No release date has been set since this hasn't even been greenlit yet, but it is being considered.
Even though this hasn't been greenlit yet, Joe Pantoliano is signed on to play Ben Urich. They also believe most of the original cast will return.
From Greg's Previews:
Villian Notes: (3/17/03) Speaking recently to "Entertainment Weekly", producer Gary Foster mentioned some of the villains that might be introduced in this sequel: Typhoid Mary, the Owl and Black Widow (not actually a villain). Black Widow is especially interesting, since she is also a long-running Marvel character who is among those Marvel has long considered adapting as a feature film. A Russian ballerina-turned-spy, Black Widow *did* start out as a villain in the comics, but that also made a lot more sense in the 1960s when the U.S.S.R. was seen as the big bad guy on the other side of the Cold War. There have also been rumors that Mr. Fear might be introduced in this sequel as well. Personally, my favorite DD villain is Stilt-Man; and of all of these characters, he'd be the most visually stunning (special effects wise; obviously Typhoid Mary and Black Widow could be "stunning" in a completely different way . (8/19/03) In an interview with UGO, director Mark Steven Johnson has shot down Stilt-Man as a possible villain, referring to him as 'lame.' Ah well, I guess I'll just have to wait until the series gets a director who understands the appeal. Johnson also confirms that Mr. Fear is a very strong possibility.
Based Upon: (5/18/03) This is the sequel to the 2003 hit movie, Daredevil, which topped out at $102 million in the U.S. Both movies are, of course, based upon the long-running (since 1964) character published by Marvel Comics. Two storylines from the comics that are reportedly among the top possibilities for being the basis of this movie are 'Born Again' and Kevin Smith's 'Guardian Devil' (which was sort of a sequel to 'Born Again', in as much that Daredevil is still recuperating from the events of that storyline). My guess is that 'Born Again' will be the one, with 'Guardian Angel' perhaps adapted as 'Daredevil 3.'
Premise: (3/17/03) The exact details of this movie's premise aren't yet known, except that this movie will depict the continuing adventures of blind attorney Matt Murdock, who protects the New York City neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen from crime and evil men as the oxblood-leather wearing vigilante, Daredevil, who is aided by a sort of "radar sense" (actually more like sonar) which allows him to sense things others cannot.
