*** Nora, Javier and Santana enter from Sanctuary - Outside ***
"I can't believe Ezekiel came through with cantaloupe. Do you know how long it's been since I had one of these?" Nora remarked to Javier as she turned the beige-greenish melon over in her hands. Even though they were able to grow some fruits and vegetables at the Sanctuary, they still relied on the other communities to help with feeding everyone. It was the price those people paid for the security afforded them. She took a seat on one of the beds and laid out some of the other supplies from their makeshift market -- bread, vegetables, and drinks. The once, and perhaps future, surgeon had been a model prisoner and had been sufficiently humble and obedient. Santana, however, was still a wild card and even Nora couldn't predict how Negan would treat her in the wake of an attempted murder. But for now, Javier and his daughter had been allowed a semi-private bunk away from the main floor. "Anything else you guys need?" she asked.

"I can't believe Ezekiel came through with cantaloupe. Do you know how long it's been since I had one of these?" Javier walked beside Santana who refused to even look at him. She was proabably expecting him to stand up for her, but what she did was against his wishes. The room was bare but it was better than anything they had since leaving Ohio. Broken down beds but mostly the ground since they started their travels. Javier walked over to the free bed and sat down, while Santana stayed against the wall. "Anything else you guys need?" Javier took a look at the supplies and shook his head. "This is fine, thanks." He looked over to see Santana just staring off, not looking at either of them. What would this sick son of a bitch do to his daughter? What would be the price for Santana's anger. Santana Lopez - tempplay by Lady Lee-o - "Is he going to kill me?" That was all Santana wanted to know, would she end up on that wall of walkers? She did try to kill the leader of this place...

"Is he going to kill me?"
"No," Nora answered flatly. Unsure if that answer would ease Javier's fears or increase Santana's anger. "You're not the first person to point a gun in Negan's face, and I sure as hell know you won't be the last. But people are a resource. Your dad has gone a long way toward earning his keep, establishing goodwill. You...well, you are rackin' up quite the tab, what with the medication, room and board, in-house entertainment. Oh, and that little attempted murder."
She turned her attention back to Javier, exchanging the sarcastic tone for a sincere one. "Your girl's a fighter, Negan respects that. But she needs to learn what's worth fighting for," she advised.

Santana Lopez - tempplay by Lady Lee-o - "No," Well she was happy to hear that but there are worse things than death. Oh, and that little attempted murder." Santana was going to say something but Javier shot her a look and she went silent instead. It was probably best to keep a civil tongue until she learned what her punishment would be.
Javier's gaze softened when he turned back to Nora, "Your girl's a fighter, Negan respects that. But she needs to learn what's worth fighting for,"
"She's lost a lot, trust is hard and sometimes she doesn't think before she acts. We're working on it," She heard Santana make a sound of annoyance and smiled, "It's a long process," He walked to Santana and placed a kiss on her forehead. "She'll make it up to Negan." "Do I apologize or- is that a sign of weakness?" Santana grabbed a water and plopped down on her bed.

"Do I apologize or- is that a sign of weakness?"
"It's not weakness to apologize for doing something wrong," Nora replied to Santana, "but it doesn't cancel out your mistakes, either. People have to follow the rules, or else everything we've built here is for nothing. Negan...." Her voice trailed off as she tried to find the words to explain to both of them what inspired this loyalty, what must have looked like unquestioning obedience to any outside observer.
"He gave us something beyond just surviving," Nora finally said. "Yes, he can be an asshole and a sadist. But he had to be in order to keep everyone here alive. To bring order out of chaos, it comes at a steep price. Trust me when I say that we need your help," she declared, with a pointed look at both of them.
She got to her feet and walked to the door, pausing to turn back to Santana. "Look, I know whenever I got in trouble, waiting to see what my old man was gonna' do to me was the hardest part. If you want to talk to Negan right now, lay all your cards on the table, I'll take you to his room," she offered.

Papi said she would make it up to Negan but how could she do that? How could she make anything right after almost shooting the guy? "Look, I know whenever I got in trouble, waiting to see what my old man was gonna' do to me was the hardest part. If you want to talk to Negan right now, lay all your cards on the table, I'll take you to his room,""I'll just wait, but thanks." She sighed and closed her eyes, she much rather wait it out anyway.
Javier sat down next to Santana and pulled her into a hug, which Santana returned. "As I said before, we'll help any way we can." This place would work... for now.

"As I said before, we'll help any way we can."
"Suit yourself," Nora said with a shrug. If Santana wanted to sit in her room and sulk, that was fine with her. At least she had a father to give her a reassuring hug. "I'll take you to the infirmary tomorrow," she informed Javier, "Introduce you to the doc, let him show you the ropes. Get some rest." Then she exited and pulled the door closed behind her.

Santana Lopez - tempplay by Lady Lee-o - When Nora was gone, Javier turned to Santana and sighed. "Santana," She didn't look at him and turned her body away from him. "This is serious," He walked over and sat down on the bed and reached over and placed his hand on her back. "you could be hurt and depending on the punishment I'm inclined to let him." Now she looked at him, eyes narrowed. "Are you serious?" "Yes, as long as it's not seriously life-threatening." "Wow, thanks, Dad." She pulled away from him and went to the other bed. "You brought this on yourself. What we have here is better than any life on the road. Even under the rules of this madman, at least I know you won't starve or die of illness." "Ooo, maybe he'll throw me in a cell and feed me dog food too- then we can bond over our shared torture together." Her voice was dripping with sarcasm and contempt. "I did that to protect you, to get you well and I would do it again. Listening to the same song over and over and scarfing down dog food is nothing compared to the Marines or my time trying out for the navy seals." "You're a badass, good for you- he's got guns." "And I got smarts, which is more then I can say for you. Rest, you'll probably need it." He walked over to her and pressed a kiss to the top of her head, smiling when she wrapped her arms around him. "I love you." "I love you too." End.
