As a matter of fact, Erik wasn't even sure if his old friend really had rebuilt the school during the last year or not, but not only did he remember to have heard him say so towards this guy coming from the future, he also knew Charles good enough to assume, probably better than anyone else. Also, this was a state of emergency with no time left for ifs, ands or buts.
"1407 Graymalkin Lane, New York. Got it. I'll pop over straight away after work tomorrow,"
Not being sure if she was still remaining in his striking distance, Erik suddenly felt the urge to hold her back to add some more words before she would leave, somehow sensing that she already had been in the move to actually do so. It had been rather an automatic action, like when one was reaching out to another's hand to stop its steps, when it seemed he got a hold on something like a hand indeed. Erik's eyes widened for a brief moment in which he barely could believe what just had happened. That sensation on his skin might not have lasted for longer than the split of a second, but long enough to assure him this hadn't been imagination only.
As this little occurrence also assured him that she still had to be here, Erik addressed her once again. "Charles will also be able helping to expand your powers." He had to pause at his own words, before completely shaking off the thought of their hands to just have met physically at last. "Make use of that. Don't hesitate to bring it up, he'll find out about them either way. Oh, and... just give him my regards." And with that he finally released her from their conversation, sending her on a mission to hopefully get him out of here; until he eventually would come back to get her out of here as well... and also to make them pay.

She took advantage of her invisible state to study him intently without him knowing, seeing it register on his face that he'd felt it, too. Maeve's hand itched with an alarmingly overwhelming desire to touch him again. She fisted her hands in defiance of feelings that attempted to make themselves known from deep within. Maeve could feel her nails digging into the palms of her hands back at her body.
"Charles will also be able helping to expand your powers."
He'd paused and Maeve, still intently observing, could see that he was collecting himself, apparently also having been affected by the contact. It only increased her own urges and Maeve began to grow increasingly irritated with herself. She pressed her lips together into a hard line. 'Don't be stupid,' she harshly lectured herself.
"Make use of that. Don't hesitate to bring it up, he'll find out about them either way. Oh, and... just give him my regards."
Maeve was still glaring at herself over her reactions but she didn't let any sign of it show in her voice. "I'll do that," she said, her voice easy and compliant. Maeve stood and got ready to vanish. The easy compliance with which she'd agreed nagged at her stubborn nature despite the fact she thought all his suggestions were the best options. She turned to him once more, her tone a teasing warning. "Oh, and Erik? These are special circumstances. Try bossing me around like that once you're out and I promise you, it won't end well." Her sentence faded off as she vanished.

Erik had actually expected her to have vanished already, when suddenly her voice sounded once again, having him turn up his head in surprise.
"Oh, and Erik? These are special circumstances. Try bossing me around like that once you're out and I promise you, it won't end well."
And back she was. His Sim... or Maeve. Lavender Girl at any rate. Erik had to reminisce their very first encounter immediately. Yah, that really had been a heated discussion. Adversarial, yes, but not in an aggressive way at all. They just both had their stance and they both didn't hesitate to advocate it. A slightly amused smile appeared on his lips after Maeve was long gone. He actually hadn't realized to have sounded bossy.
Also something else hadn't come to his realization, at least not consciously. To have titled her in his thoughts with his.

Thursday, the day Charles and his crew meet Maeve and agree to help free Erik has come to an end.
Friday morning and afternoon pass and it is now around the time a normal work day ends.

Erik had stopped counting the hours that had ticked away since Maeve left to somewhere else. Maybe to a place that might be home but felt as lonely as he was feeling in this cell? Just maybe. It was not even the loneliness he was bothering though. In fact, he was used to it. But what he wasn't used to was to count the days until every next Saturday in silent fear that she wouldn't come back. Erik was sure though that Charles would take good care of her if anything went wrong. It was just in his nature, broken friendship or not. Anyways, Erik hated to not be able doing anything.
His head raised to the camera's eye once again. Oh, he would let them all pay for this. Eventually. Some more time later, maybe an hour, maybe two, Erik leaned his head back at the hard wall right behind him. It was only Friday. Something he knew without having to take a look at the scratches behind his pillow. Friday. One more day... ***

A couple hours have passed.
Charles, Jean, Logan, Maeve, and Peter had finished plans for breaking Erik out of Trask Industries.
Maeve has left a van from the cleaning company at the arranged landing spot with uniforms inside, ready and waiting for the rest of the team who'll be arrival shortly.

***Jean, Logan, Maeve's invisible sim, and Peter enter from Mobile - X-Jet***
They were turning into the lot of their destination. They'd spent the short drive quickly reviewing the plan. Maeve was glad for the distraction. To this day, being in a car still gave her anxiety, even in her invisible simulated form.
She'd found her invisible gaze wandering to Peter more often than anyone else, knowing he was fighting a separate battle in relation to Erik that didn't have anything to do with the rescue. Maeve was doing the same. The temptation to pop over and talk to him one last time was overwhelming and it was precisely why she was holding back from doing so. She told herself she needed to concentrate fully on the mission and that even the thirty seconds it would take to give him a simple heads-up was too much a risk. Fighting the temptation and the draw she felt toward him was already hard enough and only worsened with each trip she'd allowed herself.
The forced clearing of a throat sounded in her mind, a polite reminder that her thoughts weren't private. Maeve grimaced over the fact that Charles had heard her subconscious admit to something she wasn't ready to admit to herself. Thankfully, Charles respected a person's private thoughts and made no other attempt toward the subject other than to stop her from continuing the private line of thought she'd stumbled into.

While driving the van, Logan hadn't missed the changed smell of someone inside. This might sound a little odd but, yes, he was able to smell people's tension and fear, and all the while of this little road trip there was such a smell standing out. Of course, he wasn't able to see Maeve as she was accompanying them in her invisible state, so he could only imagine the look of uncomfortableness on her face, fitting to the smell, whenever he'd had a look into the interior mirror, being aware of which seat she had been taken, judging by just that. All the while he hadn't said anything though. Everyone had their demons and it seemed like this mission was pretty much scratching at her personal Pandora's box. Also, the fact that she hadn't been saying anything at all was just adding to his supposition.
Then finally they arrived at the destination of their travel. At a place that gave Logan inner chills, to be honest.
"I must be completely crazy to come back here...", Logan mumbled more to himself as he put on the handbrake and pulled the keys out from the lock. Then he had one more look into the interior mirror at the seat he knew invisible Maeve sitting, before, actually a little sympathetically, asking: "Maeve, you okay?"

"I must be completely crazy to come back here..."
Maeve was staring out at the building, thinking she may be a little crazy, too.
"Maeve, you okay?"
Pulled from her thoughts by the direct question, Maeve looked toward the front to see Logan looking directly at her through the rear view mirror. Startled and slightly panicked at the thought she'd accidentally turned visible by allowing herself to become so distracted, Maeve looked down at herself and saw nothing but the chair seat. "Merde!" she said, looking at his eyes in the mirror. Maeve popped from her seat to another vacant one and not long after, his eyes adjusted to her new spot. "How do you know where I am?" she asked, glancing down at her person again and once again seeing nothing.

"Merde!"
Logan couldn't suppress a slight grin while mentally watching Maeve changing from one seat to another and back to the first. In reality, he was seeing nothing of course, but the moving smell gave her away.
"How do you know where I am?"
"You have any idea why they call me the Wolverine?", Logan made her wonder with a counter question, by now the slight grin on his lips grown to visible amusement.

Already baffled at the situation, he only pushed her to flabbergasted when he actually grinned in amusement.
'Because you always growl and bark at people?' she was about to say but then she saw his nostrils flair and her invisible jaw dropped. "You can smell me?" she asked, the fact she was taken aback apparent in her tone. "I am both amazed and horrified." Maeve got a hold of herself and had to chuckle. Logan was finally starting to lighten up and this version of him was much more pleasant. She almost didn't mind that it was at her expense. "Wipe that smirk off your face," she said with mock sternness. "Scaring people with your ability is my thing. Get your own thing."
The good thing about all this was that she'd been able to use it to avoid answering his question. They were parked now in front of the building. The moment of levity had been therapeutic but it was time to start getting serious.

The banter between Logan and Maeve became background noise as Jean placed her fingers to her forehead and closed her eyes, mentally focusing to perform a scan of the building. "A couple of security guards. I'm not picking up anything else," she informed the team. "Maeve was right about the basement level being shielded. There's some sort of barrier I can't see past."
She pushed open the passenger door and exited the van, walking around to the back door. Since the charade involved looking like a cleaning crew, she picked up a bucket and a mop, then stepped back to look at the imposing building that stood before them.

Peter was unaware that Maeve was periodically keeping her eye on him as his attention casually drifted in and out of their company's prep talk regarding the mission. He nodded and verbally acknowledged the important parts, but mainly got the gist of the operation and was highly confident in his part that he was about to play. His speed would play as an important advantage to the team effort as expected, and he was more than ready. But was he really as ready as he thought he was?
Peering out the window, a slight grin grew on Peter's face as he chuckled at the sound of Logan and Maeve sharing a playful banter back and forth, "Aw, the married couple's first road trip fight. How nice of us to be here to witness this milestone," Peter let a nasally snicker escape before turning to Jean who was already at work scanning the building as the van approached closer to their destination. He watched his friend intently as she placed her fingers delicately on her temple and displayed an expression of immense concentration.
"A couple of security guards. I'm not picking up anything else," . "Maeve was right about the basement level being shielded. There's some sort of barrier I can't see past."
"A couple of guards? Easy peasy," Peter said as he clasped his hands together and stretched them out in front on himself, as he assumed that handling the guards would be the least of their worries, "A barrier, huh? That could be a challenge...but nothing we haven't tackled before. We'll figure something out, we always do." Peter spoke reassuringly as he shed a smile towards Jean. As the van came to a halt, Peter followed Jean's lead and hopped out of the van, grabbing a large floor broom.

"Aw, the married couple's first road trip fight. How nice of us to be here to witness this milestone,"
Maeve let out an amused snicker of her own. After how good she'd gotten him back at the mansion, she figured she owed him a couple jibes at her expense. Too bad they wouldn't be around each other long enough for her to earn the next jibe. She quite enjoyed sparring with the kid.
"A couple of security guards. I'm not picking up anything else," . "Maeve was right about the basement level being shielded. There's some sort of barrier I can't see past."
"A couple of guards? Easy peasy,"
"The usual. That's a good sign." They'd discussed the potential that Sommerhaulder may have upped the security. Either he'd adopted the same smug confidence in their current security that Stryker had had or he'd been busy with other things he deemed more important in his first week and hadn't gotten around to it yet.
"A barrier, huh? That could be a challenge...but nothing we haven't tackled before. We'll figure something out, we always do."
Maeve knew of the barriers that kept the basement level secret from outsiders and employees without clearance but she hadn't known they'd gone to the extent of telepathically blocking them. She wondered what poor mutant soul had been sacrificed for that tech.
Logan was still eerily watching her invisible self, most likely because she hadn't made a move to get out. She narrowed her eyes at him for his ability to see past her invisible state. "Hurry up, Dear," she said, playing along to Peter's joke. "The kids are ready to go."
Maeve popped out to beside Peter and Jean with Logan joining soon after. As they began their short walk to the building's entrance, Maeve voiced her new concern. "I didn't know about the telepathic barrier," she confessed, the slightest bit of worry in her disembodied voice. "That was more designed to block yours and Charles' type of ability, Jean, so I couldn't have picked up on it. There's a slight possibility that there may be more things I didn't pick up on. You see, my simulation doesn't react to things as a normal human or mutant," she explained, then quickly added a reassurance to ease any panic that might have started to kick in. "But there's another mutant on the payroll who's been in the building a few times, even once to the basement level with me, and the only tech he required was a special device that stopped him from setting off the mutant sensors. I don't think we need to be concerned but it's best we be on our toes."

Moira took another sip from her cup of coffee as she waited. She had done as instructed, parking at the diner in front of the Trask Industries building and sliding into a booth by the window. She had added a dark non-descript baseball hat to her ensemble and tied her hair back into a bun, hoping there would be no characteristics that stood out about her to any of her fellow diner patrons. Her eyes were drawn to the door every time it jingled with an opening swing, even though she knew that was not the method by which Maeve would be entering. A blur of movement along the road told her the cleaning crew was on its way, so she knew her departure time was near. Shame to miss out on the apple pie, though.

As quick as smirking Logan had made his appearance, as quick he got pushed back by grumpy Logan - maybe not as grumpy as he had been before, or maybe it was actually just his usual expression when being concentrated back on a mission that could pretty much backfire, but with this look that people normally didn't want to cross.
Logan thought that Speedy Gonzales here was a little bit too easygoing. Actually, normally he was rather playing the easygoing guy himself, but this time it was different. And although he wouldn't say so out loud, this place made his hair stand on end - and for a good reason. Neither of them would want to get caught and to experience what he had. This place was just sick, along with its people around.
"Hurry up, Dear,""The kids are ready to go."
It was just then that Logan realized that his gaze had been still aimed at the spot where he smelled Maeve. And although the smirking was mostly gone, he couldn't help joining the funny picture of their little Addam's family road trip. "So, anyone gotta take a trip to the can before we head out?"
A little smirk actually came back to his face once everybody else had left the car. Not that he would start growing to these people... or company in general. Logan brushed this thought off his mind before closing the driver's door shut behind and joining the others outside.
"I didn't know about the telepathic barrier,""That was more designed to block yours and Charles' type of ability, Jean, so I couldn't have picked up on it. There's a slight possibility that there may be more things I didn't pick up on. You see, my simulation doesn't react to things as a normal human or mutant,"
Logan's eyes wandered to Jean for a second. So that's why he'd had this feeling of practically seen through right to the core. Fascinating and creepy at the same time.
"But there's another mutant on the payroll who's been in the building a few times, even once to the basement level with me, and the only tech he required was a special device that stopped him from setting off the mutant sensors. I don't think we need to be concerned but it's best we be on our toes."
Logan vented another sigh. "So, let's get this place cleaned up."

"So, let's get this place cleaned up."
Jean gave a curt nod in agreement to Logan's suggestion, falling in line behind him as they all gathered their cleaning equipment and proceeded to the building's front doors. She wished she had Peter's confidence that everything would go according to plan, or that they'd be resourceful enough to improvise if it didn't, but that just wasn't in her nature. Those were all simulations -- this was real life. If Scott were here, no doubt he'd be telling her to stop expecting the worst. But the telepathic block to the basement levels was a worry. She couldn't fault Maeve for not anticipating such a thing; Jean just didn't like surprises. Something that was rarely a problem for a telepath.
When they finally reached the door, she could see the second set of entry doors through the glass and the box for entering a security code beside it. Above that panel, a small red light glowed angrily, showing that the mutant sensors were operational. If she couldn't get the team past this first hurdle, the mission would be over before it even started. She mentally brought the deactivation code that Maeve had given her to the forefront of her mind.
Jean placed the fingers of one hand to her temple and reached out the other hand toward the code entry pad that seemed so far away. With every ounce of concentration, she focused on dialing in the numbers -- 4, 8, 1, 5, 1, 6. She could feel the buttons give way slightly with the psychic pressure but wouldn't know if it had worked until that pesky red light went out. "Come on, come on," she recited under her breath. "Please." After what seemed like an eternity, the light shifted to a bright and promising green.
With the path now clear, she retrieved the door keys from her uniform's pocket and unlocked the first set of doors. She stepped over the threshold tentatively but was not greeted by blaring alarms. So she went to the panel to then enter the cleaning crew's code that disabled the rest of the building's alarms, pushing the buttons with her fingers in the totally normal and non-powered human way.
"You're up," she then told Peter, knowing he could barely contain himself.

A sigh of relief was projected by everyone surrounding Jean as the little red light on the mutant detector panel flicked to green. "Nice one, Jeanie," Peter nodded at the red head as she produced a set of keys from her disguise and unlocked the set of doors before them. Peter watched avidly as Jean took a few steps forward through the door, only to find to their expectation that the alarm was officially unarmed and that everything was going according to plan thus far.
"You're up,"
Peter bowed his head in confirmation, and with both hands he grabbed the goggles that perched on the top of his head and slid them down to his face. Slipping an earphone bud into each ear, he pressed a finger onto the play button of the walkman in his pocket.
"It's showtime, boys and girls," Peter walked through the doors as the beginning of "Ballroom Blitz" blared into his ears, and as his feet entered the building he was off like a bolt of light.
"It was like lightning! Everybody was fighting! And the music was soothing! And they all started grooving! Yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah!"
Peter was nothing more than a faded blur to the naked eye as he bounced from wall to wall, corner to corner. Yanking wires and covering lenses of security cameras, Peter made sure that they couldn't be seen by any control room security guards. Yet once the fuzz appears on their screens, Peter knew it would only be a matter of time until they came down to discover the break in.

Maeve heard Jean coaching herself. "You've got this," Maeve said, adding extra encouragement in her voice since she didn't have a viewable expression to offer it on. Despite having every confidence that Jean could do it, she still felt nerves. Jean had to, otherwise this was the end of the line. Those damn mutant detectors were one of the worst inventions to mutantkind that Trask Industries had developed. There was no hiding what you were when they stormed places with the handheld version in their possession and now they'd been securing their facilities with them, making it virtually impossible for attempted rescue missions without specific kinds of mutant powers on the team.
Lacking the gift Jean possessed, all Maeve could do was stare hard at the panel on the wall, wishing and hoping those buttons compressed. Relief flooded her when the light changed from red to green.
"You're up,"
"It's showtime, boys and girls,"
"I knew you could do it, Jean," Maeve said, a smile in her disembodied voice while Peter appeared to vanish before their eyes, his speed so fast that he wasn't really discernable. Her confidence in the mission boosted even higher. All her past efforts to free mutants had been tricky and difficult, working on her own and risking so much.
'It's good to work with a team, isn't it?'
The rhetorical question echoing in her head reminded her that her thoughts and emotions were being broadcast to Charles. Maeve knew what he was starting to hint at. She'd caught him studying her during the planning stages and could tell by the look on his face that he was contemplating the right angle to broach the subject of offering her a place in the safe haven of the mansion along with all the help she could use. Maeve had managed to avoid giving him the opportunity but now, he'd gotten her alone, in a manner of speaking.
"Now's not the time, Charles," she muttered under her breath in a dry, 'I know what you're playing at' tone. She kept her thoughts distracted by watching to see the tiny red blinking lights of the cameras start to go dark.
Another eying of the cameras and Maeve could see that they'd gone dark all the way to the elevator, little cords and cables hanging freely, cameras aimed in all kinds of wrong directions. In a few blinds of the eye, Peter had created a huge, messy job to be cleaned up. A smug smile came across Maeve's invisible face at the thought. She'd be the one dealing with the aftermath. Sommerhaulder's ire, pretending to look into what had happened, organizing the investigation, the clean-up, the resetting, boosting of security...
Worth it. Her only dread was Sommerhaulder's ire but only because she had yet to see how he reacted to a situation such as this. She pictured him more of the cool, shrewd, and calculated type, opposite of Stryker's unthreatening immature tirades.
"You're up, Big Bad," she said to Logan. "The security guards will be coming out of that door to the right. I'll let you know when they're on their way." She paused to add lightly, "Try to avoid shish kabobbing them if possible?" then teleported herself into the security room.
Maeve quietly observed the security guards, already deep into gesturing and discussing the monitors that had turned to snowy pictures.
"It's gotta be a problem with the system," the younger one said, looking around the bank of cameras and under the desk. "There's no way someone tampered with all the cameras all at once without us seeing nothin' on the cameras besides the nightly cleaning crew before they went out."
"Just go check things out," the senior security officer, still sitting lazily in his chair with feet on desk, demanded of his underling.
"If it's not a system error, there's only one way they could'a all gone out at once and I'm not going out there alone to fight 20 ninjas," the underling said flippantly, obviously thinking the senior security officer was pushing him around just because he could.
"It's protocol." Apparently the senior security officer also believed it to be system error. He heaved a dramatic sigh while swinging his feet off the desk. "Fine, I'll go with you." He continued to mutter about lazy incompetence under his breath when Maeve popped back out to her team.
"They're heading out now. Both of them."

Logan was watching Jean in silence while she did that mind thing on the control panel. He would be lying if he said he wasn't impressed. Just was he not the guy who expressed praise for anyone. And so he remained quiet with just a slight expression of amazement on his facial features while everyone else took on the job of coaxing the girl.
But then, when Peter started to play out his run of the coyote, Logan couldn't help giving voice to his thoughts after all. "Holy shit..." He had heard the others talking about his talent but haven't gotten to see it until now. Or actually, he didn't get a lot to see except the camera screens that went dark one after another.
"You're up, Big Bad,", suddenly Maeve's voice addressed him. And yet again was he good at exactly making out where she must be standing. "The security guards will be coming out of that door to the right. I'll let you know when they're on their way." Logan gave a short nod before she jokingly added: "Try to avoid shish kabobbing them if possible?"
"Just leave it to me.", he replied in a dry way, knowing her to have teleported herself elsewhere only a second later as her scent had dissipated. And then Logan waited for his turn, respecting Maeve's little request and left his claws in their lock while eying the mentioned door in concentration.
"They're heading out now. Both of them.", Maeve finally informed.
"Only two of them? Tsk, cakewalk.", Logan said before walking past the rest of the team to finally take a position on the playing field right beside the door leading to the security room. One last sniffling of his nose told him that the security personnel was nearing the door already.
The moment the door swung open was the moment the guards got send to dreamland. Logan might not be as fast as Speedy over there but he had a good right hook indeed.
"So, where are the others? I hate to finish right after the warm-up.", Logan stated humorously as for the message but not as for his expression.

"So, where are the others? I hate to finish right after the warm-up."
"Let's not jinx ourselves," Jean cautioned. Granted, Peter had made short work of the surveillance cameras, and an equally agile Logan had done the same to the security guards. But part of mission planning was anticipating all the things that could go wrong. Someone had to be the pessimist.
Jean led the way to the elevator and once they were all inside, an invisible Maeve included, she waited for the doors to slide closed. Taking out the security badge that Maeve had given her, she slid it through the scanner above the control panel. There was a slight mechanical hiss as a second hidden panel was revealed, the one that led to the basement levels. She pushed the button for B5, their chosen destination, and waited anxiously for the elevator to begin its descent.
Even though the trip felt like an eternity, it was probably more like a few minutes. But none of them could really know what was waiting for them when those doors opened again. She looked over at Peter, whose uncertainty was about more than Trask's unexpected security measures. "What are you gonna' say? When you finally see him?" she asked, hoping the thought would slow him down, if only a little.

"What are you gonna' say? When you finally see him?"
As soon as they stepped into the elevator, Maeve knew it was just about time to get the side mission rolling. When Maeve was assured that Stryker's key card still worked, the panel moving aside to reveal the basement level buttons and the elevator starting to descend, Maeve had gotten ready to make her quick excuses for her supposed next step in the plan when Jean's question hit. It was meant for Peter but she couldn't help attributing the question to herself.
Remembering that Charles was tapped in, Maeve pushed that aside to get to work. "I'm going to pop ahead and make sure the coast is clear. I'll wait outside the elevator," she quickly interjected, then popped out.
Maeve's sim appeared just outside the elevator doors of B5. Things were quiet and lifeless as usual down here outside of work hours. No sign of any threats, as she knew it would be. Before she started to move, she mentally addressed Charles. 'Charles, could I have two minutes of privacy?' she asked.
'Yes, that'll be fine. Two minutes,' he reiterated.
Maeve felt the intrusion to her mind leave and knew that the only reason he'd relented was because he'd assumed Maeve was going to share those two private minutes with Erik. Charles had been in her head. He knew her thoughts and feelings where Erik was concerned and she'd given no indication that she had something else at work. Maeve felt bad for deceiving him but again, in her mind, the less the separate missions knew of each other, the safer for each.
Maeve's sim popped out of B5 and into the diner. She looked around with invisible eyes, easily spotting Moira in the sparse crowd of the later hour. Scooting herself in the booth across, Maeve tried her best to speak in a calm, quiet voice, trying to be the least startling as possible when addressing someone in ghost form.
"It's time," she said quietly. "Up the stairs, first office straight ahead," she reminded, speaking fast now that she'd made her presence known. "Any last minute questions?"

"It's time. Up the stairs, first office straight ahead. Any last minute questions?"
At first, Moira wasn't sure if the words that came out of thin air were directed at her. But with the sentences that followed, she recognized Maeve's voice. She did her best to follow instructions and not look startled, but it was a disconcerting situation. She couldn't read her co-conspirator's facial expressions or body language, she just had to go on faith. Faith that Maeve had indeed cracked the armor around Trask Industries and provided a way for Moira to sneak through.
"I would ask if there's time for pie, but...." she mused, while gathering up her things. She left her payment along with a generous tip on the table and headed for the diner door. Once outside, she looked around for the footpath to the Trask Industries building and headed for the front door.

*** Meanwhile inside one of the cells in B5 ***
Erik was so tired of waiting. Of just sitting here and not being able to do anything. Especially when Maeve could be in danger, and that only to help him, at that. If anything will go wrong and put her in danger, he never would forgive himself. But then again, he knew that she was a woman who was pretty much able to shift for herself. As a matter of fact, he might never have met anyone being as brave and strong as she was.
And then there was also Charles. Sure, they might have parted in another disagreement but Erik was sure that he would see great potential in Maeve which would cause him to do her a favor. And he knew her too well to know that she wouldn't give in so easily. Oh damn, she wouldn't. For a little moment, a slight grin appeared on his lips as he had to remember their very first encounter. Never had he thought that she would become such an important person in his life, if not the most important, at that - although there weren't left a lot of important persons in his life nowadays, except the mutant race as a collective. It would be just one little step in Erik's and Maeve's mind to admit to themselves just how important they actually were to each other.
The sudden grin on Erik's lips disappeared as quickly as it had come when his head turned towards the eye that was watching him day in, day out. This time though he was meeting it with less anger but with a certainty of victory instead, picturing some lousy human security guards behind, probably wondering about this look he suddenly was giving them. Oh, they would learn about it soon. Hopefully sooner rather than later...

Without knowing he was doing so, Peter repeatedly tapped his foot with urgency as he stared forward through his silver rimmed goggles at the large, closed doors of the moving elevator. The posing threats on the other side of the door remained unknown, and god knows what kind of sick tricks Trask had left up their sleeves. And then suddenly, it all became real. Peter was about to meet Magneto again, but this time as his father. The same man who walked out years ago before Peter had even been born. Peter's breath quickened, and all of a sudden he let his emotions override his system as he realized he was about to risk his life for someone that might have not done the same for him. Not so sure what he was doing here anymore, doubt began to flood his mind.
"What are you gonna' say? When you finally see him?"
Peter frowned slightly before responding back to Jean as his gaze still remained on the closed elevator doors, "I don't know. I never got that far in the plan...," Peter's voice trailed off rather lost before finally looking over at Jean, "I just keep thinking - what if this is a mistake? The last time we saw each other, I didn't even realize who he really was until it was too late. He left my mom before I was even born...Risking my life for someone that might not even want me, is it worth it?" Peter asked, knowing Jean might not have the answers but rather confiding in his friend over the mental battle that waged on in his speedy little brain.

"I don't know. I never got that far in the plan...Risking my life for someone that might not even want me, is it worth it?"
Jean hated seeing an otherwise uber-confident Peter falter. "Look, what I said back at the mansion, that was stupid," she replied. "The Professor's right -- whatever Erik has done, he doesn't deserve to be locked in a cage or to have his fate determined by people like Trask. He's not a...a lab rat. He's a mutant like us, and he deserves the chance to be free.
"And you deserve a chance to get to know your father," she added, addressing what she assumed was Peter's main reason for being in this elevator in the first place. "Maybe he had good reason to leave, or maybe he's just a nuclear-grade jerk. But Peter, you're not like him. And you know why? Because you're here to help someone else, not yourself. Erik's son is a pretty good guy," she finally declared with an encouraging smile, "even if he has terrible taste in music."

There were some moments of awkward silence between them once the doors of the elevator had been closed. And that quick tapping of Speedy's foot was just adding to Logan's annoyance. "What are you gonna' say? When you finally see him?"Logan's eyes silently wandered over at Jean even though this question was addressed to the boy. "I don't know. I never got that far in the plan...,"Really? He was going to save his dad's ass and didn't even come up with something to say to him yet? "I just keep thinking - what if this is a mistake? The last time we saw each other, I didn't even realize who he really was until it was too late. He left my mom before I was even born...Risking my life for someone that might not even want me, is it worth it?"Then all of a sudden this conversation around him started to become actually more awkward than the silence before. In fact, there was nothing wrong about awkward silence sometimes. Logan though still remained quiet with only the increasing hardening on his facial features giving away how uncomfortable he felt to be right in the middle of this. "Look, what I said back at the mansion, that was stupid,""The Professor's right -- whatever Erik has done, he doesn't deserve to be locked in a cage or to have his fate determined by people like Trask. He's not a... a lab rat. He's a mutant like us, and he deserves the chance to be free."Speaking of... Logan had actually never asked what it was that this guy had done. Well, too late to ask anyway - just as not his problem anyway. Once this job was done, he would call in his chip for this which was to ask the professor about a way to get his memory back, and then he would be off. "And you deserve a chance to get to know your father,""Maybe he had good reason to leave, or maybe he's just a nuclear-grade jerk. But Peter, you're not like him. And you know why? Because you're here to help someone else, not yourself. Erik's son is a pretty good guy,""even if he has terrible taste in music."At about the same time with the ending of Jean's motivational speech, the doors of the elevator finally opened up again. "Thank goodness.", it escaped Logan before walking past them to be the first getting out of this hell. Also, right on time to not get on these kids' bad side, more than he probably already was because he had no idea how much longer he would have been able to listen to this without losing his temper.
"You owe me somethin' once this is over.", Logan muttered to someone he could smell but not see while walking out into the corridor.

"I would ask if there's time for pie, but...."
The soft sound of Maeve's chuckle faded as she disappeared from the diner and returned to the basement of Trask.
Maeve was sure to reappear at the end of the long corridor to give the impression that she'd been there all along when her two minutes were up. Erik was just to her right, through the glass door that opened to the walkway leading to his thick plastic prison. So close that it was hard to resist the temptation to pop in talk to him. It was hard enough, knowing that she wouldn't be seeing him again after today and she was afraid that if she let herself be in his company once more, she wouldn't be able to walk away, especially if he ended up taking Charles' side in talking her into staying.
She couldn't, however, resist the temptation of using her last few seconds alone to turn and look through the glass door to get a last glimpse at a distance. There he sat, staring off as she usually found him. She thought she detected a smile and wondered what he was thinking. Then suddenly, he turned toward her. Her breath caught with the sudden assumption he somehow sensed her but it faded when she saw his face angle upward toward the camera.
Her hand started to move up toward the glass as if about to reach out to him but she pulled back when she felt the sensation of another presence in her mind. Her two minutes were up.
'Everything alright?' The tone of Charles' question echoing in her mind gave the impression he wasn't inquiring just about the status of the floor.
Maeve pulled herself away from the glass and started to head back to the elevator. 'Good to go.' Her mental answer could also be seen as double meaning.
She reached the elevator just as the little light above the doors indicated it had arrived. The doors opened to the view of a nervous Peter, optimistic Jean, and an annoyed Logan who couldn't seem to get out of the elevator fast enough. He aimed that annoyed look right at the empty space where she stood as he moved toward her.
"You owe me somethin' once this is over."
Maeve smirked as she fell in line beside him. "But that would mean breaking my promise of you never having to see me again," she teased before addressing the whole group. "The floor is all clear, as usual at this hour. Only the one person we're here for on it, straight ahead through those doors. You'll need the key card one more time. Peter, there are two more cameras after this door. Jean, that small, strange looking key turns on the control panel to the prison. After we get the first glass door open, there's one more camera between it and the plastic prison."

"I'll let that comment slide, ya know, with our impending deaths still hanging around like a stage five clinger and all. But if we survive this, I'm gonna make you listen to an entire record of Rush, and you're gonna like it," Peter chuckled as he formed a half grin in gratitude for Jean's words, and knew that she was right. Regardless of how the situation would end up going down, Peter felt that taking a chance on Erik was the right thing to do not only as his father but as a mutant wanting the same thing they all wanted - the best possible chance for the survival of mutant-kind. If he turned back now, Peter knew that he would regret it for the rest of his life not knowing that he at least tried, "Thanks." Peter nodded in Jean's direction. Still nervous as hell but with his head still on his shoulders, all thanks to Jean.
"The floor is all clear, as usual at this hour. Only the one person we're here for on it, straight ahead through those doors. You'll need the key card one more time. Peter, there are two more cameras after this door. Jean, that small, strange looking key turns on the control panel to the prison. "I'm ready," Letting out an exhale to ease his nerves, Peter's game face turned up to the party. He knew that it was go time, yet he still felt so unprepared. Yet he had run out of time to think about what he would do once he saw Erik, and knew that he would just have to go with his gut.
Peter braced himself in anticipation and practically had to hold himself back from flying through the sealed doors. Once the doors were open, Peter lost any sort of control he had over himself and sped mercilessly down to the very prison that held Erik. He managed to cover more security cameras along the way, yet his breath began to quiver as he noticed his palms growing incredibly sweaty before beads of sweat began to form on his forehead. What's happening to me? Peter's mind swirled like a tilt-a-whirl, he hadn't felt this out of control since back at the mansion. But was he really in full control this whole time? Peter hadn't realized that he was allowing his emotions to take over until his feet carried him to a full halt in front of the plastic prison. Facing his father at last, Peter's gaze became unmoved from the man in the prison as his entire body became frozen. And here they were again, yet this time it was different. This time, Peter approached an imprisoned Magneto not only as a rescuer on a mission but as his son. And confident Peter couldn't have been so terrified in his whole life, until now.

"I'll let that comment slide, ya know, with our impending deaths still hanging around like a stage five clinger and all. But if we survive this, I'm gonna make you listen to an entire record of Rush, and you're gonna like it."
"Hmm, not sure how your new girlfriend would feel about that," Jean joked. Not that she intended to remind him of the young redhead back home, or even to remind herself of Scott. The mansion, and the people they'd left behind, felt half a world away. But the sooner they got this done, the sooner they would be on their way back. She felt Peter's mind clear of some of its frenetic energy and uncertainty as they exited the elevator. She used the keycard once more to open the secure door leading to a hallway, then she stood well out of the way as Peter sped ahead to take care of the cameras.
"Smooth sailing so far," Jean remarked in a low voice to Maeve as the rest of them walked toward the prison cell, knowing she was still present despite not being seen. Granted, that was probably the last thing she should say or think. With the telepathic shield in place in this facility, she wouldn't be able to seek the Professor's guidance and he wouldn't be able to give it. They were more or less on their own but given their respective powers and Maeve's inside knowledge, she gave herself permission to be optimistic.
"Sorry, there weren't any more security guards for you to pummel," she said apologetically to Logan as they all stood before the catwalk that led to the cell door. Every surface was thick, clear plastic except for the cell's control panel. She inserted the strangely-shaped key that Maeve had indicated into the keyhole and moved to turn it...only it wouldn't turn. She removed it and tried inserting again, but there was no change. "Something's wrong, it's not working." She looked up from the panel and beyond to the man currently inhabiting the cell, desperation creeping onto her face. So close....
