Nicolas
***Nicolas enters from Hogwarts Nicholas McCormick's Office***
He walks down the corridor, ready to go get to the great hall and the feast they are all required to attend. Truth be told, he really just can’t wait for the feast to be over. He would never tell anyone else this, but he actually finds the whole thing to be a bother. The worst part has got to be the sorting. There are just so many problems with it, and so he hates having to see it each year. He’s about to start a mental rant when he hears a familiar call. “Master Nick!”
He turns to see a house elf standing there. He smiles warmly. “Radbey,” he greets the castle servant. “What are you doing up here?” The elf should be down in the kitchens right now making the feast. He would never be up here like this unless something important was going on.
“It’s Peeves Master Nick,” the elf says. He instantly starts toward the kitchens as the elf continues his explanation. “He is throwing stink bombs at us sir,” he states. Nick sighs and thinks things through. He was going to get to the feast early anyways. He might as well help. “The others wanted to take care of it ourselves sir, but Radbey knew we couldn’t.”
“Yes, I’ll be happy to help Radbey,” he says, smiling at the elf. “It’s the least I can do for all the delicious cookies you give me.” So now, to go stop Peeves. He starts mentally preparing himself for the inevitable battle. This is not going to be enjoyable, but it will probably be better than the sorting that will follow.

Nicholas
He stops in the corridor outside the kitchen, listening to the frightful cries of the house elves and the gleeful giggles of Peeves. Radbey looks up at him worriedly as he thinks the situation through. If Peeves is throwing stink bombs… A plan forms and a smile comes across his face. Of course, he only has the first step of a plan, but Peeves is so unpredictable that planning out any further would be pointless. “Does Master Nick have a plan?” Radbey asks. Nick looks down at the house elf and gives him a reassuring grin.
“Indeed, I do,” he replies before opening the door to the kitchen, wand at the ready.

Tharin
***Tharin enters from Hosmede Train Station***
"That girl is going to pay." Tharin muttered under his breath as he made his way through the corridors to the Great Hall. He was amost there when he rounded a corner and ran into Professor McCormick causing both of them to tumble to the ground. For some reason, the scent of orange blossoms heavily coated the professor.

***Enters from Hogwarts Kitchens***
Nick walks quickly down the hallway in annoyance. Peeves has made him late. Not overly late, thankfully, but late enough for him to have to force his way through the students. Or maybe not. If he walks fast enough he could just make it. He refuses to run though, for two reasons. Number one, it’s unbecoming of a teacher. After all, don’t want the students getting ideas. And secondly he never quite figured out how to run in wizard robes. He always trips himself up. That is exactly why he wishes it was appropriate to wear muggle clothes all the time. They are comfier, more practical, and don’t make him feel like he’s cosplaying.
He’s walking briskly, not really paying too much attention to where he’s going, when he suddenly collides with someone. He finds himself on the ground and he looks over to see who was in such a terrible rush. “Tharin?” he questions in shock. Why did he already have to run into the kid? Why couldn’t he have at least left him alone until the first day of class tomorrow? Pulling himself out of those thoughts, he sees that something is actually wrong. “What’s happening?” he questions as he moves back onto his feet, ready to help the prefect.

Tharin
“Tharin?” Professor McCormick questioned in shock. "What’s happening?” The professor pushed himself to his feet, ready to help Tharin. Tharin ran his hand through his hair, somewhat glad to see the professor. Professor McCormick had known how horrible Tharin's father had been. The professor had been there when Tharin's dad died. Because of this, Tharin felt he could be more open to the professor.
"It's nothing really, professor, I just need to speak with a girl who was part of a brawl on the train today." Tharin admitted. "She's the new girl from America. She broke a student's nose. I'm hoping to speak to her without causing a scene in front of everyone else." He decided not to mention the knife because he really did not wish to end up in the Headmaster's office for not speaking up sooner.

"It's nothing really, professor, I just need to speak with a girl who was part of a brawl on the train today." A brawl on the train? Well, it seems the students are starting the trouble a bit early this year. "She's the new girl from America. She broke a student's nose. I'm hoping to speak to her without causing a scene in front of everyone else." He nods, taking it in. From what he’s heard of the new girl, she’s had a rough life. It would make sense for her to get in a fight. And as for Tharin… he has to say he’s impressed with the way the lad is handling it even if he gets the feeling that he’s hiding something.
“She’ll be with the first years,” he states, already walking in that direction. “I can step in and request to speak to her in the hall. It shouldn’t be a problem.” No, the problem right now is ignoring all the memories Tharin drags to the surface. A scream echoes through his mind before he can cut it off and he winces a bit, hoping the lad didn’t catch that. Why did he have to run into him already? He hasn’t had time to mentally prepare himself. No, it doesn’t matter. He has a problem to help solve. He can worry about Tharin and memories of the lad’s father later.

Tharin
“She’ll be with the first years,” Professor McCormick stated, already heading in that direction. “I can step in and request to speak to her in the hall. It shouldn’t be a problem.” Tharin could tell the professor was pained and tried to remember exactly how they had fallen.
"Are you okay professor? Did I hurt you when we fell?"

"Are you okay professor? Did I hurt you when we fell?" Well, the lad is definitely observant. He turns to look at Tharin.
“I’m fine,” he says quickly as he tries to think of a way to ease the sudden flare of guilt and make sure Tharin stops worrying. “I just had a run in with Peeves earlier,” he decides upon, hoping that will be enough to get Tharin to stop worrying. And then they’re in the entrance hall and he moves toward the room to the side where the first years should be. That is if they haven’t already left yet. He hopes they’ve caught them in time.

**Snape enters from Great Hall**
Severus took a deep breathe, when he let the door shut behind, but didn't waiste a second to start his way through the corridors. Good thing that his memory was much more better than his eyesight and best thing that the office he was heading to once was his own. The shape of Professor Boyle might brought his eyesight back a little, but was it more like toddling around as a mole.
As Severus was sure everyone instead of the headmaster, who had left the Great Hall for a while, would be in the Great Hall still chatting about the Tri-wizard Tournament, he didn't bother to be as quite as he maybe should have been...

***Nick enters from Hogwarts - Entrance Hall Courtyard***
He was headed back to his office, ready to just get this day over with. But then he saw the new teacher, and he wasn't exactly acting normally. Most of the others were still at the feast, and sure Nick wasn't either. But something about the way the other teacher was hurrying set off alarm bells in his head. And really, being curious about the other man was distracting from his own problems. He had a little time.
"Hello," he greeted the other teacher, coming closer. "You're professor Boyle, right? Welcome to Hogwarts." And now he was going to observe how the other man reacted. He wanted to know if he was up to something. After all, it was always good to know who to keep an eye on.

"Hello,", suddenly a voice let him stop. Hm, maybe there was a chance the greeting wasn't addressed to him?"You're professor Boyle, right? Welcome to Hogwarts." Dammit. Some more minutes Severus stood like frozen. He had to say something in return, right?
Wordless Severus turned around with the face expression of a stone. He immediately remembered the man. It was the Professor, who had interrupted him, while he was talking to the headmaster in the Great Hall. "Hello Sir.", he replied with clenched teeth. Hopefully it wasn't too suspicious to not know the name of this man. But then, it was at least the first year of Professor Boyle at Hogwarts. "Thank you. But if you don't mind, I've to go into my office right now for some preparations." Without waiting a reaction, Severus turned and hoped the Professor was put up with that, though he didn't liked the look at his face at all... But he really really had to hurry now.

"Hello Sir." Well it was obvious the man didn't really like him. Nick was all too used to that though. No one ever liked him and he had to learn to put up with that. "Thank you. But if you don't mind, I've to go into my office right now for some preparations." And then he was turning to walk away. Definitely up to something. It wasn't just a 'I want some private time leave me alone' thing either. Nick knew what that looked like. he did it often enough. No, there was something else here.
So contrary to his nature he slipped into step next to the new teacher. "I'm Professor McCormick," he stated, well aware he sounded like one of those stupid cheerful types he himself hated so much. Oh well. Hopefully he could play it off later as just trying and failing to be friendly despite his typical anti-social nature. "The other teachers call me Nicholas. And I can walk with you to your office. It is your first year after all. I'm sure you'd like to get to know some people." Yep, he hated himself. He sounded too overly cheerful and like one of those people he always tried to avoid. But this was for information, so he was going to stick with it.

"I'm Professor McCormick," So, who asked for that? It seemed for a while both of them were waiting for a reaction from the other one. The Professor behind him for Severus to turn around and as for himself for the Professor to speak up again or better to not and instead let him leave. "The other teachers call me Nicholas. And I can walk with you to your office. It is your first year after all. I'm sure you'd like to get to know some people." Okay, this was not the reaction he was hoping for. This was even worse, as it sounded like the start of a longer conversation. This really was the last he needed right now. Was actually the last he ever needed at all. And to be honest strangely even seemed to be the last the other Professor wanted to do...
Very slowly Severus turned around, pretty much concentrated by this time, as he felt his eyesight loosing every further minute. He tried to keep a straight face though. "I'm sure this is well-meant, Professor, but the day was long and I feel a bit tired for now." Severus could see the mistrust growing on the man's face with every further word. But he had to get rid of him... now. "So I would be more than thankful, if we..." No. Not now. Severus blinked his eyes, when the Professor in front of him started to fade. Luckily his glasses could hide this. But when his eyesight already started to fade, it wouldn't be long until he will loose his mask either. "Now, if you'll excuse me..."

"I'm sure this is well-meant, Professor, but the day was long and I feel a bit tired for now." Yeah, he was being just as annoying as he felt. But that didn't mean the other man wasn't up to something. In fact he was getting more and more sure that he was up to no good. "So I would be more than thankful, if we..." Yep, pausing in the middle of sentences only confirmed his suspicion that something was going on. "Now, if you'll excuse me..."
"Nonsense," he argued, almost rolling his eyes at his overly cheerful voice. "I can't let you wonder the halls when you're alone and tired. Especially since this is your first day. You'll get lost. Just let me see you back to your room and then I'll be out of your hair." He was almost making himself gag really. But his curiosity and need to make sure this man wasn't planning something that might hurt him was overriding everything else. He was paranoid and he knew it, but he wanted to know what the other teacher was up to, and he was willing to act contrary to his nature to do so.

"Nonsense,""I can't let you wonder the halls when you're alone and tired. Especially since this is your first day. You'll get lost. Just let me see you back to your room and then I'll be out of your hair."
"Enough already!", Severus suddenly lost his patience or actually gave up the illusion of being patient with this at any time. His voice wasn't loud, but somehow threatening, as he had laid one hand on the Professor's collar. Looking at the blurred but not invisible sight in the Professor's face, Severus quickly forced himself to calm down immediately. Good thing that nobody was able to see the eyes behind his glasses. With a slow move Severus let up on him, showing a constrained smile. "As I said... it was a long day." His eyesight started to fade completely, his hair to fill up with grey strands. "Good evening, Professor." And with these words Severus turned one last time and kept walking the corridor. By now he saw only contours of it, not more. While doing one step after another, his left hand touched the wall to not stumble or getting confused as for the direction. Right now he was glad he did spent so much time in Hogwarts to be able walking down the corridors blind. Maybe he was out of sight, before the Professor could have noticed something strange was going on. The hands on the wall now and then helped him to find his office by counting the doors. Eventually the echo of a slammed door sounded through the corridors.

NEXT DAY FIRST DAY OF CLASSES
*THE NEXT MORNING- FIRST DAY OF CLASSES*It was unprecedented, Gwen not thinking something entirely through before she agreed to do it. It may have been the overabundance of food consumed at the feast or the weariness of the day's journey setting in. Or her nagging curiosity or the way Oliver's eyes had resembled that of a pleading puppy dog sitting at the dinner table. Whatever the case, she now found herself wandering the halls in the early morning hours of her first day of sixth year classes, looking for an invisible room. At first she was confident that she would be victorious. After all, she required the room, didn't she? So, by all logical thought, the room should just appear to her. But forty minutes later, her spirit depleted from a thus far fruitless search, she sat on the stone floor of the empty corridor berating herself. What was at all logical about a room that appeared by, seemingly, its own will and that could be found anywhere? How did she truly expect to find a room that most Hogwarts students would graduate having never even know existed? Her stomach growled and she thought of the little feast stored in the inner pockets of her robes. When she'd promised Oliver to deliver it to Jake, as Bard was highly less likely to devour it during the night than his puffskein Mad-Eye, she had no idea that keeping that promise would prove to be almost impossible. She just hated to disappoint him. Perhaps she could skip breakfast. Though there was no guarantee that would accomplish anything other than leaving her distracted for her first bit of the day's courses. She sighed loudly, standing up with strict intention of locating the other Ravenclaw- who surely must be awake by now- when something caught her eye. Her brow furrowed and she took a step forward, almost not believing what she was seeing. For the solid stone wall she had been leaning against now housed a sturdy looking wooden door. "Well, 'pose tha's one way'a findin' eh." She reached out to the iron handle but quickly changed her mind. She wouldn't like it at all if the boys went barging into her room unannounced. Glancing both ways down the corridor, which remained empty, she rapt on the weathered wood.

Oliver
It had been a rather restless night. Oliver was disappointed at his failure to get to Jake but when Tharin had rounded the corner on him the hair stood up on the back of his neck. Why was that? Something about the fellow just didn't set right with him and the Ravenclaw couldn't figure out why. It bothered him to the core because it didn't make sense and this dominated his thoughts as he walked down the corridor.
Of course the reason for his lack of sleep had come from Mad-Eye. His pet knew the routine as well as himself or Gwen now for that matter. And as Oliver know he would, the puffskein had attempted to stick his tongue into Jake's share of the feast... from across the whole of the Ravenclaw dormitories. Nothing stops him, except that he was a bit predictable. So here was the boy making a detour to make sure he hadn't failed in that effort as well. Burke had meant to catch Gwen before she left and make sure but the stars hadn't aligned. She was prompt that was for sure. Even for a Ravenclaw. Another thing he really liked about her and... No Oliver stopped that line of thinking real fast. There was the door closing just ahead!

***Anastasia enters from Third Floor Corridor***
People were milling about, most heading in the direction of the Great Hall for breakfast, she figured. She kept to herself, staying away from the areas occupied by students as she looked around. With everyone else wearing robes, she'd stick out in her regular clothes and she was not a fan of attention.
A small furry animal scurried around the arched windows up onto the stone seat slabs and Anya paused, staring. What is that, a cat?, she wondered somewhat doubtfully as she approached. Not a cat... Having no idea that students brought pets, she found it curious that an animal was lurking about the corridor. She looked left and right but the few straggling students didn't pay it any mind. Slowly, she approached and realization dawned on her. "A monkey," she said with wonder. It didn't seem to be bothered by her approach. She hunched in front of it as it sat on the stone seat in front of the windows.
"Hi there," she said, watching the monkey in fascination. She'd never been near a real live monkey. He was absolutely adorable. "What in the world are you doing in a castle in the middle of nowhere?" Hesitantly, she raised her hand, wanting to pet him but leery of the chance of him biting.

Sho looked down at the beautiful petite young women who was reaching out towards him the monkey began to mirror her movements as he reached out and grabbed her finger. Sho's other hand reached out and ran past her palm to her wrist and in one fluid motion he removed a bracelet that hung around her wrist he jumped down from where he was perched down onto Anya's shoulder and crawled down her back launching on to the ground and making a run for the great hall with a present for his best friend in tow.

Anya smiled in delight as the monkey mirrored her and took hold of her finger. Before she could process what had happened, the monkey was taking off. "My bracelet!" she said. She felt a mix of panic and anger. It was the only tangible thing she had left of her parents. "You furry little thief!" she said through clenched teeth.
"Stop! Someone stop that monkey!" she shouted as she ran after it. It disappeared into the Great Hall and she ran in after it.

***Lottie and Drew enter from the Gryffindor Common Room***
"Seventh." "I can scarcely believe that this is my last year here. It seems like yesterday that I was a first year, kicking and screaming at King's Cross because I didn't want to come. I suppose time tends to fly like that."
He looked at her in shock. “Ya dinnae want ta come?” he asked her in shock. He still remembered when he’d gotten his letter. He’d been so worried he wouldn’t, that Gwen would be the one magically inclined and he’d be stuck just being a Muggle. He’d been relieved and excited when he’d found out that he would get to go learn magic to. It was hard to believe that anyone had wanted to stay away.
"From the look of your text book, I'd guess you are a third year?"
“Aye,” he agreed with her, smiling at the fact that she could still remember the books she’d used four years ago. He reckoned Gwen would be observant enough to do that too. “An I’m goin’ ta try out for the Quidditch team this year,” he added. He loved the sport and hoped he’d actually make the team.

“Ya dinnae want ta come?”
Lottie shook her head, not elaborating further. It was entirely too early for stories such as that and she did not feel quite comfortable talking to the boy about her father's death when they'd only just met, no matter how kind he seemed to be. Instead, she seemed please when her guess was confirmed.
“Aye,” “An I’m goin’ ta try out for the Quidditch team this year,”
"Quidditch, eh? That sounds exciting!" Her forehead scrunched thoughtfully, "You know, I've never actually been to a match. Perhaps I will now."
They continued their journey through the hall, the conversation lagging a bit. "Your dialect- Yorkshire, yeah? My father and I traveled the world before...I came here. I found the moors quite lovely."
The two chatted on there way to the Great Hall. It was refreshing to Lottie to find her way through a conversation. One that didn't involve shadows and intrigue. She was sorry to say goodbye to the younger Gryffindor when they reached the Great Hall but alas, there time had been spent. With a promise that she would go to the first Quidditch match of the year, they parted.

** Scorpius Malfoy and two other Slytherin boys enter from the Great Hall **
With his eye on his older brother Callum, Scorpius Malfoy trailed behind to catch up to him. The two brutish Slytherin boys that followed Scorpius like two little puppies obnoxiously shoved and joked with one another as Scorpius was amping himself up like the bigshot he honestly thought he was. That is, the bigshot that their father has built Scorpius up to be. Callum was all by himself, Scorpius thought that he would have at least clued In by now that they were following him.
"Oi! Cal!" Scorpius called out to Callum who was a ways away but not too far ahead, "Where ya goin' in such a rush? Where's the fire?" Scorpius jeered with a chuckle as him and the two other boys caught up to Callum.

Usually his senses were above average, but this time his thoughts were too far away to notice who was following him or that he was followed at all.
"Oi! Cal!", suddenly a loathsome voice made him pause without turning around. While his senses came back and he heard his brother coming closer, Callum let Ralph disappear in the depths of his left sleeve again. "Where ya goin' in such a rush? Where's the fire?"
Callum slowly turned around, a false smile playing around his lips, before he falsely friendly responded: "I suppose not behind me, unless the Trio Infernal has just traversed it." Callum ended up his sentence with another false grin.

Scorpius shot him a judging look from head to toe before proceeding with his antics. "If that was supposed to be some sort of joke, it wasn't very funny," he said with a slight wrinkle of the nose in revolt. Scorpius knew very well that Callum knew which buttons to push, and with that in mind, Scorpius would over try everything and anything to one up his older brother. "I haven't been here very long, and I'm already having the time of my life. It seems as if I'm a big hit," Scorpius boasted, his new sidekicks grinning at his side in agreement, "So, where are your friends?" He asked his brother in a condescending tone, attempting to badger his older brother.

"If that was supposed to be some sort of joke, it wasn't very funny,"
"Why, thank you!", Callum answered with the sobriety of someone being serious about it. He knew which buttons he had to push to anger his arrogant little brother. And that was not to give him what he wanted. Anger in return.
"I haven't been here very long, and I'm already having the time of my life. It seems as if I'm a big hit,"
Callum couldn't do other than raising up one eyebrow at his brother's statement. If that words had come from someone else, he wouldn't take them for real. But it was Scorpius who said them.
"So, where are your friends?"
Callum was showing another false grin. "Oh I just wanted to ask you the same question." He even didn't have to throw a look at his brother's followings to know that the two of them weren't friends with Scorpius but with a Malfoy. And if he won't change eventually, it always would be like that. Actually pretty sad. But Callum quit giving advices to his younger brother long ago, as it was giving advices to a wall. To an ignorant, extremely annoying wall. "So what is it? You don't find someone else to grate on their nerves?", Callum added, his grin vanishing and making way for a bored but not to annoyed expression.

"Oh I just wanted to ask you the same question."
Scorpius snorted in amusement as he threw back a rather cocky look at the two boys, who seemed to chuckle on que. Of course Scorpius was too blinded by his newly founded fame amongst the Slytherin students to notice what his older brother was attempting to point out. As usual, Scorpius disregarded the comment from Callum entirely and carried fourth.
"So what is it? You don't find someone else to grate on their nerves?"
Scorpius's expression went from menacing to innocent very quickly, as if he had taken one mask off and had switched it with another. "I can't check in with my older brother on the first day of school?" Scorpius remarked in an exaggerated polite tone, even though there was absolutely nothing polite about him. "Thought it would be nice of me, you know, seeing you all alone. You should be grateful!" Scorpius crossed his arms as an amusing smile grew on his face. He had little to no respect for his older brother, compliments of their father.

"I can't check in with my older brother on the first day of school?"
Oh, don't be ridiculous... Callum thought, but didn't interrupt. Though his little brother really started to get on his nerves. It wasn't always easy to put on the amused, at the most the lightly annoyed, mask. Actually Scorpius deserved an Oscar for being the most mind-numbing person, to say it in muggle words.
"Thought it would be nice of me, you know, seeing you all alone. You should be grateful!"
"Can't think of someone else's presence to prefer!", Callum uttered with his amused mask and showed a wide smile, as Ralph came out of his hide again to watch the young boys sternly. The most people wouldn't have noticed it as a stern look, but Callum knew his dragon friend long enough to do.

"Can't think of someone else's presence to prefer!"
"Mhmm," Scorpius uttered prudishly. His whole life, Scorpius had been lead to believe that he was special, that he was above his brother Callum even though Callum is the oldest and could easily put his wee brother into his place. Outside of his special treatment at their manor, what Scorpius was not prepared for was harsh reality of the real world, and this was only the first day of school. The real world would soon let him know that the world does not revolve around his pretty little blond head.
As Scorpius was about to proceed to say something else of the demeaning sorts, a little lizard like head peeped out from the left sleeve of Callum's robe, it's tiny gleaming eyes staring down the three boys. As the little creature as it climbed out of where it had suddenly appeared, the trio jumped at the sight, their body language slowly turning from their strong, cocky stance into a slight cower. It was so tiny, it was almost invisible. But the boys noticed, and funny enough, it only took a little creature that was unknown to them to make them frighten.
"What the bloody hell is that thing?!?" Scorpius shrieked, as he had never seen anything like it before in his brother's possession.
