Hogwarts ExpressThe Hogwarts Express is the name of the train that makes a run between London, King's Cross Station Platform 9¾ and Hogsmeade Station. It makes this run about six times per year, maybe more, as needed.
It now also makes the short trip between Hogwarts and Hogsmeade. The Express carries students to and from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at the start and end of every term. The train leaves Platform 9¾ without fail on 1 September at 11 o'clock in the morning, arriving at Hogsmeade Station in the early evening. Some students take the train back to King's Cross Station to go home for the Christmas and Easter holidays, but some don't, as they stay at Hogwarts. It also makes the run back again to London at the end of term in June. The Hogwarts Express was originally built by the Muggle engineers at Crewe, in Cheshire, England, in the early-to-mid 19th century.
Sometime in between 1819 and 1849, Ottaline Gambol rose to the office of Minister for Magic, and she made a daring and controversial suggestion to solve the ages-old problem of how to transport hundreds of students to and from Hogwarts Castle every school year without attracting the Muggles' attention: intrigued by the Muggle technology, the Minister saw the potential of using a train as a secure and comfortable alternative to Portkeys or to unregulated means of travel. The Ministry of Magic conducted a large-scale operation involving one hundred and sixty-seven Memory Charms, as well as the biggest Concealment Charm ever performed in Britain, in order to acquire the locomotive. The morning after this operation, the residents of Hogsmeade awoke to find the gleaming red Hogwarts Express and a railway station that had not been there previously, and the Muggle railway employees in Crewe had the feeling they had misplaced something, which stayed with them for the rest of the year. There was initial resistance from pure-blood families against using a Muggle-built device for wizard transportation (which, they claimed, was "unsafe, insanitary and demeaning"), until the Ministry decreed that students would arrive to school on the train or not attend at all.

Jake
The train lurched as it started to accelerate, leaving behind the families of all the students. Finally, the new year was starting, and despite not being an official student of Hogwarts, Jake couldn't help but feel the thrill of returning to the magical school once more.
He waited for a few minutes before exiting the lavatory where he'd hidden while everyone was getting on board and went to find Oliver. His brother had planned to get a room all to himself, so the two of them could spend the time aboard the train together. Hopefully, Oliver had managed to convince his classmates he wanted to be alone, because otherwise Jake would spend the whole ride pretending to be his brother in the hopes no one would realize there were two Oliver Burkes on their way to Hogwarts.

Oliver
This was it, as the train spurred into motion he could feel his excitement rising. Well... his apprehension too as he still had no idea where Jacob might be hiding. Oliver sat back in his seat, with a quick glance up to make sure his bag was secure. He had the room all to his self, just the way they always did. He thought about taking a peak around but was not sure if that was for the best.
A few moments passed and then he was up at the door, wringing his hands together. Turning the latch, Oliver peered out into the hall and sure enough with a quick glance about he saw two girls heading in his direction. Coming from the opposite end was Jacob. Oliver shot back inside and waited. The moment had been brief enough the girls had not seen him, but then Jacob may not have either. He just hoped he would get there first. As his brother appeared in front of the door, Oliver grabbed him by the arm and redirected him inside, shutting the door behind him. The shade was already drawn down over the glass. He immediately wrapped his brother up in a hug before letting him go to look him in the eye.
"Jacob, it's so good to see you! Took a bit of a gander about there and not a moment too soon!"

Jake
Jake walked down the hallway, looking out for any signs of his brother's compartment. This was always the tricky part; finding each other. Even when Jake did find Oliver, he had to make sure his brother was alone before barging in.
Then, he saw two girls at the other end of the hallway, walking toward him. He sent them his most charming smile, which caused them both to blush. He wanted to strike up a conversation with them, but Oliver was waiting for him and he didn't think his brother would appreciate him flirting with Slytherins. Jake was about to confidently stride past the girls, when all of a sudden he was jerked off course. He stumbled into a compartment, and then his brother was embracing him. Typical Oliver; to greet him like they'd been separated for years when they'd seen each other half an hour ago. Although, if Jake was being honest, he secretly liked Oliver's huge hugs. Not that he'd ever tell his brother that.
"Jacob, it's so good to see you! Took a bit of a gander about there and not a moment too soon!"
Jake smirked, finding it humorous that Oliver had found the situation to be tense. After all, this was their sixth time doing it. If they hadn't been caught the very first year, they probably never would be.
"Hey Oliver. I see you managed to get a compartment to yourself again. How do you convince you're friends to leave you alone?" He tried to make it sound light, like he wasn't digging for information, but Jake was starting to become worried about his brother. Oliver didn't seem to have many close friends at Hogwarts, and while that gave the twins the oppurtunity to spend time together, Jake was concerned that Oliver's lack of friends was all his fault. Jacob didn't want to hold his brother back from living his life just because he was a squib.

Oliver
He might have been overreacting and the look on his brother's face suggested Jacob thought the same, but Oliver didn't have the chance to properly greet him after seeing each other on the platform before they left King's Cross. Their parents and all that...
"Hey Oliver. I see you managed to get a compartment to yourself again. How do you convince you're friends to leave you alone?"
That took a moments consideration as it wasn't hard to convince people when they had others they wanted to greet after the long summers break. "We'll I just take advantage of the long ride from home, and the fact I don't want to miss any of the celebration later. So I just say I need to grab a kip and off I go." He remembered seeing a smirk on Jacobs face just prior to being pulled into the compartment with him. "What was that look for, taking a bit of a fancy to those girls where you? Don't think I didn't see that!" he added with a smirk of his own.

Jake
"We'll I just take advantage of the long ride from home, and the fact I don't want to miss any of the celebration later. So I just say I need to grab a kip and off I go." That made sense, but Jake still didn't like how easy it was for Oliver to slip away from his friends. Oliver needed to have other people who cared about him as much as Jacob did. Maybe he could convince Oliver to spend more time with others; to actually engage with others of the magical community.
Oliver interrupted his thoughts by continuing. "What was that look for, taking a bit of a fancy to those girls where you? Don't think I didn't see that!" Jake chuckled at his brother's teasing.
"No, they seemed nice enough. I just wanted to mess with them." Jake always enjoyed teasing people, especially since he rarely got to do so. "And you don't mind that they thought you were the one flirting with them?"

Oliver
"And you don't mind that they thought you were the one flirting with them?" Oliver gave him a well placed dramatic pause, then lightened up again. "Slytherin's Jake? Are you trying to get me lynched?" he followed it up with a chuckle to show he was kidding. "Just so long as 'I' don't go standing anybody up, I don't want any details about who you're snogging." Oliver reached up and grabbed his bag, throwing himself into his seat. "Have a go at a game of cards?" he said to his brother as he started rummaging around looking for a deck.

Jake
Oliver paused for so long that Jake was certain his brother was going to get angry. "Slytherin's Jake? Are you trying to get me lynched?" Before he could start panicking, Oliver chuckled. Thank goodness, his brother was only messing with him. He'd been worried for a second that Oliver wouldn't like him flirting with others. "Just so long as 'I' don't go standing anybody up, I don't want any details about who you're snogging." Well, if anything, that just proved that Oliver really needed to have more friends. If his brother didn't mind Jake dating, Oliver probably wasn't planning on dating himself for the foreseeable future. Oliver wouldn't want it to seem like he was dating two girls at once. This troubled Jake, since most of the kids their age were at least thinking about dating. Oliver shouldn't be so wrapped up with him that he forgot to live. That was it, Jake was going to make sure his brother spent more time with other people the only way he knew how; by spending less time with Oliver. It would be painful, sure, but at least that way Oliver had a chance to live the life he was supposed to have, the one Jake was stealing from him.
Oliver, completely oblivious to Jake's inner turmoil, was searching for something in his bag. "Have a go at a game of cards?"
"Why not?" Jake was going to enjoy the trip to Hogwarts, so he'd have the strength to distance himself from his brother when they arrived at Hogwarts.

CORRIDOR
"Knew we should've arrived early." Gwen grumbled under her breath as she and her brother made their way through the corridor. Each compartment was packed full of students, as she had expected it would be when she suggested they leave for the train station in the wee hours of the morning. After all, it was a three hour car ride from Doncaster to King's Cross and the Hogwarts Express always left promptly at 11:00 am. Time, tide and train waited for no man.
'Ye made the train. S'all that matters.' Gwen reminded herself. '...Even if ye spend the entire trip trying to find a seat.'
It wasn't exactly how she envisioned the beginning of her sixth year at Hogwarts. 'Only just on the train and I'm already stalled.'
To distract herself from her annoyance, Gwen turned her attention back to the boy following behind her.
"Now, don't stuff yersel' full with chocolate frogs when the trolley comes round. I know mum slipped ten galleons in yer pocket but ye don't need to go spending it all in one place." Not expecting an answer, she carried on over her shoulder while she kept her eyes forward. Wouldn't do much good to go running into anyone. "Yer sure ye remembered everything, right? Ye didn't leave yer wand on the kitchen table? We we're all a bit addled this morning."

"Knew we should've arrived early."
Drew sighs when he hears Gwen mutter that. She's always so worried about everything. They made it to the train, didn't they? Besides, if Carter was here already then he'd probably saved him a seat.
"Now, don't stuff yersel' full with chocolate frogs when the trolley comes round. I know mum slipped ten galleons in yer pocket but ye don't need to go spending it all in one place."
Since when had he done that? He's always been careful with money and besides, he wanted to save his money for Hogsmeade. And the situation was reversed as normal. It should be his mom telling him not to spend all the money his sister gave him in one place. Why couldn't she just be a normal sister and let him do his own thing?
"Yer sure ye remembered everything, right? Ye didn't leave yer wand on the kitchen table? We we're all a bit addled this morning."
As usual she keeps talking and worrying without waiting for him to get a word in, until she wants to know if he forgot something. That would be fine except that this is the sixth time she's asked. "I might ha forgotten me transfiguration book," he says sarcastically, just to see what she'll do.

"I might ha forgotten me transfiguration book,"
Gwen immediately stopped in her tracks and spun around to face her brother. "Drew, how could ye..." Her indignation trailed off as she caught a look at the mischievous smirk staring back at her. He got her. Again. Her eyes narrowed, "Yer book is in yer trunk, isn't it?"
She didn't know when this brussen had taken over her brother, but she was beginning to tire of it. After holding her annoyed look a few moments longer, she continued the trek down the corridor. "I'm only trying to look out for ye. Ye don't have to be so cheeky with me. Any time ye want me to geeoer, all ye have to do is say so." Even as the words came out of her mouth, Gwen knew they weren't true. She didn't know how to stop looking after him. She'd done it all her life thus far and expected she'd do it all the rest. She walked along in silence for a few moments, occasionally glancing into another full car before moving on.
"Ye did remember your wand, right? 'Cause ye never answered me."

"Drew, how could you..." She trails off then as he continues to smirk at her. "Yer book is in your trunk, isn't it?"
"Well of course it's in me trunk," he informs her in exasperation. Seriously, she really should stop falling for that. He's started doing it more and more when she won't stop bugging him. It hasn't forced her to stop yet, but he doesn't know another tactic so he just keeps doing it.
"I'm only trying to look out for ye. Ye don't have to be so cheeky with me. Any time ye want me to geeoer, all ye have to do is say so." Yeah right. She will never stop looking after him like this. Some days he's sure she wouldn't stop if he got down on his knees and begged her to. She'd just keep on nagging and probably tell him to get up off the dirty floor. And as for being 'cheeky', doesn't he have a right to? She is his sister, not his parent. All siblings get in rows with each other. He should be allowed to say what he wants.
"Ye did remember your wand, right? 'Cause ye never answered me." That is it. He can't take it anymore. After a full summer of being around his nagging sister, he is done. He's ready to go talk with his friends who won't ask if he has his stuff ten times or try and make sure he doesn't have too much candy.
"Ye know, I think I dropped it back yonder," he replies, turning and starting to walk back they way they'd come to get away from Gwen.

"Ye know, I think I dropped it back yonder,"
"Ye dropped it?" Gwen repeated slowly, casting a suspicious glance over her shoulder. "How'd ye manage that and just now be noticing?' But Drew was already half way down the corridor, disappearing through the door that led into the next car over. "Drew!"
With a sigh, Gwen turned around and headed in the same direction. He'd be peeved off but what else was she supposed to do?
"Gwen! Wait up!" a voice came from behind her. Her eyes met Raymond Bell's, a fifth year Hufflepuff whom she had tutored the previous year. "H-hi. I wanted- I mean, I was hoping...uh..."
The poor boy's face was turning bright red as he spoke. 'Uh oh, Gwen. This one's taken a fancy to you...' It might have been cute, except the longer the boy stuttered, the farther Drew would get. Five minutes and a promise to tutor Raymond in Charms later, Gwen was on her way through the door.

"Ye dropped it?" He hears her say that but he ignores her, opting to continue to walk away from his annoying sister in search of Carter. He looks through windows to different compartments until he finally sees his friend. He has managed to snag a compartment all to himself, which is good and bad. He would love for it to be just him and Carter for the whole ride up, but there is the chance that someone they don't know will join them. Or even worse, Gwen could invite herself in. Still, he pushes past that and opens the door.
"Hey Carter," he greets as he goes in and flops down in the seat across from his friend. "How was yer summer?"

Donnie sat in a carriage his feet kicked up taking up a much needed seat while his pet monkey Sho lay next him an arm behind his head the other feeding himself a slice of apple. Donnie flicked through a magazine, Witches of the Wizarding World: Swimsuit Edition eventually turning to a spread which dropped down from the magazines middle, the witch in question gave him a sexy wink before blowing him a kiss.
"FHM eat your heart out!" Sho gave what appeared to be a howl of approval.
Donnie continued to flick through the magazine turning his head and letting out a long whistle on a particular Witch he fancied.
"Take the Train they said, enjoy the English countryside they said..."

Carter
Carter had been one of the first students on the train, along with his brother. However, Justin had run off to save a compartment for his friends almost immediately, leaving Carter alone. He'd chosen a compartment at random, since all of them were empty and it didn't matter which one he took. While he waited for Drew to find him or someone else to join him, Carter flipped open the book he was currently reading; Advanced Potion Making. It was a fairly easy read for him, considering he already knew how to make these potions, and in fact he found himself wanting to correct the book on several occasions.
"Hey Carter." Carter had to stop himself from jumping as Drew finally found him. He was easily startled when he was immersed in a book, especially one about his favorite topic. "How was yer summer?"
"Great," Carter replied as he shut the book so he could pay full attention to the conversation. "Dad showed me how to make some wicked potions." It took a lot of mental strength not to go into detail about the potions, because he loved talking about them. But, he didn't want to bore Drew on their first day back. "How was yours?"

Drew "It was alright whenever Gwen wasn't nagging," he informs Carter. He wonders what else to say and glances at Carter's book for inspertion. Advanced Potion Making. Of course. "Ha ye seen any good quiddich matches over the summer?" he questions. After all, he can't keep up with the wizard spot that well when he's at home with his muggle parents.

Carter
"Ha ye seen any good quiddich matches over the summer?" Of course that was the first thing Drew would bring up; it was the only subject both boys enjoyed discussing. Well, sort of. Carter didn't like talking about watching quiddich, only playing it. Watching the games was boring when he couldn't participate.
"Not really, but my brother saw a few," he admitted. "I practiced with Justin some. I might be better than you again." Carter smiled as his joke. There was no way a few months could have improved his skills enough on a broom to be better than his friend. Despite being muggle-born, Drew was a natural flyer; and not only that but he practiced the skill constantly. There was no way Carter would ever surpass Drew's talent for quidditch.

"I practiced with Justin some. I might be better than you again." He smiles at his friend. It's been awhile since he's been able to practice, but he's looking forward to being back at Hogwarts where he can. He'd practice more at home, put that would only cause Gwen to nag him even more.
"We'll have to see won't we?" he asks.

Kaeden
Kaeden studdied the laces on her boots. They were already dirty, and she had gotten them only a week ago. The agent from the Ministry of Magic that had escorted Kaeden to the station had been abrupt, but not unkind. He made sure they arrived early enough for Kaeden to get on without the stares of the other students being overwhelming. The agent made sure she was on Platform 93/4 at 5:00AM. Kaeden was able to get a compartment to herself.
That had been 3 hours ago. Kaeden brushed off some dirt from her boots and then glared out the window at all the happy families saying good-bye to their children.

Carter Just as Carter was about to respond to Drew, the door to the compartment opened, and six 5th year Slytherins rambunctiously entered the compartment. Carter took one look at the older boys, and instantly grabbed his book and bag. He didn't want to get into trouble on the train; certainly not with older students.
"Beat it, kids," one of them snarled as Carter was jumping to his feet, ready to flee the compartment. He just hoped Drew would be ready to leave as well. Sometimes his Gryffindor friend was a little too eager to jump into a fight. Hopefully, this time, Drew's common sense would prevail.

"We were here first," he says angrily, glaring at the bullies and ignoring Carter's immediate compliance. "Well we are here now," one of the older kids responds. Anger fills him. How dare they do this? But no, he shouldn't go starting fights, especially not with a bunch of older Slytherins. Besides, Carter seems to be getting really nervous.
"Yer lucky ye have yer gauvies* with ye, or I'd bensil** ye," he responds, shoving past the Slytherins to the door.

"We were here first." Great, Drew was going to instigate a fight. Of course, Carter would back him up, but he really didn't want to end up in the infirmary or detention on his first day back to school.
"Well we are here now," one of the older kids responded. This was it, there was no way Drew was going to let this slide. He prepared himself for battle, keenly aware that no matter how this turned out, it wouldn't end well for him or Drew.
"Yer lucky ye have yer gauvies with ye, or I'd bensil ye." Carter had no idea what his friend said, although he assumes it was insulting. Seeing that the Slytherin's jumped to the same conclusion as him, Carter quickly exited the compartment and slammed the door shut behind himself and Drew. Luckily, the other boys desided they weren't worth the trouble to chase after.
"Thanks for not fighting back there," Carter said sincerely. He knew how much restraint it took for Drew not to fight back, and he appreciated his friend's effort. "Now, let's go find a new compartment before they all fill up."

"Thanks for not fighting back there." Well, he isn't an idiot. They were outnumbered by older students. Of course he hadn't fought back. Okay, fine. Maybe he would have last year. He is still trying to work on when to use his bravery and when to use common sense. "Now, let's go find a new compartment before they all fill up."
"Alright," he agrees, taking the lead as they make their way down the corridor. He starts peeking in full compartments until he finally finds one with only one person in it. "This is probably the best we'll get," he states before pulling the door open.

As Kaeden glared through the glass, she saw a family seeing off a blonde little girl. Kaeden had just decided that a staged suicide would be the best hypothetical murder for her when the door to Kaeden's compartment opened. Kaeden spun around and stepped in front of the doorway. A younger boy with flushed cheeks stared at her with wide eyes. Another boy about his age stood behind the first.
"Go away." She told them.
