Henry squirmed in his seat in Ms. Blanchard's class, anxiously awaiting the end of the school day. It wasn't that he didn't like school- he loved getting to spend the day with Snow White, even if she didn't know she was Snow White. But today was the day that he was going to start Operation Cobra. He had been making plans all week, ever since he got the e-mail with his birth mom's address in it. Just a few more hours...

Mary Margaret finished writing on the board and set the piece of chalk in the tray, brushing her hands free of the powder. "These are all the kinds of trees that are commonly found here in town and the nearby forest. I want you to collect a leaf from at least 5 of these ten that I've listed. Your parents can help you, of course," she said, anticipating their next question. "Then we'll place them in notebooks with cards identifying each leaf by its common and its Latin name. You have two weeks. Now that is plenty of time, but don't put it off until the last minute, okay?"
She noticed Mayor Mills' son looking at the clock more frequently and urgently than usual. "Henry, did you have a question?" she inquired.

Henry tore his eyes away from the clock to see his teacher looking at him expectantly. He did have many questions for Ms. Blanchard, but probably none appropriate until after she remembered who she really was. But maybe he could get one in there that might jog her memory a little.... So Henry screwed up his face to one side and thought quickly. "How do you know so much about trees, Ms. Blanchard?"

"How do you know so much about trees, Ms. Blanchard?"
"Well, I think it's important for all of us to know about the world around us, especially the trees and the flowers. They give us the oxygen we need, and we give them the carbon dioxide that they need. I guess you could call it...the circle of life," she beamed. "Of course, Mr. Walker knows much more than I do about the local flora and fauna. You should talk to him after school; I'm sure he'll be happy to help all of you with your projects."

Of course Mr. Walker knew about the trees and flowers, he was Robin Hood! Henry had just read that story about how Robin taught Snow White so many awesome things and how they escaped from the bloodthirsty Redcaps. With an impish grin, Henry asked, "Did Mr. Walker teach you about them?"

She mirrored his grin with one of her own. "Mr. Walker is kind enough to consult with me on my botany lesson plans," she replied. "He very much enjoys telling me when I'm wrong. He's a straight shooter that way."
Lest the other children feel neglected, she returned her attention to the whole class. "I think that covers everything I wanted to discuss today. You guys can have silent reading until the bell rings, and I'll be here if you have any questions." She took a seat behind her desk, tucking her skirt underneath and pulling the chair forward. She would try to grade a few papers before leaving for the hospital to do her rounds and check on Ruby's grandmother.

Henry pulled out his book and opened it to the first story though he could barely focus on it. He was finally going to meet his real mom and she was going to fix everything! She'd come back with him and the clock would start ticking again and everyone would remember who they were and she'd defeat the Evil Queen and then they could all be a real family. Maybe Charming would teach him how to use a sword...... Somewhere deep down, almost imperceptible to Henry, he felt a pang of remorse for the woman who raised him. But it was quickly drowned out by Henry's uncontainable excitement at the sound of the end of the day bell. He quickly stuffed his book into his backpack, which he had already filled with provisions, and felt his pocket to make sure the credit card he had hidden there earlier hadn't fallen out. Henry didn't like stealing from Mr. Blanchard but he was sure that she wouldn't mind when she realized he was using it for. "Bye Ms. Blanchard!" He called, swinging his backpack over one shoulder and making a beeline for the classroom door. It was time for his adventure to begin...
*Henry exits to Boston then to Main Street Outside of Shops and Diner*

The clock, which has been stuck at 8:15 for as long as anyone can remember, began to move once again promptly at 8:15 p.m.
Several hours pass. It is now the morning after the clock has started.
A few may have noticed the clock moving last night and those close enough may have realized when it chimed the 9 p.m. hour. Others may have learned by word of mouth or not until they next arrived in town.
