*Enters from Bridge*
Wash headed to his locker and pulled out some dried fruit, opening the package he smirked and took a few pieces before securing it back in place. Heading over to the table he saw some bread and cut himself a small piece and bite into it. He shouldn't eat before going back to sleep, but he couldn't help himself. Leaning back in one of the comfortable chairs, he ate his bread and fruit and just relaxed. Everything was A-okay now, or was it really? He wasn't sure what happened but he noticed that Kaylee seemed a bit jittery, he was worried about her.

BOOK
Book had found God in a bowl of soup. He had seen no faces, heard no messages, he had simply felt a truth erupt within him. It was more than the simple act of realising something;
It was fitting. Book had always loved food, even when faced with the tasteless protein strips he'd diced up on the plate before him. It worked as a late lunch, at any rate. Book lowered his head and clasped his hands together before speaking in a low voice.
"For food in a 'verse where many walk in hunger; for faith in a 'verse where many walk in fear..." Book lifted his head, briefly picturing the crew around the table. Mal, the hero who didn't know it...Inara, the woman with more wisdom than any shepherds that judged her...Kaylee, the glowing heart and Simon, the selfless man of ability. Jayne, with his hidden moral compass and the wedded couple that shared a love so clear that it warmed Book's own soul to witness. And River, the mystery. "For friends in a world where many walk alone; We give you thanks, O Lord. Amen."

**Jayne Cobb enters kitchen**
The door slide open as Jayne entered with a pupose and still scratching his head in contimplation of the captain's earlier comment. Diven by his stomach he opened the air tight refrigeration unit and opened a can visibly marked Malcolm Reynolds.. as he grabbed a large spoon. He begain shoveling the cans contence into his mouth. With a satisfied grin on his face he sat at the head of the table, kicked his boots up onto the table and enjoyed his pillaged meal.

As Jayne begins to hear the door to the kitchen slide open, he quickly pulls off the label reading "Malcolm" off the side of the freshly opened can of protein substitute, crumpled it up into a ball and alioops it into the trash compactor across the room like a basketball like he and the crew of the Serenity, his family played so many times before in the cargo hold. Patiently awaiting who ever to enter the common area and kitchen area with an incriminating smile.

***River enters***
Lately, it'd become hard to sleep after several of the crew was up and about. It was just too... loud. All the feelings and emotions generated by the people around her had seemed to increase in volume and intensity. She heard but she did not comprehend and it only added to the confusion of separating what was said aloud and what had been emotions unspoken. People didn't take kindly to her revealing what they intended to keep buried.
River had avoided the crew as of late, feeling, sometimes literally, that she wasn't wanted around. But after last night, she felt more confident. More welcome. More part of the crew rather than an oddity they all just put up with.
She took one look at Jayne and smirked. "Captain's not gonna be happy."

The smile washing over Jaynes face vanished as he realized the person entering was not captain tightpants at all instead in his mind it was everyone's favorite little phycopath.. with a full mouth of food Jayne abruptly said. "Well since you like swinging sharp as hell butchers knives around among other things Captain doesn't need to know does he?"Jayne continued to eat while watching river out of the corner of his eye.

"Don't need to say anything," she said with a shrug as she lowered herself into a chair before throwing one of his past mistakes back at him. "Captain'll figure it out. Just like he figured out what went wrong on Ariel." She smiled sweetly as she sat back and made a show of getting comfortable as if getting ready to be entertained.
Her jab had been nicely timed as she could feel others approaching. If she'd have hesitated, she may have missed her opportunity. Not everyone knew exactly what it was that had gone wrong on Ariel and she was sure the Captain wouldn't have liked hearing her bring it up.

**Enters from Engine Room**
The captain stopped just inside the dining area. For the second time this morning he was caught off guard. That needed to stop he thought as he took in Jayne glaring from across the room at River who just smiled back. Mal found it somewhat unsettling.
"Jayne... I was looking forward to eating that."

Jayne simply shook his head in confusion pretending of course. "Uhh... Ain't my ruttin fault that little brain child used her mind control on me. She made me eat it!" Jayne stood and put down the can of canned protein. And sat back in his chair. "Think it went bad anyway.. you should be thanking me!"

"Thanking you?" The thought brought back a memory from the Battle of Du-Khang. He never did get those beans. Mal started towards the counter. "I'd been waiting a good long while and I've half a mind to lock you two in the room together, serve ya right." the captain picked up the empty can of beans and winged it into the trash. "I've killed for a lot less." he said matter-of-factly. Mal gave the room another glance. "Anybody seen Wash?"

"I don't recall it being my dang turn to watch him, Mal.."
Jayne said with a raised eye brow.
"Come to think of it I ain't seen much of Zoe either.. and when the two of them gone missing, usually means one thing. There probably bumping uglies." Jayne said with a wink.
"I suppose I can go root em out after breakfast."
Jayne said as he walked over to the fridgeration unit to grab the large left over pot from the night before so the rest of the crew could eat.

***Kaylee and Inara enter from Engine Room***
INARA
"Good morning," Inara said to the room. She smoothed a hand over River's hair as she passed to the kitchen. "How is your brother this morning?" she asked, gathering the items for tea.
RIVER
River smiled up at Inara as she walked passed her. She could feel the appreciation and it was such a nice change from the worry, distrust, and twinges of fear she'd been feeling lately when people had been around her.
A serious look of concentration came across her face as she momentarily looked off into nowhere before looking back at Inara. "Still asleep. Lazy bum," she said with a teasing smile.
River had started to recognize the wave of feelings and emotions from the people around her. Even though their emotional states varied, everyone had those underlying thoughts or fears or concerns that consistently plagued them. In her head, she'd started to refer to them as their signatures. Right now, her brother's was faint.
INARA
Inara managed not to react to the oddity of River's actions besides a slight pause in what she was doing to watch as River stared off into the distance.
"That's a good thing. He needs to keep off that leg so it can heal." And knowing Simon, he'd only be able to stay put while asleep.

Somewhat surprisingly to everyone, Jayne brought over the large bowl of food substitute and protein along with what ever better tasting items he could find from the refrigeration unit as well as extra plates and utensils and begain setting the table for breakfast for serenitys small disfuntional family.
"Now don't get used to this kinda behavior" he said with a smirk.
Jayne paid close attention to where the better tasting food was placed in reference to where Mal usually sat due to being caught earlier with his left overs just moments before.
"Dig in" he said with a laugh "Nothing like home cookin home on the range" as he spooned a heaping pile of food onto his plate. "It ain't gonna eat itself, and I ain't ruttin feedin ya." Jayne said with a mouth full.

Wash
**Enters from direction of Zoe and Wash's Bunk**
"And a very good morning to all!" Wash exclaimed as he descended the small stair from the hatch to the corridor. "I'm sure everyone would be happy to hear we will be touching down in New Melbourne, baring any unforeseen events, no later than early evening say 6ish. Probably in time to get some real food too." With that last comment, Wash made a face only he could manage as he glanced between both the pot on the table and Jayne who seemed to be settling everyone in...
Zoe
Not far behind her husband, Zoe entered into the room with her usual gait. Her features were neutral and guarded as she proceeded to her seat. "Good morning Sir" she said as she passed Mal. Wash pulled her chair back and she lowered herself down as he joined her at the table.

Besides a slight raise of her eyebrows, Inara was careful to mask her surprise at Jayne's momentary lapse into generosity. And of course, as soon as he opened his mouth, there was the Jayne they all recognized.
"Good morning," she said, smiling at Wash and Zoe in turn as she carried the tray of tea and cups of various types and set it on the table. The only actual set of matching cups on the ship were her own personal set in her shuttle, one of which she usually kept in the kitchen.
Inara poured her tea and settled herself into her seat. "So, what do we have in store for us on New Melbourne?"

"So, what do we have in store for us on New Melbourne?"
The captain took his Que to begin. "S'pose preachers lookin in on Simon so I'll fill the rest of ya in'n the meantime. We got a call from Monty. He's got some cargo'n need of movin." He looked around at each person checking their reactions as he continued. "Seems he's havin bit of engine trouble so we'll be meetin up with him long 'nough to transfer the foodstuffs then we're airborne before anyone's the wiser. Drop point's Whittier. Their moon Ita ain't done with the terraforming yet'n them folk could use the supplements." Mal let that information sink in before adding one last bit to Jayne. "Let's just check'n make sure we're not getting more than we bargained for this time round."

Jayne glanced across the room as he put his plate down on the table.
"I'm thinkin this ain't exactly the kinda cargo we go chattin about across the commnet."
Jayne paused to look around the room to see if anyone else had the same amount of curiosity about the mission details as he did.
"I'll pack on up my girl, Vera for an away game, any chance ill be needin grenades?"
Jayne said with an overwhelming smile.

The captain crossed his arms and leveled his stare, he was not surprised by Jayne's comment. "Jayne its just food and its just Monty. There's no reason for any shootin so lets just pick up the goods and be off. Anyone has any questions of a non-explosive nature now is the time." Mal's eyes rested on Inara longer than the others as he left the conversation in the air.

Inara hadn't realized she'd been studying Mal as he spoke until his eyes settled on her. Why was she trying to retain when the point of her leaving was to distance and eventually forget? She turned her attention to her teacup as she placed it back on its saucer. The jobs obtained weren't always on a planet where a ship offering safe and suitable passage to an Alliance planet could be found.
This would be the appropriate time to bring up the subject of her leaving. But instead, she found herself saying, "Let me know if I can be of any assistance."

"Let me know if I can be of any assistance."
With what Mal could only assume was no intention of speaking her mind the Captain's face hardened just a bit. "That won't be necessary, best you stay put. Won't take but a few hours n'all. Can't have two ships like ours in one spot longer than can be helped." If she was going to avoid the subject, so would he. If she missed her stop well then... was no fault of his.

Inara's features remained serene. The clink of her teacup hitting the saucer a little more forcefully than necessary was the only indication that he'd raised her hackles.
"Well then," she began as she gathered her items and headed to the kitchen, "that will allow me to tend to some personal business while we are planetside," she said, directly defying his 'stay put' order. If he thought she'd start taking orders from him, he had another thing coming.

Kaylee cleared her throat, tryin' to alleviate some of the built up tension a bit. The way they was always fightin', she sometimes wondered if there'd come a day when they'd either just start ràng xìng'ài yīyàng dòngqíng already or the crew would find one of 'em jettisoned out the airlock. Likely the Capt'n, since he'd never hit a girl let alone jettison one out the airlock...well, 'cept for maybe Saffron.
"There's some engine parts gonna need replacing soon. Nothing big but might be good to take a look for 'em if we got the time."

Wash nodded at Kaylee's input. "If Cap'n doesn't need me for more 'n' flyin' us there and off, I could go along with Kaylee to see about parts for the outside. Just a couple things," he reassured Mal. "Last before-flight check, I found a couple places that could use securing. Nothing major. Oh, and the panel for the primary buffer looks to be dented. Could have been space debris." Wash cracked a smile, amused at his thought before voicing it. "We do seem to have a thing for shootin' things out the airlock."

The captain turned as Kaylee cleared her throat. She had a peculiar smirk on her face. He didn't like where that likely would be leading the conversation. "Kaylee I know you well enough, you... just... keep your mind on those parts. Wash'll help you when we touch down. Just don't go crazy." That last part equally aimed at the pilot. Not enough coin for everything, he knew. "Everybody just stay shiny, we'll be there before we know it." He walked out the hatch heading towards the bridge.

Wash poked at some food but he just couldn't get himself to finish. He picked up the plate and deposited it into the freezer to keep it from turning into a rock. With the mission on his mind he mumbled to himself, "Work work work..." leaning in he gave the wife a peck on the cheek and followed Mal's lead out of the Kitchen area.

CAVANAUGH
<enters from CARGO BAY with Shepherd Book and Wendy>
Cav looked around the lounge. The little flowers that only Kaylee would have painted were still there, as carefully maintained as the rest of the ship. He'd seen former enemies turn into friends in this room. This was the heart of Serenity, the closest thing the crew had to home.
"It's been a while since I've been here," he said to no one in particular. "Last I knew, Kaylee and the doc were a thing. That still going on?"

Monty
It wasn't like he had anywhere else to go. The crew was all bout their own business and if they needed him they would say so. After all that had happened it was all he could do to keep his wits about him, ironically. He took another big swig of 'juice' from his flask and leaned deeper into the seat he had taken for his own. Those people had been his family. And now it was all gone. They were all gone. He hadn't let himself face facts until now.
He was only afforded a few moments of reflection until he heard more footsteps approaching. "It's been a while since I've been here," a man said out loud. Didn't seem to be to anyone, but Monty knew that voice. It was the man who had come to their rescue down in the hold. "Last I knew, Kaylee and the doc were a thing. That still going on?" Just because the guy had cooked up a clever scheme didn't mean the former captain had to like him. Especially wearing that uniform. He chimed in, in a rather surly fashion, "Why don't you go ask em. They ain't here."

Well that was one hell of a chilly reception. Wendy looked from the scruffy man to Cav and knew exactly why. She was too worn down to deal with another bout of whatever this could turn out to be. She needed to avoid any additional excitement as much as possible. Wendy tapped into her Companion training, assessing the man before her and then put on a smile, a sweet one rather than a full blown 'I'm gonna rock your bunk' one that could be interpreted as conniving when one already had his hackles and suspicions up.
"Well hello, there," she said, slipping into the chair next to him. She rested her chin in the palm of her hand as she admired his mustache. "Pardon me for being so forward but I just have to say, that crumb catcher of yours is magnificent." She held out her hand. "I'm Wendy. I believe you're one of the people I have to thank?" She gave a genuine sigh of relief and openly confessed, "I never thought I'd get out of their blue-gloved clutches."
