With an angry roar, Professor Rubeus Hagrid's Harley Davidson 'Magickum Magnifico' motorcycle skidded to a zig-zagging halt in the middle of the pumpkin patch next to his hut. Brilliantly-coloured humming-birds hover around his head, occassionally a bird would come to a stop, mid-air, not moving, other of the birds would disappear and re-appear somewhere else around the half-giants' head. Hagrid's dog-companion, Fang, ran to the end of his chain making the animal cough. Fang's tail wagged furiously, Hagrid knelt down and wrestled the hound to the ground, Fang howling, barking, and licking his friend happily. Humming-birds flew away from around Hagrids' head, entering the open window in the hut.  Hagrid unclipped Fangs' collar and slapped the hound's butt. The dog jumped at the sudden strike, but sat back down, watching Hagrid. Hagrid laughed, "You never were one for leaping about all unnecesary, was you Fang?" The dog just looked at his master. Hagrid retrieved his suitcase from the back-box of the motorcycle and walked into his hut. He had been on a 'Care of Magical Creatures' Conference in St. Andrews, Scotland. The conference had been fun, and Hagrid had bought a flock of these lovely time-stopping humming-birds from the market, he wished that he could show them to Albus Dumbledore. Hagrid sorely missed the old wizard. Hargid waved his pink umbrella with a flourish at the cold hearth, producing sparks that were soon blazing away. Hagrid filled his battered copper kettle from a 10 gallon jug and placed the kettle over the flames. The kettle hovered in the air, keeping itself at the optimum point to boil the water inside. Hagrid took a tiny sugar-water fountain and trough, filled the funnel-top with sugar from a pouch and hung the fountain over the open window, Humming-birds were soon flitting around the fountain. Hagrid sat down in his ratty old armchair, called Fang to his side, put a large handful of dogfood on his lap, and stroked Fangs' head as the dog ate noisily. |

Morning classes on the first day of the school year have finished.
Everyone is released for lunch break.

Classes on the first day of the school year have finished.
Everyone is released for the remainder of the day to relax, socialize, work on their assignments, and gather for the evening meal.

Nearly two months have passed.
Yesterday, October 30th, the delegates from the other schools had arrived for the Triwizard Tournament and a celebration feast was held in the Great Hall where the Goblet of Fire and Triwizard Cup were presented.
Today, October 31st, 2017, the Goblet of Fire remains available in the Chamber of Reception for interested participants to drop in a parchment with their name until the Hallowe'en Feast tonight.

A few hours have passed.
It is now time for everyone to gather in the Great Hall for the Hallowe'en Feast where the Champions will be announced.

The night passes. It is the morning of the next day.
Classes are postponed for the week to welcome the visiting schools during Tri-Wizard Championship.
A special visit to Hogsmeade is scheduled for today.
