I'm really curious how the show would have turned out if they had left in the pandemic/virus storyline. Maybe it wouldn't have felt so disjointed. I still enjoyed it but it seemed like there were a lot of loose ends or things that weren't explained well enough.
I don't like Sam's Captain America suit. I'm sorry, I know it's comic-accurate but it looks silly. He's still a badass, with the wings and the shield now, and the helicopter chase sequence was amazing. But still, kinda' silly. And yeah, he gave a lovely lecture to the GRC folks but that doesn't do anything to solve the actual logistical problem of feeding and housing all these refugees with limited resources on a planet that does have borders.
Bucky was able to redeem himself by saving the hostages and crossing out the names in his book. Shame he won't get to enjoy any more beer and Battleship with the sushi waitress, but I guess some girls just can't get past his whole "murderous assassin" past.
Speaking of, I stand by my statement that Daniel Bruhl's Zemo completely stole the show from the two title characters. He actually accomplished his goal of no more super soldiers by killing the scientist, destroying his lab, and taking out the last of the Flag Smashers headed for the Raft. That was a cool twist that I didn't see coming. And I would totally watch a Thunderbolts series led by him, if Marvel ever decided to do that.
And I'm glad that John Walker was allowed a little bit of redemption when he also saved a van full of hostages. I would have been quite happy for him to keep pummeling Karli. I would totally watch a US Agent series with him as well, because people who operate in the morally grey are more interesting.
Unless they're Sharon Carter. I find it really hard to believe that the US government would let her waltz right back into a high-ranking job at the CIA. They're not at all curious about her time away, her shady business dealings, or her finances? That's just idiotic.
