Third Floor CorridorThe third floor corridor was once off limits to all students. It housed some of the previous Headmasters private items or artifacts that were not meant for prying eyes. Most notably the Sorcerers Stone being guarded by Hagrid's large three-headed dog, Fluffy. Now it has been divided into two wings. The first contains a walk through museum for the famous alumni of the school and those recently who gave their lives during the Battle of Hogwarts twenty years before. The portraits on the walls are more than happy to talk about their lives or whatever legacy they wished to leave behind for future generations. The second is the dorms for those older students brought in under Headmaster Ogden's new accelerated program. They stay in these rooms until they are sorted into houses or properly become acclimated to their new world. Whichever comes first.

Headmaster Ogden
**Enters from Entrance Hall Courtyard** "As you can see the portraits are usually very active, except during the night of course. They need to rest too. But these here, they are much more accommodating." As if to drive the point home Marius and Anya passed one frame in particular.
There was someone peaking out at them and when the young girl saw the older man walking with Anya she stood out in full view. "Headmaster! If you don't mind would you please pass on a message for me to Ronald? No hard feelings, I just wish he would stop by." The professor nodded back at her. " I will make sure he gets the message Ms. Brown."
"As you can see, they are not shy." They continued down the corridor to stop before a large set of doors that marked the end of their trip. "Inside you will find a common room. furnished to fit your needs. Two stairways lead to the boys or girls dorms. If you need any assistance the house elves will always be on hand to assist. They tend to the day to day. That doesn't mean I won't be if you need me Anya. All you have to do is ask. I will hear." Marius finished with a fatherly smile.

"As you can see the portraits are usually very active, except during the night of course. They need to rest too. But these here, they are much more accomodating."
The pictures moved! How fascinating! Anya paused in front of one, shifting left, then right, fascinated when the eyes of the old man in the portrait followed her movement. The man's expression turned to one of annoyance and she found that fascinating as well as she rushed a couple steps to catch up to Marius. They moved and appeared to display different emotions. Her eyes scanned all the portraits and they seemed to scan her in turn.
"Headmaster! If you don't mind would you please pass on a message for me to Ronald? No hard feelings, I just wish he would stop by."
Anya jumped, startled as the portrait spoke. Not just spoke but actually addressed the Headmaster, engaging in conversation. Anya pressed against the wall, peering as best she could between portrait and wall, her automatic Muggle sense was to think this was some sort of trick but it wasn't. Simply pure, amazing magic.
" I will make sure he gets the message Ms Brown." "As you can see, they are not shy."
Feeling rather sheepish, Anya stepped away from the wall, giving a smile of embarrassed apology to Ms. Brown for peering behind her portrait as if the act may have been misconstrued as rude and ill mannered but to her relief, Ms. Brown smiled back, seeming curious rather than insulted by the reaction.
Anya's eyes swept the walls as she continued down the corridor and the eyes in the portraits gazed back. No, not shy at all. She had already had a million questions and now these portraits added dozens more but before she could launch into any of them, they had reached their destination.
"Inside you will find a common room. furnished to fit your needs. Two stairways lead to the boys or girls dorms. If you need any assistance a prefect will always be on hand to assist.
He was going to leave her here? To stay in a dorm full of strangers and a common room full of even more? She didn't know why she assumed she'd be alone. Perhaps because she was used to being alone and quite adept at keeping to herself, having lived half her life with people who generally ignored her. She felt a panic at being surrounded by peers, curious about the new girl, engaging her in conversation, trying to get to know her, and maybe even, Lord help her, wanting to be friends. She didn't know how to do any of that stuff, let alone know how anything was done around here, where anything was, what she was supposed to do... and only a prefect, a stranger, to rely on.
That doesn't mean I won't be if you need me Anya. All you have to do is ask. I will hear."
Anya relaxed a bit knowing that he'd be an ask away. It was as if he'd read her mind or more likely, had seen the sheer panic and anxiety on her face as if he'd just told her she'd be bunking with monsters and serial killer clowns.
"Thank you for that," she said, her tone heavy with relief. She eyed the door. Perhaps with a little more information, she'd feel better prepared for this. "How many are there?" she asked with a nod to the door. "Are they like me? Are any of them new, too? What happens tomorrow?" She bit her bottom lip to stop the stream of questions lest the million other ones burst forth.

Headmaster Ogden
"Thank you for that," she said, her tone heavy with relief. After a pause she continued, "How many are there? Are they like me? Are any of them new, too? What happens tomorrow?" Marius smiled, he couldn't help but do so as he remembered all the wonders and apprehensions of his first days. Particularly Anya's amazement with the portraits. It helped alleviate any guilt he might have for his part in all this... She would be fine, she was strong and would adapt well to this new world.
"Yours is the smallest class, it's dormitories can house up to thirty two students at a given time not including yourself. There are two of you new to the school this year, and I have personally taken care of all your arrangements. There will be many on hand to show you to your classes and give you the lay of the grounds. The others will be there for you, to make sure this is as stress free as possible Anya." The Headmaster kept his tone light so as not to move to fast. "Tomorrow you will be sorted into a house. Quarterly you will be evaluated and at the appointed time you will be moved into the appropriate dorm to complete your studies." Ogden kept his eyes on Anya to make sure she found the strength to step forward. There would be friends for her here. He was aware that may be a new concept for her but it was always how it went. Though Marius did wonder about Kaeden... He would have to rejoin her presently but he would not leave until he was no longer needed here.

House sorting. Quarterly evaluations. Moving into other dorms. She started to feel overwhelmed again but calmed herself. It's not all happening at once, Anya. Take it one day at a time. Concentrate on the now. That helped relieve her. The now seemed much easier to deal with. It involved going through this door... that would open to a dorm of 32 strangers. More people than had been in her non-magic classes but still, far less daunting than the massive amount of students she'd seen in the great hall. At least it offered her comfort to know that she wasn't the only odd duck. 32 others were or had been in her position.
She placed a hand on the doorknob and held her head high in determination. "Alright, then," she said with confidence. She turned the knob and pushed the door open, taking a step before pausing to look at him. "Thank you, Marius." The sincerity of her tone conveyed she was thanking him for all that he'd done for her in this short time as was her use of his first name. It felt a more fitting, sincere way of portraying her thanks for the way he'd gone above and beyond, taking her under his wing more akin to a familial, almost paternal way. The loss of her parents had left an aching void that no one had ever cared to fill. At least for a day, Marius had filled that void. But now, she assumed that was at an end. He'd gotten her acclimated to this world and the start of school tomorrow brought with it the more impersonal roles of teacher and student. Having given up hope and all expectations years ago, this only brought her a pang of sadness as she said, "Goodnight, Headmaster," and disappeared into the dorm.

Headmaster Ogden
"Goodnight, Headmaster," Anya said softly. Disappearing into the dorm before he could say more, their conversation was at its end. Her dismissal had stung him, Marius had not seen that coming. To use his name then switch at the last minute. He knew what she was trying to do. She was accustomed to keeping people at arms length. The Headmaster had been hoping to have instilled some faith between them even if their visit had been brief. It was very important to him, now more than ever since she had come back into his life. He owed her... and them... at least that much. His pain turned into a frown and a dull ache as he walked back the way he had come. Some things would never cease it seemed...

Anya had trouble sleeping but had managed a few hours. Not only was she in an unfamiliar place but there was a whole new world to explore. She found herself wide awake with curiosity as the sun was barely rising. She'd already spent the early morning hours exploring the entire third floor, managing only a quick smile and "good morning" to the portraits that eyed her as she passed them. She wasn't quite ready to stand and have a full conversation with one as she was still wrapping her mind around the fact that she actually could. She'd squealed and nearly jumped out of her skin when the first fire burst from the stone pedestal when she'd neared a wall. She immediately stuck to the center of the path, as far from the fires on either side that ignited to light her path along the way. She rubbed the chills of fear from her arms as she kept going, her fear of fire easing as she acclimated to them bursting of their own accord like some sort of motion sensor. Knowing when they'd go off helped. She perused the museum as someone unfamiliar with historical terminology or events would a regular museum, reading a plaque here and there and gazing at objects and pictures, not quite understanding what she was reading with the scattering of words, phrases, or things that only existed in the magical world. Something big had happened. That much, she understood. There were even mentions of events outside of Hogwarts, in her own world, seemingly right under their very noses. How did she and the people around her not know about these events or even this world? She was done with the third floor and still itching with curiosity. She found the door she and Marius had entered from the night before and gave it a pull. It didn't budge. Annoyed, she eyed it. It was an old castle door in an old castle. The wood had probably swelled and warped, was her logic. It didn't occur to her that it was locked. There was not a lock on the door and she still wasn't used to magic so the thought didn't cross her mind that it was magically locked, nor did it cross her mind that there was a need to keep her locked up on the third floor. She tried more forcefully. "Bloody old thing," she muttered. With a foot on the wall next to the door, she pulled hard, "Come on, you stupid thing. Open!" The door suddenly opened with ease, sending her sprawling on the ground. "Ow." She stood, brushing dust from her clothes, flinching when her hand brushed the side of her hip where she'd landed. She'd have a lovely bruise there. "Thanks, but ow." And now I'm talking to doors. She sighed as she shook her head at herself and headed down the stairs. ***Anastasia leaves for Hogwarts - Corridors***
