Megara's frenzied steps skidded to a stop as she found herself confronted by a monstrous black wolf at her heels who then terrifyingly transformed into the formidable form of a man cutting off her pursuit. She'd heard the tales of werewolves but never the kind that could change at will, completely independent of the moon's influence. This was sorcery unlike anything even the Dark One could conjure. What was this creature? Her trembling hand hovered over the hilt of the silver dagger in its scabbard at her waist, not at all confident in its power to protect her from whatever this thing was.
"Poor, frightened girl. And don't bother denying it, I can hear your heart pumping your blood rapidly in that little chest cavity of yours. Is it because you got caught? Or because you'll be going home with nothing to show your master but empty hands?"
Oh, so it spoke? And quite well. He wanted the hellhound, too, but for what purpose? She glanced up to see the flurry of bats swirling overhead, seemingly at his command. And as she had been backing away from his intimidating glare, she noticed a pretty young woman behind her, with an arrow notched in her bow at the ready. So he had a partner in his hunt....
"You've caused my friend and I an immense inconvenience today. So you're going to tell us who you are, and who do you work for?"
"Oh, am I?" Megara shot back with a forced albeit false bravado. "Oh, right, I see, this is the part where I'm supposed to cower and beg for my life, is it? I'm afraid someone already beat you to that paltry prize."
She turned and gave a small wave to the archer who had accompanied him. "Hallo, Princess!" Megara beamed. "Yes, I know who you are. I'd wager half the kingdom does by now. Those 'Wanted posters' really don't do you justice. What's the reward up to now? I wonder how much fresh meat and grain those villagers could buy with the current price on your pretty little head."
Megara turned back to the man who had just been a wolf and fixed him with her own serious gaze. "Maybe no one has to go home empty-handed today," she offered. "Because I assure you if I fail, my master will do far worse than anything with which you attempt to threaten me."

Of course, was Snow surprised, to say the least, when her companion suddenly changed into a wolf, but not so much because of that fact itself but because of the rather unsavory way it happened. She'd never seen her friend Red doing her form changing, yet her imagination of that had always been more... sightly? However, they had no time for wondering about such things, so Snow tried to focus back on the task. She might not be personally attached to this whole beast hunt, yet she had made it her business the moment she'd accepted a deal with Dracula. Also, it was nice to have something to do again. She had missed an adventure. However, when the wolf circumvented the young woman, Snow's heart made a little jump, in silence wondering what Dracula's plan might be with her. Nonetheless, her bow was aimed at the stranger woman, giving her new comrade support.
"Poor, frightened girl. And don't bother denying it, I can hear your heart pumping your blood rapidly in that little chest cavity of yours,"
Even though Snow was not too surprised about him being able to switch between forms with seemingly no effort at all, she threw a short glance of fascination over at him before quickly focusing back on her own stance. Maybe Snow would have questioned the side she was fighting on if she saw those dripping fangs and the bloodthirst in the eyes of someone who looked like a man yet probably was a monster himself, watching the captured woman like she was nothing but a welcoming prey in his way. Or maybe she wouldn't as long as that prey wasn't herself. Living in the woods had changed her a lot.
"Is it because you got caught? Or because you'll be going home with nothing to show your master but empty hands?""You've caused my friend and I an immense inconvenience today. So you're going to tell us who you are, and who do you work for?"
"Oh, am I?""Oh, right, I see, this is the part where I'm supposed to cower and beg for my life, is it? I'm afraid someone already beat you to that paltry prize."
Although keeping her straight face, Snow was growing with nervosity regarding the woman's life. Was she really so stupid to provoke a man she just had seen changing from a big black wolf form into a not less intimidating human one? Snow almost wanted to roll her eyes at such naivety when, suddenly, the woman turned around to her with words that she hadn't expected yet, at the same time, didn't exactly left her shocked or something.
"Hallo, Princess!""Yes, I know who you are. I'd wager half the kingdom does by now. Those 'Wanted posters' really don't do you justice. What's the reward up to now? I wonder how much fresh meat and grain those villagers could buy with the current price on your pretty little head."
So what? Snow remained focused, not allowing the words to distract her since she assumed that was the plan. Instead, she reacted with an unfazed and casual remark of her own. "Well, who would have thought a woman who tried fighting a hellhound with a bucket of water could read? I'm impressed."
"Maybe no one has to go home empty-handed today," the other woman suggested as she turned back towards Dracula, after all. "Because I assure you if I fail, my master will do far worse than anything with which you attempt to threaten me."
Snow was surprised at how confident she seemed about this mentioned master. There were a lot of terrifying creatures she'd heard of that could fall into such a description, yet only one who she would consider standing a chance against someone like her new companion. "And does your master have a name?" Snow intervened with a question before Dracula could have said anything to that.

"Oh, am I?""Oh, right, I see, this is the part where I'm supposed to cower and beg for my life, is it? I'm afraid someone already beat you to that paltry prize."
Dracula stood silently and listened to the woman gab on about how tough she was. There was no doubt in Dracula's mind that whoever this woman served, that it definitely wasn't someone of the pleasant kind. No King or Queen's subjects would treat another obvious superior with such distaste. Grinning widely, Dracula found amusement in her antics. He didn't buy a single cent of it, anyways. If this woman hadn't been frightened of the things she'd already seen him do, then clearly she had no idea what he was capable of.
"Hallo, Princess!""Yes, I know who you are. I'd wager half the kingdom does by now. Those 'Wanted posters' really don't do you justice. What's the reward up to now? I wonder how much fresh meat and grain those villagers could buy with the current price on your pretty little head."
"Well, who would have thought a woman who tried fighting a hellhound with a bucket of water could read? I'm impressed."
Dracula raised his eyebrows and turned over to look at Snow. Princess? Impressive, the glee in Dracula's features spoke silently to Snow. He knew she was no ordinary forest dweller. She was too articulate, and exuded born leader vibes right from the start. Although Dracula had no interest in her 'Wanted' status or the bounty on her head, this woman who threatened her wasn't getting the hound or Snow. Dracula would make sure of both's safety.
"Maybe no one has to go home empty-handed today," "Because I assure you if I fail, my master will do far worse than anything with which you attempt to threaten me."
"And does your master have a name?"
Dracula's gaze panned from the threatening woman before him, back to Snow, then in sarcastic amusement back onto the woman on the losing team. "And if we decide we want to hear you out, then surely you owe us a name of this mighty master we should be trembling about?" Dracula pressed further for a name out of this woman, as she obviously needed them more than they needed her. One flick of a finger and this pesk could be out of the way. If she had something to offer though, Dracula would never turn down at least hearing one's plea, "And for the record, whatever it is your master can do, I'm sure I've already done it, my dear. So, speak." Dracula commanded, after unapologetically boasting of his own powerful capabilities.

"You must be new here to speak so dismissively of the Dark One," Megara cautioned. "If I dare disobey him, my life is forfeit. Along with that of my family, perhaps my whole village. He wants the hellhound, or at least one of its teeth. That water was blessed with a holy spell; it was supposed to calm the creature, counter the sulphur and brimstone that fuels it."
She leaned to the right, looking past her opponent to see the hellhound still happily nawing away at the fresh meat loaded on the cart. "And now we all just have a very wet, very angry dog. But at least he's no longer hungry."

Snow was glad to have backup from her new companion. Sure, she wasn't in need of that since she'd always been good at making her position clear to somebody all on her own, but it was good to know that Dracula seemed to see them as a team as well.
"You must be new here to speak so dismissively of the Dark One,"
At that name, a slight shock was seen on Snow's features after all, even though she wasn't even too surprised. It was more like the confirmation of something she already had been fearing, yet she was trying to hide the displeasure about the news who her master was.
"If I dare disobey him, my life is forfeit. Along with that of my family, perhaps my whole village. He wants the hellhound, or at least one of its teeth. That water was blessed with a holy spell; it was supposed to calm the creature, counter the sulphur and brimstone that fuels it."
When she went on, Snow felt almost sorry for the young woman. Why would somebody bind themselves to the Dark One? There probably was some tragic story behind. Well, she quickly reminded herself to not be that emotional person anymore. This was not her story and not her problem.
"And now we all just have a very wet, very angry dog. But at least he's no longer hungry."
Snow turned back around to her companion, silently asking him for their next step since this was his pet not theirs. She just hoped that he had a plan.

"And now we all just have a very wet, very angry dog. But at least he's no longer hungry."
Dracula's eyebrows raised slightly in surprise. Out of all the masters to serve, he did not quite expect to hear her utter that it was the Dark One she serviced. Dracula knew a thing or two of this foe, for he had also been hunting him down on the side for his own personal gain. He knew that the Dark One was not a force to be glad to devote one's life to, so he could only wonder what in the world the Dark One held over this woman's head to make her one of his minions. The last thing Dracula wanted to see was the Dark One gain anything, but he also wasn't completely heartless and knew this woman feared for her life.
"Very well," Dracula spoke with a new level of understanding as his hand disappeared into the chest of his suit momentarily to retrieve a small white flute, "Surely this should do the trick," Placing the mouth piece of the flute up to his lips, Dracula blew gently through the flute and began to play a soft and simple lullaby. The song echoed in the forest around them, reaching the ears of the large, wet hellhound who perked up at the sound. Full of dinner, the hellhound did not try to fight the lullaby as it rolled onto the ground. The sweet song began to soothe him gently into a deep sleep. Dracula stopped playing the flute as soon as the hellhound was fast asleep.
"One tooth. And don't think about trying anything funny, we'll be watching," Dracula forewarned the woman sternly before softening for a brief and rare moment, "And dear girl...when you bring the Dark One what he has asked of you, I do wish he may have mercy and release you of your bonds." Dracula meant every word, for he fully believed one that serves their master should do their duty out of loyalty and honor, not threats and blackmail. Dracula knew that he was a monster himself, but he also knew that this girl deserved to place her service in someone much better. Someone such as himself.

"Very well. Surely this should do the trick."
A flute? That was his secret weapon against this vicious, otherworldly beast? Megara scoffed as a tune from the flute filled the forest. She continued to watch in amazement as the hellhound ceased its ravenous feeding and eased itself to the ground, until it had fallen asleep. So the flute must have been enchanted, along with the music it produced. She looked back to the strange man in hopes of an explanation but was unsurprised to find he would not be offering one.
"One tooth. And don't think about trying anything funny, we'll be watching. And dear girl...when you bring the Dark One what he has asked of you, I do wish he may have mercy and release you of your bonds."
"Only death will free from this bond -- mine, or his," Megara stated plainly. She may be bound in servitude to the Dark One, but she needn't be cheerful about it. And this man who could change into a wolf and back, control a swarm of bats, and lull a demonic dog to sleep, might just have the power to challenge the Dark One. If he chose to do so.
As agreed, Megara approached the sleeping hellhound and with some effort pried a sharp, jagged tooth from its open mouth. Holding her breath the whole time, worried that it may awaken. She dropped the tooth into a satchel hanging from her belt, then tightened it and returned to where the man and woman were waiting. "See, everyone goes home happy," she declared with a bright smile. "And I am quite grateful for the assistance of the bandit princess and for the concern from you, sir."
She stepped closer and lowered her voice, looking deep into those dark eyes. "But a word of advice: if your travels in this realm have kept you clear of the Dark One, you would do well to keep it that way," she cautioned.

When Dracula produced a flute with which he took the hellhound to sleep, as if it was the easiest thing to do, there was one prior question on Snow's mind. Why had he not make use of it earlier? With an inner shake of her head, she turned her attention back to the conversation between him and the young woman, still standing alongside of them while it seemed uncertain on which side she was actually standing. Bringing up the Dark One, even if as a master, would not mandatorily mean that she was on his, nor theirs, for that matter. Snow had heard enough stories about that creature, even though she preferred to see things for herself before passing judgment on anyone, never mind who.
"One tooth. And don't think about trying anything funny, we'll be watching. And dear girl...when you bring the Dark One what he has asked of you, I do wish he may have mercy and release you of your bonds."
"Only death will free from this bond -- mine, or his,"
And there it was. The little message, hidden in that words, telling Snow how desperate this woman was or how desperate she thought her to be. This woman was standing on no side at all, at the very most, on the side of life. Snow would never blame her for that, although, to her, it had always been more important to stay true to herself rather than serving someone who walked on a wrong path. For a short moment, her eyes were wandering towards the vampire. Was she really still sticking to her own codex? Or had the time in the forests made her walk on a grey path even? She shrugged that thought off while the conversation around her went on, watched the young woman as she rooted out one of the hellhound's teeth.
"See, everyone goes home happy,""And I am quite grateful for the assistance of the bandit princess and for the concern from you, sir.""But a word of advice: if your travels in this realm have kept you clear of the Dark One, you would do well to keep it that way,"
Snow remained quiet, observing her companion, waiting for his reaction to the woman's words. She just felt like this was something between the two of them, maybe even between him and the Dark One, as it seemed that he rose with interest in that creature. Snow could see this spark in his dark eyes while the other sent a warning.

"See, everyone goes home happy,""And I am quite grateful for the assistance of the bandit princess and for the concern from you, sir.""But a word of advice: if your travels in this realm have kept you clear of the Dark One, you would do well to keep it that way,"
Concealed by a pursed grin, a light yet still rather menacing chuckle bubbled upwards in Dracula's throat as he glanced down at the forest floor in amusement for a mere moment before his piercing gaze found the servant of the Dark One once more. He took a casual step closer in her direction with not a single fright in his demeanor over the creature holding this woman captive, "I'll take my chances," Nodding assertively, Dracula was not going to show any signs of submission to the Dark One. In fact, he looked forward to meeting this almighty dark and powerful one that makes subjects tremble.
"Well, as much fun as this was, I think you've got a master to get back to. We won't keep you any longer," Dracula tipped his forehead in the woman's direction, bidding farewell as he began to retreat back to Snow to deal with the sleeping Hound. It wasn't often he showed mercy to those who wrongfully cross his path. Perhaps he was overwhelmed with distasteful pity that had curbed his apatite. Or maybe this land was beginning to grow on him. That exact thought made him want to hurl.

"Well, as much fun as this was, I think you've got a master to get back to. We won't keep you any longer."
Indeed, it was several days' ride back to Rumplestiltskin's palace, and there were greater dangers on the road than this new stranger and his accomplice archer. She need not tarry where she was clearly unwelcome. "Your Highness," Megara greeted the other woman with a curt nod. "I have no allegiance to Queen Regina, so I have no interest in sharing your whereabouts. Though I wonder if you can be sure of the same with your present company." She cut a suspicious glance toward the Count, then shifted back into a congenial smile as she faced Snow. "It was lovely to not have met you."
With a slightly deeper bow, Megara took her leave of the two and the still-sleeping creature. And though she was returning to her master with only a piece of the prize and not the whole, she hoped that the Dark One would be intrigued if not appeased when she told him of this unusual encounter in the forest. Gathering up the still-soaked folds of her skirt, Megara proceeded back through the village and to where her horse waited.

"Well, as much fun as this was, I think you've got a master to get back to. We won't keep you any longer."
Snow was glad when Dracula retreated from the young woman. She might have joined forces with a shady creature, which she was fine with, but not ready to be part of a duo that would hurt an innocent person.
"Your Highness,""I have no allegiance to Queen Regina, so I have no interest in sharing your whereabouts. Though I wonder if you can be sure of the same with your present company."
Despite her empathy towards this woman, Snow wouldn't become comfortable with the permanent allusions to her royal being. Instead of saying anything, though, she remained quiet, gazing at the other with a rigid face.
"It was lovely to not have met you."
"The pleasure was all mine," Snow replied rather exaggerated as she remained unmoving.
It was only when the woman was gone that Snow turned back around towards her companion, watching him as he took care of the sleeping Hound. "So?" was all she said, in this one word many questions. What are you going to do now? Is this where our paths will part? What about my reward for having helped you out?

"So?"
Dracula glanced over at Snow, whose tone was stricken with millions of questions. Grinning with certainty, Dracula rubbed his hands together in a wiping motion before allowing one of them to reach into the hidden breast pocket behind his black suit, "One thing you should know about me, Snow, is that I always arrive with a plan," Dracula exuded confidence as he tipped his gaze over at the Hell Hound who was still fast asleep, "This poor beast clearly is not being taken well care of by it's owner. One does not simply come to possess such an incredible creature only to simply lose track of it's whereabouts," Shaking his head, Dracula tisked in disappointment. His hand had been fumbling momentarily in his pocket as he spoke, finally withdrawing it to reveal an item most rare, harvested by one of the most devious of magical beings. A Dark fairy crystal.
"I had hopes of saving the remainder of my collection for when I need to return back to my home, however, sparing a single shard to transport Fluffy to a place where he will be safe calls for an emergency use. And yes - I named him." Dracula proclaimed as he held the darkened, glimmering shard up towards the moonlight, "Although it is not my time yet to return, my loyal and most trusted servant Gerhardt will surely take great care of him while I'm away." Dracula allowed the shard to fall into his hand as he balled a protective fist around it. Taking a couple of steps towards Snow, he graciously bowed his head in her direction, "I cannot thank you enough for your assistance on this mission. Because of you, both the villagers and Fluffy have been spared. I offer you my service if ever you find yourself in peril or need, your Highness." Out of respect, Dracula remained bowed as he spoke. He was an impulsive man, but still a gentleman. Especially in the presence of royalty.

"One thing you should know about me, Snow, is that I always arrive with a plan,"
Snow raised an eyebrow as if to silently ask is that so? while she was waiting for the mentioned plan to unfold.
"This poor beast clearly is not being taken well care of by it's owner. One does not simply come to possess such an incredible creature only to simply lose track of it's whereabouts,""I had hopes of saving the remainder of my collection for when I need to return back to my home, however, sparing a single shard to transport Fluffy to a place where he will be safe calls for an emergency use. And yes - I named him."
She remained silent, yet not without giving the other one a look as if to sarcastically utter of course, his name is Fluffy. Because it just suits him perfectly well. She gave the dark crystal in his hands a curious look, though, especially when he held it up towards the moonlight. Beautiful... mystic..., Snow thought in silent awe about it.
"Although it is not my time yet to return, my loyal and most trusted servant Gerhardt will surely take great care of him while I'm away.""I cannot thank you enough for your assistance on this mission. Because of you, both the villagers and Fluffy have been spared. I offer you my service if ever you find yourself in peril or need, your Highness."
Dracula was indeed a mysterious man but also a gentleman. Snow didn't bow to him in return, yet she nodded her head slightly in appreciation of his manners. Probably vestige from her royal times. Then she smiled. "So, there are gentlemen among vampires. Wouldn't exactly have been my number one answer if ever I had gotten asked a vampire's characteristics. You're welcome," Snow added before he even got a chance to react to her joke. "But just to be sure that you won't be getting away with my help without paying me that service... How exactly would I find you? Like... playing a magical flute or something?" she quipped.

"But just to be sure that you won't be getting away with my help without paying me that service... How exactly would I find you? Like... playing a magical flute or something?"
Dracula had no reason to cheat this girl out of a deal. Shaking his head, Dracula threw an amused glance in Snow's direction, "You need not worry, dear, as I always intend to keep my promises," He gave the Princess assurance. Dracula always gave people his word, even if he only told half truths. Yet, never did he fully lie or twist information. He just simply told others only what they needed to know, "I'll be around if you need me. If you must have specifics, I have quite grown to enjoy gallivanting through the Enchanted Forest under the fullest moon. Just stay away from garlic and crucifixes." Gracefully scooping Snow's hand, Dracula bent over and planted a light kiss on the top before retreating back upwards, "It truly was a pleasure, Princess." Dracula smiled, speaking with sincerity as he began to bid Snow White farewell.

"You need not worry, dear, as I always intend to keep my promises,""I'll be around if you need me. If you must have specifics, I have quite grown to enjoy gallivanting through the Enchanted Forest under the fullest moon. Just stay away from garlic and crucifixes."
Snow gave no more than a slight nod to that. She felt that she could trust this being, as shady as he might appear. To her, Dracula had been a loyal team partner, although Snow had a feeling that it was time to get back to her one-woman business, just as his partner in crime seemed to sense that it was time for him to return to where he had come from, together with his special pet... Fluffy. Finally, the woods would belong to her again, or maybe not to her alone but without a creature that had put paid to her plans of robbery.
"It truly was a pleasure, Princess," Dracula uttered gentlemanly, giving her hand a light kiss. If Snow hadn't been used to such behavior towards her in the past, then she probably would have winced, at least. On the other hand, she had obtained a lot of bravery during her time in the woods.
"The pleasure was all mine, Dracula," Snow replied his almost royal farewell in the same way, although a bit exaggerated, for it just felt so odd nowadays, being treated like a lady. "Until we meet again."
One more nod from both of them, and their ways parted for who knows how long. In the end, Snow could only trust his promise. For now, she was doing just fine taking care of herself, anyway.
