"Hmmmm. Actually...I have no interest in taking away her."
Her hands sat protectively over her abdomen, as if that alone could stop whatever plans he had for her unborn child. No interest in taking her. Then what was his interest? A repulsed chill ran through Rapunzel as the Dark One came close enough for her to hear his next whispered words.
"Just what I want is..."
She strained to hear his every word, wanting to believe that there was a way out of this for all of them. Maybe the price wouldn't be so steep. Maybe they were all overreacting. Maybe tomorrow, they would all be able to forget it ever happened. And maybe Rapunzel would turn into a unicorn. If there was anything she learned from this encounter, a deal with the Dark One would not be so easily fixed. But before she could hear what the Dark One really wanted with her child, Eric's voice broke in.
"Rumpelstiltskin! If you seek a new source of that power, hear me out. There are other ways than the maiden's hair. I will find it for you in exchange for a new deal. I know were to start. You can take me at my word for you know by now I care little for myself. I do not offer this for my own well being. All I ask for is their freedom. For Rapunzel and her child."
Eric's eyes met her own and she appreciated the encouragement he tried to send her through his smile, despite the fact that she realized neither of them actually felt it. Suddenly the ropes of the rigging were wrapping around him, lashing him tightly to the mast.
"Eric!" she couldn't help but cry out again, terrified for her friend. Rumpelstiltskin, as Eric had called him, did not seem to appreciate the sailor's offer.
"Offer me a new deal, my son? And you really think I could yield to your conditions? But do not forget... You tried to break a deal with me. No one does. No one did. And no one... ever... will!"
"I will not break this oath, same as I did not break our last deal. What has happened was beyond either of our control. Let me have this chance to make things right. For all of us!"
"I think you still do not get it, do you? The hair is not the point. The course of your ship is it, deary... It is an ease for me to undo my part of our deal."
Her stomach tightened, her heart pounding. Here it was. The time for a decision had drawn near. Rapunzel had never hesitated to put herself in danger to protect others that she cared about but now...how could she put her child at risk? It was unfathomable. Yet so was watching Eric be tortured by this imp. Knowing that he likely wouldn't make it through this alive.
"I think I will start with your father. You know, it is just a snap for me..."
Before she knew what she was doing, her own voice rang out, "Wait!" It hung in the air for several seconds, Rapunzel still unsure of what she was about to do. Then quietly, resignation and defeat mixed into her tone in equal parts, she quietly asked, "What do you want, Rumpelstiltskin?"

"Wait!", Rapunzel's voice sounded from behind... just as planned.
Rumpelstiltskin's face began to grin delightfully, still keeping it in the Prince's direction. Slowly he took off his ready-for-snapping hand.
"What do you want, Rumpelstiltskin?", she finally asked.
That were the words, he was waiting for. Of course the relation between her and the Prince had advanced enough to not want her watching Rumpelstiltskin destroys the Prince's little life. With one fast move Rumpel turned around, not paying attention to Eric anymore. he only was his expedient to get Rapunzel's interest. And seemed it worked... "You think your magic is gone.", he sayed, approaching her. "BUT...", his finger raised up. "There still is some, deary." Again he was for sure closer at her, as she wanted him. "To finally come to the part, what I want..." Rumpelstiltskin's voice raised up, almost sounding like a singsong. "...the magic... inside... your baby.", he lastly continued the sentence, pointing at her abdomen. He watched her with a dark grin, knowing that he would get what he wants... knowing that he had the right leverages at last.

"To finally come to the part, what I want...the magic... inside... your baby."
She had suspected as much but hearing it out loud from the lips of the Dark One made it all the more real and terrible. Reflexively, she drew her arms around her body. A futile shield against the pointing finger of Rumpelstiltskin but all she could offer.
"The baby, will she..." Rapunzel's voice trailed off. She was unable to communicate her darkest fear. Was it to be a life for a life? Would it even do any good to ask when she didn't know if she could trust what the imp would say? Her gaze lingered on the bound prince before it steadied back on the enemy before her. Not able to gather the strength to ask her original question, she started again, "I need assurance that she will not be harmed. No tricks or fancy phrasing. I will only do this if you guarantee that my child will live."

"The baby, will she..."
Rumpelstiltskin was watching her with an expectant look, even if he knew that he has already won. No matter what she thought would be necessary to make clear before consenting in the deal, Rumpel would be able to circumvent her conditions. Fancy phrasing always was able to.
"I need assurance that she will not be harmed. No tricks or fancy phrasing. I will only do this if you guarantee that my child will live."
How streetwise... Ok, then no fancy phrasing. He anyway didn't have to make use of it, if this were her conditions. Technically speaking the child won't be harmed and what was more, it will live. Maybe not like it normally would. But who sticks at trifles...? "Your child will live... you have my word, deary.", he finally gave her the guarantee, hinting a curtsy. Then he came again just a little closer, his eyes staring at her. His voice became a little more sinister, as he finally wanted her decision. "Well now, do we have a deal?"

"Well now, do we have a deal?"
Despite the imp's reassurance, her feelings of unease persisted. Another stolen look at the captive ship captain revealed a broken man, obviously distressed over the danger that his deal had put her in. Carefully, she made her way over to him and lightly placed her hand on his arm. Whatever little comfort she could offer. "And Eric and his father? You will uphold their deal? That is my price."
Otherwise, it was for naught. Mother Gothel always warned that all magic came with a price and Rapunzel had seen her pay it. She needed to be sure of the outcome before she could commit to such a contract.

Rumpelstiltskin was getting impatient, as again her look went over the Captain. It was one thing to temporize with someone hisself, but wasting his time let him get uncomfortable. Slowly his eyes followed her steps towards the Captain, who still was captured on the mast.
"And Eric and his father? You will uphold their deal? That is my price.", she said, touching the Prince's arm.
"I will.", Rumpelstiltskin shortly answered with a louder voice, showing the impatience in it. Upholding the deal with Eric only meant to let his father live. No more, no less. Because after all the Prince has to get what he deserved. No one breaks a deal with him... "Deal?", he lastly repeated once again.

"I will."
The tone of his voice warned Rapunzel that her time and his patience were nearly up. There would be no more stalling her decision. Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, there was really only one choice she could make.
"Deal?"
"Yes." Rapunzel whispered quickly before she could change her mind. This was it. She gave a last look to Eric before she turned back to the Dark One, naturally slipping into the role of a royal signing some sort of treaty. "We have a deal, Rumpelstiltskin."
The bravado of her confidence didn't fool herself as she stepped towards him. Not only the worry over what was to become of them but the realization that whatever Rumpelstiltskin wanted this magic for, it would be evil. Someone was going to be hurt by this. More than one person would pay this price. But as she reached him, she knew it was too late to turn back now.

Eric
"We have a deal, Rumpelstiltskin." the young princess said.
Eric had almost gotten through the knot in the ropes when he heard her utter those words that solidified the arrangement between them. He strained his arms against his bindings and with a snap the rigging fell to the deck. The prince leaped forward and scooped up his sword from where it lay. "I am not foolish enough to think this will stop you Rumpelstiltskin, but if any harm comes to Rapunzel or her child I will find a way. And you will regret this with every ounce of your being." Regardless of the usefulness of the weapon, the captain kept the point of the blade directed at the Dark Ones heart to make his threat clear.

"We have a deal, Rumpelstiltskin.", he finally heard her accepting the deal.
"Fine!", Rumpelstiltskin exclaimed with a highvoiced sound, right after she ended saying his name. With a more than satisfied grin he watched her turning back to him. There never was a doubt Rumpelstiltskin wouldn't get what he wanted. He was in such an euphoria that he not even noticed Eric was in the act of free himself from the ropes. However the sudden sound of the fallen rigging let his eyes look past the reaching woman.
"I am not foolish enough to think this will stop you Rumpelstiltskin, but if any harm comes to Rapunzel or her child I will find a way. And you will regret this with every ounce of your being."
The point of Eric's blade pierced right through the Dark One's chest, vertically into his deepblack heart. Unsure if he really didn't noticed so fast or just another time wanted to show the Prince, that he couldn't defeat him, no matter what. At least, not with this... Rumpelstiltskin waited a little moment, before he uttered an amused giggle. "Seems our Prince woke up, didn't he?", he sneered in Rapunzel's direction, while pulling out the sword and dropping it to the ground... ignoring the Prince himself. Then his face again turned sinister. "But you better join the end of the queue, deary.", he muttered now to the Captain. A fast move from behind followed right after his words, captured the Prince a second time. But this time he wasn't finding himself on the mast, but roped again right in front of them. Shall he watch him taking away the unborn's magic. Actually his guilt Rapunzel had to make that decision. "Well, deary", he lastly turned back to Rapunzel. "Now I am back for you. Come... closer..." With a hint of his finger he underlined his creepy sounding words.

"But you better join the end of the queue, deary."
Not even a steel blade through the heart could kill this creature. It unnerved Rapunzel all the more that a man wielding such power seemed to have no weakness to mortal instruments. Once again, the prince was tied amongst his own rigging- as helpless as the rest of his crew who had the sense to just stay back and watch the scene in horrified interest.
"Well, deary" "Now I am back for you. Come... closer..."
She didn't move right away. One more moment would change nothing and she had something she needed to do first. Eric remained beside her where the Dark One had captured him and Rapunzel grasped his shoulder.
"Thank you, for everything you have done to try to protect us." Her voice was soft, keeping the conversation between just the two of them. "You tried to do the right thing and that is all that matters now. I still believe you are a good man, Prince Eric. Don't let anyone, including yourself, make you think otherwise." Having taken all the time she knew she could without angering the imp, Rapunzel began the walk towards him without waiting for a response from Eric. She quickly reached him without saying a word. It seemed the time for words was over.

Prince Eric
"Thank you, for everything you have done to try to protect us." Rapunzel said as she laid her hand on him. "You tried to do the right thing and that is all that matters now. I still believe you are a good man, Prince Eric. Don't let anyone, including yourself, make you think otherwise."
He didn't bother to look at The Dark One again. There was nothing left to say. Eric did lift his gaze up to the young princess though. "Everything is going to be okay, Rapunzel. No matter what happens. Your whole family will be reunited. He can not steal that happiness from you." the prince said. He emphasized the entirety to let her know the child would be fine. He wanted her to believe that as much as he needed to believe it himself. The captain did not close his eye's or look away. He would be there right beside her as best he could.

Rumpelstiltskin impatiently rolled his eyes, as Rapunzel one more time turned to the Prince. They better not waste his time much longer... But Rumpel didn't say a word, just was waiting for their little conversation's end and her walk towards him. Indeed the time for words was over. With a satisfied smile he watched her coming closer, ignoring the roped Prince in the background of his eyes. The last meter he came up to her, probably closer as she was willing to be. A quit giggle, more sounding like an inwardly chuckle, left his lips, as his eyes gazed her abdomen. Even his head turned down a little bit. Without any other word Rumpelstiltskin's discolored hands slowly approached it. He didn't care about Rapunzel's discomfort. When his hands reached her abdomen, he was able to hear the unborn's heartbeat... to feel it. He also felt a peculiar warmth, originate from the child within. The magic of the sun. It has to be. Concentrative he closed his eyes, let the scenes of his vision again appear in front of his inner eye. But everything Rapunzel and Eric would see, were some kind of bright magical strings between her abdomen and his hands. Rumpelstiltskin felt the warmth flowing through his hands, while the magical strings subsided bit by bit. He heard the unborn's heartbeat slowing down... like it would... freeze. The residual magic seemed to be... frozen. Suddenly Rumpelstiltskin took off his hands and turned his back on them, doing something they weren't able to see. Het let the bright magical strings disappear into a little phial, and the phial back into the inner of his coat. Then he turned back to Rapunzel. "We're done...", Rumpel finally sayed, a dark grin on his face.

He was close. Disturbingly close. When his hands came to rest on her still flat midsection, Rapunzel had to resist her impulse to push him away. The unnatural joy on his face did nothing but give her a sense of dread. There was nary a moment for her to feel disgusted, though, before it began.
He was no longer touching her, a golden bridge of sparkling magic hung in the air between them. A flash of the last time she had seen that magic came to her and instantly she began to wish for Eugene. As Rumpelstiltskin continued, she felt more and more anxious. A cold sensation spread through her body, as if it was radiating from the small child barely even formed yet within her. Something wasn't right. "W-What are you doing to her?" she forced the words out through clenched, chattering teeth but received no response. Her skin was freezing to the touch, as if all the warmth was flowing out through that bright, yellow magic into Rumpelstiltskin's hands. Her limbs seemed to turn into dead weight yet she didn't seem able to fall.
After what she perceived as hours, despite it only being a few minutes, the Dark One turned away. Shivering, Rapunzel fell to her knees as the magic no longer supported her. Her hands weakly grasped at the salty wood of the deck to hold herself up.
"We're done..."
He turned back to her and for the first time in her life all she could feel was an intense hatred for the man who stood before her. "Now let him go." she ordered, attempting to assume a commanding tone despite her decidedly vulnerable position.

Rumpelstiltskin saw the hatred in her eyes, but as he would care. The child anyway wasn't hurt... not as much at least. So there was no reason for guilty conscience... not at all. Besides, only a man could have had guilty conscience. And he was no man.
"Now let him go.", she suddenly ordered, or to be more correctly, she tried to. No one gave him orders.
Rumpelstiltskin had an acute glance at the captured Prince, before looking back at her with an uninterpretable smile. "As you wish...", he just responded slowly pronounced. Fancy phrasing and the art of interpretation. That was what he was good at. Then without any further word his hand made a fast move in Eric's direction, not touching him at all. With less effort Rumpelstiltskin let his magic drag him over the deck, still captured by the ropes. And before he was able to say a word or even take a breathe he threw him overboard. An amused expression was shown on Rumpel's face as he heard the Splat!, his hand still in a raised position. No one breaks a deal with him... not without a lesson.

Prince Eric
What he could only describe as rays of sunlight poured forth from Rapunzel's body... Into the outstretched hand of Rumpelstiltskin. Eric watched helplessly as The Dark One stole the essence from her child. He could not bring himself to look away. Out of horror or anger the Prince did not know, but he continued to tug at the ropes uselessly. The last of the strands departed from the Princess and where greedily scooped up into the villain's claw who promptly spun around, turning his back to them.
"Now let him go." The captain heard a feminine voice say and he realized Rapunzel had spoken. What's more, it seemed she was talking about him. Eric thought he heard a soft yet high pitched giggle depart the imp's lips. He could just see that smile. That evil grin. Suddenly he did not need to use his imagination as once again The Dark One turned to face them both. "As you wish..." came the quietly intense response. He seemed to make sure to emphasize each word equally. With a sudden thrust of the hand the ropes tightened around the pirate and he was flying. All he saw was the sky as the ship, the crew, and Rapunzel dropped out of his sight and the rush of wind filled his ears.

"As you wish..."
"No!" Rapunzel cried, uselessly throwing her arms out towards the bound prince to stop his flight into the sea. There they froze as Eric tumbled over the ship's rail and splashed into the water below. Tears welled up in her green eyes. He was gone. It had all been for naught.
Despite still being shaky and weak from her encounter with the imp, Rapunzel turned on the Dark One with a renewed fire in her eyes. "We had a deal." Before he even had time to answer, her error dawned on her. They had a deal- to uphold Eric's deal. Never was the prince's safety included and never had Rumpelstiltskin intended to keep him alive. He had managed to deceive her. In her anger, she forgot the lingering effects of the Dark One's magic and pushed herself to her feet. All too quickly gravity gave her a painful reminder and she dropped back onto the deck. "You monster. How could you?" she barely managed to get out in a broken whisper, unable to make the attempt again. Something soft and scaly brushed a tear off of her cheek. Pascal. She had nearly forgotten him in all of this.
Her earlier queasiness returned with a vengeance and desperately she tried to pick a point on the horizon, like Eric had shown her. Even the simple action racked her with guilt. It wasn't supposed to be this way.

Rumpelstiltskin's eyes fixed the spot where the Prince splashed into the water just a moment longer, still a delighted smile on his lips.
"We had a deal.", suddenly Rapunzel raised to speak at him from beside.
Without giving up the smile, Rumpel turned his head around. He saw the thoughts, which were easy to read from her face. It seemed she began comprehend the situation... the real meaning of their deal. Rumpelstiltskin unimpressed watched the woman pushing herself to her feet and again failing on that.
"You monster. How could you?"
Oh, the monster phrase! Though he was starting to get used to it. With slow steps he approached her. One little move of his hand forced her look back in his direction... with magic of course. "I feel honored, dearie.", he sayed in a high voice, using the other hand to place it over his darkblack heart. "But mind", he continued a little quieter. "A pirate actually should be able to swim... OH!... forgot about the ropes." Rumpelstilskin made a staged shocked face, immediately followed by an evil giggle. Without giving Rapunzel another time to react, he anyway was sure she wouldn't be able to in her condition for now, Rumpel was going to disappear in a magical fog. "See you, dearie.", were the last words, he couldn't withhold, before he left the ship.

"See you, dearie."
The moment that the Dark One disappeared, Eric's crew sprung into action. Rand sprinted to the spot where their captain had gone overboard, tying a coil of rope around his waist while some of the others fastened the opposite end to the mast. She wanted to stand, to go help in the rescue effort, but her limbs were still not responding as they should. A distraction of any sort would not help Eric so she remained huddled on the deck just trying to regain some warmth. It was so cold...Rapunzel wondered if she would ever be warm again. Or was this a side effect of whatever the Dark One had done to her and her child? Her heart ached from the unknown. He had promised that the baby would be unharmed but what if there was trickery in his promise? Just like with Eric...The thought of the prince brought a wave of guilt. The chances of finding him alive were slim. "I should have done more. Been more careful." she quietly said to the small, green reptile perched on her shoulder. Pascal was hanging onto his mistress as tightly as his tiny legs would let him and only gave her a sad look in response.
"There was nothing that you could do, my dear. The Dark One is not known for his leniency. Eric sealed his fate the moment he turned the ship around." A rough blanket was gently wrapped around them and Rapunzel looked up to see Eric's first mate, Grimsby. The older man's face looked tired and drawn.
"I'm so sorry." Despite the man's assurances, Rapunzel couldn't stop the apology issued from her lips. But he waved it off.
"I've been with the lad since the day he was born. He was always foolhardy. From the moment he made that deal, I've known how this would end." His voice broke and he quickly cleared his throat to cover it. "We will get you home. That is what Eric would have wanted."
She was about to thank him when something in the distance caught Rapunzel's eye. A ship with the bright purple and gold flag of Corona hoisted high on it's mast. Eugene.

Davy Jones
A life hung in the balance, the rule of the sea was invoked. As the two ships sailed closer together the ocean between them began to roil. Many of the crew of the Shooting Star ran to the rails and looked on in confusion... Confusion which quickly turned to horror as a ship burst forth from the depths bobbing violently before coming to rest in their path.
A flurry of motion could be seen on-board the new arrival as the water poured from its deck, returning to the sea. One creature in particular, for that was the best description for its crew, limped to the rail to address Eric's vessel. Tall and boasting a claw instead of a hand he pointed it menacingly in Rapunzel's general direction. "No one passes unnoticed by the Dutchman. Tell me, where is your Captain now?"

What now? Trepidation filled her as the huge ship seemed to, impossibly, rise from the sea and Eric's crew dashed away from the rails of the Shooting Star. A chorus of frenzied voices filled the air but only a few thoughts reached Rapunzel's ears-
"It's the Dutchman, it is!" "We don't have a bloomin' chance against Davy Jones!" "Knew it was bad luck havin' a woman aboard!"
Grimsby remained by her side, wordlessly reaching down to help the still shaken woman get to her feet. Even he seemed resigned at the sight before them but why? Had they not just stared down the Dark One, apparently the most evil being in all the realms? If this vessel caused such terror...could it be worse? How was that possible?
"No one passes unnoticed by the Dutchman. Tell me, where is your Captain now?"
Rapunzel had no words in her vocabulary to describe the creature that called to her over the water that separated the two ships. He wasn't man but he also wasn't sea creature. Instead he seemed some sort of horrifying combination of both. She wondered if he had been a man turned into this or if this was his true form. His crew shared his form, all having attributes of a human being but seeming much more of the sea than of land. For several moments, all she could do was stare at the strange tableau before her as she waited for a member of the Shooting Star's crew to respond. When no response came, she turned and saw that she was utterly alone in the middle of the deck. The crew pressed as far away as they could from the Dutchman, looking for all the world like they may jump ship at any moment and join their captain in the water below in hopes that they'd reach shore before the opposing ship could capture them. Even Grimsby now stood a few steps behind her with his eyes trained on the new danger. It was with a sinking realization that Rapunzel knew she would have to answer.
"G-Gone," she stammered, unable to wrap her mind around it all, "He's gone."

The monster looked on with a passing interest as the crew aboard the other vessel shrunk back against the far rail. They left a lone figure standing there as the object of his attention, a woman. Jones scowled at her as she opened her mouth to speak. "G-Gone... He's gone." The captain leaned on the rail snapping his gaze to the left, then to the right as he took in the waves that lapped against the hull. Every movement abrupt and exaggerated. "Gone?" he said, the word drawn out beyond the normal syllable. "Clearly, as you can see he is not aboard my ship!" Anger crept into his tone and onto his face as his claw dug into the rail that supported him. "Before I show you what that means, one of you will tell me where he has gone to!"

Eugene Fitzherbert
Ok let me get you up to speed with everything that has been going on. It was the anniversary of Gothel's death, you know the old witch who kidnapped Rapunzel when she was a baby and kept her locked away in a tower and then ultimately ended up killing me? Yeah her, well Rapunzel still has feelings of connection and went to pay her respect despite all common sense and everyone around her saying it was a bad idea, so she did something incredibly selfish, stupid and reckless and left without me of all people. But hey she left a note so that makes everything better right? So I go to leave and catch up with her when I come across her horse and Captain of our Guard, Maximus, turns out she was kidnapped and placed on a ship or something I am not too sure Maximus was in a panic and have you ever tried to understand what a horse is saying, didn't think so.
So I got ship, filled it with sailors and guards who were wanting to get their princess back and off we went sailing following Maximus' directions (a horrible decision really) while hoisting the Corona colours. So we sailed, Maximus pointed, I captained and we sailed to our hearts content when we saw a ship in the distance and when Maximus drew his frying pan I figured we had found the ship we were looking for. That was when the giant ship just came up from the depths of the ocean and seemingly board the other ship containing my beloved Rapunzel. So I summoned my courage from bottom to top (Ok so it was mostly the glares from Maximus) and I drew a small raft boat and rowed over to the ships positions before I discreetly scaled the outside of the ships ropes and chains and crawled into a small hole where a canon would normally sitting and it is here I wait under deck trying to piece a plan together so I can save my love and avoid the dreaded frying pan from the horse guard Maximus.

"Clearly, as you can see he is not aboard my ship!" "Before I show you what that means, one of you will tell me where he has gone to!"
"Overboard. He went overboard." Rapunzel quickly clarified. She had no desire to see what the terrifying octopus-man meant. In fact, right now all she wanted to do was go home home but since that wasn't an option she stood her ground as best as she could. "We don't know what happened to him after that."
Though she was still standing, the princess' limbs felt increasingly weak and she was keenly aware of the ever increasing wave of freezing cold that was spreading its way through her body. This encounter definitely took the prize for the worst timing possible. The palace ship still bobbed on the other side of the Dutchman, the crew looking a mix between horrified and helpless at the position their princess now found herself in. But Eugene was no where in sight now and immediately worry for whatever rescue attempt she knew he was now mounting crept into her other swirling massed emotions. Still, she tried not to let those emotions show to the sea encrusted captain before her. "So, as you can see, we really can be of no help to you."

Overboard... He had assumed as much, that was why he had come. The girl's comment did nothing to answer his question.
"We don't know what happened to him after that... So, as you can see, we really can be of no help to you."
He would be the judge of that, Jones thought. A very sinister grin spread across his monstrous visage. "It might comfort you to know he has escaped my sight. Your Captain lives, but as for you... The lot of you can make use of yourselves aboard my ship for the next hundred years, for my trouble! Run out the guns!" He barked as the beast turned his back on Rapunzel and the Shooting Star and leveled his gaze on his first mate. As the gun ports opened to reveal a series of gaping maws, water poured forth preceding the long barreled guns that came out to face the two opposing vessels. "Send those ships to the depths!" the Captain said, issuing that inevitable command. His declaration was punctuated by the sounds of thunder as solid shot cut the distance between the Dutchman and her adversaries on both sides.

With a deep sigh I make my way up to the deck, boy what I wouldn't give to have a frying pan with me right now. So I stroll onto the deck like I own the place ignoring all and proceeding with my, er, plan.
"Ya know Blondie if you wanted to take a cruise you could have just asked." I walk over to Rapunzel, it feels like I haven't seen her in forever and well these things just happen so when I reach her with I give her a twist and a dip before kissing her, I have long for those lips. I pull her back up and smile, still ignoring all the facts that actually matter about our current situation.
"Admit it, you're happy to see me." I give her a wink as I say it "I give a slow spin around and look at my surrounds before facing Rapunzel once more "This..." I wave my hands about me indicated the mess we are all in "I wouldn't worry about all this. Me, I had plan, it was a good plan, solid plan, would have been a well executed plan." It is around this time a look on her face gives me an indication she has noticed my use of past tense regarding a plan, she knows me so well. "But... well I got bored."
I lifted my arm and pointed toward the one who was leading them all, "You." I slightly turn my head so I can see him/her/it out of the corner of my eye. Now that has to be a face only a mother could love, I mean I have had some bad mornings usually follow a heavy night of ale but I can honestly say I have never awoken with tentacles of the face. I turn and start walking towards C'thulu "I'm giving you this one chance to flee, go on your merry way and I will let you leave. I know you will laugh because its me against a sharkthing, a dude with gills and whatever thing that has to hide its ugliness in the deep dark depths.." I point and indicate as needed. "But me, oh I am what you should fear. Back in Corona they call me the Oncoming Storm, the terror of the night and other terrify things that would make you ink yourself! So leave now and I wont make you int Calamari!"

"It might comfort you to know he has escaped my sight. Your Captain lives, but as for you... The lot of you can make use of yourselves aboard my ship for the next hundred years, for my trouble! Run out the guns!"
Eric was alive! What relief brought to Rapunzel with that knowledge was short lived as waterlogged, barnacle encrusted canons emerged from the ports on the side of the opposing vessel. He meant to sink them. She tried to think quickly. They needed some sort of distraction so that they could mount a proper plan.
"Ya know Blondie if you wanted to take a cruise you could have just asked."
Eugene? Her eyes snapped over to the door that led from below decks. Sure enough, there was her husband, sauntering in like he had been on the ship a million times before and they weren't facing a giant homicidal mollusc. He reached out for her and suddenly the world was spinning around her. Unfortunately, even once she stopped, the world kept right on going. She felt her stomach give a lurch, unsure whether her current nausea was due to her pregnancy or whatever it was that Rumpelstiltskin had done to them. Whatever the reason, Eugene's rather typical greeting did not have the desired effect on the princess.
"Admit it, you're happy to see me." "This..." "I wouldn't worry about all this. Me, I had plan, it was a good plan, solid plan, would have been a well executed plan." "But... well I got bored."
Through her addled state, Rapunzel still managed to shoot Eugene a look. What was he up to? She just hoped that he wasn't going to get them blown up before he managed to finish whatever it was.
"You." "I'm giving you this one chance to flee, go on your merry way and I will let you leave. I know you will laugh because its me against a sharkthing, a dude with gills and whatever thing that has to hide its ugliness in the deep dark depths.." "But me, oh I am what you should fear. Back in Corona they call me the Oncoming Storm, the terror of the night and other terrify things that would make you ink yourself! So leave now and I won't make you into Calamari!"
They were so getting blown up. There was a moment of silence in which Rapunzel anxiously fretted and Jones seemed to take in the man before him. The air around Rapunzel dropped at least thirty degrees and she began shivering violently, her teeth chattering with the rattle. She hardly had a moment to ponder this before Jones spoke in a terrifyingly commanding tone.
"Send those ships to the depths!"
The words were only seconds out of his mouth when the loud explosion of the artillery reached her ears. Time appeared to slow as the cannonball flew at the Shooting Star. Instinctively, Rapunzel threw her arms up and shut her eyes tightly to prepare for the impact. A rush of cold shot through her arms and hands, leaving them feeling frozen, but the impact she had been waiting for never came. Slowly she cracked open an eye. The sight before her made her gasp. The cannonball was inches from their hull, completely encased in a think layer of ice that stretched from the object back to the Dutchman. More than that, it seemed to have a life of its own as it spread over the ship, immobilizing the massive craft as even the water surrounding it turned into a thick chunk of ice.
Rapunzel's jaw dropped open. What had happened? Did she do that? Wordlessly, her eyes met Eugene's.

That insolent little whelp's words where quickly drowned out by the sound of the long nine's. Those guns fired point blank would be more than enough to tear that ship in half, but nothing happened! Jones watched in disbelief as the cannon balls slowed to a stop, frozen in mid air! A jet of ice poured from the hands of that woman and proceeded to race across his gun deck disabling the port side battery. To make matters worse he heard the hull of the dutchman groan and he limped to the side and stared down at the waterline. The ship was compacted in an ice field that had not been there moments before. They were locked.
The captain's face contorted in all manner of frustrated and angry expressions as he searched for the words to vent his fury! "Witch! If you think this will stop me you are sorely mistaken!"

Everything frozen and I am not talking in a metaphoric sense of time slowing down while something dramatic happened, I am meaning literally everything covered in ice. The tides were now a thick layer of ice, a canon ball that had been turned into an icicle crashed onto the deck. I shoot a look to Rapunzel, nothing on my face but utter confusion.
"Witch! If you think this will stop me you are sorely mistaken!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa... Witch? Isn't that just a little harsh Squidlips? How would you like for me to start calling your... I want to say wife but I am thinking more Catfish.. names?

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa... Witch? Isn't that just a little harsh Squidlips? How would you like for me to start calling your... I want to say wife but I am thinking more Catfish.. names?"
"Eugene!" Rapunzel hissed quietly, feeling more than slightly panicked. "I think we have a lot bigger problems here than fish insults can solve. The crew is petrified, there is ice shooting from my fingertips, an octopus-man wants us swabbing his decks for the next hundred years and I would really like our child to live to see her own birth!"
That last sentence came rambling out before she could stop herself and Rapunzel immediately wished she could take it back. This was not how she wanted Eugene to find out that he was going to be a father. In fact, nothing about this was going the way that she had dreamed it would on the day they had gotten married. There were supposed to be lanterns and all manner of obnoxiously adorable things involved. Quickly, she turned back to their enemy so she wouldn't have to see the shock on her husband's face.
"Mr-uh...Captain Jones. I really am very sorry for all this...um...inconvenience. But we won't be joining your crew today." The octo-man looked unimpressed as Rapunzel continued, praying that her bluffing would work better for her than it had thus far on this mis-adventure. "And if you continue to pursue us, I'm afraid that I will have no choice but to...freeze. All of you. Onboard."
Like she had any idea how to do that.

Eugene Fitzherbert
I follow Rapunzel staying close to her so if something bad were to happen she would be able to protect me.
"Ooooooooh now you've gone and done it Squidbilly, you best make sure that she doesn't get hold of any frying pans..."
Wait, something Rapunzel said doesn't sit right with me and I trace back the words she said in my mind. At first I can't put my finger on it and that is when it hits me like a tonne of bricks, there is always time for fish insults.
"A hundred years swabbing decks wouldn't be too bad if it was spent with you, though I am not to sure about looking like one of those things. Well if he could get my nose right and I do have a neck for gills they would look..." And 30 seconds later my brain manages to compute the end of sentence "I would really like our child to live to see her own birth!"
"Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..." My mouth drops open while my eyes go blank and wide eyed.
