What did you think of the movie?I really enjoyed it, a lot more than the first. Not that I didn't like the first one. I loved it! But the story really kicked off in this one! A lot of the kid acting got better, too, though there's still some room for improvement.
What expectations or theories did you have that either ended up right or wrong? My answer is pretty much the same for this as it was for the first one. It's been too long and my cousin had basically given me a rundown of the book. I was expecting to enjoy and it went past those expectations.
Who was your favorite character and why? Least favorite?
Professor Lockhart was definitely a favorite to watch. He was such a ridiculously clueless peacock. Dobby was also a favorite, though some of the things he did were very questionable. He could have killed Harry a few times! Least favorite, THE SPIDERS!!! I HATE spiders!! That whole scene always creeps me out. If I had to go into a cave of spiders, I'd be like, "Yah, sorry, Hagrid, you're gonna die in Azkaban.
What scenes or situations did you like best? Least? Harry and Ron landing on the Whomping Willow was hilarious! Ron with his really high-pitched fear voice was so funny! Any time Ron tried a spell with his broken wand was hilarious. Though I really wish Draco would have had to be the one to eat slugs. I guess it's a good lesson to teach kids though. I loved the dueling club, both seeing Lockhart and Draco sent flying through the air! Least, I'll have to go ahead and say FRIGGIN' SPIDERS again.
What were some of your favorite quotes?Draco: [to Harry, disguised as Goyle] Why are you wearing glasses?
Goyle: Oh, uh... reading.
Draco: Reading? I didn't know you could read.
Arthur Weasley: Now, Harry you must know all about Muggles, tell me, what exactly is the function of a rubber duck?
Lucius Malfoy: Let us hope that Mr. Potter will always be around to save the day.
Harry: Don't worry. I will be.
Dumbledore: You both realize, of course, that in the past few hours you have broken perhaps a dozen school rules.
Harry, Ron: Yes, sir.
Dumbledore: And that there is sufficient evidence to have you both expelled.
Harry, Ron: Yes, sir.
Dumbledore: Therefore, it is only fitting that you both receive... Special Awards for Services to the School.
Ron: Why spiders? Why couldn't it be "Follow the butterflies"?
Hermione: Even in the wizarding world, hearing voices isn't a good sign.
Confusion:Okay, so I have a confusion now. About Tom Riddle. I know he's actually Voldemort as a teenager but I'm kinda confused. How was he able to take on an entire form all on his own that was slowly becoming more solid as Ginny's life drained? Before, he had to use someone as a host. I know what we end up finding out the diary really is (which I'm not saying for spoilery reasons) but is it simply because of what it is that allowed Riddle to take shape?
How do you rate this movie compared to the rest in the series? The first one is definitely a classic that introduces you to this amazing world but I do think I liked this one better, simply for the fact that the ball is really starting to roll. A lot of time had to be spent setting up the world in the first one so you missed out some fun suspense and drama.
If you've read the book, how do you rate this movie compared to the book? What did they leave out? What did they change?I didn't read the book on this one. I think I started with the 4th audiobook?
What do you think of the movie now that you've seen the whole series? I still really love the movies. Even though this one is 12 years old (!!) it still stands the test of time and does not feel dated.
Did you find anything new you didn't catch the previous time(s) watching?I don't believe so! Seen it many times.
How did the movie stand the test of time?Totally stood the test of time. Doesn't feel dated at all. Even the special effects were really great!
