Disney+ and Marvel's Moon Knight series boss teases 'one hell of a ride'By Sydney Bucksbaum November 09, 2019 at 03:34 PM EST We may still be a long ways off from seeing Marvel’s Moon Knight series debut on Disney+ but the new head writer is already promising fans a thrilling show. It was announced on Friday that Jeremy Slater, who adapted The Umbrella Academy comics for Netflix and created Fox’s The Exorcist series, will develop and lead the writing team for the new series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And late Friday night, he took to Twitter to share both his excitement about joining the Marvel family as well as teasing “one hell of a ride.” “It’s no exaggeration to say that joining the MCU is the single greatest honor of my career. I’m thrilled and terrified and deliriously happy,” Slater wrote. “And while I won’t be able tell you anything in regards to story or casting, I *can* tell that you we’ve assembled a room full of brilliant writers who truly love this character, and we’re all hard at work crafting something special for you. So stick around and stay tuned. Moon Knight is on the way, and it’s going to be one hell of a ride.” Moon Knight is essentially a Batman-like vigilante who is either infused with the power of a moon God or crazy, and he first appeared in Marvel’s canon in 1975 with Werewolf by Night #32. He’s had many different versions debut over the years since then, including mercenary Marc Spector who has a connection to Egyptian moon god Khonshu and most recently as Mr. Knight, a consultant dressed in all-white. No information on casting or premiere dates have been announced. Episode 1 Review and Easter Eggs:
We stayed up to watch it right at midnight! Loved the pilot episode! I've always been fascinated by Egypt and the gods and their stories, so that adds an additional aspect to my already extra hype for anything MCU! The ScreenCrush video really helped go into the history not just on the Moon Knight comics, but on Egyptian gods and myths.
Very intrigued by this show so far! It was intense and like a lot of MCU offerings, had its own kind of feel to it. Loved the way they handled the various personalities, how they portrayed them in clever ways. The song choices were also really greatly matched with that. Oscar Isaacs did such a great job in reflecting what it must be like to suddenly find yourself in a foreign place and situation. I can't even imagine what that must be like!
Can't wait to learn more about these Steven (yes, yet another Steven/Stephen in the MCU), Marc, and Moon Knight personalities and really looking forward to learning which personality is the original and how this ever happened to him in the first place.

I knew absolutely nothing about this character, so I had no expectations good or bad. I've also really enjoyed it so far, with all the Egyptian mythology. I hope they don't leave Khonshu imprisoned in stone for too long because he's such a cool character. Oscar Isaac is doing a great job shifting between personalities. Marc really needs to stop fighting near reflective surfaces since Steven is a donut and is of no help in a combat situation. "Did he just throw the gun?" -- LMAO! I'm not a huge fan of Ethan Hawke, but I think he is also doing a great job of being creepy cult leader Harrow. His whole idea of judging someone as "evil" before they've committed any crime reminds me of HYDRA's Project Insight and how they wanted to kill anyone who would potentially be a threat to them. Maybe a little more self-serving than Ammit's goal of saving the world, but still sentencing a whole lot of people to death with no evidence of actual wrongdoing. Since Layla was in Madripoor, I'm guessing she did some business with the Power Broker/Sharon Carter. And probably did shots with Zemo.

Lol!!! The whole reflective surfaces thing is the only thing that pulls me out here and there. Like, he just happened to slam a guy into a random wall that had a little mirror on it. XD But how else would they be able to portray another personality so well? Just hearing the voice isn't as impactful as also seeing that person's emotions on their face.
Yes!! Harrow and his belief in Ammit who judges people before they've actually done anything wrong TOTALLY made me think of Project Insight! If Harrow was really set on destroying evil, he should take the less evil path himself by reaching out to these people who are predicted to do wrong and try to steer them toward a different path.
Loved the Madripoor shoutout! Totally think she did business with the Power Broker, especially since she deals with antiquities. The really helpful ScreenCrush vids pointed that out as well.
I'm really digging this show! Love the ancient Egyptian mythology as well and I love the characters and all his personalities. Oscar is doing an amazing job portraying each. I'm not even thinking about it being one person doing these different voices and mannerisms. It's like I'm watching different people. His way of shifting between personalities is so great. He "talks to himself" so well that I feel like he's having a real conversation with another person.
That scene in the pyramid was also well done. So interesting to see the other gods speaking through their avatars. And how Oscar portrayed Khonshu speaking through him was well done. He looked exactly like someone who was new to doing that, trying to just let it happen but not knowing how to comfortably let it flow.
Oh!! And the night sky when they were spinning back the sky to the past, that was so pretty and amazingly done! I also hope that they don't keep Khonshu in stone for very long and see on other people's comments that they hope the same. He really is interesting and it's fun to see him interacting with Marc and Steven.
Can't wait to learn about this third personality that Marc and Steven don't know about! That dude's got some bloodlust. I'm guessing it's this Jake guy that the ScreenCrush vids talk about.

These ScreenCrush people are seriously amazing!! Here’s a very informative vid they put up about the Egyptian gods and more connections not only to Moon Knight but possibly the MCU as a whole.

EPISODE 4 EASTER EGGS
These ScreenCrush people never cease to amaze me! SO many details they caught that I didn't see. Their videos also make me amazed at the people working behind the scenes of the MCU. The thought and details they put into every movie and show is just awe inspiring. Just imagine, if ScreenCrush is catching that many, how many more are we all missing?
Anywho, I cannot believe there are only two more eps. It feels like we're barely scratching the service. Episode 4 was another great one that left us with a 'WTF is happening' ending. I think everything in the asylum is all just in Marc/Steven's head. Finding out what we all thought was reality was actually a dream or imaginings is a trope that piss people off. It would definitely be a disappointment to me. I think all writers know this, so I definitely do not think the asylum is reality. I believe it's Marc/Steven stuck in a sort of limbo and he'll have to puzzle through what's happening here to find his way back to the living.
Omg, those things in the tomb scared the crap outta me! I was squealing, lol! And that clicking sound they make. Gave me the heebeegeebees. Definite "The Mummy" vibes and when I saw what looked like a book on top of Alexander's mummified corpse, I was like, "Is that the Book of the Dead?! Do NOT read from it!" XD
Layla continues to be badass! I really like her. Every now and again, she reminds me of Evie. Steven's crush on her is so adorable and it was hilarious when he punched himself after kissing her, lol! ScreenCrush says they think it's the third personality that we haven't met yet, but I'd assumed it was Marc cuz he was pissed Steven had kissed her after he'd told her not to touch his wife. XD
I'll be waiting impatiently for next Wednesday!

"Sorry, Mr. Great!" Yeah, that episode definitely took a weird turn. I would hope that this is some sort of purgatory that Ammit has Marc/Steven trapped in. The "It was all in his head" revelation would be too disappointing. Also love that Marc punched Steven after he kissed Layla. I mean, why would the third identity do it? I'm still confused about Layla and Marc's relationship. Were they together/married before the murder of her father? Was he using her to get to her father? When she said that they met because of her dad's death, that confused me. And maybe wait to have that conversation once you're top-side and away from all the bad guys. Definite "The Mummy" vibes with that priest in the tomb. I thought maybe Steven and Layla would look around that room and see that one of them was missing. Just showing that blood trail to the tool in the sand at the campsite didn't give us much of a clue. Super creepy, though. Who knew flares are a Tomb Buster's best friend?

Omg that hippo video was awesome!!! <3 Thank you for sharing!
Episode 5 was definitely a heartbreaking watch! We did stand in line to see Mr. Knight/Steven again last Friday and I did give him a hug, lol!
Poor guys. Steven learning he's made up and Marc going through the tragedy of losing his brother and then being blamed and abused by his mom. So sad! Kids shouldn't be left alone to run around that far from home where there's a place the mother obviously knows is dangerous. I mean, just telling the kids that they shouldn't play in the cave when it's raining isn't enough. If you know of that danger, you go with them if they wanna go out that far from home. But as soon as you see it's gonna rain, you go find their asses. These are little kids we're talking about. Boys, especially, can be extra adventurous with the included little kid notion of being invincible. I mean, if you ever see a little kid get hurt, there's such a look of surprise on their face before they start crying. They don't think bad things are gonna happen to them.
It was hard enough to see that happen and traumatic enough for him to have gotten problems after that simply by blaming himself for his little brother's death. The parents should have been there to comfort him and reassure him that it wasn't his fault but instead, his mother blamed him and showed such hatred toward him. Mental, verbal, and physical abuse. Marc had to wait and hear that reassurance he should have gotten from his made-up identity.
Oh gosh, then Steven falling overboard and turning to sand. I really hope that's not the end of him!! I know he's made-up, but I just adore him. He's such a sweetheart.
HOW is there only one episode left! How the heck are they going to wrap this all up in one episode?? I hope there's going to be a second season or that we get to see a lot of Moon Knight in future MCU projects.

I can't believe it's over! That was just too short. I still feel like we barely scratched the surface, especially with the introduction of Red Scarab just at the mid-end! Man, I definitely want more of Moon Knight and Red Scarab.
Her outfit was awesome, by the way. Loved the wings.
And finally, FINALLY, we got to see Jake, but not until the stinger! So need MORE of this! I don't like that they're really pushing it as a limited series and therefore most likely won't renew just cuz they want to be eligible for the stupid limited series Emmy. Wish studios wouldn't revolve their projects around awards.
Whether they do renew for a season 2 or not, I know it's not the last we'll see of Moon Knight. Can't wait to see what's in store for the MCU that will include him, and hopefully Layla/Red Scarab will be included.
