4 out of 5 stars from me!
I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was when I learned that NATHAN FILLION was going to guest star on Lost! It was like my two favorite shows colliding.
Kate was a very lucky woman to have been married to him. It was also very heartbreaking to see her crying when she knew she had to leave. How funny that it was a cop that she fell in love with. Everything would have been perfect if she wasn't on the run. Then again, she probably wouldn't have been in Florida and wouldn't have met him. Still, very sad. It's not surprising that Edward Mars wouldn't agree to stop chasing after her, as much as I really wish he would.
Kevin's vows were ironic and you could see on Kate's face that it bothered her that what Kevin thought wasn't true. "What you see is what you get" and about her honesty. Remember the I Never game Kate and Sawyer played in season 1? Where she took a drink for "I Never been married" and added it didn't last long and she also took a drink for "I Never been in love"? Well, now we got to see who she was in love with and married to.
I really loved how Jack took a jab at Ben with his comment that he wasn't going to help and that he just wanted Ben to understand how he was going to die. HA! Small moment of victory.
Oh my gosh, seeing Jack and Kate together for the first time in so long was such a moving moment! The acting was incredible. I loved the way they both hesitantly tried to reach out to each other through the glass and the way they looked at each other. So good! His refusing to help and not caring that it meant Sawyer being killed really drove her into Sawyer's arms. It was sad to see Jack's expression when he saw Sawyer and Kate on the monitor. He looked crushed and he also looked like he knew he was to blame for it. Now to appease the Skate fans, I'm not saying that Kate only slept with Sawyer because Jack refused to do the surgery to save him, but that it really pushed things forward with Skate.
He agreed to do the surgery and says in return, he wants off the island. Of course Ben agrees but Ben, being the shrewd and cruel man that he is, readily agrees because that Jack wasn't that specific and doesn't know he's on a completely different island. Ben's probably thinking, sure, I'll get you off of Alcatraz and put you back on the island you crashed on. Deal done. Jack doesn't know that though and when he first makes that agreement, I was thinking that after seeing Sawyer and Kate in the cage, that Jack just didn't give a crap anymore and just wanted to get himself away from that hellhole of an island.
But then during the surgery, he makes a small incision in Ben's kidney and uses it as leverage to make sure Kate can get way. He does still care about her happiness and I think seeing her with Sawyer made his drive to save her stronger. I think when they'd taken Kate to see him, Jack was just continuing his game of mental chess with Ben but unfortunately, Kate didn't know that. Also unfortunately, Jack has no idea they're on a different island. It seems Jack's plan is a waste. However, Ben can't go back on his word to get Jack off of the island because said specifically that if he got Ben out of this alive, it was his ticket out. There weren't specifics about complications along the way.
As soon as Ben was under, Danny headed out to take his revenge out on Sawyer. He knew Ben wouldn't let him so he took advantage of not being able to be stopped by him. He said something very interesting on his way. he said that "Shepherd wasn't even on Jacob's list." What did that mean and who the heck is Jacob? I know Ben asked Ethan and Goodwin to go make lists of the survivors and later, Bea gives Michael a list of the people Michael must bring to them in order to set himself and Walt free, but who is Jacob and what kind of a list did he make? Was it that same list Bea had and Jack's name was added or is this a whole different list? Have we met this Jacob? Is he someone Ben reports to? Is Ben not the leader?
Poor Eko's funeral only had a few people. It was really nice of Locke to take that detour to get Eko's prayer stick. I know it meant a lot to Eko. Something on it caught Locke's attention. At the top were the words "Lift your eyes up and look north. John 3:05". I wonder if that was simply a verse from the bible or if there is more to that?
Favorite quotes/moments:Jack: No, I think you misunderstood me. I didn't say I was gonna do it. I just wanted you to understand how you're gonna die.
Ben: Well, Jack. I'm very disappointed in your decision.
Jack: Well, Ben. At least you won't have to be disappointed for very long.
