5 stars from me! Several happy tear moments and sad tear moments! It was an emotional rollercoaster!
First of all, dammit to hell, I had my whole write-up nearly done and my internet page froze up. I lost it all and have to restart. I'm pissed. *sigh* My re-write might be choppy and thrown together, only because I spent a lot of time the first time around and have to start all over with getting my thoughts out.
That Jack/Juliet kiss. I'm just so not feeling any chemistry between those two. Not because I'm a Jater. Even though I'm a Jater, I can still see the chemistry the Skaters see.
Sawyer is being a total asshole to Kate. Sure, Jack says it's because Sawyer cares but he's really using the mean to push away technique a lot. Jack explains that to her and then just straight up tells her he loves her. (SQUEE!!!)
Speaking of mean technique, poor Hurley has been getting that a lot lately from several different people. But he pushed on anyway, saving the lives of Jin, Sayid, and Bernard with his trusty VW bus! And holy crap, the way Sayid snapped that guy's neck with his legs. Damn, boy!
Ben is such a conniving sociopath. He just doesn't hold much regard for the lives of others. He so easily commanded the death of Jin, Sayid, and Bernard and shortly later, orders Mikhail to kill Charlie and oh, Greta and Bonnie need to die too because they just know and saw too much now. Those two ladies have been living alone in exile at the bottom of the ocean for who knows how long because they blindly trusted and followed Ben and this is how he repays them.
I cried sad tears when I thought Jin, Sayid, and Bernard were dead. Those three shots over the radio tore me up. Then we see their alive and especially when Hurley gets on the radio and tells the group those three are alive, I cried happy tears.
Locke! I almost forgot he was in that ditch, dying. I was really surprised when it seemed like he was going to shoot himself, though I just couldn't see him doing that. It looks like he lost the use of his legs again, so I can kind of understand. Being able to walk again was really important to him and it's like he was feeling that not only did the island take that away again, but it had let him get shot and lay dying in a ditch. However, the island, or at least Smokie in the form of Walt, spoke to him and motivated him.
Then Locke has to go and straight up murder Naomi. Holy crap. No trying to talk her out of it first or something. Nope. Just a flying knife to the back. His obsession over protecting the island far outshines Ben's.
We know Naomi's group isn't Penny's but does that necessarily mean they are bad? Ben seems to know who they are working for and in his mind, they are bad, but how do you judge the judgment of a bad guy?
Omg, that entire scene with Charlie in the control room. I cried so hard. First, tears of joy when Penny randomly popped up on the monitor. And Desmond was right there outside the room! After all this time, they almost saw each other and the look of joy on her face when she hears Charlie call out Desmond's name and knows that Desmond is alive and well, I was happy-crying. Then freakin' Mikhail, that cockroach that won't die, had to make Desmond's prophecy come true. Charlie sacrificed himself without hesitation and his last act as the water was filing up the room was to save the rest of the survivors with the 'NOT PENNY'S BOAT' warning written on his hand by the same marker he'd used to write his favorite life moments.
I'm tearing up again just writing about it! The fact that the code was programmed by a musician as a song code and that it was a musician who was turning it off was such a lovely, poetic circle. I could see on Charlie's face how it meant something to him and seemed to solidify that this was meant to be.
Danielle and Alex reunite, finally!! Happy tears!
Okay so those flashforwards! We learned a lot when we realized at the end that they were flashforwards. They DO get off the island! Jack ends up a junky with an obsession with getting back to the island. There are so many more mysteries raised just in that scene!
Notice how he referred to his dad a few times? Telling the pharmacy lady the prescription was written by his father and then telling that other doctor to talk to his dad? The look on the other doctor's face totally has a different meaning when you know that it's a flashforward and that Christian is dead. Does Jack think his dad is still around? Is it because he's drugged out of his mind or that he just can't let go?
So many questions, especially in the last few minutes of the episode.
First of all, who is this Jeremy Bentham that has died that Jack keeps reading about in the paper? Kate knows who the guy is since Jack asked why she didn't go to the funeral. Is it someone they got to know later? Is it someone we all know but was going by a different name? Why didn't anybody but Jack show up for the viewing?
Jack says to Kate that he's sick of lying. About what? Does it have to do with their rescue? The island? What is it that they felt they needed to lie about?
Kate says, "He's gonna be wondering where I am." Who? Obviously Jack knows who she's referring to and this person doesn't know that Kate went out to meet up with Jack.
Jack shouts that they have to go back. Why? Did something happen? Is he feeling guilty? Did he realize that he seems to have no purpose back in the real world and wants to go back to the place where everyone looked up to him and he was a leader?
By the way, the writers gave us a hint about halfway through that these were flashforwards, not flashbacks! Fans didn't figure it out until later. You know the part where Jack looked at the funeral parlor? The camera stays on the name of the place for a bit and I'll never, ever forget the name of that funeral parlor. It's Hoffs/Drawler Funeral Parlor. Hoffs/Drawler is an anagram for flashfoward!
Favorite quotes/moments:
Danielle and Alex finally meeting
ROSE: Say it, Bernard. BERNARD: I am a dentist. I am not Rambo.
ROSE: If you say live together die alone to me, Jack, I'm gonna punch you in your face.
KATE: Hey. Why are you sticking up for Sawyer? He'd never do it for you. JACK: Because I love you.
SAWYER: So you screwing Jack yet? JULIET: No. Are you?

5 stars from me as well!!! Great season finale! Oh no to your first of all mention! I hate when that stuff happens! That's why I started to write every longer text in a text note data and save it several times before I copy and paste it into the thread. Losing a long text is the worst! I like Juliet. But I can understand you're not seeing any chemistry between them. I actually did when they were at the Other's camp, but now it's like they would have skipped scenes. Also, kind of taking away any chemistry between them, when Jack told Kate he would love her. Maybe Jack always did but thinks she'd have stronger feelings for Sawyer. Well, who knows. As for me, Jack can have Juliet, what could give Sawyer the green light for Kate lmao. I don't think Sawyer really wanted to act like an asshole to Kate. But he's just him and probably thought saying something mean will keep her away from him. Sociopath Ben is awesome though! XD Can't wait to learn more about that guy! Instead of tears my face actually had shown only shock, when we heard those three shots. I was like I couldn't believe the writers would do such a thing. Then I felt a little angry about Jack to have been too proud to do what Ben said. I mean, he knew Ben wouldn't care for their lifes. I also could see why Jack didn't though. Anyways, I never really believed them to be dead, as it would be easy to just say so and because Ben had given the command to not shoot them before. But then, maybe he wouldn't have cared. Locke! Was glad to see him being still alive! And didn't really expect him to shoot himself either. And yes, that Naomi scene was a holy crap moment! Locke had become such a badass. I even see him as the only one totally not doing Ben's bidding. That's what makes me fear his death at some point though... That scene in the control room really cracked my heart! I do agree with everything you said about it, Heidi. Tears of joy and tears of sadness. Charlie was such a brave guy! I'm actually not that much of a Danielle fan but felt happy for her to see her daughter again. Yah, that flashforwards were great! It finally made sense in the end. All the time before I was like "when the hell could that have happened in the timeline of Jack's flashback scenes?" XD I really wonder though, if that flashforward is close to the end of the show or if they get off the island and truly get back there at some point? And that coffin! Who could be in there?? O.O Oh wait, reading about a guy's death named Jeremy Bentham confuses me now. I might have missed a close look at the newspaper article Jack had found. So probably then this Jeremy guy is laying in that coffin, or isn't he? Don't want to get spoilered, only told in case I've missed an important part. I wonder if the HE Kate was talking about was supposed to be Sawyer. Wow, that flashforward hint as an anagram is just awesome!! People really get that hint when they first watched??? Awesome fans there outside!

As far as Jack and Ben and those three shots, I don't think it was a too proud thing. He was thinking about the lives of three people verses all the survivors. Ben and the Others have been controlling them, taking them, hurting them. Jack has the chance to make that call and rescue twenty something people but if he hands the satellite phone over to Ben, then everyone, including Sayid, Jin, and Bernard, are all still stuck there and at the mercy of the Others. Ben actually meant it when he told Tom to shoot the three. The Others have been starting to lose trust in Ben and up to this point, it wasn't really their thing to kill people. Kidnap, cage, do tests and stuff, yes, but as the Others have pointed out before, it's the survivors who have killed the Others but the Others haven't taken lives. At least not as of yet! Ben was surprised when he heard that the three were alive. His people seem to have lost faith in him and don't follow him blindly anymore. It's not surprising. He's been getting trigger happy, flippantly telling the Others lately to just shoot anybody that gets in your way and to just take all the women if Juliet didn't mark the tents. I think the fact that he's losing his hold as the leader is getting to him. The name of the person who'd passed way was in that newspaper article. Yup, us crazy ass fans paused and read what we could of it. Didn't do us much good as there'd never been a character with that name before, but judging by Jack's reaction and Kate's recognition of who it was, we figured it's gotta be someone we already know, going by a different name for some reason. Lol, the speculation on Kate's 'he' was definitely one of the things talked about all summer while we waited for the new season! Sawyer? Some other dude we've never met? That one guy she'd been married to before running off again? There were definitely some very smart fans! And also very clever writers. Anything ever seen on screen was always picked apart by hardcore fans. Sometimes it'd be nothing but sometimes, it's amazing how many layers a simple thing shown or said has!
