Morgana continued to push her fork around on her plate, aimlessly shuffling the bits of food with little intention on eating. Even though she wasn't really hungry, she came to lunch anyways. Morgana did not have much to do with the other students too much, but there was something about being in the Great Hall that didn't make her feel so alone as she would have if she had just sat up in her dorm by herself. There was a strong sensation of warmth and familiarity that welcomed her every time she came to the Great Hall, sometimes even thoughts and feelings that were not of her own. She didn't know an exact explanation for it but her theory was that the spirit of a past student resided in the Great Hall, filling her sad little head with happy thoughts and feelings. She's not sure why it had chosen her specifically, but the connection was nonetheless comforting and always made her feel better. Morgana smiled warmly to herself as she began to have a random thought of butterbeer, hearing a small joyous laughter echo inside of her, so infectious it could have been real. If only.

"Tell me about it, eh. Can't wait until we head into town, we can get our proper fix."
Another smile appeared on Ellie's lips at that comment. She was really looking forward to that, never mind how nervous she has felt the last time they had a private talk in Hogsmeade. But then, later she had wondered about that herself. There was actually no need to be nervous around someone like Dray, wasn't it?
"So far so good, can't complain.", Dray lastly answered to her question about how her day has went so far. "I did come over here for another reason, almost forgot."
"What's it?", Ellie asked with a smile at Dray's gesture of slapping her forehead.
"I wanted to chat about Quidditch, we should try and get extra practice in. We got so close to winning it last year,"
"Gosh, weren't we?! And y'know, there's no such thing as too much Quidditch!", Ellie quickly tossed in, before Dray was going on, suddenly giving her shoulder's a shake. A warm feeling spread over her face. Also a strange familiarity came up all of a sudden, though Ellie was sure this had nothing to do with Dray. In fact she had felt it several times, whenever she spent time in the Great Hall. Or was it just imagination?
"I want you to be my co-captain this year, I want us to take this thing all the way.", Dray jolted her out of her dreams. Ellie's eyes went down to the little patch she has handed her out. "Ever since you became our keeper, we’ve gotten close to the house cup. I need you as my second, we got two years left and I want us to have our names on that Quidditch wall. What do you say?"
"Ohh, that's so cool! And this patch! Did you make it on your own?", she suddenly bursted out. "I'd like to see our names written on that wall, too! Imagine that! Dray Lopez and Ellie Sparks, Captain and Co-captain of... Wait, what exactly is a co-captain doin' by the way?" Ellie was showing an abashed grin.

As he somehow felt observed, Callum raised his head after all. And as he has presumed Darleena was still there, now sitting across from him. For some moments he was just staring back at her. What was the point of this?
"Callum,"
Still staring Callum waited for something more, as her next question visibly irritated him.
"You- um, okay?"
So what exactly was the point of this?
"It needs more than a pesky little brother to make me feel not okay.", he lastly uttered. But he still wondered why she asked. Why she even cared? Or was this to become some kind of family talk? If so, he wasn't interested. "Anything else?"

Ash slithered into the Great Hall in the back of a group of Ravenclaws as he made his usual seeming appearance for lunch. Not that he liked or befriended anyone in particular in the group, he just didn't want to appear to seem alone or out of place enough to cause suspicion. So far since his arrival to Hogwarts, no one had questioned him about who he was or where he had been the past years of school. Of course he had an alibi formed together perfectly but avoiding any confrontation at all costs that could potentially blow his cover was ideal. All of his life long hard work and dedication to his mission had led him up to this breakthrough point. No one would take that away from him, not this time.
He slumped down into a seat at the Ravenclaw table, placing his hands on each side of the tray in front of him as if he were actually going to eat something. Head facing down towards his plate, he peered through the thick locks of hair that draped slightly over his piercing eyes. Ash had a clear enough view of both of his prospects, who would soon know his presance.

Dray could see the huge smile and was glad that Ellie was excited about being her co-captain. "Ohh, that's so cool! And this patch! Did you make it on your own?",
"Yeah!" Dray chuckled.
"I'd like to see our names written on that wall, too! Imagine that! Dray Lopez and Ellie Sparks, Captain and Co-captain of... Wait, what exactly is a co-captain doin' by the way?" Dray gave another chuckle and gave her arm a little push.
"You help me wrangle the team mostly, help me pick out the best players and stuff. Plus, I'm going to put my name in the goblet this year. If I get picked, I'm going to need you to help with the heavy load." Dray hoped she got picked for the tournament this year, she wanted a chance to make a name for herself. She wanted to bring a win home for Hufflepuff.

"It needs more than a pesky little brother to make me feel not okay.", Like all of her family, everyone had built walls and he certainly had his in place. "Anything else?" She shrugged her shoulders, she was tired of being alone- she was tired of being with fake people who only care about being friends with a Lestrange.
"Just thought we could talk, we never really have before. I'd use the cheesy line 'we're family' but I think it would make us both want to vomit." She took another breath, "I don't know what your life is like, but I've always liked you. We're not like our family, we're more." She realized she still kind of used the family line and smirked.

The older Ravenclaw slunk into the great hall. It had been a long day so far. How that was possible he hadn't a clue. One would think he had crammed twenty-four hours into his day already and it was barely lunch. He had been in to see Jake so far when he had a moment to spare between classes. It had not gone well.
Oliver cast a glance around the large room to see any familiar faces but he hadn't seemed to have caught anyone's attention. That was for the best. The Burke Brothers had broken out into an epic battle of wits in the room of requirement. It was bad. He could only be thankful that no one could hear them. He absently poked at the food that somehow had found its way in front of him after he had taken a seat. There was no interest there in actually eating. The boy just waited for the period to end and for him to be able to distract himself with his next class.

Having arrived at the Great Hall early for lunch, Gwen had taken out her Transfiguration text book to do some light reading until Oliver arrived. But so engrossed she became in the tome that she didn't notice the Great Hall slowly fill around her. In fact, it wasn't until angry voices sounded from the Slytherin table next to her that her concentration waned and she finally looked up in surprise to see that she was far from alone- practically the entire Ravenclaw house was now gathered at the table. She shut her book with a snap, stowing it away from the food that covered the table. It wouldn't do at all to get gravy on her brand new textbook before she'd even had a Transfiguration class.
She glanced beside her to find Morgana genuinely smiling beside her- a sight that Gwen was fairly certain she hadn't often seen. "Well, ye seem to be in a grand mood! I take it yer Charms exam went well?"

"Just thought we could talk, we never really have before. I'd use the cheesy line 'we're family' but I think it would make us both want to vomit."
Now that was one interesting turn in their conversation. Suddenly the tired look on Callum's face disappeared and instead true interest showed up.
"I don't know what your life is like, but I've always liked you. We're not like our family, we're more."
Callum leaned a bit forward. "If I was like my family, you'd exactly know what my life is like. So would I. You just would have to study the Malfoy pedigree." His answer didn't tell anything about what his life actually was like. Was he just not used to talk about himself, as usually nobody was asking? Or was he used to talk in riddles to irritate people, just like he did with his little brother at times?
"To be honest...", Callum suddenly added, leaning back in his chair again. "I never noticed your being more. You seem to be a great actress." That was actually a compliment, though he wasn't sure, if his cousine would get it as one.

A slightly embarrassed smile appeared on her lips, when she felt Dray's little push on her arm.
"You help me wrangle the team mostly, help me pick out the best players and stuff. Plus, I'm going to put my name in the goblet this year. If I get picked, I'm going to need you to help with the heavy load."
"Oh okay cool!", Ellie answered still thrilled at the fact she was her friend's first choice as for such a task. "Just hope you kept in mind my great talent as for organization stuff... which's like... none." A chuckle escaped her lips. "But if you still want me to do that, I'll promise tryin' not to precipitate our team into full chaos!" Ellie made a salute gesture, followed by another chuckle.
"Oh and you can totally count on me as for throwing your name in that damn goblet! You'll rock that!", she added, raising two thumbs into the air.

"Well, ye seem to be in a grand mood! I take it yer Charms exam went well?"
Morgana startled at Gwen's booming cheerfulness as the warm glowing feeling dwindled and she snapped back to the present moment. "Oh yes it went rather smooth. Just basic review from last year to see how much we remembered," Morgana replied back as she still had her fork in hand even though she barely ate anything. "And how about you, how was your morning?" Morgana asked, not that she genuinely cared about how Gwen's morning went in particular but seeming that Gwen was always the nicest to her it seemed like the polite thing to do.

*** Draco and Anya enter the Great Hall ***
As Draco entered the Great Hall with Anya, they bypassed his youngest son Scorpius. "Scorpius, my boy, how's your first day of class going so far? Swimmingly, I imagine?" Draco began to greet his son with a warm smile but Scorpius seemed rather upset and angrily pushed past his father and into the corridor. Clearing his throat out of the embarrassing encounter in front of Anya, Draco happily avoided what had just happened and carried forward. "Well, here we are, back at the Great Hall," Draco announced as they took steps further inside, "Now, lunch will be ending quite shortly, so you might want to get back to your - " Draco started to direct her back to her house table to eat lunch before he suddenly remembered that he hadn't even been sorted. "Hmm, oh right..." This was a problem that caused Draco an inconvenience when he had things to do, but feeling bad for the student he did not want to leave her without some sort of direction. "Well, I'll find the headmaster and have a word with him, but for now I'll leave you with someone I trust will make sure that you have food to eat and will make sure you will get to your next class on time," Draco announced as his eyes picked Callum out of the crowd of Slytherins. At that, Draco invited Anya to follow him to the Slytherin table where Callum had been sharing a conversation with Darleena Lestrange.
"Hello Darleena, you and your family are doing well I hope?" Draco greeted the two in polite small talk, " I apologize for interrupting your conversation but I was wondering if I could have a word with Callum for a brief moment?"

"If I was like my family, you'd exactly know what my life is like. So would I. You just would have to study the Malfoy pedigree." Malfoy, Black's, Lestrange's. It was all one big pure blood mess, most of them thought purity was the way to go, Darleena didn't care less about keeping the line pure. "To be honest...I never noticed your being more. You seem to be a great actress."
"You have to be in my family, you must play your part and do it well. To act any different would bring shame to the family name; hate to break it them but my deceased aunt already did that herself. Along with anyone who sides with evil those many years ago." She was about to go on but they were quickly interrupted...
"Hello Darleena, you and your family are doing well I hope? I apologize for interrupting your conversation but I was wondering if I could have a word with Callum for a brief moment?" Darleena was never sure how to address Draco, family lines were blurred. Second cousins, third cousins- she wasn't sure.
"They are well and I should be going anyways. Callum, feel free to say hi whenever you like." She smiled and nodded her head. "It's nice to see you, Draco, Sorry, Mr. Malfoy." She smiled and gave him a tiny curtsy before heading off to chat with some friends before class.

You'll do great, can't screw it up anymore than I can!" Dray laughed, shaking her head.
"Oh and you can totally count on me as for throwing your name in that damn goblet! You'll rock that!",
"Thanks, Ellie, I just hope I can juggle both." Dray was a bit nervous about the whole thing, but she'd try her best to win it for her house- for the school.

"You have to be in my family, you must play your part and do it well. To act any different would bring shame to the family name; hate to break it them but my deceased aunt already did that herself. Along with anyone who sides with evil those many years ago."
Just as Callum was about to say something like So, what IF bringing shame to the family name?, already having a provocative smile on his lips, as someone interrupted their little private talk. Speaking of the devil...
"Hello Darleena, you and your family are doing well I hope?" Callum's smile died down immediately, as he gave his father a sober look from the side. "I apologize for interrupting your conversation but I was wondering if I could have a word with Callum for a brief moment?" And so the moment of maybe one of his most interesting conversations so far has gone, making place for an expected rebuke regarding his father's little precious. Scorpius' humiliation has been only moments ago, but Callum would bet on that blighter right away peaching on him.
"They are well and I should be going anyways. Callum, feel free to say hi whenever you like." Callum didn't answer her smile nor her nod, instead kept watching his father with a look saying something like Surprised I had a talk with someone? And that even with someone of pure blood?. Even in his thoughts the use of this phrase made him want to vomit. For only a second he had to smile after all, because he caught himself finding his cousine's euphemism quite appropriate. "It's nice to see you, Draco, Sorry, Mr. Malfoy.", Darleena said before she left them alone.
"So this is gonna be a good scolding, isn't it?" Callum tried to put as much sarcasm in his voice as he could, accompanied by another provoking smile, though different from the one he gave to Darleena before his father had interrupted.
For now Callum ignored the girl standing behind his father, or rather didn't pay particular attention to her. He was not exactly overanxious to have a scene between father and son in front of someone else, but he actually didn't care much about that either.

Anastasia remained respectfully quiet during Mr. Malfoy's run-in with his son, a young boy bearing the same striking white-blonde hair. Scorpius, as his father had called him, was apparently in a mood and pushed past his father in a very childlike tantrum way. She averted her gaze out to relay that she wasn't judging what just occurred as it wasn't her business, trying to allow Mr. Malfoy the opportunity to overcome any embarrassment it may have caused him or the unnecessary need to apologize.
"Now, lunch will be ending quite shortly, so you might want to get back to your - " "Hmm, oh right..."
"It's alright," she reassured, figuring she'd just go in and find an open spot somewhere next to students who looked relatively friendly. Maybe even find the girl Marius had introduced her to. Gwen. That was her name. But Mr. Malfoy pressed on before she'd had a chance to act on the courage she'd just mustered up.
"Well, I'll find the headmaster and have a word with him, but for now I'll leave you with someone I trust will make sure that you have food to eat and will make sure you will get to your next class on time,"
"Oh, that's," she began in weak protest but he was already waving her forward. Anya wasn't exactly sure of the authority Mr. Malfoy held in this place and didn't wish to disrespect his position or make a scene, so she followed.
"Hello Darleena, you and your family are doing well I hope?"...
There was a close familiarity in the way Mr. Malfoy and ones he'd addressed spoke. Anya felt like an outsider intruding so she stepped back a little, allowing them a moment.
She began a casual glance at the enormous room and the girl, Darleena, that Mr. Malfoy had first addressed soon went passed her line of vision. Anya guessed the girl had been booted from the conversation and Anya couldn't help but feel at fault for that.
There were a few students who eyed her curiously and she avoided making eye contact with the ones that appeared to be judging her or assuming the worst of her. She couldn't blame them. Yesterday, she was announced as the niece of the Headmaster and the next day, she's lead in by another figure of authority. That was social suicide at any school and she figured it probably wouldn't be different here.
She didn't much care. The foster home she'd grown up in gave her a thick skin and she was used to keeping to herself. Not that she would turn down a chance to form some friendships--she found the thought nice, actually--but she learned long ago to detach herself from needing others. At least on an emotional level. Right now, though, she definitely could use the help of friendly people to better understand this entirely new world that was completely foreign to her.

"They are well and I should be going anyways. Callum, feel free to say hi whenever you like." "It's nice to see you, Draco, Sorry, Mr. Malfoy."
Draco nodded in Darleena's direction as she sauntered off to talk with her fellow classmates. It was rather refreshing to see Callum get along with one of his own relatives, as he always remained exclusive of any sort of small talk at family gatherings. Draco grinned, as he had a feeling that this would be Callum's year to make the Malfoy name proud and that his wife had nothing to worry about after all.
"So this is gonna be a good scolding, isn't it?"
Draco was taken back slightly at the sarcasm that dripped from Callum's voice. The prideful feeling within him that he felt about Callum for a brief moment sank as he came back to the realization that this was the same Callum with the same attitude. Of course Draco did not appreciate the way his son just spoke to him in public, let alone Draco's own work, but he did not want to cause any sort of scene. Instead, Draco held his composure as he raised his eyebrows to flash Callum a brief Don't push me son look and carried forward with nothing but an upbeat, professional grin.
"Hello son, I hope your first day of school is going well so far, I hope?" He chimed as he gestured one of his hands towards Anya for an introduction, "This is Anastasia. This is her first day here at school, and she hasn't been sorted yet. I have to go back to work shortly, but she hasn't had lunch yet nor does she really know her way around to her classes. I was hoping that you would do me a favor and help her on her first day?" Draco asked his son nicely as he awaited for an answer. Although his wife at home was getting rather frustrated with Callum's charades, all Draco wanted was to be proud of his oldest son and wanted their little world to accept him too. This could be the first step in the right direction.

The sound of her name pulled her from her study of the Great Hall. Anya turned back toward Mr. Malfoy in time to realize she was being introduced. She shifted her gaze to the son and despite the awkward situation of being forced upon by a parent, managed to put on a friendly smile. She threw in a small, arching wave, the scar on her palm going by in a blur before she folded her hands to rest in front of her, trying to appear casual when all she wanted to do was escape.
Anya's smile faltered as Mr. Malfoy continued passed the introductions and onto handing the burden of babysitter over to his son. She felt herself flush, a mixture of embarrassment, surprise, and pity for both herself and the son. The son, Callum, she recalled his name was, hadn't looked too pleased when they'd first walked up. She was under the assumption that just having been accompanied by his father had probably earned her negative points and she imagined this newest development blacklisted her from any form of friendship to be found here.
"Oh, that's not necessary. I can manage," she said, trying to sound as polite as possible.

Callum watched his father trying to stay all calm and professional, though he knew this was a mask hiding shame and anger about his oldest son behind. This seemed to raise his self-confidence even more, like he had it made his task to strive against the family's stream by all means. When his father spoke up again, his smile died down however.
"Hello son, I hope your first day of school is going well so far, I hope?"
He didn't give an answer, but then, he was pretty sure his father has been aware of not getting one anyway. Instead Callum's eyes were following his hand's direction, still remaining unimpressed.
"This is Anastasia. This is her first day here at school, and she hasn't been sorted yet." Well, fine. But why are you telling me?, Callum thought, while his gaze turned back from newcomer to dad, not even reacted on the girl's shy greeting. Callum wasn't exactly an unfriendly person, it was more like he was used to people not wanting to talk to him anyway. So why he should do now and above all why to someone his father was introducing to him? This was another of his tries to get him into some kind of social life. Hopefully this was the last try. "I have to go back to work shortly, but she hasn't had lunch yet nor does she really know her way around to her classes. I was hoping that you would do me a favor and help her on her first day?"
Callum put on one of his greatest sarcastical grins. "So you want me to share a hot dog with her, while we're having one of those dweeb to newbie chats, in which I'm talking about how absolutely wonderful this school is?"
"Oh, that's not necessary. I can manage,"
"Awesome! So, you've heard her.", Callum threw in, before his father could have said anything, either to his former statement, turning the scene in ridicule, nor to her argument to manage this on her own.

The smile began to fade from Anya's face. She felt like a pawn in a game of wills between father and son. Whatever was happening here was between them and she'd unfortunately stumbled into the middle of it. Callum didn't know her so she didn't take it as a personal offense but that didn't serve to lessen her anger. She'd been used most of her life and she'd thought this new place would be an escape from that previous life. Anya would be damned if she'd stand here and allow a couple of strangers to use her, inadvertently or not. She interrupted before they could start another round.
"Sir," she said forcefully to draw their attention. She looked at Mr. Malfoy. "I appreciate your help in finding my way here but as I said, I can manage. I'm also capable of making my own friends." She looked at Callum pointedly. "People who actually want to be a friend. Good day to both of you."
Out of politeness, she forced a smile that didn't reach her eyes and walked away before either had a chance to interject or stop her.
This was a moment Anya could use a real friend. Someone to vent to about what just happened. Unfortunately, she didn't have any yet. She saw an open spot on the table across and reached it in a few angry strides.
"Mind if I sit here?" she asked, taking a seat without waiting for an answer. She'd tried to sound pleasant but there was an obvious underlying anger in her voice and mannerism. Something still so fresh that the distraction kept her from taking notice of the people she'd just sat amongst.

What has happened to my son, Draco thought to himself as he managed to keep his cool. Clearing his throat he started to speak again, but little did he know that his efforts were going to go nowhere. "Son, I insist-"
"Sir," "I appreciate your help in finding my way here but as I said, I can manage. I'm also capable of making my own friends." "People who actually want to be a friend. Good day to both of you."
Draco's expression turned from bright and professional to absolutely gobsmacked as Anya assertively made her way elsewhere along the table, away from them. Honestly, Draco really couldn't blame her for not wanting to be in the middle of a horrendous monstrosity that was his dwindled relationship with Callum. Embarrassed and disgraced, Draco gave a chuckle that sounded both angry and nervous as he turned to his son. He did not want to lose his composure but he also did not want to be treated as such in public by his own. "Callum Malfoy ... if you could please follow me out to the corridors, I'd like to have a word." Draco spoke sternly, as he was not asking his son but telling him and thought that if Callum had any shred of respect left for his father that he would do as told.

Ash's gaze locked on Morgana, who appeared to be dreadfully taking in the conversation of one of the peers that sat beside her. He could read her life story and could see so much of himself within her. The introverted personality, the talent. He could feel her negative energy pour across and down the table towards his being, powerful energy he knew that she did not know of possessing yet. Ash knew that the time would come for him to fulfill his mission. Soon enough, he would.
"Mind if I sit here?"
His concentration was abruptly halted as an unfamiliar girl plopped down right next to him. She asked, yet did not wait for an answer as she continued to sit rather awkwardly. Ash's head slowly turned to meet the girl who clearly did not appear to be dressed for classes. Though, he could care less of what she wore with what started to arise. Ash could see this girl's aura which was radiating from every corner of her entire body, her forehead was exceptionally the brightest. As he stared at her in awe, he was most intrigued by the scar on the palm of her hand that was somewhat visible to his eye`s view as she had it opened halfway. His glazed, blue eyes intently scanned it as it appeared to Ash to be some sort of faded marking than a scar. "Peculiar indeed," Ash spoke slowly out of wonder as his eyes darted up to meet hers, "This is all new to you, isn`t it? Hogwarts, I mean." He asked the girl curiously. Out of all of the beings he had encountered in his long life, her being was the most mysteriously unknown to him.

Callum didn't miss the anger inside his father beginning to surface slowly but surely. More surely. And this fact brought another inner wave of amusement to him.
"Son, I insist-"
Just as the feisty look was about to spread all over Callum's face, the girl suddenly cut in.
"Sir," "I appreciate your help in finding my way here but as I said, I can manage. I'm also capable of making my own friends." "People who actually want to be a friend. Good day to both of you."
She really cut in Draco Malfoy's word. Respect! For one moment she truely received an appreciative look from Callum, which though she didn't seem to mind or probably even hadn't seen at all, as fast as she left them all of a sudden. Callum looked after her, before his father's voice made him turn back to their little fight seemingly coming up. So now the good scolding would start. Yay...
"Callum Malfoy ... if you could please follow me out to the corridors, I'd like to have a word."
His sarcastic grin died down immediately, once his father has spoken up to him by using his full name. One move his father must have been exactly aware of to get his son's attention with. It was like a reminder of who he was. Not that Callum would care about it anyway, but it made him angry again, let him forget the slight fun he had during their little conversation and instead reminded him of the Malfoy problem he's been in for his entire life. The reason why no one wanted to be friends with him, not even talk to him.
With one stern look he let the fork in his hand noisely fall onto the plate in front of him and, his eyes concentrated at his father, lastly did as he was told. Following his father's angry steps out to the corridors.
***Draco and Callum Malfoy exit to the Corridors***

Anya was still mentally going over the situation she'd just walked away from, imagining different scenarios of how she could have handled it, mostly wishing she'd have been more assertive the first time she'd attempted to remove herself from the situation. 'Wouldn't want to be friends with a stuck up brat anyway,' she thought to herself, pride still a little bruised. He hadn't much given her the time of day so she couldn't really judge what kind of person he was, but that was the takeaway she got from the short interaction. If you could call it that. He hadn't even bothered to talk to her directly, merely about her to his father right in front of her.
"Peculiar indeed,"
Anya realized the person next to her had spoken. "Hm?" she said distractedly. Now she was the one being rude. "Sorry, lots on my mind," she said, looking apologetic as she tried to make up for her initial impression by giving her full attention to the boy who'd spoken to her.
"This is all new to you, isn`t it? Hogwarts, I mean."
Anya assumed his question was a repeat of what he might have said while she hadn't been paying attention. "Oh, yah, it is," she said, nodding. In case his comment had been meant as a polite way of asking why she was sitting at his table when her robes bared no house crest nor any accessories that showed off the colors of a house, she went on to explain. "I haven't been sorted yet so I was told to find an available seat anywhere, perhaps get to know some people from each of the houses." She looked at the emblem on his robe. "Ravenclaw, right?"

The Ravenclaw didn't know how long he had been in the Great Hall. It was doing nothing to settle the tension though. He wasn't sure if it was because his nerves were all fired up or what but despite the fact that he couldn't seem to focus on his food, he was hyper aware of what was going on around him. He wasn't even scanning the room. There was a racket from the Slytherin table. Callum Malfoy. And then an older voice's rebuttal. Oliver didn't know the man, a new professor? He wasn't interested enough to look up.
At that moment he became aware of Ash sitting not far away. That Ravenclaw gave him the creeps. All the more reason to keep his eyes averted. Suddenly someone plopped down between them. That was a blessing because now he could feel some of his nerves settle down. A Girl, she looked like a sixth year. But she was not wearing their house crest, or any crest for that matter. Burke simply shrugged to himself but nodded appreciatively, if also absentmindedly. He didn't care whose house she was in, she wasn't Ash Jones. "I haven't been sorted yet so I was told to find an available seat anywhere, perhaps get to know some people from each of the houses." His interest was becoming peaked in this developing conversation next to him. "You chose the right table." He wasn't trying to hijack their moment but he cast her a smile as he pushed his plate back finally.

The person to her other side drew her attention with what felt like the first real friendly welcome. With both boys on either side of her having shown an openness to her presence, a stark contract to her first interaction with Mr. Draco's son, she felt herself relax.
"Did I now?" she asked, returning his smile. Anya reached for a bread roll and started to break a piece off of it. "And why is this the 'right table'," she put an emphasis on his word choice, clearly meaning their House. She looked between the two boys as she chewed, one seemingly intense and serious and the other relaxed and carefree, leaving it open for either or both to answer.
Anya wanted to learn more about the Houses and the best way to understand a group and what it stood for was to talk to someone who was dedicated to or passionate about that particular group.

"I haven't been sorted yet so I was told to find an available seat anywhere, perhaps get to know some people from each of the houses." "Ravenclaw, right?"
"Mhmm," Ash's voice vibrated deeply as he gave one slow nod to confirm that she was accurate, "Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure," he spoke rather lowly to the new girl as a grin crept along his face, appearing to be a tad creepier than he intended. Yet, he was a rather creepy individual in general so he couldn't help the way his facial expressions take shape.
"You chose the right table."
Ash looked over to Oliver Burke who appeared piped up into the conversation. Ash did not mind the interruption as he was not much of a social butterfly, so Ash voluntarily took a backseat in the conversation and continued to observe as his eerie gaze locked onto the pair as they engaged in conversation.

"And how about you, how was your morning?"
Gwen frowned a bit, thinking back on the morning. A confrontation with that slimy weasel Frederick Flint was not exactly the way she'd wanted the year to start. Really, who did he think he was treating Oliver as he had? Bloody arrogant, foolish...
Feeling her temper flare just thinking about him, Gwen decided the Slytherin was probably not the best topic of conversation.
"It was....interesting," she replied noncommittally. Her smile returned quickly, though slightly forced, and she scrunched her nose a bit. "I think the summer holiday has succeeded in making Professor Rowle even more demanding than last year, if that is possible. I love Defense Against the Dark Arts and even I might be beginning to rethink my career options."
Heated voices again floated over from the Slytherin table and Gwen looked up in time to see her new friend from the morning sit herself down at the Ravenclaw table, next to none other than Oliver. Why was he sitting all the way down there? Perhaps he hadn't seen her, with her nose stuck in her text book. She glanced back at Morgana. "I've just spotted Oliver. Do you want to come sit with us?"

Oliver smiled, Ash seemed to be taking a step back but that was fine. He could put his two cents in on this matter. "You won't find any ravenclaw showing off and trying to play the big hero, thats for sure. When we get going its not an act. When you actually stick to your classes you can do a lot more than pretend to be Harry Potter, or Hermoine Granger." He was feeling it. It was nice to be able to try and recruit someone over to their side. Normally the hat chose and that was it. Although he knew now, at least the rumors were... the more you knew the better your odds of getting one house or another. This new girl could have a lift up on the competition if she stuck with them.
"And we aren't going to be waisting our time pointing out how inferior everybody else is to cover for our own problems like them Slytherins. Don't even get me started about the Hufflepuffs. I heard they have a song about us they like to sing... Jealous." Burke grabbed a roll and took a triumphant bite. He wasn't even hungry but it just kind of happened.

Anya couldn't help smiling at Oliver's enthusiasm as he spoke. His first comment about Ravenclaws showing off may have been slightly contradicted with his boasting of his House but she took it to mean that it wasn't in their general nature. He was simply answering her query.
She logged the bit of information away about each of the Houses, noting that it was from the biased perspective of one from Ravenclaw House. She looked forward to hearing how other Houses viewed themselves and their competitors.
Anya chewed thoughtfully. "Who's Harry Potter?" She couldn't recall the other name right off. It was more unique but figured asking about the one would include answers about the other. They were apparently important if people were pretending to be them. Were they real or fictional characters looked upon for guidance and inspiration from tales in this world?
She had no idea how insane of a question this was to ask in the magical world. Anya was caught up learning from her peers that she forgot about thinking over her questions before asking them. After Marius had thrown her for a loop by announcing her as his niece, it seemed important that she be careful and avoid questions or comments that would bring scrutiny to herself or Marius. She wasn't sure what she was and was not supposed to say and truth be told, wasn't even sure herself exactly what was going on.
