God, she needed a fix. Coke, pills, X... god, even a joint sounded like heaven right now. She had been clean for such a long time...well maybe actually only a few months but it felt like much longer than that. Time didn't have much meaning anymore anyway. Leland would be ashamed of her. Hell, she would be ashamed of herself if she was thinking clearly. But she was so over this shit. She tried to play nice, tried to be that good girl again and look what it got her. Dee's blood on her hands. Her hands rubbed frantically at her jeans, like she hadn't already scrubbed them raw after she did...it. Leland had just thought the blood came from her trying to stop the bleeding and she let him go right on thinking that. God, she was such a bitch. There had to be something left in this hick town that she found herself in. She had passed a bar not too far back but that wasn't really what she was looking for. Thankfully there didn't seem to be many of those...things around. Nothing had come at her since she got on the main roadway and she hadn't been exactly quiet. Bonnie was glad for the brief respite. She really didn't feel like getting killed today. Not before she had a hit of something anyway. Her eyes lit up like a kid on Christmas and she almost did a little dance as a building bearing a drug store sign loomed up ahead of her. Finally. She crept up to the front window and peered inside. It was dark but a pretty open floor plan. She didn't see anything but still pulled out the hunting knife she had found a few miles back, shoved into some poor schmuck's face. His crappy luck was her incredible gain. The glass front door opened easily. Hopefully that didn't mean all the good stuff was gone already. After a quick once over, she knew the place was just as empty as it had seemed from the outside. Good. She didn't need to deal with any of those freaks will she was trying to get high. Now to get into the pharmacy.... |

**Nate and Joe enter from Nate's Camp**
It had been a little bit of a drive and the conversation in the cab had died off a few miles back. Nate wasn't sure if Joe had passed out or not. Who knew how long the guy had been humping it through the woods before he had found him on the roadside. The buildings where becoming a lot closer together as they neared the center of the small town he had been heading for. His new pal wanted a drink and he had just the place in mind. As they coasted down main street he slowed the vehicle then stomped the brake at the last second to get the truck to jolt knocking them both forward against their seat belts. "Rise and shine!" he barked with a nice hearty laugh. "We're here brother, couple nice places we can hit while we're in town too," Nate said as he jumped out of the driver's seat. He turned to call Joe's attention to the drug store at the end of the block when he saw the front door of the joint slam shut...

Slowly they passed the windows of several smaller shops and even a former post office while they where heading towards the town center. "Yeah, right again deep in the middle of a backwater town." he murmured while his eyes where observing the neighborhood in the meantime. Relieved he realized that the towncenter seemed to be free of any walker or highwayman. With his right foot he kicked away a little stone that bounced off some times until it laid in front of mortician's. Joe felt a cold shivering came down his spine when he sighted the buildings front. "Hope this wasn't your hometown, man. Seems for me to be a dreary spot." With a broad grin on his face he turned around to his new companion, Nate just to realize that he was starring at the drug store. "What is it man? Need to get some sanitary pads? Ok, get going!" A mocking expression showed on his face while he moved his head that a cracking sound could be heared and without a further explanation he slowly walked to the drug store. |

They walked in silence for a moment or two, his companion sensing his urgency to get to the drugstore. Joe didn't seem to mind that the bar would have to wait. "What is it man? Need to get some sanitary pads? Ok, get going!" Nate glanced sideways at the man, a smirk tilting up the corner of his mouth. "Smartass... Nah I got plenty of those. I got something better in mind, especially since my buzz is wearing off. You're gonna love it!" They reached the doors to the shop and Nate pressed his face against the glass, cupping his hands against the sides of his head to block out the glare. It was dark inside. "Hello? Anybody home?" he yelled as his breath fogged a little circle on the glass.

His eyebrow lift up as he curiously observed Nate attempting to enter the drugstore. At a first glance it seems like this whole town was abandoned long time ago but as he knew from his own experience where people would stay if their lifes are at stake. And those creatures were ways more undemanding... He sighed noisily. "Pal, nobody will answer if you ask like that. Take a step back and see how we would take care of this in the big city." A wolflike grin showed on his face while he just went to the front door and opened it whithout any further precautional measures. "Hey hon, 'am back home. What's for lunch?" Slowly he entered the dark drugstore. Despite his careless words he was no complete newbie as his right hand grasped his gun ready to shoot whoever would lunge out of the dark. Two bullets left and all he thought about was to impress that ridge runner. Wasn't the plan to take the car and leave him rotting in the dump? |

Joe walked into the building in short order leaving Nate standing there in silence. All of a sudden he just burst out laughing. "This is my kinda asshole," he said to himself as he followed his new friend into the pharmacy.
