Morning, Gail! To tell you the truth I'm quite excited about that too. Think it's a sign of good luck, so I'm in a good mood
Drake's positive attitude was contagious and she found her spirits brought back up to their usual upbeat levels. "That's a great way to look at it."
Gimme a box with 10 doughnuts! Chocolate frost, I guess I just give some sugar away around town.
"Sure thing!" She turned to head for the counter and caused, looking back at him as he spoke again.
Oh, and pick one for yourself
She beamed a smile at him for his thoughtfulness. She definitely could use some chocolate. Chocolate made everything better. "You are so my hero right now."
Gail was quick to return with the box of donuts. She placed a couple small plates on the table, one definitely for herself and another in case he wanted to eat here. Because the place was mostly deserted and she felt a comfortably companionable friendship with most patrons, including Drake, she sat in one of the empty chairs at his table. "You timing is impeccable," she said as she opened the lid and took out one of the donuts. She turned the box toward him. "You missed quite a scene. Vanessa was in top form today." She rolled her eyes as she dramatically sighed.

"You are so my hero right now."
- Chocolate is the hero! I'm just the messager.
He takes one of the doughnuts.
- Humm! Delicious.
"You missed quite a scene. Vanessa was in top form today."
Drake smiled.
- She probably needs some chocolate too, tell how was this scene?

*Regina enters from Main Street*
Regina didn't bother to take in the the other residents of the diner as she made her way to the formica countertop. The minute one made eye contact, people automatically assumed it was an opening and she was in no mood for small talk. Inside, she was still silently fuming. Who was this Emma Swan?
Standing before the counter, making a point to show that she did not have the time or patience to sit and wait, she carefully went over what she knew.
Henry's birth mother. Foster child. An attitude that made Regina wish that she had her powers again so she could wipe that insolent smirk from her face.
So basically, she knew nothing.
Regina began to tap her foot impatiently. Was there no one working today?

Chocolate is the hero! I'm just the messager.
She took a bite and hummed her appreciation. "Well thank you either way," she said as she chewed, holding a hand over her mouth. Not exactly ladylike to talk while she had food in her mouth but she was hungry and this chocolate donut was too good to stop eating.
She probably needs some chocolate too, tell how was this scene?
Gail nearly choked as she laughed. "Vanessa eat chocolate? She'd be horrified by the very idea!"
She was about to describe what had occurred but the little bell of the diner door chimed and the tone of the diner and its few patrons shifted. Gail glanced behind her and immediately knew why. Her demeanor went from cheery to serious as that little twinge of intimidation struck her whenever Regina entered the diner. "'Scuse me, duty calls," she said in a rush, quickly dropping the rest of her donut back onto the little plate while scooting the chair back. She grabbed a napkin from the table before hurrying to the counter, wiped the chocolate from her fingers followed by a quick swipe of her lips as she rounded to the other side.
Gail was fast and efficient but judging by the foot tapping, not fast enough. "Good morning, Madam Mayor," she said with a tone and smile that was more akin to businesslike, friendly but respectful of their roles. "What can I get started for you? Some coffee, perhaps?"
Normally, Gail would bring a person their choice of drink, particularly in the mornings. She knew what everyone liked, in this case, it would have been coffee, black, but such a gesture toward Regina felt too personal, too casual, as if she might be overstepping and damage the fragile tolerance she'd managed to gain herself from Regina. No easy feat because damn, she was intimidating. And not always in the best of moods. Gail noted the annoyance on the Mayor's face. Like right now, she grimaced inwardly. Can't be any worse than the harpy's stellar performance this morning, she thought, relaxing her own tension with self amusement.

"'Scuse me, duty calls,"
- Sure, no wor...
As Drake turned his head to take a look at the person who just arrived his cheeks turns red immediately "Great, after years living in the same town this still happens..." There's the mayor... and she doesn't look so positive about this day as Drake. Drake just forgets about his doughnuts his attention is all focused in the person that just arrived.
"Quit staring Drake! You look like a hungry dog looking at a bone"
Drake tries not to look directly to the Mayor, but keep focusing on her.

He was staring at her again. Regina should have been used to it by now but still it took all her effort to shake off the past and to focus on the present.
"Good morning, Madam Mayor," "What can I get started for you? Some coffee, perhaps?"
Finally. The obedient one had come to wait on her and Regina put in her order- "Coffee. Black. And a bagel." But inside she wondered where the wolf-girl was who usually took her order. Something is going on here.
Ever since that clock started moving- since Emma Swan came to town- things had been changing. But no matter. Regine thought of the files back at her office and knew it was just a matter of time until she returned things to the way that they were.

"She..." "Ruby... How do you get your eyes to look so full and eye catching?"
Just when she thought she was getting somewhere, the shields came back as suddenly as they had dropped. Eva deftly avoided answering the question and Ruby didn't press it. Sometimes you just weren't ready. Hell, Ruby was twenty three and she still wasn't ready. Hopefully Eva would get over her issues in a more timely manner.
"Sorry kid, I have a lot to work with. Not much hope for you," was Ruby's flippant response. This was what they did. This was normal. This was what Eva needed now. But Ruby was going to throw in something a little new. "Though, if I'm ever in a particularly good mood, maybe- just maybe- I'll let you try my color palette and mascara. It would do wonders with that shade of blue," she finished, gesturing towards Eva's eyes.
"Of course, I think we both know that hell freezes over more often than I am in a good mood." Ruby climbed to her feet and reached behind her towards the door, swiftly unlocking it. It swung open easily. "Go. Tell your dad it was a misunderstanding..." Her arm blocked the door before the wayward teen could bolt through it. "...this time. I catch you doing it again, you are going to be cleaning the bathroom. With your toothbrush. After Leroy's been in there."

"Coffee. Black. And a bagel." "Coming right up," she said, smiling despite the edge of intimidation that came off the Mayor's regal-like air. There was the every so slight stiffness to her posture as if she knew she was being stared at and Gail shot Drake a warning look as she headed for the coffee. Gail put on a fresh pot to brew despite the fact the one on the warmer was only 10 minutes old. Only the best for Madam Mayor. "Will that be for here or to go?" she asked as she retrieved a bagel from the display.

Regina pinched the bridge of her nose, she was starting to get a headache. This day was already over in her mind, she wanted to curl up in bed and forget it ever happen.
"Will that be for here or to go?"
"To go, I have business in my office." She had to find out more about this Miss Swan, because she wanted her gone and she wanted her away from Henry; her son not Emma's. The fact that she was trying to move back into his life, it cause her some pain. "Lets just cut to the chase, make it a double coffee of my usual. Its going to be a long day."

Regina seemed in a worse mood than usual, which unnerved Gail. "Yes ma'am!" Gail said with a little too much enthusiasm and a ginormous smile. She turned and cringed at herself, flexing her jaw after that aching smile. Relax, spaz, she mentally chastised.
Gail grabbed a drink carrier, placing the bag with bagel in the middle and then filled two to-go cups with coffee, placing them diagonally across from each other and a little stopper in each to keep it warm but mostly to avoid any of the hot coffee sloshing out onto the mayor. She shuddered at the thought.
Putting on a more normal, less crazy person smile, she turned back and placed the order on the counter in front of Regina. Gail rang up the order and asked, "Will that be all for you, Madam Mayor?"

"Yes ma'am!" Regina winced at the sudden enthusiasm, she was a tad bit to cheerful for her right now. But she focused on her pone and tried hard not to glare daggers at the girl. "Will that be all for you, Madam Mayor?" Regina looked down and nodded her head.
"Yes, but do me a favor and just put it all in one big cup. Can't very well sip my coffee, walk and eat my bagel with both hands taken up. Can I, Ms. Carvine?"

Gail felt her cheeks heat in embarrassment. "No, of course not," she said on a nervous chuckle. She quickly turned away, hoping that the Mayor didn't catch the proof her of embarrassment.
'Stupid, stupid, stupid, Gail,' she berated herself. She was so flustered around the imposing Mayor that she thought the Mayor had wanted TWO coffees, as if she was bringing one to someone she would be having a meeting with at her office. 'Yah, right,' Gail thought and like always, calmed herself with her own sarcastic thoughts. 'More likely she'd demand the person she'd demanded into meeting her at her office at the demanded date and time to bring her one.'
Gail returned to the register and placed the large cup of coffee in front of the Mayor. "Here you are." She distractedly punched keys on the register as she added, "Is there anything else you'd dema--like?" she quickly corrected. Gail forced a smile in place of a grimace. Jesus, Gail!! What she'd give for a button under the counter that would trigger a trap door under her feet right now.

Ruby had exited the back room just in time to see poor Gail's slip up with Madame Mayor. It took everything she had not to go charging over and give Mayor Mills a piece of her mind. Well, everything she had plus a huge, healthy dose of fear because- though she'd never admit it to anyone- the mayor actually intimidated the hell out of her. Even so, Ruby sidled up near Gail, busying herself with the doughnut display, just in case the other waitress needed any rescuing before Mayor Mills finally rode her broomstick off the premises.
What a day. Eva's little dine and ditch stunt, Vanessa, Mr. Gold AND Mayor Mills. There was truly something wonky about this morning.

"No, of course not," She loved watching that fear behind the lessers. She could smell the fear coming off of all of them, they would never know why. "Here you are. Is there anything else you'd dema--like?" Regina's brow raised, she wondered what the girl was trying to say. Either way, she didn't care right now. "No, that is it." she watched as Ruby came into view, that girl sure knew how to attract a crowd. Think she would wear something more appropriate.

Gail hit the Enter button on the register and gave the Mayor the total. Once the payment was settled, Gail held out the coffee and bag to Regina.
"Here you are, Madam Mayor." Knowing that it was only a matter of moments until this whole fiasco was over, Gail managed a normal smile. "Have a lovely day."

"Here you are, Madam Mayor. Have a lovely day." Regina smiled and actually decided to give her a little bit of a break, "Thank you. Try and relax, Ms. Carvine. Stressing out is my job," She placed a couple dollars in the tip jar before taking her leave.

Speechless, Gail watched in wide-eyed shock with a touch of horror as the Mayor disappeared through the door. She turned to Ruby with the expression still on her face. Lost for words, she pointed a thumb over her shoulder in the direction of the door as a sort of unspoken 'WTF was that?' Composing herself, she stepped closer to Ruby and said quietly, "I think Nice Mayor scares me more than Intimidating Mayor."

Ruby unabashedly stared after Mayor Mills, still waiting for the other shoe to drop even after the woman had left. Apparently she wasn't the only one.
"I think Nice Mayor scares me more than Intimidating Mayor."
Gail's voice broke the silence of the now nearly empty diner, drawing Ruby's gaze to her. With very little warning, a loud bubbling laugh exploded from her throat. A much bigger laugh than Gail's comment would typically have warranted but after the week from hell it was incredibly welcome. With laughter tears in her eyes, Ruby added, "I was half expecting the tip jar to burst into flames."

Gail's frazzled nerves were instantly pushed into hysteria by Ruby's laughter and Gail fell into a fit of laughter alongside her. They were like a couple of loons.
"I was half expecting the tip jar to burst into flames."
"There's still a chance," she said, pushing the pitcher of water closer to the tip jar. That made Gail's laughter bubble up again and she grabbed her side. "Ow, my laughing muscle," she said through chuckles. The stares of the couple patrons left sobered her and she grabbed a couple napkins, handing one to Ruby before dabbing at the corner of her eyes. "Oh, man." She caught her breath. "It almost makes me long for Vanessa's visits. Wait," Gail said, looking as if she was taking a moment to think it through then made a face of disgust. "Noooope. Uh uh. No it doesn't."
Getting back to serious business, Gail said, "So what happened with our little dine and dasher?"

"So what happened with our little dine and dasher?"
"Sent her home." Ruby replied, taking the napkin and carefully dabbing at her own eyes as to avoid smearing her makeup. "God help me, I feel sorry for the little hooligan."
Content that her heavy eyeliner wasn't streaked down her face, she tossed the napkin in the trash. "She reminds me way too much of myself for it to be considered healthy. I'll never admit it to her but Granny is a saint."
Ruby grabbed a wet cloth and began to wipe down the back counters. "Is it just me or was this morning crazier than usual? Is it like the full moon or something?"

"Sent her home." "God help me, I feel sorry for the little hooligan."
Probably because the two had similar rebellious natures. Ruby beat her to that thought.
"She reminds me way too much of myself for it to be considered healthy. I'll never admit it to her but Granny is a saint."
"I'll keep that confession locked away for future blackmail," Gail teased.
"Is it just me or was this morning crazier than usual? Is it like the full moon or something?"
Gail nodded, grabbing a broom to sweep up the crumbs behind the counter. "Definitely something weird going on. Like a shift in the wind..." The familiarity of her statement gave her pause as the movie about the winds changing brought the lyrics into her mind. "'Mist coming in. Like something is brewing, about to begin.'"
She'd spoken the lyrics, half jokingly and half seriously. Still, it made her chuckle. "Chim chim cheree!" she finished with an exaggerated sweep.

Gail had all the open tables cleaned and set up with utensils, ready for the dinner rush that was just starting.
People began to trickle in and she and the other servers were starting to bustle around the place. It was her turn to welcome whoever stepped in next. Gail enjoyed when the place was busy. Some of the other servers complained about it being stressful but she found it a fun, exhilarating challenge. Plus she got to catch up with the people of the town.
Most people were friendly, thank goodness. There were more Callie's and Belinda's than there were Regina's and Vanessa's in the town. She gave a dramatic shudder at the thought of that last person. Ugh. What an egotistical, self centered, stuck up little b--
"Welcome!" she said with a big smile to the couple who entered and thankfully interrupted her downward spiral of negative thoughts.

The workday was done, the bank was closed and she was looking for a little food to go into her stomach. Granny's was the place to be at dinner time, she stepped inside and was immediately bombarded with a greeting. "Welcome!"
"Hello, Gail, warmest welcome I have ever received." Scarlet plopped down at the bar and smiled, "Coffee, please." She grabbed the menu, not like she needed to. She always got the same meal, Cheeseburger- Medium rare, fries, and a slice of pie.

"Hello, Gail, warmest welcome I have ever received."
Gail smiled down at the order sheet she was scribbling onto.
"Coffee, please."
She dropped the notepad and pen back into her apron and gave Scarlet a smile. "Coffee coming right up," she said over her shoulder as she grabbed a mug and the coffee pot. "How was your day?" she asked as she poured, a genuine interest as always in her voice and demeanor. Priding herself on remember how everyone liked their coffee or tea, Gail listened as she reached over and grabbed the creamer, adding a splash and a package of sugar, giving it a good swirl with a coffee straw before pushing it nearer Scarlet.

"Coffee coming right up, How was your day?" Scarlet smiled and watched Gail prepare her coffee, she always made it just right.
"Eh, slow day at the bank. Other than that, nothing has changed. I'm seriously thinking about quitting. My luck the day I quit one of these town punks will try and rob the place." She wasn't sure if she should mention what happened at the bakery, she wasn't really one to gossip. "How about you, anything exciting happen to you today?"

"Eh, slow day at the bank. Other than that, nothing has changed. I'm seriously thinking about quitting. My luck the day I quit one of these town punks will try and rob the place."
"Well, then you'd have some excitement!" She chuckled at the truth behind things being calm and slow in this town. "I'm sure even Sheriff Graham has nothing to do all day."
"How about you, anything exciting happen to you today?"
"Eh," she parroted back with a shrug. "Same ol', same ol'." She could go on about how a certain drama queen had come in and ruined her morning or how she made of ass of herself, fumbling nervously when serving the Mayor but she was talking with a customer, so she had to remain somewhat professional. Plus she and Scarlet weren't close friends that might gab about stuff like that.
She did recall the major gossip of the day. "Lots of people going on about the clock suddenly working again." Gale's voice didn't portray much enthusiasm, which was an unspoken thought that she didn't think it was that big of a deal. It was just a clock. "What's your take on that?"

"Well, then you'd have some excitement! I'm sure even Sheriff Graham has nothing to do all day." Scarlet smirked and nodded her head, she was sure he did. Luckily for her, she had fun things to do on her days off.
"That comes tomorrow on my day off, which means I get to pull out my motorcycle and ride." She knew that the mayor hated the local biker gang but they weren't the kind that caused trouble. "The ladies and I will be doing our annual ride, prepare for a dozen of us at lunch tomorrow."
"Lots of people going on about the clock suddenly working again. What's your take on that?"
"I noticed that, guess the mayor finally paid someone to fix it?" She noticed the clock on her way to work, she found it odd. "Either way, I'm glad things are finally getting fixed in this town." She smiled and put the menu down, "You know what, since times are changing-lets add some pickles to my usual order." She grinned.

"That comes tomorrow on my day off, which means I get to pull out my motorcycle and ride." "The ladies and I will be doing our annual ride, prepare for a dozen of us at lunch tomorrow."
Gail smiled, indeed looking forward to it. The biker ladies were a fun, raucous bunch and they tipped nicely.
"I noticed that, guess the mayor finally paid someone to fix it?" "Either way, I'm glad things are finally getting fixed in this town." "You know what, since times are changing-lets add some pickles to my usual order."
Gail pulled out the pad she'd scribbled onto right when Scarlet had walked in and placed it on the counter. It showed Scarlet's order already written out. Gail added 'w/ pickles' then tore the sheet from the pad and motioned at Scarlet with it. "You're throwing my world off access," she said over dramatically before giving her a cheeky grin.
After quickly clipping the order to the order wheel, she grabbed the plates ready for delivery and got them to their tables, refilled a few drinks, then returned to Scarlet and picked up the previous conversation.
"Actually, I don't think she did--pay to have someone fix the clock," she clarified since it seemed Scarlet had brushed the whole clock thing from her mind. "I think the library's the only way to access it and that place has been boarded up for as long as anybody remembers. Unless someone un-boarded and re-boarded to look the exact same..." Gail shrugged, now considering there might be some merit to the interest everyone had taken.
"It is kinda weird. Archie had crossed paths with Mayor Mills while walking Pongo this morning and he said she didn't seem thrilled when he'd made a conversational comment about it being fixed. That's weird too, right? Or am I desperately looking for something interesting to cling to in boring, uneventful small town life?" she chuckled.

"You're throwing my world off access," Scarlet chuckled as Gail over dramatized her annoyance. That is what she liked about the girl, she was great with everyone and got to know each customer.
"Sorry, sorry, I'm sure it won't happen again," Scarlet smirked before mentioning the clock.
"Actually, I don't think she did--pay to have someone fix the clock, I think the library's the only way to access it and that place has been boarded up for as long as anybody remembers. Unless someone un-boarded and re-boarded to look the exact same..." That was very strange, Scarlet did, in fact, notice that the clock tower was still boarded up. "It is kinda weird. Archie had crossed paths with Mayor Mills while walking Pongo this morning and he said she didn't seem thrilled when he'd made a conversational comment about it being fixed. That's weird too, right? Or am I desperately looking for something interesting to cling to in boring, uneventful small town life?"
Scarlet did her best to stay clear of Mayor Mills, she was glad that the woman rarely made her own bank trips. "I keep my distance from that woman, I can't stand her. I don't know how you serve her every single day and not just throw something in her face." Scarlet couldn't stand Mayor Mills and her attitude, she rarely smiled and when she did it seemed forced. "It's strange she wouldn't seem happy about the clock moving." Scarlet took a gulp of her coffee and smiled, "Perfect cup of coffee, Gail." Scarlet was considering heading to the local bar tonight since she wasn't working tomorrow- she was thinking about getting a few beers and shooting some pool.
