***Charles, Maeve, Peter, and Deadpool enter from Professor Xavier's Office***
As they moved down the corridor toward Cerebro, dots began to connect on the last time he'd attempted to check up on Wolverine. It had been soon after his future consciousness had left him but Charles had been unable to locate him. Now that he knew Trask had had him and Erik, it made sense.
"I'm assuming Stryker had a team study Erik's helmet and incorporated the technology into their facilities?" At her confirmation, he angled his head more toward Peter in case he was still having reservations in trusting Maeve, adding, "Well then, I'm glad you came to us, Maeve. We might never have found him otherwise."

"I'm assuming Stryker had a team study Erik's helmet and incorporated the technology into their facilities?"
"That's exactly right," she said in a tone that suggested she did not agree with how Trask Industries operated. The thought of how they continued to capture and use any methods necessary to exploit the abilities of mutants, weaponizing them, using them to capture more or disable others, it disgusted her.
"Well then, I'm glad you came to us, Maeve. We might never have found him otherwise."
Maeve merely gave a curt nod. She knew he was working on building a bridge of trust and she appreciated it. Maeve had no idea where she was being led and how it would help them find Wolverine but she practiced this new trust by continuing to follow without asking questions.

"I'm assuming Stryker had a team study Erik's helmet and incorporated the technology into their facilities?"
"That's exactly right,"
Peter moved alongside Charles as the group headed down the hallway. "I'm getting a strong whiff of déjà vu, my dudes," Peter announced as his eyes scanned the long hall, heading down to a fairly large metal door. Peter felt reminiscent as he thought back to the last time they rescued Erik. Though, with the current distraction of coming closer to his biological father, Peter could only hope he could stay as confident and focused as he came across as back in his prime at the Pentagon.
The group finally made it to the large door into the facility. "So, this room is supposed to help us find our claw bro?" Peter had heard of Cerebro by only a select few students, but had never seen Charles in action in Cerebro until this point.

"That's right." Charles came to a stop at the scanning point, pausing to sit still while the door confirmed his identity then began to open. Charles resumed his forward motion, finally adding, "Assuming he hasn't found himself in another Trask facility."
Something told him that that wasn't likely to happen again.
Once everyone had entered, the doors had closed. Charles maneuvered his chair down the path, stopping at the panel at its end. He picked up the helmet from its resting place and turned his head to address everyone. "Keep as still as you can, please," he requested, then faced forward and placed the helmet on his head. Charles closed his eyes and concentrated. The room darkened then became aglow with the lights of millions of silhouettes of lifeforms.
"These lights represent every living person on the planet." Charles concentrated on a close proximity to get his baring, causing the view to zoom in to the portion of the mansion they now stood, the silhouette of people moving about on higher levels above the glowing silhouette of a man in a wheelchair with two glowing silhouettes behind him. It lingered for only a moment before his mind pushed forward and traveled, reaching and searching for the mind of Logan. Charles' direction moved in a forward rotation until he could sense a hint of Logan's mind, then he pushed forward in his direction, moving, moving, moving.
"I think I've picked up on him. He's traveled far from here," Charles said as the image continued to move in a forward direction, the sense of Logan's mind growing stronger until finally, he'd reached it. "Ah, there you are." The movement stopped and the glowing silhouette took on some details to its appearance. "He is in Kenya." Charles' brow creased with a frown as he watched the man they'd been searching for. "It'll take up a good amount of time just to get him and bring him back, assuming he'll agree to help."

Maeve followed Charles and the group through the door. She'd already been impressed by the scanning tech but that was quickly forgotten as Maeve looked around the humongous spherical room in awe, though it only showed a little on her face. As they walked, she braved a peak over the side of the walkway that felt alarmingly narrow in this huge space. The dark depths seemed a mile away, leaving her preferring to stick to the middle of the path as far from the sides as was possible. It wasn't until they'd come to a stop where the path ended at a panel that she'd felt it safe enough to crane her neck up then to each side. "My whole damn house could fit in this room," she thought to herself.
What was the purpose of this room and exactly how did it help to find people? Was finding people Charles' ability? Accustomed to her own privacy, Maeve kept her questions to herself for the time being and learned what she could through observation. This space must serve as a sort of amplifier for his ability. She watched him place a helmet attached to the console onto his head after requesting they keep still.
The lighting of the room shifted to dark before a magnificent display of glowing beacons set it aglow. Maeve looked around, unable to hide her wonder. Millions of glowing beacons of light whose shape gave her no doubt that these represented people, which Charles confirmed as soon as she's thought it.
The scene before them appeared to zoom in from a world view to their little portion of the mansion before moving in a forward rotating fashion. Maeve barely caught herself from throwing her arms out in an involuntary gesture to balance herself, instead closing her eyes for a second to rid the illusion that they were moving. Her bearings gathered once again, Maeve watched Charles' virtual search of the world and finally, Logan had been located. The image took on enough detail for Maeve to recognize it as the man she'd seen photos of from his file.
"It'll take up a good amount of time just to get him and bring him back, assuming he'll agree to help."
Maeve could cut that time in half. She remained in silent, distracted consideration over her options. Erik had told her she could trust Charles. She'd kept her secrets locked up for so long that at this point, it was hard to dislodge them.

One by one the group of unlikely friends followed the Professor’s lead down the long pathway that stretched towards the center of the room. Peter peered over the side of the pathway into what looked like a never ending abyss of darkness, and wondered how long it would take for a dropped penny (or at this rate, a Deadpool) to find it’s way to the bottom.
Coming to a halt at the end of the platform, Peter watched as Xavier put his metal helmet on and explained his process to the group. The lighting of the room dimmed vastly, but only for a few moments as millions of bright lights enveloped their surroundings. For once, Peter’s smart ass lips were zipped shut as he marveled at the glowing sights that surrounded them for a brief few moments before Charles got his bearings on the location of their estranged friend.
“It'll take up a good amount of time just to get him and bring him back, assuming he'll agree to help."
Time and persuasion were the obstacles that stood before them. “Even Kenya’s a bit of a long shot for this speed demon,” Peter hummed and hawed as he would be up for the challenge but knew for a fact that his body would give in hundreds of miles in. That, and the large body of water between the two continents. Even Quicksilver had his limits.

"I hope he tells you to go f**k yourself again." Deadpool then wiped away an imaginary tear from his mask. "Seriously though if that sweet singing ringmaster demands something be ...impaled... I volunteer as tribute."
The lights returned to normal as Charles placed the helmet back on the console. "I'll ask you to watch your language while under my roof." He turned his chair to face them. "This is a school for gifted youngsters, as it clearly states on the entrance plaque." Charles had maintained patience with their visitor in red but it was wearing thin. He immediately removed his attention from Wade as a pointed gesture that nothing additional need be said on the topic. They had serious work to do in a very short amount of time.
“It'll take up a good amount of time just to get him and bring him back, assuming he'll agree to help." “Even Kenya’s a bit of a long shot for this speed demon,”
Charles nodded his agreement. His mouth went into a hard line as he considered other options they may have, though he'd prefer not to bring any of the students into it. Suddenly realizing how quiet their other visitor was, Charles' attention was drawn to her. Maeve was lost in thought, her expression serious and intense as if she was warring internally. Again though, he found he couldn't get the simplest read off her and delving deeper only produced whispers so faint and distant that he couldn't make them out. The notion that something was off about her had been bumping around in his mind since he'd first sensed her outside the office door and as he looked at the three people before him, something suddenly clicked. Three.
A boyish smile of triumph spread across his face. "I believe there's a possibility Miss Charbonneau may be able to assist." He'd been watching her carefully for how she'd react to his statement and seeing her come out of her deep thought in startled surprise confirmed his conclusion.
Charles chuckled as he turned his chair back toward Cerebro and donned the helmet. The room went dark again, the red outline of a man in a wheelchair and two standing behind him appearing, but not a third outline in red or even white. "You're not here. At least, not really." He enhanced the outlines until they could see a mirror image out of the fog of Charles in his chair and only Wade and Peter appearing behind him. "Either you're one of us," he began, the room returning to normal as he removed the helmet and turned back toward them, "or the rest of us have been experiencing a collective psychedelic trip."

"I believe there's a possibility Miss Charbonneau may be able to assist."
"What?" Maeve said, blindsided by Charles' comment and the triumphant way he'd said it if he'd just won a game she was unaware they were playing. Seeing the clever look in his eyes told her he'd figured out her secret. 'How in the hell...' she began to wonder but he appeared to be answering the question that hung in the air before it could be voiced.
"You're not here. At least, not really."
A very odd and cryptic statement but not to Maeve's ears. Maeve watched the image enhance and stared at the empty spot where she should have been. She'd been momentarily surprised but then with the other ways her copy didn't register as normal, it made sense.
"Either you're one of us," "or the rest of us have been experiencing a collective psychedelic trip."
Charles turned back to her and she crossed her arms, scowling at his smug expression. "Funny," she said dryly. There was no point in denying what had been so clearly revealed. His expression turned to curiosity, clearly waiting for her to divulge everything. Ignoring Charles' expectant look, Maeve sighed and simply said, "I'll talk to him." Taking the small bit of victory she could out of all this, she faded out with a smug smile of her own without offering any comments or explanations to appease the curiosity in the room.

"Either you're one of us," "or the rest of us have been experiencing a collective psychedelic trip."
Deadpool's eyes lit up at the thought until Maeve disappeared.
"And just like that she was out of my life. I'm never gonna dance again, guilty feet have got no rhythm..." Deadpool let out a long sigh "You guy's are gonna love Wham!"

“Either you're one of us," "or the rest of us have been experiencing a collective psychedelic trip."
By this point, Peter was completely missing the point and couldn’t be any more confused by this strange exchange between Xavier and Maeve. And then something unexpected happened. Between Peter and Deadpool, the room shook with utter shock as their newly acquainted accomplice vanished into thin air.
”Okay, either the clown in red over here slipped me some sort of crazy psychedelic or that woman just completely disappeared,” Peter questioned rather rashly, “Care to explain what the hell just happened, professor?”

"She's gone to talk to Logan," Charles said, trying to sound as nonchalant as Maeve had. He chuckled, both over Peter's expression and the leftover bit of victory over having finally figured their guest out. "Maeve is a mutant," he explained. "I'm guessing her ability has something to do with astral projection."
Charles started to wheel away from the console. "I knew something was up the moment she arrived. I couldn't hear her. Couldn't feel her mind," he said, tapping two fingers to his temple. "Only when I made an effort to reach out to her mind did I vaguely pick up on something but it was oddly far away." The door of Cerebro opened and Charles wheeled through it. "It wasn't until I noticed only two figures showing behind me in Cerebro that it finally clicked." He turned his wheelchair to face them. "It seems her projected self doesn't register in Cerebro. Perhaps not in other ways as well," he added in distracted thought, then came to another realization. "That's how she's been able to freely move about Trask as an employee. Her projection doesn't register on their mutant detectors."

"She registers on my detectors if you know what I mean!"
Deadpool looked around the Cerebro room and whistled,
"So this is where all the big missions starts." Deadpool gasped placing his hands on his cheeks in a Home Alone kind of way. "We're officially a team on an X-People mission, tell me Professor are we still using the yellow based costumes? How many Minions do you need to skin to make one of those things?"

"So dollface is actually one of us...didn't see that plot twist coming," Peter said in a way that made it sound like his mind had hit some sort of epiphany. His worst fear in this case would be that Maeve was some sort of double crosser, though Charles seemed to trust her. So for now, Peter would allow optimism to cloud the best of his judgement.
"We're officially a team on an X-People mission, tell me Professor are we still using the yellow based costumes? How many Minions do you need to skin to make one of those things?"
"Who said you were coming? So far you've contributed to killing my vibe, and that's not cool dude," Peter was growing annoyed with their companion who had so far contributed as much as a pile of profanities and innuendos, and usually Peter would be all over that if the red and blue sack of ridiculous didn't keep trying to keep stealing the spotlight.

Charles calmly put his hand up to silence the unconstructive bickering.
"It's fortunate that Maeve showed up here, trusting us to assist in freeing Erik. We'd only just brought up the notion to search for him. She has saved us an enormous amount of time, searching, and research. She has provided us with Erik's location and knows the workings of the building he is being kept in. Right now, she is in Kenya working on recruiting help. Why don't we put our energy and concentration into finding a way to contribute before she pops back in to find us discussing uniforms and bickering about who does and does not get to go," he finished dryly with a look to Wade then Peter.
Charles began maneuvering his wheelchair back in the direction of his office, frowning at the thought of her returning to bickering and zero contributions or efforts on their part. The wheels in his mind began turning the moment the ones on his chair had gone into motion. "Wade, you'll go along with me." Charles had a couple tasks in mind and dividing them up would get things accomplished faster, as would splitting up Peter and Wade at this moment. "I'll fill in Hank. He may be able to provide helpful gadgets once we know the details of the building." Finding Hank was usually easy. He was always in his lab. Tracking down anyone else in the huge, multi-leveled mansion outside of class hours could sometimes be timely but not for Peter. "Peter, track down Jean and meet us back in my office, please."

"Peter, track down Jean and meet us back in my office, please."
"I think I can manage that," Peter announced, his ego on full show. Finally, we're getting this party started, Peter thought to himself as he was anxious to move forward with the mission. With a slight grin, both feet lifted off the ground as he zipped out of Cerebro faster than a bolt of lightning, leaving Charles and Deadpool in his dust.

A couple hours have passed.
Charles, Jean, Logan, Maeve, and Peter had finished plans for breaking Erik out of Trask Industries.
Maeve has left a van from the cleaning company at the arranged landing spot with uniforms inside, ready and waiting for the rest of the team who'll be arrival shortly.

*** Charles and Erik enter from Cerebro - Corridor ***
Erik had actually been waiting for Charles to go on with what he was going to say before Hank had interrupted them. And with Charles' act of just silently wheeling away, Erik's confusion or rather annoyance about his friend's unfinished statement regarding Maeve had even grown some more. But well, Charles was Charles, and it would have been pointless to try pressing him for any private information about her. Also, deep down, Erik knew that would have been wrong.
As they entered Cerebro, Erik wordlessly followed Charles' steps... or lanes. This was his friend's territory and he would patiently wait for him to have done his thing to get information about Maeve's whereabouts until he would step in. Okay, he would try to patiently wait, for he wasn't gifted with a lot of patience, especially not right now.

Charles began steering himself down the long platform to the controls. "Judging by her parting message I'm to pass on to you, she won't be happy about us digging up her whereabouts." His tone was full amusement without an ounce of concern. He'd already been feeling Erik's impatience but Charles couldn't resist dangling this last bit of bait, waiting for Erik to bite and ask for the information rather than offering it freely.
With his old friend's and Maeve's strong personalities, Charles imagined Erik would find Maeve infuriating at times, most likely already having found himself feeling as such during her weekly visits to his prison. After all the times Charles had found Erik to be infuriating, it was a sort of poetic justice that his old friend was drawn to a woman who'd give just as good as she got.

"Judging by her parting message I'm to pass on to you, she won't be happy about us digging up her whereabouts."
"You're actually gonna make me ask, aren't you?", Erik finally took the bait. Not that he wasn't bursting to learn about what Maeve's words had been since Charles had addressed it anyway.
"Okay.", he said after a little pause, slightly annoyed and at the same time inwardly shaking his head over his old friend's tactics to make him go crazy about something. "Tell me."

Charles took in a deep, satisfying breath, looking smug as he reveled in the rare moment of satisfaction at Erik's expense. "She said," he took his time, amusement in his voice as he settled himself in front of the controls, "'Tell him not to do anything stupid'." Charles chuckled and picked up the Cerebro helmet. "Well, my friend, I never thought I'd say this but, allow me assist you in doing something stupid."
Grinning, he placed the helmet on his head and pushed some buttons. Swirls of holographic-like images began forming, blocking out the cold metal walls of the enormous room.

Erik grew more annoyed with every further breath of smugness his friend was taking. Alright, he got it. All cards were in Charles' hands this time, but did he have to wallow in this rare feeling of having the whip hand just that much?
"She said,"..."'Tell him not to do anything stupid'."
Erik gave him a look of slight irritation. So that was it? The big mystery of Maeve's last words? "Oh Charles...", he whispered with a shake of his head as he watched his friend picking up the Cerebro helmet. And yet there was laying a slight grin of amusement on Erik's features.
"Well, my friend, I never thought I'd say this but, allow me assist you in doing something stupid."
Stupid would be to not do anything. Did Maeve really think he would leave her to rot in her single apartment somewhere in Virginia after all she had risked to get him out of the Trask building?
"So, can you see her?", Erik eventually asked, maybe a little too early, but on the other hand was he feeling impatient like he hadn't felt in a long time.

Charles was concentrating, the virtual fog world around them becoming more distinct, scenes changing from one place to another. Charles continued to sort through, honing in around Trask Industries in Virginia and working his way out from there.
"So, can you see her?"
"Patience, Erik. Her ability makes her difficult to pinpoint. We don't necessarily have the benefit of starting from where she was last seen and working from that radius. She could literally be anywhere. The other day," he began in distracted conversation as the scenes continued to change, the direction traveling further and further from where she last was, "she just popped on over to Kenya to recruit Logan. Then just popped on back. Easy as you please. There doesn't seem to be a limit to her range."
Charles concentrated on his familiarity of her mind waves, a distinction that could be explained as akin to a finger print of sorts. He picked up a familiar pattern on one of his sweeps. "Ah, hold on, I've got something..." he backtracked, the image turning until it pointed in the direction he felt the pull, then he moved in, noting the state, then town, then street as he honed closer until an old farmhouse standing on its own on a large plot of land came into focus. "She's in there," he said, the image continuing to move in until they were virtually standing in her living room, Charles' mental view projected before them of her lying before them on a couch.
Charles studied her face. The way her eyes moved beneath her lids, the expressions on her face, they were different from sleeping or dreaming. "She's simulating. Most likely means she won't be teleporting elsewhere anytime soon," he noted. Charles let out a slight chuckle. "She just doesn't stop, does she?" He was aware that he should end the link, that they were intruding on her privacy, but seeing the ice pack resting on her torso brought back the concern from earlier. "Some fuel for our side of the argument on why she should let us help. She learned today, the hard way, that she's not completely invulnerable to what happens to her simulation." Charles gestured to the ice pack then finally cut the connection, having intruded long enough.
The simulated fog dissipated and they were once again seeing only a large, empty dome. He removed the helmet and angled his chair toward Erik. "I brought it up on the jet before she disappeared and I think I caught the slightest crack in her resolve."

"Patience, Erik. Her ability makes her difficult to pinpoint. We don't necessarily have the benefit of starting from where she was last seen and working from that radius. She could literally be anywhere. The other day,""she just popped on over to Kenya to recruit Logan. Then just popped on back. Easy as you please. There doesn't seem to be a limit to her range."
Erik gave a slight nod to Charle's explanation, although he was still taut on the inside. He tried his best to see or rather interpret something from the simulation around himself but this was not his field of expertise, to be honest. And so he had no other choice but to wait for his friend to go on and give him more information. And just when Erik thought his habit of impatience would increase to a whole new level, Charles finally spoke up again.
"Ah, hold on, I've got something..." Erik's head rose in expectation. "She's in there,""She's simulating. Most likely means she won't be teleporting elsewhere anytime soon,"
"Then what are we waiting for?", Erik asked as if everyone around had nothing else to do than serving his concerns.
"She just doesn't stop, does she?""Some fuel for our side of the argument on why she should let us help. She learned today, the hard way, that she's not completely invulnerable to what happens to her simulation."
"What do you mean, the hard way? What is that?", he immediately wanted to know in an almost commanding tone, following Charles gesture towards something his friend was able to see while Erik didn't see anything but colors. "What happened to her?" And finally, the simulation dissipated, leaving nothing behind but the large empty dome around them.
"I brought it up on the jet before she disappeared and I think I caught the slightest crack in her resolve."
"Charles, what has happened to her inside Trask?", Erik repeated his question, this time just a little more imperious. "If this human scum did any harm to her, you have to tell me, because I will..."

"It was an accident," he interjected, hands held out flat gesturing for Erik to calm himself before he continued. "When she knocked out a security guard, his gun went off and her simulation was hit by a ricochet bullet. She's alright," he quickly reassured. "Judging by the fact she only needed an ice pack for the damage, it can't be worse than bruising."
Charles shifted uncomfortably in his chair, not only at the remembrance of the feeling of it, but also at possibly provoking Erik's temper once again. "Bloody hell, it felt very real," he finally confessed so Erik would understand for the benefit of Maeve. It didn't need to be said that Charles knew exactly what being shot felt like. That event that had put him in the wheelchair was best kept in the past.
He started to move his chair toward the exit, trying his best to sound matter-of-fact in order to avoid allowing his own worries to fuel what Erik was feeling over this revelation. "She couldn't disconnect her simulation. I could feel that her actual self was trapped in that mental state she goes into when simulating." Charles thought back again to form a hypothesis. "I think the pain hindered her concentration. I'm not sure, exactly, how the situation would have played out, had I not been connected and able to help block the pain enough for her to disconnect. She rebooted her simulation and it was good as new. But when she woke up, I noticed she had a hand to her side."

Erik was glad when finally Charles started to unload all the information. It was a lot, and not exactly what Erik wanted to hear, but he kept listening without any interruption. Besides, this time he wasn't blaming Charles nor any of the others, but instead only Maeve herself. So, not only had she cut herself off without leaving any message to him, but she also had done that while being physically wounded. Wounded because she had helped to get him out of imprisonment. Erik wondered if she even had been wasting a damn thought of how he would feel about that.
"Thank you for telling me, my friend.", he eventually said and actually meant it, after Charles had finished talking. Erik knew how hard it must be for his friend to give away information like that, especially to him. Because let's face it, Erik hadn't been the best of a friend in all these years they knew each other. Surely, it took always two to tango, but that was a matter of fact, although he'd had his reasons. But would his gratitude change his intention to confront Maeve with this? No.
"I'm gonna need the jet, Charles.", Erik eventually said. "Just like someone who's able to fly it."

"Of course," Charles agreed adamantly. Hoping to catch Hank before he retired to his room, Charles opted for the faster route of tracking him down. He raised his left hand and placed two fingers to his temple, hoping Hank was up for making a trip tonight still. With Maeve's ability, who knew where she might pop out to if they waited.
'Hank?' he mentally inquired.
'Readying the jet, Professor,' came Hank's reply.
'Much appreciated,' Charles said back.
Charles smiled. "Apparently Hank can read minds as well," he joked. "He's readying the jet and will fly you out tonight. One last thing," he said, turning serious. "Maeve has every reason to distrust mutants just as much as humans." It was all Charles offered as his tip that Erik's mantra of 'sticking with our kind' would not work on Maeve, though he wouldn't be surprised if he'd already tried using it on her without success sometime in the past. He withheld the reason why. It wasn't his place to divulge such personal information, doubly so as he'd unfairly obtained it from Maeve's mind.
He immediately changed the subject and went back to lightening the mood. Taking in a breath and letting it out slowly, he put on a pitying look toward Erik as if he was sending him off to the battle front. "I wish you luck, my friend. So very much of it," he said, trying his best to hide his vast amusement. "Give us a call when you're ready for your return trip. Hoping it'll be for two."
With that, Charles left Erik to get on with his task so Charles could handle some of the things he'd put on hold. There was nothing further he could do. If anyone could talk sense into Maeve, Charles had a feeling it'd be Erik. He didn't envy Erik for the challenge he was about to come up against. The two stubborn-as-mule hot-heads facing off, intense sparks flying as they verbally spared. They'd either kill each other or--'Huh.' A suggestive smile played on Charles' lips. Perhaps he did feel a twinge of envy. 'Probably best I avoid checking up on them and just wait for the call.' Charles chuckled under his breath and his mind went straight to Moira, wondering where she was, what she was doing. Dots suddenly connected and he had a pretty good idea that Moira was who Maeve's simulation was currently visiting with.
