Rose took in the room of foreign items that had an air of magic about them with wide-eyes. She wandered in, keeping her hands clasped behind her back to stop herself from touching anything, knowing, at least, that messing with magic when you did know anything about it was dangerous.
"I'm not sure I'd know how to properly use any of this," she said in response. "It does seem to have a similar feel to it as does baking," she said, making note of several items that were the same as or similar to ones seen in a kitchen. "Baking is my specialty," she explained with a smile.
Rose pulled a hand from behind her back to daintily cover a yawn, only just realizing how tired she was. The excitement over exploring the castle that had been keeping her going was starting to wane.

Diablo - tempplay by Lady Lee-o - "I'm not sure I'd know how to properly use any of this, It does seem to have a similar feel to it as does baking, Baking is my specialty," Diablo couldn't help but smile at her response. "You're not completely wrong, potions take time to brew and set. a lot of mixing of ingredients," He noticed the yawn and gave her another smile. "Perhaps it's time for you to settle in? We can finish exploring in the morning?"

Feeling a bit rude for yawning during his tour, Rose smiled in sheepish apology as she nodded. "I would like that very much." Being closer to the door, she wandered out first and took the stairway back up, pausing at the top and looking around to get her bearings. But with having leisurely wandered the castle for a good while, Rose didn't know which direction to go. She looked to Diablo for his help once more. "Would you mind showing me the way to my quarters? I'm afraid I'm all turned about." Perhaps the continuing of the tour tomorrow in the light of day would help her get a better grasp of the layout. The Next Night
Another day had passed rather uneventfully. Diablo had continued giving her the tour the next morning, as promised, and they'd continued well into the night, only stopping for meals and short breaks. Rose found she was getting a better sense of direction over the enormous place and she was becoming very fond of Diablo. Sweet and gentle with a serene temperament like most animals, it was easy to remember the human was merely a façade. Rose had only seen Maleficent during meals, which were spent in companionable silence. She was afraid of saying anything to ruin the fragile start of, well, she wasn't sure what to call it. Rose wasn't sure if a bond was possible, be it friendship, or, more in the realm of impossible, familial-like, but Maleficent had at least built up a tolerance of her. Rose happily accepted it. It was late and she was preparing to turn in for the night. Rose sat at the dresser and brushed her hair, Blue close behind her perched on the windowsill as they enjoyed their favorite game of vocal mimicry. She always went first, vocalizing a melody at random, Blue returning her mm's or ah's in tweets, chirps, or birdsong. They would start with a few notes and add more with each round, going on for quite awhile. Rose was always impressed with Blue's ability to mimic long strings of melody. They were well into the game when the wind had carried the melody of her voice over the gardens and to the edges of an area hidden from sight by magical overgrowth. The area was alive with nocturnal creatures, one of which were the water fairies. They were made for the darkness with the ethereal glow they gave off. Happy and lively creatures, they spent their time gliding and dancing in the air near the waters. The sound was very faint from that distance but one happened to pick up on the nearly inaudible sound that was not one heard in the Moors. Her ears perked up and she came to a stop, facing the general direction she thought she'd heard it coming from. She glided toward it, not stopping until she was near the protective boundaries and listened. A human's voice. Though a sound not of the Moors, there was something about it that was. Enchanted, the water fairy listened and felt the magic that spun through the voice. Fairy magic. The breaks between the magical voice were filled with a bird's song. She looked at the curtain of foliage that marked the boundary and thought of Maleficent's warning to never leave the Moors. Humans were dangerous and untrustworthy. But there was fairy magic in that voice. Surely a human that had been gifted fairy magic and had the trust and companionship of a small creature could be trusted. The melody continued and the water fairy couldn't resist the pull of curiosity and the pull of the magic in the voice. She carefully pushed aside overgrown vines until she peeked through to the gardens behind Maleficent's castle. Her eyes traveled upward toward the sound to an open window several levels up. She looked around, considering the risk of her glow in the darkness of night. But everything remained still and calm in the gardens with no signs of activity within the castle, save for Maleficent's guest within. That was another reason she felt safe in approaching this human. Safe and even more curious. Maleficent hated humans, yet she held one as a guest. With determination, the water fairy pushed through and floated up, the swish of her mermaid-like tale making it appear as if she were swimming through the air. Coming to a stop outside the window, she could hear it clearly now. It was such a magical sound. The little water fairy crossed her arms on the sill and closed her eyes, listening and smiling until the short flutter of wings signified that the blue bird on the inside sill had picked up on her presence. The little fairy smiled at the bird and put up a finger to her lips in a request that he not give her away. He tilted his head and looked at the foreign glowing creature with curiosity. "Blue?" Rose said, pulled from the daydreaming she usually did while they played this game when he hadn't taken his turn. Seeing his attention was outside, Rose became curious as to what could have captured it at this late hour. Rose placed the brush down and took the couple steps over. "Blue, what is it?" Something emitting a light blue ethereal glow suddenly ducked down the outside of the window, but Rose could still see the edges of it's glow. "Oh," she said in quiet awe. Rose knelt down at the window, crossing her arms and resting her chin upon them. "Hello," she said softly. Slowly, hair the color of the glow looking as if it were floating in water rose into view followed by big, light blue eyes peeking over the edge of the sill. She continued to speak gently, just as she did when attempting to make a new friend in the forest. "My name is Rose. This is my good friend, Blue." Rose slightly turned her hand to the side. Blue hopped up on it and, sensing no danger here, gave a few friendly tweets to their visitor. Intrigued by the bond that had Blue giving her his reinsurance, the little water fairy floated up to get a better look at the human woman who introduced herself as Rose. The beauty of the voice matched the being from which it had come. The woman lifted her head and smiled and the water fairy recognized the signs magic that also emanated from her appearance. Twice gifted by fairies. The water fairy watched her with awe. And Rose watched the water fairy right back with awe. That blue glow, the graceful way she floated as if swimming in the air, her sweet, delicate features that had such an innocent and pure look to them. Hardly believing she was real, Rose held up her hand and watched the little fairy swish upward and curiously reach out her own as if having the same line of thought. They both smiled at each other and Rose once again looked in awe. "My, you must be the loveliest creature I've ever seen." Such high compliment from what she was thinking must be the loveliest thing she'd seen had the little water fairy giggling shyly. She swished backward into a couple of loops, giddy over the compliment and for making a new friend, and perhaps showing off a little. Rose giggled in turn. "I've never seen anyone like you before. Where did you come from?" The little water fairy pointed behind her to what looked like a forested area. Eager to show off her home to her new friend and to show off her new magically gifted friend to the creatures of the Moors, she swished backward while enthusiastically waving her hand in a gesture to follow. A little jaunt into the forest behind Maleficent's backyard couldn't be dangerous. If she was careful not to stay too long, she probably wouldn't even be missed. Rose wasted no time in taking advantage of the offer. She grabbed her cloak from the back of a chair and swished it over her shoulders, tying it over her long nightgown and grabbed her slippers as she rushed out, hopping to pull them onto her feet along the way. In no time, Rose was out the backdoor of the castle and following the light of the fairy who led the way. ***Rose exits to King Stefan's Kingdom - The Moors***

***Rose and Rumpelstiltskin enter from King Stefan's Kingdom - The Moors***
In mid-sentence, Rose found her surroundings to be suddenly very different. "...him..." she finished distractedly as her mind reoriented where she was standing. It was her quarters within the castle. One minute, she was standing in the moors surrounded by the creatures and in the blink of an eye, she was back in the castle.
Rose gazed at her surroundings in disbelief before turning to the stranger. She suddenly recalled the first time she and her traveling party had stumbled across him and how he'd vanished before their eyes, taking with him the woman who had been intent on harming Snow White. It was one thing to have witnessed someone vanish before your eyes, but to be the one to experience such a thing was on another level.
There was a brief moment of sadness that she did not get to say a proper goodbye to her friends, but her enthusiasm for what had just happened quickly overrode it with a beaming smile. "That was amazing! Are you, yourself doing that, or do you have a magical item? Are you able to go wherever you wish?"
As one who had seen very little of the world, she was quite enthralled and somewhat envious of his gift. It took all her might to hold back her giddiness and the hundreds of other questions she had.

"That was amazing! Are you, yourself doing that, or do you have a magical item? Are you able to go wherever you wish?"
Rumpelstiltskin had to smirk at her giddy behavior and her way of asking him questions like no one else before; Like she wouldn't be afraid at all. It was rare to meet someone who not only wasn't afraid but also so positive about his abilities. So the rare occurrence came with a rare reaction from his side. The smirk, for once, didn't seem sardonically, not too much at least, but instead kind of open-hearted; As open as a darkened heart could be, that was.
"Why, of course, I'm doing that myself," Rumple answered complacent, though, waving his hands in front of her like he often did when speaking about his powers. "And yes," he added, not less cocksure of himself, "I can."

He was very animated and she quite enjoyed that. It made her smile, even chuckle. His enthusiasm was contagious. Rose's giddiness momentarily turned a bit more serious. "Oh, you are very lucky," she said with sincere reverence, almost as if there was a 'I do hope you know that' silently, and respectfully, added. "There is so much of the world I have yet to see. Such a gift would be very helpful." Also in always keeping out of reach of her father's bounty hunters in the blink of an eye, not having to, once again, live a life hidden away.
Rose always found a way to look at things in a positive light, so she pulled herself from the negative thoughts and easily found her natural cheer once again. "Though I am thankful for what I have," she reassured, always trying to be sure she did not make another feel bad, in this case, for having something she did not.
Recalling their first meeting, Rose quickly spoke again so that she would not lose an opportunity she did not think she'd ever get. "Oh, I'm happy to see you again! I never got to thank you for saving us from Queen Regina." She started to curtsey. "Thank you, Mr.--" she broke off, coming up from her curtsey with wide-eyed realization over having forgotten a basic manner in all her enthusiasm. "Goodness, we have yet to make introductions. I am Rose, but you already know that," she said on a chuckle. "What may I call you, sir?"

"Oh, you are very lucky,""There is so much of the world I have yet to see. Such a gift would be very helpful.""Though I am thankful for what I have,"
'Thankful for what I have. Yah yah yah, of course...' Rumplestiltskin was repeating only in his thoughts. Most people would say so, but only a handful really meant it. He had a feeling, though, that this girl belonged to the mentioned handful. Her pure heart almost made him roll his eyes even. Before he could say something to that, she went on talking. Just as well.
"Oh, I'm happy to see you again! I never got to thank you for saving us from Queen Regina.""Thank you, Mr.--"
For a moment, her wide-open eyes met with one pair of the same kind, yet not out of realization over missing manners but over her way of still acting as if she needed them when facing someone like him: the Dark One himself. He had to smirk then, after all. This girl gave variety, at least.
"Goodness, we have yet to make introductions. I am Rose, but you already know that,""What may I call you, sir?"
Wow. Sir? Now, that really was variety. The smirk grew a little wider before Rumple was lowering himself into a bow, his eyes still looking up at her while he did. "Name is Rumplestiltskin, dearie." With a darker grin, yet she would probably still mistake it as joy over their meetup, he added: "Or also... the Dark One."

"Oh," she said quietly, eyes slightly wide at that unexpected, ominous sounding moniker. In her very short meeting with him before and this that had just started, she hadn't seen anything to suggest the warrant of it, but something in his smile hinted that liked having earned it. Still, Rose would never judge on assumptions or the word of others. She smiled once again and chose to call him by the name he was most likely given at birth rather than by reputation. "Well then, Rumplestiltskin, thank you." Having already curtseyed, she gave a demure nod.
Rose was unsure why he was here. She folded her hands in front of her as she considered. He did appear to her, but she couldn't fathom what interest she could be of to him. Perhaps he'd expected someone else to be in the moors? A powerful fairy would be of far more interest to most people. "Are you here to see Maleficent?"

Although Rumple was starting to get a picture of her, he was still somewhat surprised when not even his title rang a bell or rather made her flinch. The only reaction to that was wondrousness about it, like she would be asking herself why he got called the Dark One. Really? How could she not see anything dark in him? At some point, Rumple might become annoyed by that even.
"Are you here to see Maleficent?"
"Well, no," he answered in the negative, adding an explanation after a short pause of making her wonder once again. This whole conversation felt kind of odd, though, but maybe the girl was just a little traumatized. "I'm here to offer you a deal, dearie, to put you out of the misery." It felt even odder to say so while looking into her cheerful face.

"Well, no,"
So he was here to see her, but she couldn't imagine of what interest she might be to him.
"I'm here to offer you a deal, dearie, to put you out of the misery."
"My misery?" she repeated, somewhat confused, overlooking the 'deal' aspect of his comment. But recalling what her situation had been in this place a short time ago, she wondered if he'd somehow known. "Are you referring to my being here?" she questioned. "I'm no longer a prisoner, if that is your concern." Rose walked to the door, opening it a moment before closing it again. "See?" she asked after reassuring him that the door was no longer kept locked.
She folded her hands before her. "It is very admirable of you to offer your assistance once again, but I assure you, I am quite content," she said with a warm smile. Her only complaint was having to stay hidden for a time again, but she wouldn't burden someone with that when she understood the need for it, especially when she thought there was nothing that could be done about it. "Besides, I feel as if I already owe you. Is there something that I may do for you?" she inquired, though she feared there wasn't much she could do in her current situation.

"My misery?""Are you referring to my being here?"
Well, yes, was what he thought, yet out came nothing but a look of confusion, meeting with the one that lay on the face in front of him, out of totally different reasons, though; Reasons that he didn't fathom yet, just as he didn't fathom this whole being in the first place.
"I'm no longer a prisoner, if that is your concern," Aurora served with an explanation, after all.
The confusion on Rumplestiltskin's face changed into disbelief. Were they really talking about the same person here, or was this girl just out of her mind due to a spell from Maleficient? Yet, when she opened and reclosed the door to prove it, his features were changing into something else, although hidden for someone like her: Disappointment about an obsolete deal, something that Rumple didn't appreciate at all.
"It is very admirable of you to offer your assistance once again, but I assure you, I am quite content,""Besides, I feel as if I already owe you. Is there something that I may do for you?"
What the... what?"[/b] Rumplestiltskin wasn't even sure if that was a joke or not. With any other person, he might have assumed that but rather not with this one. For another moment, there was disbelief, almost shock, on Rumple's features before he, finally, got his voice back. Yet, all he was able to do was to burst into impish laughter.

Rose seemed to have rendered him momentarily speechless, which had her shifting uncomfortably and nervously twisting her fingers. The look on his face told her that she'd once again acted or spoken in a manner that was not socially normal. Her inexperience that had led to her acting in such a manner also made it difficult for her to figure out how she'd mis-stepped this time.
The only conclusion she could come to was her current circumstance. She was hardly able to do much beyond quenching his thirst or satiating his hunger by fetching him drink or food. That was hardly on the level of what he'd done for her and her friends. "Well, I don't mean this exact moment," she said on a self-conscious chuckle. "After a time, when I'm able to leave here and move about more freely, surely there will be some way I could repay you."

"Well, I don't mean this exact moment,""After a time, when I'm able to leave here and move about more freely, surely there will be some way I could repay you."Well, and he didn't find funny what she was pointing out there but instead the mere fact that she wanted to do something for him in general. Anyways. "Repay me for what?" he then questioned quite confused, stopping the laughter. This girl didn't seem to need his help and, therefore, probably wasn't interested in a deal with him. Or was he wrong here? To be sure, Rumplestiltskin added more friendly again: "Or is there something else your little heart desires?" He made lively gestures with his hands, pointing at his own heart to underline his words, grinning in anticipation.

"Repay me for what?"
Rose was perplexed. She was immensely relieved and grateful that he'd saved her and her friends from the famed evil Queen Regina, but going up against her seemed a task so paltry to him that he didn't deem it worthy of repayment. Who, exactly, was this mysterious man and what kind of power or foolhardy confidence did he possess to seemingly have no fear whatsoever toward the powerful evil queen?
"Or is there something else your little heart desires?"
That was a difficult question that did not help bring words to her. Rose felt so new to the world at large that she hardly knew what she wanted in life. "Well, whose heart does not have desires and dreams?" she began on a nervous, slightly self conscious chuckle before confessing. "I'm still trying to figure out what it is I want, but so far, there is nothing that I cannot achieve on my own, given a little time and effort," she reassured.
Rose was far more concerned about taking up his time than she was in achieving the only small desire she had so far of seeing the world and meeting new people. After a little time hiding away in Maleficent's castle, she would be able to set out and achieve that. In her mind, the reason she had to wait in hiding was a fixed constant due to circumstances of birth. People did not generally think to wish or ask for things they believed were impossible to change or alter in any way.

Caw...
Maleficent's head tilted to the side, blinking as Diablo landed on her shoulder. Tilting his head back and forth before flying off, she was quick to follow. How long had the dark one been in her home? She could sense him now, feel the dark power and he was in Rose's room.
Using her magic, the door flung open. Maleficent knew her power stemmed from his own and she might not be able to defeat him but she would do what she could to protect Rose.
"What business do you have here, dark one?" Maleficent didn't take her eyes off him as her next question was for Rose. "Do not accept deals from being such as this, Rose. He cares not for anyone but himself. You did not make a deal with him, did you?"

"Well, whose heart does not have desires and dreams?""I'm still trying to figure out what it is I want, but so far, there is nothing that I cannot achieve on my own, given a little time and effort,"
"Is that so? Oh- what a pity then..." Rumplestilskin was playing the regretful one. On the other hand, it seemed that he really could not make a deal out of this right now. How could one person be so naive and... satisfied?
Just when he was going to add more words to this, the door flung open all of a sudden. Rumplestiltskin immediately rolled his eyes. Granted, he could have made some more effort hiding his presence, but the fairies had distracted him before.
"What business do you have here, dark one?" Before he could say something in return, Maleficent came up with more words, this time for the princess. "Do not accept deals from being such as this, Rose. He cares not for anyone but himself. You did not make a deal with him, did you?"
"Just as charming as you were in my memory, dearie," Rumple threw in, with an impish sound following his words, before adding a question of his own. "But with all due respect... Are you really any better- Maleficent... dark.. fairy?" He chuckled quietly as he eyed her with actual curiosity. What would have caused this change in her? This sudden... care? Unless... The grin on the Dark One's face widened just some more.

"Is that so? Oh- what a pity then..."
The door suddenly flew open, causing Rose to jump. Her hand flew to her racing heart as she quickly turned toward Maleficent's imposing figure entering the room, sharp eyes staring daggers at their visitor. Maleficent didn't stop watching him, even when she addressed Rose.
"What business do you have here, dark one?" "Do not accept deals from being such as this, Rose. He cares not for anyone but himself. You did not make a deal with him, did you?"
"N..no," she stuttered in surprise and confusion over trying to figure out what was going on. She did not have time to elaborate as Rumplelstiltskin was quick to parry.
"Just as charming as you were in my memory, dearie," "But with all due respect... Are you really any better- Maleficent... dark.. fairy?"
"It's alright," Rose tried to reassure Maleficent with a calm, soft voice as she stood between the two who apparently shared the word 'Dark' in one of the names they were known by, yet both cast the other in a negative light, seeming to harbor a distrust or dislike toward each other. Rose was not sure which as she had no idea of their history. "He saved me and my friends from Queen Regina." She looked to Rumplestiltskin to defend Maleficent in turn. "And she has been keeping me safely hidden away from my father." No need to hide the truth, for Rumple knew who she'd really been long before she'd learned of it.
Whatever their past history, in Rose's eyes, they were both good people, but she'd had the fortune of only seeing them in a moment where they'd done something for another. Well, there was that whole thing at first with Maleficent, but Rose understood the reason for it and Maleficent had come around, changing from captor to protector.

"N..no,"
"Good," Her gaze never left the dark one.
"Just as charming as you were in my memory, dearie, but with all due respect... Are you really any better- Maleficent... dark.. fairy?" Maleficent's eyes went slightly green, narrowing them at the dark one. She too came from dark power, his power and a part of herself knew how dangerous it was to stand against him- yet, she would do it to protect Rose.
"It's alright, he saved me and my friends from Queen Regina." Maleficent didn't feel as if it was okay. She knew all too well that his service came with a price. "and she has been keeping me safely hidden away from my father." Rose was always far too trusting and saw the good in everyone. It's what made her good, it's what made her right in the eyes of everyone she came across. Maleficent knew better, she knew the dark ones work first hand and he wanted something.
"To answer your question, I am not better, yet she sees the good in me. and for some reason, she sees it in you as well. I can not explain why she believes in such things, especially in you. You are the source of all evil... but maybe Rose knows something we do not? However, you can not fool me, Rumpelstiltskin. I know what you are capable of. Question is, what is it that you want from her?"

"It's alright,""He saved me and my friends from Queen Regina."
Rumplestiltskin had to chuckle, yet, this time, more on the inside. It might be of use to have a friend just somewhere in this land, so he didn't want to fall out with her. If she thought he'd been there to rescue all of them, he should not clarify this by telling her that she and her group had only been there coincidentally while he had to prevent the Queen from killing her stepdaughter only, for selfish reasons, of course. However, he couldn't help but smirk a little, easy to interpret as approval of her words, though.
"And she has been keeping me safely hidden away from my father."
Of course, this was no news to him as for the fact that the princess had been hidden away from her father, but it was as for the fact that, nowadays, Maleficent was protecting her. The smirk around Rumplestiltskin's lips grew a little wider, turning towards the dark fairie now, giving her another look as if to silently ask how come?. And then there came the answer.
"To answer your question, I am not better, yet she sees the good in me. and for some reason, she sees it in you as well. I can not explain why she believes in such things, especially in you. You are the source of all evil..."
"Why, thank you," he quickly threw in, obviously feeling flattered by such a description, although he, of course, knew that this hadn't supposed to be a compliment, which made it even funnier to him to show his gratitude.
"... but maybe Rose knows something we do not? However, you can not fool me, Rumpelstiltskin. I know what you are capable of. Question is, what is it that you want from her?"
"Believe it or not, but I was just here to save her once again," Rumple uttered with the same smirk as he started wandering around. Yes, Maleficent knew him well, so she would get the sarcastic tone while the princess certainly wouldn't. "How could I know that somebody seemed to have changed their... course?" He purposefully pronounced the word 'course' nearly the same as he would the word 'curse'. Maleficent surely hadn't told the girl about their connection from the past, and surely wouldn't want her to know. Rumplestiltskin's grin grew wider again.

When Rumplestiltskin thanked Maleficent for having called him the 'source of all evil' Rose merely thought it a sarcastic response to an insult.
"Believe it or not, but I was just here to save her once again,"
Rose looked to Maleficent with a reassuring smile as if silently saying, 'See? He is good and can be trusted.'
"How could I know that somebody seemed to have changed their... course?"
They both seemed so intent on seeing one another in a bad light and additionally, almost as if they were dissuading each other from changing. "A course isn't set in stone. It can be changed, if a person so choses."
Rose had no idea that Rumplestiltskin was playfully using the word 'course' in place of another that he knew Maleficent alone would pick up on as Rose did not know that an unbreakable curse had been placed upon her as a baby.

"A course isn't set in stone. It can be changed, if a person so chooses."
"Not when it comes to dark ones." Maleficent would not get into the details now, not in front of the dark one itself. "As you can see, she is fine and safe with me. I will keep her safe, she has no need for you or your little deals."

"A course isn't set in stone. It can be changed, if a person so choses," Aurora chimed in with a reaction before Maleficent could, earning but a slight smirk from Rumple while his eyes were still fixated on the dark fairy, noticing that she was doing the same.
"Not when it comes to dark ones.""As you can see, she is fine and safe with me. I will keep her safe, she has no need for you or your little deals."
"Dark Ones, dark fairies. Well, I don't see much of a difference there," Rumple downplayed her remark. Of course, he was seeing much of a difference, for it seemed that this dark fairy had become drippy, something the Dark One saw as a weakness, but he wouldn't state so in front of Aurora. It still might be helpful to let her think there was good in him.
"However," Rumple continued, finally answering the last of her words, "It seems you're right. For now, at least." He turned towards the princess herself, reaching out to her hand before one could stop him. "But if you ever feel not safe anymore, all you have to do is calling out my name, dearie." A slight smirk, closest to the friendliest face a Dark One had, was playing around his lips. She will remember his words and this promise, maybe not as long as she was with Maleficent, but there might come a time when she felt like she needed help. It was always good to plant some options for making deals in the future, for you never knew when you could need a favor in return.

Rose continued to silently observe the exchange between the two of them, not quite grasping the issue they had with each other. Why did so many people seem to hold on tight to grudges of the past? The one Maleficent had toward her father was understandable. It was horrifying what he'd done to her. But what had Rumplestiltskin done to get on her bad side?
"It seems you're right. For now, at least."
Rose allowed him to take her hand, not flinching in the least over the scaley feeling of his skin or his unnaturally long, dark fingernails.
"But if you ever feel not safe anymore, all you have to do is calling out my name, dearie."
"Thank you, Mr. Rumplestiltskin. I shall keep your generous offer in mind," she said with a smile. She knew Maleficent would not like that answer, but she'd explain once he left that she was simply being kind toward their guest. Besides, thus far, she hadn't come across a situation that had turned out bad or hadn't at least altered to the course of good, in respect to Maleficent or the tavern of pirates where the incident had ended in befriending the pirate who'd given her safe travel to her current location. However, should she ever find herself stuck in a situation where the path does not look as if it would turn her way, calling upon someone that could transport her in the blink of an eye, as he'd done from the moors to here, would most certainly be helpful. But Rose didn't think Maleficent needed to know that as Rose did not think that would ever be the case.

"Thank you, Mr. Rumplestiltskin. I shall keep your generous offer in mind,"
Your generous offer... This girl surely was unique. If he wasn't the Dark One, the embodiment of evil, he might like her even. He wasn't actually disliking her, at least.
"Well, well," Rumplestiltskin spoke up again before Maleficent, who fixated on him and their exchange with wary eyes, could. "I'd say I'd be looking forward to meeting you again, but, instead, I hope for you never to need my help again," he said to Aurora, giving her kind of a friendly smile, as friendly as it could be. With only his eyes turning towards the dark fairy, he gave her no words of farewell, their gazes at each other speaking volumes, though. "Tata!" And with that, the Dark One disappeared in a purple cloud of magic.

"Until we meet again," she responded to his farewell with a warm smile and wave, watching the purple haze where he'd stood dissipate.
Rose's eyes went to Maleficent, who'd transferred her disapproving gaze to Rose now that their guest was gone. It took her a moment to register that it was Rose's words that brought it on. "It is merely a turn of phrase. I do not plan on seeing him again," she reassured.
Maleficent read between the lines. "But you would warmly welcome him into your company, should your paths cross again." Rose's sheepish smile was answer enough and Maleficent heaved a heavy sigh. "Just promise me you will never make a deal with him."
It was more on the side of a demand than a request. Rose was not one to lie, nor make promises she was unsure she could keep, so she approached Maleficent and took one of her hands, squeezing it to stress a summarization of what she'd told Rumplestiltskin before Maleficent had arrived. "I do not see the need of one. I am content, despite the rough patch I have found myself in with my father," she said, suddenly embracing Maleficent as she continued, "and I have your kindness to thank for keeping me safely hidden from his men."
Maleficent awkwardly held her arms out at the unexpected hug, unsure what to do with them in a gesture that had become foreign to her. Maleficent had felt the stirrings of an odd sense of warmth upon getting to know Rose that she hadn't felt in a long time and that sense was beginning to fill her once again in this moment. But Rose's words and Maleficent's own image of herself clashes, pulling her from the warmth. She placed her hands on Rose's shoulders as she slowly stepped back, giving them an awkward pat so as to not injure the girl's feelings.
"I am not a kind person," Maleficent stressed with her stony, serious expression, trying to silently convey the importance of seeing a person's true nature. Hers was plainly on the surface in her actions, in the way she carried herself, and in how she spoke, and if Rose could not see that, then she wouldn't recognize the truth of what lay inside someone who hid their true nature behind false smiles and happy promises.
Rose simply folded her hands before her and smiled warmly. "Yes, you are," she insisted.
Maleficent threw up her hands in annoyed defeat and Rose's smile did not falter despite the crackle of energy that had sparked from Maleficent's fingers, nor her next words spoken in an angry tone as she stood at the door. "I ought to lock you in this tower for all eternity, for your own good."
Rose picked up something along the lines of 'foolish girl' and 'terrible judge of character' in Maleficent's mutterings as she slammed the door, causing a slight flinch on Rose's face. Rose heard the lock turn into place, but the shadow of Maleficent's feet were still showing under the doorway as if she was quietly warring with herself. After a few moments, the door unlocked and Rose saw the shadow of Maleficent's feet finally leave her doorway.
Maleficent gave instructions to Diablo as she walked away. "Keep watch over her. If that imp shows his face again, alert me immediately."
