***Anya enters from Entrance Hall***
She wandered into a large, beautiful courtyard, blessedly empty of creepy stone knights and the din of a hundred voices. Anya smiled, admiring the beautiful architecture and the greenery that had taken possession of a few areas. She broke off another piece of cookie and popped it into her mouth as she shrewdly eyed the bridge way structure, mentally tracking her path. With a smile, she wrapped the napkin closed and stuffed the cookies into her jacket pocket as she headed for one of the bridge archways.
Anya made quick work of completing her goal, reminding herself again how those silly robes would hinder her from this sort of thing. She stepped up into the archway and with ease, used the little nooks of the bricks as toeholds to quickly climb up the column, using the protruding gargoyle-like statue at the top to hoist herself up. She walked along the roof of the bridge, casually glancing down the other side. The castle was very high up but the height did not bothering her a bit. When she reached the center of the roof directly across from the entrance, she stopped and turned toward the castle, taking in the awe inspiring view of it. It went as far as she could see from her point of view. It was just... massive. All of it. The castle. Magic. This change in her life.
She turned her back to the castle and looked out at the water framed by mountains on each side. Now this was natural. This was just plain nature. No magic, nothing out of the ordinary. Just normal. She eased herself down and sat cross legged, pulling the cookies from her pocket as she nibbled and started to mull things over.

***Enters from Entrance Hall***
He looks around the area, at first seeing nothing. Look up. Always look up.Look up. He scans the roofs of the structures and then almost laughs in releif. He pockets his wand as he regards the new girl staring out over the area. Over everthing new. Everything but the trees and the grass. Well, most of them. He remembers the feeling. He remembers longing for something not magical. Something normal. Maybe he should leave her be.
No. That would not be best. He had been left alone after all. It hadn't helped. And while he is sure the headmaster will help the new girl, the man can be over zealous when it comes to magic. It might be nice for her to talk to someone not completely entranced by magic. It might be nice for him. "Mind if I join you?" He calls up. It will likely startle her but he doesn't know what else to do. Besides, yelling up is certainly better than just starting to climb. Hopefully he doesn't scare her too badly.

Anya was used to always watching her back, always keeping an eye or ear open so she had heard someone approach but assuming it was Marius and also feeling she was not in a threatening environment, her stance did not change. However, hearing a voice that did not belong to Marius did surprise her enough to take a curious look as to who had found her here.
Looking back, she gave the professor a glance and answered with a nonchalant shrug. "It's a free country," she said before turning back to the view.
When he was settled, she glanced at him again. "Is it? A free country?" She clarified. "I mean, where are we exactly?"

She looks down, seemingly unperturbed. She had probably heard him or something. It's a good skill to have really. He has it too. Only he starts at the sound of mice sometimes. So he's more just paranoid. Not that he ought to dwell on that. She shrugs then, seeming to not care at all. "It's a free country," she says before turning to stare at the veiw again. He almost just turns around and walks back inside. In fact he would have except for the fact that he would have given a similar answer. She doesn't seem to care about the fact that he is there because she doesn't. He has given her no reason to. But he wants to give her a reason to think he will help her because he will. So he climbs, easily scaling the wall in his jeans before sitting down next to her and looking out at the veiw. "Is it? A free country?" "I mean, where are we exactly?" Goodness. She doesn't even know where they are? What exactly has Marius been doing with her? You can't just take a girl someplace new and not tell them where they are.
"Scotland," he tells her. His homeland. "Though there is a different Wizarding government. The Ministry of Magic. It is the government for all wizards living in the UK. But we are a country as free as any other." Because no country is completely free nor should it be. That would lead to anarchy and murder. Though a few rules could stand to be changed in his opinion. But everyone thinks that. And no one would agree with the laws he wants changed. Not that he wants to dwell on that at the moment. This girl seems to have been thrust straight into magic and that can't have been easy. And his day hasn't been great either. But he can't think of what to say that will be sure to be interesting for her and not potentially triggering. He doesn't want to hit a touchy subect. Oh. Duh. Name. "By the way, I am Doct-Proffesor McCormick." And of course he messes it up. She is just so not a wizard yet that he was thinking of her as a Muggle. And to the Muggles he is Dr. McCormick, the Scottish Indiana Jones. Well. Today must be failure day for him. Maybe he ought to go to bed as soon as possible.

"Scotland," "Though there is a different Wizarding government. The Ministry of Magic. It is the government for all wizards living in the UK. But we are a country as free as any other." "Scotland," she said simply as she gazed out again at the landscape. I've never been to Scotland. She almost confessed it out loud but was used to being guarded, even in such a new and marvelous place. Ministry of Magic. Even this world of magic had it's own government? And why not. She almost chucked at how often she'd used those last three words. "By the way, I am Doct-Proffesor McCormick." "Anastasia," she responded in turn. McCormick. Why did that sound so familiar... It suddenly struck her. "Wait, Dr. McCormick?" she asked, studying his face and realizing it matched the one in the articles one of her teachers passed around. " The Dr. McCormick?" She actually smiled as she held out her hand, shaking his and her left palm set to tingling. "I have a teacher who always talked about you and your work." As soon as the handshake was over, Anya automatically scratched her upturned left palm. "'The Scottish Indiana Jones' she called you. I think she fancied you," she added conspiratorially.

"Anastasia," the girl responds, luckily not seeming perturbed by his mistake. "Wait, Dr. McCormick?" Of course she knows who he is. Most of the muggle students have at least heard of him in passing. He really ought to start expecting it. And with a seventeen year old instead of an eleven year old… well he really ought to have known it was coming. "The Dr. McCormick?" He can’t help but chuckle a bit at her enthusiasm as she smiles, shaking his hand. Yes. He thinks coming outside was one of the best decisions he made all night. "I have a teacher who always talked about you and your work." That isn’t exactly surprising. He does have a fan following. Normally he rather hates that. Being the center of attention isn’t exactly something he enjoys. But this sort of interaction is the thing he likes about being famous. The instant connection with a smart young lady is worth all the annoying fans. He is smiling now, a genuine smile. And it’s almost like the stuff from earlier never happened at all. Until she starts to scratch her left palm. He freezes, barely registering that Anastasia is still talking and certainly not at all aware of what she’s saying. He barely resists the urge to grab her hand to get a better look. Because he’s not sure from this angle but that looks suspiciously like a rune. An ancient magical rune.
“I’m sorry,” he says, already hating himself. Because he knows how rude this is. How potentially triggering this could very well be for the poor girl who has just been thrust into magic. And the last thing he wants to do is upset the girl who got him to relax so fully even if only for a moment. But this is important. He can feel it. Whatever is on her palm, it isn’t normal. And it certainly has to be looked into, the sooner the better. It doesn’t matter how much he loathes doing it. It has to be done. “I realize that this is… abnormal, but… that mark on your hand looks like a magic rune. Can I see it?” There. Telling her as much as possible right up front. Hopefully that will keep her from getting worried. At least a little. Because he really doesn’t want to cause her harm but… but this could potentially be very very bad. And if it his, he has to figure out how to stop it.

“I’m sorry,”
His expression changed making her smile slip and for a moment, she thought she'd overstepped a line with her last comment until she followed the line of his gaze and realized he was staring at her palm. Self consciously, she closed her hand into a fist.
She hated the stares she got of the unusual burn mark. One that resembled a design as if branded. Stares of pity and questioning looks as if people automatically assumed she'd been abused as a child, as if some cruel parent had found some sick pleasure in burning their little girl not with cigarettes as was more common with this type of abuse but some sort of metal object.
“I realize that this is… abnormal, but… that mark on your hand looks like a magic rune. Can I see it?”
His tone was not one of pity and she found some relief. It'd been more along the lines of intrigue as if his professional interest had been piqued. Magical rune? she thought, looking up at him with mild curiosity. She thought he must be mistaken as there'd been no magic or magical items around her house as a child. Of course there was no way to confirm that as the house and everything within, including her parents, had burned to the ground.
"I hate to disappoint," she said, holding up her fisted hand, "but it's just the fancy design from a door knob as I was escaping a fire." Self consciousness caused her to hesitate but finally, she slowly started to open her palm.

Headmaster Ogden
**Enters from Hogwarts Great Hall**
It seemed he had stumbled across just who he was looking for and not a moment too soon. "I hate to disappoint, but it's just the fancy design from a door knob as I was escaping a fire." Nick was a smart man, he didn't need to be focusing his efforts on something as trivial as a scar... With as polite an interruption as he could manage Marius began, "There was a time I sought out a nice perch like yourselves to enjoy a nice Scottish rain or the view of a beautiful sunset. Two very different yet equally peaceful experiences."
The Headmaster had not intended to startle and gave them a moment to make sure all was well before he continued. "Such much more desirable than the hustle and bustle of having everyone in one room, I'm sure you both agree. If I may, Anya, shall I show you to your room? Your belongings will be waiting for you there."

"I hate to disappoint," "but it's just the fancy design from a door knob as I was escaping a fire." He highly doubts that. If he’s right there is no way that’s possible unless the builders got the door handle from some ancient ruins. His curiosity his piqued. He can’t help but lean in as she slowly starts to open her hand. He wishes she’d go a bit faster. From what he’s seeing he thinks he might recognize this from somewhere. But he won’t know for sure until he can see it all. He holds his breath in anticipation as he slowly sees more and more.
"There was a time I sought out a nice perch like yourselves to enjoy a nice Scottish rain or the view of a beautiful sunset. Two very different yet equally peaceful experiences." He jumps at the sudden voice, twisting instantly to see the headmaster standing below them. He frowns a bit at the sudden scare and the words. There was a time, blah blah blah. The man makes it sound like he’s past what he no doubt sees as childishness now. And of course he’d ruined the moment. Anya’s hand is no longer open out for him to see. He tries hard not to grit his teeth in annoyance. "Such much more desirable than the hustle and bustle of having everyone in one room, I'm sure you both agree. If I may, Anya, shall I show you to your room? Your belongings will be waiting for you there." He talks about peace but doesn’t he realize he’s interrupted theirs? And doesn’t he realize that the way he asked that question he left little room for argument? It almost sounds like a command, the busy superior rushing around his underlings. He takes a deep breath to calm himself, reminding himself that he’s had a bad day and really ought not to be thinking such thoughts about the headmaster. He’s probably just overreacting. Still, he wants the man gone.
“If you tell me where it is I’ll show her,” he calls down, hoping to get rid of the man that way. He almost groans then as he realizes he isn’t even wearing his wizarding robes. Marius has seen him without his wizarding robes on when he’s supposed to be wearing them. Could this day get any worse? Really? Because he isn’t sure it can. Though he’d thought that a few unfortunate events ago. He really needs some of his Johnny Walker. “That is, if you’d prefer that Anya,” he adds, not wanting to pressure her. He doesn’t need to go accidentally making her day bad just because of how crummy his is turning out. But he hopes she sides with him. He really does need to figure out what the ruin is.

"There was a time I sought out a nice perch like yourselves to enjoy a nice Scottish rain or the view of a beautiful sunset. Two very different yet equally peaceful experiences."
Startled, Anya stood and turned toward Marius and the castle as he spoke, completely forgetting about the discussion of her burn mark. She hadn't thought much about wandering off from the antechamber but now that she was facing him, she felt a little guilty. "It is very beautiful here," she agreed.
"Such much more desirable than the hustle and bustle of having everyone in one room, I'm sure you both agree. If I may, Anya, shall I show you to your room? Your belongings will be waiting for you there."
With a nod, she started toward the ledge intending to ask what belongings as she hadn't brought anything except the book from the bookstore but paused to look at Dr. McCormick as he spoke.
“If you tell me where it is I’ll show her,”
Anya glanced back at Marius for his reaction but her attention was pulled again by Dr. McCormick.
“That is, if you’d prefer that Anya,”
Now she definitely felt a confusion as she looked to Marius on her left and Dr. McCormick on her right. She had no idea exactly what was going on or what form of relationship the two had but it felt like there was perhaps a little animosity there, at least coming from her right. This must be what a child of divorce feels like... or that dog on Annie, she mused as the scene where Annie tried to call the dog to her flashed in her mind. This was an uncomfortable predicament. She did not wish to offend either but Marius was the one who seemed to be in charge. It was bold of the doctor to overstep Marius' request in lieu of what Anya herself may prefer.
But Marius had saved her. He'd been the one to bring her here and he'd been so kind. She knew neither of them for very long but Marius longer nonetheless. Plus she felt if she'd chosen to allow Dr. McCormick to escort her, it may put him in trouble with the headmaster.
"It's kind of you to offer, Dr. McCormick, but I have a lot of things to go over with the headmaster. I'd love to hear more about your digs though sometime," she added as she climbed down.

"It's kind of you to offer, Dr. McCormick, but I have a lot of things to go over with the headmaster. I'd love to hear more about your digs though sometime," Anya tells him. And then she’s climbing down the wall. He’d just made her choose hadn’t he? That must have been difficult. He should have just kept his mouth shut. He’d only made things hard for her when he tried to help. Story of his life. And she’d picked Marius. He’d made her pick and she’d picked the headmaster. Of course she had. Who wouldn’t? The man was nicer, more powerful, better looking. He actually had his life together instead of starting at the smallest sounds and burying himself in work. Marius was likable, Nick was not. Never had been. No wonder she chose to go with him.
“Yeah sure,” he mumbled in response to Anya’s suggestion, probably a bit too late. At least she hadn’t mentioned the mark on her hand to Marius. He would really look like a fool if it turned out to actually just be a burn from a fancy door handle. He sighs inwardly. He just has to keep making things worse for himself. The day isn’t even over yet. He still has to get back to his office where he will hopefully meet with Tharin before he has to talk to the headmaster about the unfortunate incident that he’d just happened to be witness too. And then he’s going to have a glass of Johnny Walker and go to bed. It’s the only acceptable way to end a day like today. So with that thought keeping him going (isn’t that pathetic?) he starts working his way down as well. No use sitting up here all night. He has things to do.

Headmaster Ogden
They had said their goodbyes but the Headmaster was not trying to cut short a chance for Anya to get to know her professors. It would be good for her to make those connections since he would not always be able to be with the new students. "You're welcome to join us Professor McCormick. Until Ms Novak is sorted she will be staying on the third floor with the others."
Marius slowed his pace to give the other man time to catch up if he wished but he turned his attention to the girl by his side. "I think you will find your accommodations quite informative. There have been so many happenings at this school especially in recent years, we decided to dedicate a section in the adjoining wing to those individuals involved. A more local flavor than what you'll find in your magical histories studies. There are books detailing much the same facts but I think you will find the display's in the museum wing much more palatable. And it is available at your leisure of course."

"You're welcome to join us Professor McCormick. Until Ms Novak is sorted she will be staying on the third floor with the others." He freezes even as his feet touch the ground. What? The headmaster is offering that he go with them? That doesn’t really make much sense. He looks to see the two walking away from him at a slow pace, apparently in case he should decide to join them. He doesn’t. He just stands and watches them leave, lets them get ahead of him. He ignores Anya when she casts a look back at him. He’s too tired to try to work out what her look means anyway.
He sighs when he’s left alone, reveling in the relative peace. He doesn’t want to go back inside. He doesn’t want to have talk to Tharin about what happened. He doesn’t want to have to deal with Marius. He can’t even figure out the guy in a normal situation. Talking about a student attacking some others… well that’s not going to be fun. He runs a hand through his hair before reluctantly pulling out his wand. As much as he’d love to run off to one of his many hiding spots, he has things to do. He can hide away later tonight when nothing is expected of him.
He uses a spell to get his wizard robes back in place before entering the building again. He walks briskly towards his office. He hopes Tharin remembers to come. They really need to get the lad’s story straightened out if they want to keep him out of trouble. Soon, soon this bloody day will be over. He just has to hang on a bit longer.

Rubeus Hagrid stomped through the Hogwarts courtyard, pushing a 12’ tall x 3’ long x 3’ long chest that was covered with a thick purple sheet that glimmered in such a way that onlookers decided to look away without realising that this was so. The case has wheels on it’s bases. The case shakes as Hagrid pushes it through the thin snow. Hagrid grunts as he pushes the case one-handed, the tip of child’s pink umbrella held ready, pointed at the case.
Hagrid grumbles and mumbles to himself continuously as he walks. Occasionally he growls at unseen assailants.

First day’s classes finished. To be honest Sherlock was daydreaming most of the time. You didn’t really learn something important on your first day after summer vacation. That was a fact. Everyone wanted to talk about what they did, where they went or something like that. Even some of the teachers. So you don’t miss something while you went off the brain. So he did...
But now The Levitating Quills had an appointment for their first rehearsal after vacation. That was something that really matters. So Sherlock hurried up to the courtyard, his bass and his violin cases in his hands. And he certainly didn’t forget his shoulder bag to carry all his notebooks – full of his songs, stories and thoughts. It wasn’t surprising that he was the first one who arrived. He always tried to be punctual. It seemed to be one of his typical fads. Of course, there were some other students – every year represented -, but he didn’t mind. Most students knew their band, and very much liked to listen to them.
The young man went to the middle of the court and took a seat. His animal companion Watson sat on the top of his head disguised by changing his appearance to the color of Sherlock’s hair. Calmly Sherlock took his violin and began to play a classic play. He didn’t need to tune his instruments, because he did it every day early in the morning. As usual, he got lost in his play, closed his eyes and didn’t notice anything around him any longer.

As much as Dray liked to learn, to grow into becoming the most amazing witch she could be. However, nothing beat kicking it with her friends. She loved spending time with them and playing some music and the rest of this year was set but next year everything was uncertain.
Sherlock, well, he was graduating next year and that meant they would not only be short a bass player- but a friend. Everyone else in the band was six years but when Dray heard Sherlock play she couldn't help but beg him to join.
She stopped off at the great hall and grabbed a quick snack, just something to hold her over until she ran off to her actual meal. As she neared the entrance hall, she could hear the sounds of Sherlock's violin. As she neared, she quietly pulled out her guitar and started to join in. She wasn't classically trained but she could play along with anything.
The usual crowd gathered around to listen, expecting a classical show to start. It sometimes happened if everyone from the band ran a little late.

Even if he got lost in his own play, he noticed Dray‘s appearance. Not because of her steps but because of the guitar joining him. The students around weren’t meet with disappointment. They got their classical show. The other band mates arrived by degrees and also started to play along without saying a word. After a while – maybe about ten minutes altogether – they finished.
Sherlock glanced at his friends, one after another, a sweet smile on his face. „It feels good to see you all again. I really missed those times hanging around here and letting our thoughts flow.“
Unlike Dray, he didn’t think about what would be after he had to leave Hogwarts one year before all the others. He lived in the here and now. He‘ll think about a solution when it will be time for this. And he was sure he will find one.
Suddenly his eyes were focused on Dray. „A little Snack before evening meal?!“, he gave her a rhetorical question while flicking the suspicious crumbs away. „Deary, you are the nemesis of every single delicacy!“ A friendly joke, no criticism or blame. „Someone should write a song about a cute girl on the hunt for sweets. Any volunteers?!“ Now some of the others couldn’t choke laughter. Also some students in the audience.

"It feels good to see you all again. I really missed those times hanging around here and letting our thoughts flow." Dray smirked and placed her guitar down to finish the apple she had floated next to her in wait.
"This is going to be a good year, Sherlock, I can feel it." Dray couldn't help but agree.
"A little Snack before evening meal?!" She watched as he flicked some crumbs away on her robe. "Deary, you are the nemesis of every single delicacy! Someone should write a song about a cute girl on the hunt for sweets. Any volunteers?!" The group gave a chuckled before Dray gave a playful slap of her hand to Sherlock's arm.
"Stop that," She knew he was being playful and she appreciated that. She liked seeing this side of him, "and you know me, I love my sweets and snacks." she finished off her apple and waved her wand to set it on fire to burn away the core. "Alright, to start let's take a request. Shout them out!" Various old songs were thrown out to them, Hufflepuff God, Pumpkin Beer, Huffin', The Pitch, all good songs.

"Stop that." „Just as you wish.“, Sherlock responded smirking. "And you know me, I love my sweets and snacks." „Who knew?“, he riposted in a little sarcastic tone, but with a disarming smile. After weeks without his band members, he really missed moments like this. Especially their jokes. So it was hardly surprising that he himself was in a joking mood, too. His eye watched her victim (= the core of the beaten apple) burning down. Anyway, she didn’t litter it. Good girl.
"Alright, to start let's take a request. Shout them out!" While Dray spoke to the audience, Sherlock put his violin back in its case and took his bass instead. It was an abundance of possible songs, but they won’t have enough time to play them all until they had to leave for the evening meal. Sherlock, as is mostly the case, found a solution. „I think we can please everyone. Let’s play a medley of all these songs.“ But Sherlock wouldn’t be himself if he wouldn’t add a feature that would increase the degree of complexity. He loved intellectual challenges. „But“, he began to explain his proposal, „we will extemporize. We start with Hufflepuff God – and whenever any of us wants to, he or she starts playing or singing another song. The rest of us has to switch as soon as possible.“ The young magician faced them one by one. „What do you think? Are you ready to take up this challenge?“

"Who knew?"
"Someone is feeling sassy today," Dray chuckled as his sarcastic tone. Everyone started to throw out song names and Sherlock being Sherlock decided to throw out his own idea. "Medley, I guess we can do that."
"What do you think? Are you ready to take up this challenge?"
"You know how much I hate challenges... Kidding, I love them! Okay, Hufflepuff God to start- starting off the chorus and right into the second verse," Dray waved her hand over her electric guitar to give it volume it needed and started right in after a three count.
(Chorus)
And when I leave these hallowed halls I'll leave my mark upon the wall. For I'm the Hufflepuff God!

"You know how much I hate challenges... Kidding, I love them!" And that was the Dray he loved - of course not in the way a man should love his wife. Just the way a young man should love a good friend.
Dray acted as is usual and gave him and the others a three count to start. The students around rejoiced. Especially the Huffelpuffs. All of them really liked this song.
It took at least a minute before someone of his bandmates dared to start another song. It was their drummer. He decided to play The Pitch by playing the intro of this song. (His friend was able to take along his full drum kit thanks to his magic bag.) It wasn‘t long before the others react to the first change. And then they did one after another.
Time seemed to fly by. An intent look at his wristwatch told Sherlock that they only got time for one last song. And that it was time for him to change the actual song. He made use of a little pause for the bass to grab his wand to speak a spell. While his bass now played on his own, the young man picked up his violin again and started to play the melody of A Boy Named Diggory. Because of the upcoming Tri Wizzard Tournament this year at Hogwarts again he thought it would be a good homage to Cedric Diggory, who died during the one Lord Voldemort had used for his return. And he also liked that song Dray had written a while ago.
"When his name was called he stood so tall
The best of us was he.
A boy who faced the dark lord,
A boy named Diggory.",
he started to sing the first verse knowing that Dray will join in. It was one of those rare moments when he also uses his voice.

Dray heard the change and switched quickly to The Pitch, a smile on her face. "Oh yes, here we go!" Drag changed cords and the group went wild.
"Broomstick in one hand, you're ready to make your stand. To fly above the pitch, you got that deep itch. You're ready to fly, up into the sky. the whistle blows, the players pose, up, up you fly. Dash along the pitch, make it quick..."
Again the tune changes, Dray smirked and switched with ease. She continued down the set list, losing all track of time but she knew Sherlock would be watching. The sound of Sherlock's voice rang out, she loved hearing him sing.
When his name was called he stood so tall The best of us was he. A boy who faced the dark lord, A boy named Diggory.
"He faced a dragon with bravery and mermaids to save his love. He navigated the maze and took hold of the cup."

"No one knows what happened that day with the boy who lived but he brought back our hero Cedric Diggory." They finished the song together.
The public clapped.
"It has been a pleasure to play with you this evening", Sherlock said to the others while stowing his instruments away back into their cases. He took a bow to the students around who listened to their little concert. Watson nearly fell off the young man’s head because he chilled out a bit during the play and didn’t expect Sherlock to bow. "Thanks to all of you. You were a great audience."
A group of five students – three girls and two boys from Hufflepuff’s 3rd class – approached the band. They called themselves the Little Levitating Quills Fanclub. "It was so cool! Great as always.", they said. Sherlock gave them a charming smile.
"I think now it is time to leave for lunch. No one of you wants to be the culprit if our dear Dray had to go to bed hungry as a hunter", he answered stony-faced. Watson caught a fly with his tongue on cue.

Nearly two months have passed.
Yesterday, October 30th, the delegates from the other schools had arrived for the Triwizard Tournament and a celebration feast was held in the Great Hall where the Goblet of Fire and Triwizard Cup were presented.
Today, October 31st, 2017, the Goblet of Fire remains available in the Chamber of Reception for interested participants to drop in a parchment with their name until the Hallowe'en Feast tonight.

***Anya enters from Chamber of Reception***
Anya had released Ralph from her cupped hands as soon as she'd stepped foot out of the Chamber of Reception. She didn't pause her running to see if Ralph continued to follow or if he might have gone back to Callum. She was sure Ralph hadn't appreciated being trapped but she sure as bloody hell hadn't appreciated that topping to the several layered mortification cake that she'd been served up.
Again, she cursed the fact she'd decided to stick around so long. None of it would have happened if she'd headed for the library much earlier as she'd originally intended.
Anya found herself heading to the place she'd first gone to for solitude on that first day. She eyed the path she'd taken that day and as predicted, the robes were a nuisance. Definitely not ideal for climbing. She removed it, wrapping her journal securely within it before placing it on one of the ledges of the archways, then climbed in her street clothes.
The cold and the snow made it more difficult but she still managed it with impressive timing, the ability to do so reminding her of her old life. Anya stepped carefully on the snowy roof until she got to the spot from that first day, directly across from the door that led into the castle. She used her booted foot to shove the snow clear on a spot of the roof for her to sit. Anya settled down and looked out at the mountains and the water. She took in the momentary peace and solitude to let herself forget where she was and what had happened. It was only her and nature, though nature was reminding her of the coldness of winter and Anya pushed away the thought that maybe she should have draped her robes over her shoulder and put it back on once she got up here.
Ah well. She pulled her legs up and wrapped her arms around them, bundling for warmth as the sky started to put on a sunset show.

Slinking around the darkest corners of the snow engulfed courtyard was a plotting mind in all of his isolated glory. Ash indulged himself in the courtyard that was as barren as a cemetery as the white flakes fell to the ground. No sounds, just the eerie silence of winter. Ash stood particularly still as he leaned against one of the inner walls of the courtyard. Things were beginning to come together, his plan was almost in motion. Soon enough, he would be the orchestrater, the twins his puppets. They had already come in contact with one another, he could sense it. "By the name of the greatest dark lords of our time, may the plan begin it's course and the prophecy be fulfilled. For our world be changed once and for all," Ash silently chanted to himself, keeping his intention strong. He would not fail, not this time.
Suddenly Ash became interrupted by the entrance of a presance within the courtyard. His eyes darted over towards the ledge of the archway to find a girl climbing up and over to the rooftop of the arch. "Well, well...this is curious, isn't it?" Ash spoke in a surprised tone to himself as he watched Anya as she took in the view. His glazed eys shifted from Anya to her robes which she had left down below, a notebook poking out from underneath. Ash was at Hogwarts for a specific reason, he knew he had no time to waste on side projects. However, in all of his wise years he hadn't seen anyone like Anya's kind. Chuckling to himself amusingly, Ash could not help himself any longer and silently slithered down the inside of the archway and towards her robes. He had to know as much about her, and her intriguing scar that decorated her little hand. Coming across Anya's robe, Ash put a single hand outward and swiped her notebook, knowing she was too occupied by the breathtaking sight of the mountains to notice anything going on beneath her. A grin spread wide on Ash's pale face as he tucked the notebook into the inside of the front of his robe, floating away to a place where he could ponder the book's pages in peace.
