheless. He thought the circumstance was rather odd for a moment, a human this far into the forest all alone. Yet, his thirst grew the longer he waited to attack and decided to waste no more time.
His hunger sent him into a frenzy, triggering Dracula himself out of the stomach of the beast he had morphed into. Clawing his way out of the beast, Dracula's body twisted gruesomely until he emerged entirely into the world. The wolf on the ground remained nothing more than shreds as Dracula now stood upright and breathlessly panted, his razor sharp fangs on full display. His head slowly jerked over to bring the human back into plain sight as his darkened, bloodshot eyes set themselves on the target. Brushing the guts of the beast off of his dark attire, Dracula began to follow the human as he silently watched the their every move as he weaved behind the tree trunks.

(tempplay by DarkSideCookie) It was just another day of roaming through the forest, keeping her eyes and ears open for any sign of a royal carriage to come rumbling by. Snow had gone out of gold and food, yet still liked to keep to her motto that plundering humans was better than hunting animals. If not finally an opportunity would come up though, that was what she probably had to do. You'd almost think that, lately, something was keeping people away from the forest, or maybe even the other way round. Could it be that something was snatching the people from under her nose? Well, that was unlikely, or wasn't it? There was no human being, other than her, living in the forest. And yet, for days already, Snow had a feeling like somebody was observing her. Oh wow, is that what eventually happened when you were living in a forest all by yourself? Becoming paranoid? Well, even if there was someone on her heels, the last huntsman Regina had sent, she pretty much had won over to her side. It was not the wicked that wins, never. With another sigh of annoyance, of course, quiet enough to not draw anyone's attention - well, if there was anyone in the first place - Snow allowed herself to let her guard down for a moment. Maybe she should refill her waterskin first and then give the hunting another thought. Walking out of her hideout behind the tree, she made some steps in the direction of the closest stream when suddenly this strange feeling of being observed hit back and made her stay right at the spot. With slow movements, she prepared her bow for an attack while carefully scanning her surroundings. Someone was there. And then she saw them - a pair of the darkest eyes she had ever seen, belonging to a man with a little bit too fancy wardrobe for a walk in the forest. But instead of becoming frightened of his intimidating looks, especially those eyes, Snow was only moving to bend her bow. "Whoever you are," she said with no sign of fear. "stop spoiling my business." She was pretty sure that this stranger must be the reason for the fact that, lately, everybody seemed to decide on an alternative route. No way she would let him get away with that. This was her territory.

"Whoever you are," "stop spoiling my business."
The Count had made it part of his infamous reputation that he often acted upon dire impulse at the heightened points of his hunger. Dracula could have crept among the shadows for a while longer, played with his food for a little bit in secret until waiting for the right moment to catch her off guard and pounce. However, that was simply not who he was. Although he appeared to look like a man of tradition, his actions revealed that he was far from that. He did what he pleased and when he felt like it, too. It was no mistake that he revealed himself to his prey so vastly, for he knew he would get what he wanted in the end. He always did, one way or another.
Frozen about a yard away from the scavenger girl, Dracula realized that he had just come face to face with a bow. Retracting any sort of inkling that he was preying on this girl he nicknamed in his mind 'dinner', he brought forth a sense of composure as his bloodshot irises washed back to white and his mannerism spoke lengths of fake innocence. He slowly raised both hands on each side in a sign of surrender as his gaze jotted from the scavenger, to the pointy blade aimed at his head.
"Spoiling? Your business?" Dracula raised his eyebrows playing within a tone of confusion. He scoffed as a chuckle of disbelief rose from within him, "Let's just think about this for a moment - erm, perhaps you could lower that pointy weapon of yours, you won't need it here," Dracula spoke as a rational calmness exuded from his being, giving off a trustworthy air that suddenly surrounded him.

Snow didn't act intimidated nor a bit surprised at the fact that the man he was aiming an arrow at, ready to shoot at any time, was able to change from bloodhound to seemingly gentleman in the blink of an eye. There was a lot of crazy shit going on in the wild. And she had seen a lot of that shit already. If he tried to attack her, Snow wouldn't hesitate for even a second to let the arrow run right through him. Even if not out of self-defense, it would only add another series of wanted posters, maybe up the reward as well. Why not? Some more idiots who would try to catch her to bag that money, and so she could bag theirs first.
"Spoiling? Your business?" Snow didn't allow herself to get deterred by the stranger's confusion, same as by his sudden chuckle. Oh, one of that sort. If her stomach wasn't empty, she might have lost her last meal right to his feet. "Let's just think about this for a moment - erm, perhaps you could lower that pointy weapon of yours, you won't need it here,"
"Rejected.", Snow replied matter-of-factly, making no move to oblige. He must think she was an idiot. In silence, she wondered if ever someone had been so stupid to do as told. "So, how are you doing it? Scaring them away with your Big Bad Wolf stunt, or what?" Snow didn't know how he did it, but she was able to put one and one together. She had seen some kind of wolf around this area these last couple of days and now was sure she hadn't just imagined a very dark couple of eyes flashing through the brushes every now and then. Also, after she had made the acquaintance of Red, this thought was not too odd, after all. But whatever he was, he seemed to be aware of it pretty well.

"So, how are you doing it? Scaring them away with your Big Bad Wolf stunt, or what?"
"I'm a Vampire, darling," Dracula spoke assertively, almost taking offense to the fact that she had no idea who or what he was, "You've never seen the likes of my kind before, have you? Well, of course not in this land for that matter. There's too much trouble for someone like me to get into here, kind of like a child in a candy shop...," He stopped momentarily, his gaze appearing to be somewhat mesmerized of the woman before him. Yet truly it was the fresh aroma of the blood pulsating through her veins that snared his senses. "Yet, what I'm wondering is what someone like you is doing out here alone, in the middle of the night? Shouldn't a pretty damsel like you be locked away in a tower somewhere, waiting for your true love's kiss? I am still in the Enchanted Forest, am I not?" Dracula inquired freely as he placed a stereotypical label on the scavenger girl. From his experiences thus far in this land, there always had seemed to be a loyal knight going after his damsel in distress who had just been locked away by her evil stepmother. Soon, true love would find each other and would live happily ever after, blah, blah, blah. Very typical, and plainly boring to be frank. Dracula could only imagine how this land could get even more cookie cutter.

"I'm a Vampire, darling,"
At that, Snow's features grew surprised for a moment, after all. Not even necessarily about the fact that he was, like he said, a vampire, but because he just said so. In a way like someone gave away their name. There was also something about him that irked her while, at the same time, made her want to lower her weapon just as she'd been told before. Snow repressed this strange urge and back came the cold expression of someone who wouldn't hesitate to shoot the arrow.
"You've never seen the likes of my kind before, have you? Well, of course not in this land for that matter. There's too much trouble for someone like me to get into here, kind of like a child in a candy shop...,"
He was coming from... another land? Once again, something mixed up with her hard expression. Curiosity. And also once again, she wouldn't allow that to show for more than a second. Anyways, the vampire seemed to be self-centered enough not to notice or simply not to care. Snow remained quiet and let him go on talking.
"Yet, what I'm wondering is what someone like you is doing out here alone, in the middle of the night? Shouldn't a pretty damsel like you be locked away in a tower somewhere, waiting for your true love's kiss? I am still in the Enchanted Forest, am I not?"
Suddenly she chuckled. Not a joyful chuckle but one that gave away how wrong he was about her. "True love's kiss," Snow replied like it was something ridiculous while the grip on her bow actually loosened without her even realizing that. "Don't make me laugh. The only men going after me is a bunch of sellswords. If any of them tried to kiss me, I'd make them lose more than just their gold."

"True love's kiss,"
Although barely acquaintances, Dracula was pleasantly tickled that they appeared to share the same notion that true love's kiss is nothing more than a man made sham to create a false sense of something to live for. As crazy as it seemed, for the first time since arriving to the Enchanted Forest, this woman was beginning to change his entire perspective on it's inhabitants. Perhaps all who lived in this land weren't all sunshine and fairy dust, after all.
"Don't make me laugh. The only men going after me is a bunch of sellswords. If any of them tried to kiss me, I'd make them lose more than just their gold."
"Was that you on the posters around the villages? Gracious, you are in quite a quandary, aren't you?" Dracula spoke as he meditated on the revelation that this woman was on the run. That definitely answered a question or two that had been stewing in his mind. Pushing his hunger aside, his curiosity started to get the best of him as he inquired more from this woman and her interesting predicament, "You must have done something terribly awful to have a bounty placed on your pretty, little head." Dracula commented, rather inquisitive like than threatening as money in exchange for this woman did not hold much value to the monster Lord.

"Was that you on the posters around the villages? Gracious, you are in quite a quandary, aren't you?"
"Yah well, more like a celebrity.", Snow confirmed and corrected with an almost proud expression at the same time. She might be on the run, but not like someone who really kept her head down. Regina shall hear from her every now and then as being the one who robs her royal carriages. The carriages she only held because she had married into her family and then just usurped everything. Yet still, Snow's tears had dried, even after Regina took her father, while the Evil Queen, how she was calling herself ever since, could never forgive this one mistake that Snow had made when she was only a child. The more time Snow was spending on the run, away from a life she once had been meant to live, the less she believed in things like there's always something good in everyone.
"You must have done something terribly awful to have a bounty placed on your pretty, little head."
At that, Snow had to chuckle again, this time in a good-natured way, while the bow in her head lowered. She didn't see too much of a danger in a man, even if that man stated to be a vampire, who obviously was not on the Evil Queen's side. Snow still would keep her eyes glued to him, of course, yet if he intended to kill her, he'd have already done so. "I'd say, it depends on the point of view.", she finally answered with a shrug of her shoulders. "So, what's the child doing in the candy shop all alone?" Snow suddenly asked, trying to turn the topic of their conversation back to the stranger instead. "Got lost?"

"So, what's the child doing in the candy shop all alone?" "Got lost?"
Dracula watched as the scavenger woman's pointed tip of her arrow lower slowly down to the ground. He could sense that her guard still remained up. However, a slight window of trust began to show as he showed her that he meant no harm. Though, the mystery of this girl boggled his brain. Only one drop of her blood on his tongue would allow for him to see her for who she truly was.
"On the contrary, I believe I am right where I need to be," He stood in place before her, flashing a confident smile her way before growing rather inquisitive, "Have you heard of a hellhound wreaking havoc in these parts?" If anyone knew the area, it would be this young woman right before him. The slight tears on the wanted papers proved to him that she had probably scaled this forest high and low by now. Not that he couldn't find the beast that he was looking for on his own, but he couldn't possibly argue with a bit of backup. Before growing with hunger again, that is.

"On the contrary, I believe I am right where I need to be,"
At that, Snow gave him a look that silently asked Is that so?. It seemed that, although not wittingly, ever since she'd been lowering her bow, she saw no danger in him at all. This meant either carelessness, something that usually was completely out of character for her, or intuition that she could trust him after only a little chat. If she thought about it, both scenarios were kind of ridiculous. His next question banished these thoughts and instead brought a slightly confused expression to her features.
"Have you heard of a hellhound wreaking havoc in these parts?"
Now, this was ridiculous, wasn't it? "I assumed it to be just a fable," Snow launched into an answer, placing one hand on her hip - which meant that now her guard was completely down. "Far spread though, if heard by someone coming from another land. Or is it your eloped pet, in the end?" she asked with a smirk, although curious at the same time, for she seemed to actually contemplate that being a possibility, after everything she'd already heard.

"Far spread though, if heard by someone coming from another land. Or is it your eloped pet, in the end?"
Dracula inwardly chuckled as he pressed his lips together in a grin. He stared at the scavenger girl for a moment as he thought about his answer to her ponders. Twisting truths and words to get what he wanted came to him like a reflex. Though, in this circumstance he didn't feel it to be necessary. He didn't feel threatened by her, and even if she were to release an arrow to pierce his flesh, it would have no permanent effects on altering his life. He was dead already. "Not a pet of mine...," Not yet at least, Dracula started as he began to confide in the young woman in front of him like an open book, "...The great beast belongs to the King of the Underworld himself. How it got into your realm is beyond my knowledge, and quite frankly if this were my home I would be riddled with concern," Dracula knew just how difficult it was to travel between realms. He barely got away with it, coming from a realm where not much magic resides. Either someone made a big mistake in the Underworld or someone purposely sent the beast with an intention, "Yet, my concern is getting the hellhound to safety before he gets seriously hurt, or worse. Poor thing is probably terrified out of his canine skull," Dracula allowed a glance of worry to glaze over his eyes. He was a Vampire, but he wasn't completely heartless. Being Lord of Monsters and all, Dracula had a bit of a soft spot for misunderstood beasts. And from the way this scavenger woman carried herself, Dracula felt as if she may be in a place where she felt misunderstood.
"Help me lure the hellhound away to safety, and I'll help you clear your name of the crimes you've committed. Some have told me that persuasion is one of my finest qualities, so I'm sure whatever you've done to earn your scavenger status that I can help you find a way out...," Dracula bartered, yet placing a finger in front of himself to prove his point it froze mid air. His jaw unhinged slightly as it broke out into a slight side grin, "...What did you do, anyways?" The Count asked, as if they were going to help each other he figured he would like to know what exactly he was dealing with.

"Not a pet of mine...,"
Usually, Snow didn't like strangers looking at her like she was some fresh meat - especially as she should be aware of how accurate that definition was with this one -, yet for some reason, it was different with him. She even kind of... liked his company, not in a romantic way but rather like someone she would want to share her deepest secrets with. Wow, this really was ridiculous. Maybe she had been out of food for too long already.
"...The great beast belongs to the King of the Underworld himself. How it got into your realm is beyond my knowledge, and quite frankly if this were my home I would be riddled with concern,""Yet, my concern is getting the hellhound to safety before he gets seriously hurt, or worse. Poor thing is probably terrified out of his canine skull,"
"Huh," was all Snow came up with after Dracula's speech that made it sound like he actually was a worried dog owner searching for his lost puppy. Yet, what was even more peculiar was the fact that she felt sorry for him and the... poor thing.
"Help me lure the hellhound away to safety, and I'll help you clear your name of the crimes you've committed. Some have told me that persuasion is one of my finest qualities, so I'm sure whatever you've done to earn your scavenger status that I can help you find a way out...,"
Snow eyed him more intense, trying to read what seemed like not only a closed but also a sealed book.
"...What did you do, anyways?", he suddenly added with a slight grin.
"I might help you.", Snow finally answered, ignoring his last question for the time being. "On one condition. Oh, two actually," she added with a gesture of her free hand, "First is, I won't play the live bait for you. Second, you let me choose the favor I'll get for helping you." Snow didn't need her name getting cleared out, but she might someday could use a favor from somebody coming from a mysterious land and with the ability to control beasts. She grinned, then reached her hand out to him. "Are you in agreement?"

"I might help you." "On one condition. Oh, two actually," "First is, I won't play the live bait for you. Second, you let me choose the favor I'll get for helping you." "Are you in agreement?"
"I've only just met you, and it appears you are just full of surprises, my dear. Your proposition work is far too advanced for the typical forest dweller," Dracula stood up straight as a delightful grin spread wide across his chin. He had known from the moment he had encountered the girl that she was much more than a lowly scavenger. He craved to know the mystery behind this commander of the forest. Yet, they had bigger matter to attend to first. And more importantly, Dracula had to seal the deal once and for all, "You've got yourself a deal...um, what should I call you by?" Dracula inquired, wondering if she would truthfully give him her name or an alias.

"I've only just met you, and it appears you are just full of surprises, my dear."
Snow raised an eyebrow at the fact that they had, as he'd said so himself, just met, yet already seemed to have reached the level of giving the other terms of endearment. Or maybe she just wasn't used to that kind of language anymore, since the last men he'd come across had been behind her to get either their gold back or themselves her head to pocket the reward. These men didn't call you exactly dear or the like.
"Your proposition work is far too advanced for the typical forest dweller,"
"Why, thank you, Sunshine!" she replied with a term of endearment in return, one that was so far from suiting this man that it made her almost chuckle herself.
"You've got yourself a deal...um, what should I call you by?"
A satisfied smile appeared on Snow's features. Luring a hellhound couldn't be much worse than dealing with the Evil Queen. After all, she was looking forward to some kind of adventure. Maybe that was even the main reason why she was willing to help this stranger out so quickly.
Snow grinned as she replaced her bow in its holder to get prepared for setting out whenever he would be ready. "You said you've come across one of these posters with my name on it, haven't you? Snow is just fine," she added, in case he didn't remember the name written on them. "You have a name as well, or shall I go on calling you Sunshine? You know, it suits you fine." Snow chuckled slightly, a little bit mocking, although she meant well.

"You said you've come across one of these posters with my name on it, haven't you? Snow is just fine,"
"Ah right. Snow..., must have slipped my mind," Dracula spoke as if he recalled the poster's wording from his memory, her name rolling off of his tongue with arousing curiosity. He knew she was something special, something much more than what she led on. If she wasn't going to tell him then perhaps when his scheme was over and the beast was secured, maybe he could seduce her into taking a small bite to unveil the truth that ran in her veins. Snow was like a crisp, red apple that Dracula would savor until the moment came where he could no longer resist his urges.
"You have a name as well, or shall I go on calling you Sunshine? You know, it suits you fine."
"There's nothing more scalding than unwelcome sunshine," Dracula remarked with slight distaste before placing his hand over the front of his waist and nodding his head into a bow, "My name is Count Dracula, Lord of Monsters. Dracula is just fine." He commented, coming out from his bow, "So, shall we press on then? Beauty before the beast?" Dracula stretched his hand outward to gesture towards the path through the forest.

"There's nothing more scalding than unwelcome sunshine,"
"That's what I thought," Snow remarked with a slight grin while she was tucking everything she needed into her pockets and onto her belt. "Did my homework, you know," she added with a wink. Vampires. Any other girl might be afraid of such a creature, but not her. Snow couldn't help but find him fascinating.
"My name is Count Dracula, Lord of Monsters. Dracula is just fine."
If not the fact that he was calling himself a vampire, finally, the title he added should have put her on alert, right? Nothing. Only more fascination.
"So, shall we press on then? Beauty before the beast?"
"A beast with manners, as it seems," Snow replied with a grin before walking past the man, still not in the slightest afraid. Anyhow, her sound human understanding whispered to her that she shouldn't turn her back on him. What a shame Snow had stopped listening to whispering already a while ago. And so she went on towards that path he was pointing to, ready to go on an adventure.

"A beast with manners, as it seems,"
Dracula smirked lightly at her comment as he allowed her to walk past him. He didn't walk too far behind her as he didn't want to intimidate her in any sort of way. Or make her think that he was looking at her like his next dinner. Just barely matching her speed, Dracula walked Snow along the path of the darkened forest. No glimmers of any villages in sight quite yet, but Dracula knew that they weren't too far off. His gaze dropped below to the bow Snow held closely to her side.
"So you have a fairly good aim, I must assume?" Dracula inquired about her skillset as they pressed onward. He had no doubts that she was nothing short of an incredible markswoman. And he would need her best shot in order to do what he had in mind.

At some point, Snow was slowing her pace a bit, not because she would grow unsure about their upcoming adventure, but instead because she simply had no clue where they would head to. And just as she was going to turn around towards her new acquaintance to get more information about the exact target place, it was him who addressed her first, yet with a different matter.
"So you have a fairly good aim, I must assume?"
Snow gave him no more than a slight grin as she followed his gaze down to the bow on her back. "Many a man might confirm that," she said, knowingly exaggerating. In actual fact, she avoided making use of it against any living creature if she could, although that didn't mean she wouldn't be able to do so if needed. Still, tough or not, violence had never been her number one choice. "Hypothetically spoken, of course," she even added, implying that anyone who'd ever happened to become her aim would be no longer able to confirm anything at all.
With another smirk, Snow turned her head forward again before she suddenly stated: "You've taken into consideration to make me a prey of yours, haven't you? Guess I'm a lucky girl to come in useful then." A light chuckle escaped her while her sound human understanding seemed to be still absent. On the other hand, maybe it was just that what had aroused enough interest in the beast to decide on sparing her life.

"Many a man might confirm that," "Hypothetically spoken, of course,"
Dracula smirked lightly. He figured that she looked like someone who could put a few men into their places. It was clear to the Count that the blood of a born leader ran through Snow's veins. The fact that she hadn't speared him with her bow yet proved to him that she liked to keep her friends close and her enemies closer. Of course, Dracula hadn't proved himself to be an opposing enemy, yet he knew she probably thought that he was more useful alive than dead - for whatever she had planned in her mind as to what favour she would have him help her with after she had graciously helped him rescue the hellhound.
"I've never seen anyone handle a bow the way you handle yours before, Snow, at least not in a very long time. I had a feeling you had a perfect shot streak within you. You're going to need it for what I have planned. And don't worry - I'm not asking you to harm any villagers. Though, hopefully they stay out of the way and no one will get hurt," Snow had given Dracula the answer he had been looking for. He spoke as they walked along the darkened path, inching closer to their destination. A sudden whiff of burning torches filled the air, and Dracula could only think that the villagers were beginning to retaliate.
"You've taken into consideration to make me a prey of yours, haven't you? Guess I'm a lucky girl to come in useful then."
"Ah, Snow, you're quite the clever girl. Are you sure I'm not your first Vampire? I might just be a little disappointed if that's the case," Dracula grew evermore impressed with Snow, as she continued to surprise him at every twist and turn they encountered along the way. "You're right about one thing, I have considered what it would be like to drain your precious, youthful blood from every vein in your body," Dracula spoke in a contemplative tone before hitting the punch line of the point he was going to make, "However, I've noticed something about you - a quality you posses that outweighs many. I haven't figured it out yet, but I feel your value to this land. They'll need you someday...," Dracula expressed his almost premonition-like feeling to the girl before eyeballing two men in the far distance. Dracula and Snow crouched behind the nearest bush as men with torches ran past, yelling into this distance. Dracula figured that wasn't a particularly good sign. They half crouched the rest of the way to the village to stray away from provoking any unwanted encounters. Dracula brought Snow to a stack of barrels outside of what looked like a tavern where the commotion was going about.
And then they spotted the poor, unearthly pup. There in the middle of the town, villagers with torches and pitchforks surrounded the hellhound who nipped and growled at them all in defense.
"There's a butcher's shop about twenty paces to the right over there," Dracula extended a finger to point Snow's gaze in the same direction he was looking, "He must have received a shipment of fresh meat but, like everyone else, grew rather preoccupied with the latest events." A fairly large wooden wagon, stock piled with raw meat, was tacked to the side of the shop with a rope, "That rope is the only thing keeping that wagon in place. If you can align your shot and set it free, it's gonna roll right through that crowd and far into the forest. We can draw him out and away from the village," Dracula looked at Snow, hoping she didn't think he was crazy. He knew it would work, it had to, "A cart full of raw meat is any dog's dream, even the monstrous ones."

Megara brought her horse to a halt, dismounted from the saddle, and tied the rein to a tree. She had been tracking the unknown beast for two days, and it had been easy enough to follow the trail of carnage even without Rumplestiltskin's instructions. Mutilated livestock, the lingering smell of brimstone, burnt ground where its paws had trodden. She was definitely headed in the right direction, but she was armed with a silver dagger just in case this turned out to be a werewolf instead. There had been rumors of those in the countryside as well.
But her master had her looking for a hellhound, an escapee of another realm. What he wanted with it, Rumplestiltskin hadn't specified, and she didn't dare to imagine the penalty if she came home without it. Judging by the commotion in the distance, the beast had been found. A whole crowd of villagers had formed a circle, and she could hear its growling and snarling above their jeering.
Megara returned to the well that she'd seen on the way in and quickly retrieved a bucketful of water. She unhooked it from the rope pulley and set it on the well's edge, removing a glass vial from the bag slung around her shoulder. According to Rumplestiltskin, it was an enchantment that would bless any water that it touched. In theory, it would slow the sulfuric power of the beast and render it calm enough to bind. She certainly hoped it worked, as she didn't really have a back-up plan.
Holding the bucket carefully to keep it from sloshing out, she weaved her way through the crowd, trying to find a spot behind the hellhound so that it wouldn't see her approach. When it seemed sufficiently distracted, Megara tossed the bucket of holy water onto the beast. And instantly regretted it. The hound rounded on her with astonishing speed, its eyes burning red and solely focused on her. Acidic saliva dripped from its razor-sharp teeth to the ground with a hiss. Its now-drenched black fur rippled over its coiled muscles, ready to strike.
"Nice puppy...nice deadly, unearthly doggie..." Megara soothed as she backed away slowly. Before it could spring, she turned and ran toward the nearest structure, using a barrel to climb onto a roof and just narrowly out of its reach. She frantically looked around for an escape route.

"Ah, Snow, you're quite the clever girl. Are you sure I'm not your first Vampire? I might just be a little disappointed if that's the case,"
So, a charmer he was, Snow thought with a toneless chuckle. A charmer of the odd sort, yet a charmer. She liked that, despite the odd part even.
"You're right about one thing, I have considered what it would be like to drain your precious, youthful blood from every vein in your body,""However, I've noticed something about you - a quality you possess that outweighs many. I haven't figured it out yet, but I feel your value to this land. They'll need you someday...,"
"You be aware of how eccentric you sound, aren't you?" Snow asked in a teasing way while she was viewing him with only a sideglance over her shoulder. And just as she was going to add something more, especially to his last statement that sounded really cryptic, something in the distance brought both of them to a sudden halt. Her chuckling died down at the same time as well. They didn't need any words nor an exchange of looks to straight go into teamwork that looked like they would be doing this for a decade already. Crouching behind the nearby bushes, they watched as men with torches ran past them, yelling into the distance. Well, that looked like the right trail. And yet again were the Vampire and the Bandit Princess in no need of convention before simply following their instincts, not set as wide apart as one might think, when, eventually, they reached the nest, and finally, much faster than she would have thought at that, what they actually were about to seek out.
"So you're the reason I lost some weight lately, huh?" Snow whispered more to herself as they both spotted the wanted creature in the distance, surrounded by villagers with their torches and pitchforks, weapons that certainly would do no harm to it. Haven't they read any stories? They should have, straight from the beginning, charged Sherlock Bloodbank and Bullseye Watson with that job.
"There's a butcher's shop about twenty paces to the right over there,"
Snow's gaze wordlessly followed her partner's pointing.
"He must have received a shipment of fresh meat but, like everyone else, grew rather preoccupied with the latest events.""That rope is the only thing keeping that wagon in place. If you can align your shot and set it free, it's gonna roll right through that crowd and far into the forest. We can draw him out and away from the village,"
Instead of any nodding of confirmation or mere looks towards Dracula, Snow's gaze was still glued to said location, silently scanning and processing whilst her partner went on with the sharing of their plan. She would have lied if he said that she wasn't finding this exciting, inciting even. When had been the last time that she had felt adrenaline pumping through her veins like this? Probably never before even.
Then eventually, as Dracula had finished, their eyes met again, in a look that gave away, no matter how crazy one of them would think this was, they both were more than okay with that.
"A cart full of raw meat is any dog's dream, even the monstrous ones."
"Guess it's feeding time," Snow finished with an almost delightful grin in his direction before dedicating herself to the task while Dracula gave her some space to get prepared, which she did immediately, when suddenly, only a breath away from releasing her two fingers from the bowstring, aiming that rope, she spotted a movement somewhere behind the hellhound. She knew there was no time for a distraction, but when she saw it was a person, a young woman with obviously nothing armed but a bucket of water - Who the hell would try to fight a monster with a bucket of water? -, she couldn't help but do a stupid thing. Departing from their original plan while wasting no thought about Dracula liking that or not, Snow released that held breath without firing the arrow and instead changed the target line. No way would she just watch this woman die while shooting at a lifeless rope. Anyways, by the time she had rearranged her fingers on the string, the foolery of the young woman had already happened, now climbing up the roof by using a barrel as headstart. And just when Snow thought the woman was safe, yet her own decision of messing with the plan a potential mistake, the hellhound suddenly jumped up with its claws stretched like out of nowhere, reaching for the woman's feet. Immediately, Snow was back to action, drawing her bow once more and, this time without any hesitating, fired the arrow with her next exhalation. A common arrow might not be what could seriously harm a creature like this - that wasn't anyway what they wanted -, yet it hopefully was enough to distract it long enough to get back on track right after. Snow didn't allow herself the time to check if her arrow had been hitting the target, but instead quickly reached out to another, hurrying to align it on the rest, turning towards the wagon with the rope, taking another inhale, and, finally, another exhale - shot.

"Guess it's feeding time,"
Dracula allowed his coworker to load her weapon and prepare herself for the task at hand. He returned his intensified gaze onto the beast, watching and waiting. Snow seemed particularly experienced in her craft, releasing the meat cart would be a slice of cake for her. Patting the secret weapon that lie underneath his cloak, Dracula had no doubts at this point and could already sense their victory was near. That was, until someone crossed paths with the Hell Hound and attempted to interfere. Of course, it had seemed way to easy up until now.
"What in the...," Dracula was so astounded, he couldn't even finish his sentence as he watched a woman have enough guts to throw a bucket of water onto the hound. Simmering into an angry blaze, the hound began to turn on the woman in defense as she tried to outrun the creature and make a break for it.
"Stupid girl, why must others feel the need to interfere with my monsters?" Dracula tisked as he shook his head in annoyance. Who was this mysterious lady, and what on earth would she possibly want with this beast? Unless...there were a few conspiracies that bounced around in Dracula's head, though now was not the time to dwell on his thoughts. Peering up at the sky, Dracula's eyes turned bloodshot red as he uttered a low incantation that, within minutes, sent a hoard of bats soaring over their heads and in the direction of the woman. Dracula figured they should keep her at bay until he would like a word with her. Meanwhile, the unearthly mutt was still in danger as well as endangering the lives of the villagers. Not that Dracula had any sort of draw to saving human lives here, but the mission at had was still incomplete. Turning his head, Dracula brought Snow back into view. Now, he uttered silently in his head almost in sync with the very moment she allowed the arrow to slip away and soar through the air, perfectly piercing through the rope that kept the meat cart from rolling away.

Well, this day was just full of surprises, and not the good kind. An arrow from out of nowhere had succeeded in diverting the hellhound's attention away from her, and Megara was unsure if she now had a benefactor or a competitor in this quest to acquire the beast. Then she saw that the hellhound was further diverted by a wagon piled high with raw meats that was now rolling its way into the forest.
Before Megara could follow it, she found herself surrounded by a thick cloud of bats that had appeared out of nowhere. Rumplestiltskin hadn't mentioned anything about that, so clearly something (or someone) supernatural was also at work here. She took a deep breath and jumped off the roof into a barrel of rainwater sat next to the building below her. Staying there until she was satisfied that the bats had moved on to harass the other bystanders, she emerged from the water with a low growl.
Megara rung the water out of her hair and her dress as best she could and looked around to assess the situation. The hellhound was indeed gone, supposedly in pursuit of the runaway wagon, but it would be easy enough to catch up with. "Move!" she barked, pushing a panicked villager out of the way as she headed into the forest.

Snow was spending no time on rejoicing her hit since she was used to her arrows hitting the target without sounding arrogant or something. She just knew her talents, having spent hours and hours advancing and perfecting them. However, it was this attitude that allowed her to focus back on her surroundings right after her fingers had left from the string.
"What the...?" she started to form a whispered question once she saw a flock of bats heading for that woman who had tried to fight the monster with a bucket of water only a moment ago. Snow turned her head towards Dracula, giving him a look as if silently asking if he was behind it. But before he could have reacted in any way, she just shook her head, assuming that bats would not cause much harm to anyone, drawing her attention back to the monster leaving into the forest instead, and then, once again, back to Dracula, this time focused on the mission at hand. "So, what now? You have some kind of leash to catch it? Or some vampire trick up your sleeve?" She grinned slightly.

Dracula growled in frustration as the mysterious contender found a clever way to divert the cloud of raging bats as they flew over where she fell into the barrel and fled through the town to taunt the folks below. Yet, he made sure not to allow his attention to grow distracted any longer as his eyes darted back to the meat cart rolling into the forest with the Hellhound chasing after it. Dracula felt victory almost near, until he saw the woman who had tried to capture the beast before Dracula and Snow headed into the forest after it.
"So, what now? You have some kind of leash to catch it? Or some vampire trick up your sleeve?"
"Surely I've got a secret weapon to help tame the beast - but we must hurry," With a finger, Dracula pointed Snow's gaze towards the woman running into the forest, "It appears we've got company, and I have a feeling their intentions do not lie in the same place as ours." Dracula hopped over the stack of barrels they had been hiding behind and figured Snow wouldn't be far behind. He began to run, yet his human form couldn't carry him as fast as he'd like. Dracula's flesh ripped open suddenly and out from his stomach burst a dark wolf with bloodshot eyes. As Dracula shapeshifted, his human shell broke off into particles until there was nothing left. He could only hope that he didn't scare his comrade away with his unannounced shapeshift, and to his relief she was still by his side as they disappeared through the thick of the bushes and trees. Dracula's paws beat against the ground as he ran ahead of Snow and managed to travel fast enough to catch up behind the mysterious woman. Pointed canine teeth nipped away at the back of the woman's ankles at an attempt to slow her down before rounding to the front to halt her completely. Threatening growls gurgled from his throat as he came between the woman and the hellhound who was happily munching away on the meat filled cart, slowly backing her into the armed clutches of Snow. The bats returned, and circled above their heads defensively in case the woman decided to make a break for it. As soon as he knew this woman couldn't go anywhere, Dracula's form of flesh burst from the shell of the beast he had traveled in.
"Poor, frightened girl. And don't bother denying it, I can hear your heart pumping your blood rapidly in that little chest cavity of yours," Dracula stood face to face with the woman, saliva practically dripping from his fangs. What he would give to grab her neck and sink his teeth into her veins. Blood of the frightened was always the tastiest, yet he figured he should keep his mind on the mission, "Is it because you got caught? Or because you'll be going home with nothing to show your master but empty hands?" Dracula took a couple confrontational steps closer to the girl before interrogating her more, "You've caused my friend and I an immense inconvenience today. So you're going to tell us who you are, and who do you work for?"
