Headmaster's OfficeEntrance Like the Hogwarts Houses, the Headmaster's tower requires a Password from anyone who wishes to gain entry to the room. The tower is guarded by a large stone gargoyle which rarely talks but is capable of doing so
Interior of the Room The headmaster's office itself is a large circular room with many windows and many portraits of old headmasters and headmistresses. The portrait of the immediate predecessor of the current headmaster or headmistress hangs behind the head's desk. It is suggested that this is the largest of the paintings in the room, which, in turn, suggests that the paintings shrink by some degree once it is no longer the portrait of the immediate predecessor of the current headmaster or headmistress. It should be noted that despite Dolores Umbridge's tenure as Headmistress, her portrait never appeared on the wall. Additionally Severus Snape, despite being headmaster and having access to the office, did not have a portrait. Eventually one was installed in tribute to his brave deeds after Voldemort's ultimate defeat. In addition to its duties as the office for the Headmaster, the Head's Tower is the permanent home of the Sorting Hat, which belonged, originally, to Godric Gryffindor, one of the four founders.

Headmaster Ogden
The silence enveloped the man seated behind the large mahogany desk. During the previous year he had updated the finish ever so slightly. He preferred the richer appearance now though it was the same desk as it had always been. The same one he had seen in this office long ago, when he was still a boy. A very different man sat behind this desk then, Albus Dumbledore. They had their differences but, he hoped, they had some strong similarities as well. And one he planned to re-institute this year was how as headmaster, Dumbledore would help students with their homework in Classroom E-13 every Friday. His shoulders slumped. He was working on polishing his speech for the welcoming ceremony later on but he couldn't focus.
Leaning back the man then turned in his chair to view his predecessors on the walls. Minerva McGonagall looked down at him stern but not unkind. He gaze shifted to Severus then to rest on Albus, who appeared to be sleeping as usual. But he knew better than to believe that, he thought with a chuckle to himself. A sigh escaped his lips as he wondered for the 100th time if he would be up there to join them someday... Marius Ogden with his shoulder length brown hair, or gray depending... His unconventional robes ruffled up around him making him look like a large bird as he lay resting in a chair of his own. That thought made him laugh once more. Then he turned back to his desk, to the parchment that sat before him. It was time to finish this so he could tend to his other duties. The most important thing now was making sure everything was ready. The new first years especially deserved as magical and wonderful a night as Hogwarts could give them.

Nick fiddles with the papers in his hands as the headmaster's staircase rises. He isn't sure how the man will react to his request. He has never asked to go on an archeological expedition in the middle of a school year, but this one is important. His muggle contemporaries have discovered a wizard ruin, and if he doesn't go with them on their exploration in a month there is a good chance they will either be killed by magical traps or discover magic. The staircase finally makes it to the top and he knocks on the headmaster's door, hoping the man will understand.

Headmaster Ogden
It seemed as if there was nothing else he could do to the parchment that would make a difference at this point. Changing a line here, moving a sentence there... And then back again. It was as good as it was going to get, the Headmaster was nitpicking at this point. He resolved to leave it be when a knock came at the door.
"No need to knock so close to the celebration. Please, come in." he called. This sort of interruption did not come as a surprise as everyone scurried about the halls finishing last minute chores. And needing a hand from time to time. He pushed his papers aside as the ancient runes teacher entered Marius' office. "How can I help you, Nicholas?"

"I just got a email," he replies, knowing the former Muggle Studies Professor would understand that term. "I know this isn't the best time but I need to respond as quickly as possible. Would it be alright if I took off for about a week in a month?"

Headmaster Ogden
In a month? The news was rather abrupt but it seemed the best laid plans could go awry in mere moments. They had to be prepared to deal with things like this, especially when the muggle world was involved. The professor did make this sound urgent. Marius furrowed his brow as he thought before issuing his response. "I am sure we can work something out, Professor McCormick but what has happened that pulls you away from us so suddenly?"

It seems he was taking it well at least. He usually did of course, but he had worried that since this was such a busy time the headmaster would be vexed at having more to deal with. He was glad to see this wasn't the case. "I am sure you are aware that I work closely with some muggle archeologists?"

"I am sure you are aware that I work closely with some muggle archeologists?"
He was indeed aware, perhaps a little more than the professor knew. Marius always kept close tabs on the connections the staff had with those living outside their circles. "I am aware Nicholas, though rarely have I seen you so worked up as I do now. Have they sent some news?" It was difficult to say from the emotions on Professor McCormick's face whether it was of the exciting or troubling variety. While he was a skilled Legilimens he prefered not to use this power. He knew his colleague would not have come if he had meant to keep secrets.

And out it came. It wasn't the worst news in the world but perhaps something the man should not have to deal with on his own. "You are understandably worried something might remain in those ruins. Something they are not ready to find." Marius turned into himself for a moment leaving the room in silence.
As the seconds ticked on he broke it with a suggestion. "Perhaps that information should be relayed to the ministry. There are a few who might be able to help you, for instance the Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement." It was an understatement, he thought, to say there were a few who could help. But Mrs. Weasley would be one of them. "And there is the matter of your temporary replacement. Did you have anyone in mind professor?"

"You are understandably worried something might remain in those ruins. Something they are not ready to find."
Well yes, of course. Ruins can be dangerous even without throwing magical traps into the mix. Besides, the ministry wouldn't want muggles discovering things, would they? Time ticks by as the headmaster thinks and he wonders what is going on in his mind. He waits patiently for the man to continue.
"Perhaps that information should be relayed to the ministry. There are a few who might be able to help you, for instance the Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement."
That was the reason he wanted to go. He didn't want the ministry involved. Yes magic was involved in this expedition, but the ministry didn't need to be getting involved with his colleagues. He could handle it just fine. He supposed now he had no choice though. There was probably some stupid law requiring him to report something like this, and if he doesn't now the headmaster probably will.
"And there is the matter of your temporary replacement. Did you have anyone in mind professor?"
He is well aware that he should know someone who can take his place, but he doesn't. Sure he knows several wizards qualified in Ancient Runes, but he doesn't get along with any of them. "I hadn't given the matter much thought," he responds, knowing that stating his true feelings would not be wise. "I did just get the email after all."

Headmaster Ogden
As he carried on with his suggestions and concerns Ogden watched his guests emotions play across his face. There was no small amount of frustration there directed at what the headmaster could only assume was him. Apparently he had stuck a nerve. Someone else that did not want the Ministry meddling in their affairs. As he finished speaking Nicholas only addressed one issue. "I hadn't given the matter much thought," he responded, "I did just get the email after all."
"I will put it like this my friend, if you do not wish to report this to the Ministry then we are merely having a hypothetical discussion, is that not correct? He hoped the implication was plain for the teacher to see. He would not have some other person's clandestine operations coming back to haunt him. "As far as your class, please do give it some thought. It would be a shame to see your students in less capable hands should you feel the need to take any personal time, Nicholas." At this point he waited to see if there was anything else he wished to say.

"I will put it like this my friend, if you do not wish to report this to the Ministry then we are merely having a hypothetical discussion, is that not correct?"
The fact that the headmaster had picked up on his mood was... disturbing. He normally did a better job at this sort of thing, but then he didn't have too many conversations with Marius. Besides that this situation was causing him an unusual amount of stress and he never had quite learned how to keep emotions out of his eyes. The fact that Marius was willing to turn a blind eye to this was unexpected and actually a bit worrisome. Shouldn't the headmaster keep things above board? While he did appreciate the attitude as far as he was concerned, what else was the man hiding? He made extra sure to keep all that off his face as Marius continued talking.
"As far as your class, please do give it some thought. It would be a shame to see your students in less capable hands should you feel the need to take any personal time, Nicholas."
"Yes of course," he agrees. He will have to pick the person he can tolerate the most and hope his replacement does not tell the students bad things about him. Most would due to his muggle affiliations. "I will think about it. Now, unless there is anything you need from me at the moment I have some last minute preparations to take care of before the students arrive."

The necessity of his own actions wore on him more than a little. It wasn't so long ago that he would have insisted Professor McCormick take the high road. But this was his quest, the decision was his. He was about to dismiss the man when he added, "Nicholas, I think finding someone to trust goes far beyond just who you would leave to care for your students. We can not do everything alone. That will be all, my friend." he finished with a genuine smile.

"Nicholas, I think finding someone to trust goes far beyond just who you would leave to care for your students. We can not do everything alone. That will be all, my friend."
He hates it how the headmaster calls him friend. Who is he to say they are friends when they barely even talk outside of work? And as for not doing everything alone, the man is dead wrong. He's bee doing everything on his own ever since his parents forced him to go to Hogwarts, and it's always gone just fine. The headmaster gives him a smile and all it does is aggravate him more, but he hides that away. "Thank you," he replies, letting the headmaster decide what exactly he's being thanked for. At least the man gave him leave. He turns then and exits the office, wanting to go reply to the email. He had an expedition to go on.

Headmaster Ogden
After the Professor had gone the tension still hung heavy in the air. He did not know what Nicholas was thinking but something had set him off, below the surface. He started to wonder if there was something in those ruins that Professor McCormick did not want anyone to know about. He started to draft a different letter, one when finished he would need to think over before he acted upon. The one thing Marius did resolve on was that he would be keeping a closer eye on the man over the next few weeks...

Headmaster Ogden
The headmaster just couldn't find himself able to concentrate after his last visitor. He had made one last attempt at his speech but it was not to be. What occupied his thoughts now was this uneasy feeling that had settled over him. Marius could not put his finger on the cause. He just felt uncomfortably warm. On a hunch the man closed his eyes and traveled over hills and greens, countryside and city alike to a quaint little store he knew very well.
What he saw was disturbing. Flames licked across the center of the shop and was starting on the walls as a group of boys ran from the front, leaving a young girl behind. She struggled with the back door and with a little effort she was through and into the back alley. Opening his eyes Marius did not waste any time as he leap from behind his desk. Without a word and standing at his full height the Headmaster apparated out of the room, and out of Hogwarts all together.

As they apparated into the room the man took several large strides away from the girl and then turned on her slowly. He did not know what to make of this one but Ogden did not like many of the traits she seemed to be cultivating in herself. A daughter of a Slytherin, abandoned, and it seemed she had rejected their world as entirely as one could. Why then was the minister wasting both their time? He was not ready though to deal with anything now, however. The situation needed to remain... compliant.
"You do not want to be here... I do not blame you." There was always a way to reach out to someone. Marius just needed to find it with this girl, and fast. "You and I both do not have a choice here so I propose a truce. Until our situation can change let me help you make this as painless as possible? You handled yourself well enough before you became aware of our world, correct?"

Kaeden
Kaeden tumbled weightlessly through the air and quickly shut her eyes and screamed to try and block out the feeling of magic on her skin. The feeling lasted only a few seconds, and then Kaeden fought against the need to puke. HOW DARE HE USE MAGIC ON ME! She heard Marius step away from her and carefully opened her eyes. They were in his office.
"You do not want to be here... I do not blame you. You and I both do not have a choice here so I propose a truce. Until our situation can change let me help you make this as painless as possible? You handled yourself well enough before you became aware of our world, correct?"
"Shut up, Marius." Kaeden turned and started walking towards the door before she could do something that would get her in worse trouble, "You were nothing to me during the summer, and just because it's fall doesn't mean we're suddenly friends." Just shut up Kaeden!

Headmaster Ogden
"Shut up, Marius." The girl's temper was getting much worse... She was being thrust into a world she didn't seem to want to see the bright side of. It was unfortunate of the ministry to put her in that position but she was not even making an attempt. "So that is your choice?" He was willing to try something new, it was the start of a new year after all.
"You do not have to like me, or what we are trying to do but I am willing to make some concessions with you still. In return there are expectations of every student in this school. You are not an exception. You will refer to your teachers as Professor. And there will be no violence towards anyone, with magic or otherwise."
He gave a pause to let that sink in but not long enough for a rebuttal. "If you can agree to that you will find no greater ally. But if you reject me... I can help you no longer. Do you know what they do to people like that?" One final pause for effect but the Headmaster drove his point home. "They take your memories. You have a spark in you and if you do not learn then it is dangerous. To you and those around you. They will make you into something less than yourself and you will remember nothing of this life you have lived. To some that is a blessing, but to others... a curse. Living a restless life and never knowing why!"
He was not threatening the girl but this was serious and he did not have much time. "You have had a difficult experience but it can be a defining moment. You can choose for what end but I implore you, do not let someone else make the decision for you by continuing down this road. I will leave you to think on that for a time. I will return." He knew right were to find her because the door to his office would not open without his permission. With that the older man was gone.

Kaeden
"So that is your choice?" He asked, but it was more of a statement. "You do not have to like me, or what we are trying..." Oh blah blah blah! I've heard this same speech a thousand times. Doesn't anyone have a unique thought? Why does everyone have to state that I don't have to like them? Whoever said I had to? No one, that's who!
Marius paused. Can you read my thoughts? Your robe looks like you stole it from a hobo! His expression didn't change. So I guess you can't, sucker!
"If you can agree to that you will find no greater ally." Agree to what? "But if you reject me..." Oh boo hoo! It probably wouldn't be the first time someone rejected your ugly face. "I can help you no longer." I don't care about your 'help' in the first place! "Do you know what they do to people like that?"
He paused again. Is he trying to have a dramatic moment? "They take your memories. You have a spark in you and if you do not learn then it is dangerous. To you and those around you. They will make you into something less than yourself and you will remember nothing of this life you have lived. To some that is a blessing, but to others... a curse. Living a restless life and never knowing why!" He must not have any memories that he would pay to forget. Lucky for him, but not everyone can have the perfect cushioned life.
Marius gave her that 'Why don't you think I'm as important as I think I am?' look. "You have had a difficult experience but it can be a defining moment. You can choose for what end but I implore you, do not let someone else make the decision for you by continuing down this road. I will leave you to think on that for a time. I will return." With that the older man was gone.
Kaeden waited a moment after he left and then started laughing. "You're a complete idiot. Do you really think a locked door can keep me in here?" Kaeden strode to the door and then pulled her lock picks out of her boot. After a few seconds she heard the satisfying click of the lock opening. "This place is full of idiots."
She pulled on the door, but it didn't budge. "So I guess you're a push not a pull." Kaeden said to the door with a chuckle. She pushed on the door. It still didn't budge. "What the heck?"
Kaeden began feeling through the thin crack between the door and the frame. What was holding the door shut? After feeling as high as she could reach with no resistance, Kaeden pushed a chair in front of the door and continued feeling to the top of the door. Nothing.
"Okay, so maybe there is something actually in front of the door." She didn't want to let the idea that she was actually stuck sink in. She couldn't let it. Kaeden threw the chair back towards the rest of the office and it broke with a satisfying crack. Kaeden smiled and check under the door to find what was blocking it. Still Nothing. Kaeden placed her picks back in her boot, stood up, and kicked the wall.
"I hate magic!" She screamed at the door, and then turned back to the office to find a different way out. "No! No way!" The chair that had just broken was as brand new. Kaeden marched over and slammed the chair against the desk, breaking it again. Then she stepped back in horror as the chair mended itself once more. "This is not happening!" Kaeden began breaking everthing she could get her hands on. Lamps, drawers, papers, gadgets, etc. Each object mended itself good as new each time. "No! No, no, no, no, no!"
Kaeden ran to the window and threw it open. The ground was a long way down. Kaeden took a deep breath; she had to get out of that room. Besides, the stones were set just right that she could probably get plently of hand and foot holds. Kaeden had just began climing out of the window when a portrait on the wall swung open to reveal a passageway.
"Oh thank goodness!" Kaeden pulled herself back into the room and quickly closed the window. Her hands were shaking and goosebumps ran across her skin. Kaeden took another deep breath to calm her nerves and then stepped into the tunnel, pulling the portrait shut behind her.

[Sequel of the RP in Corridor 2nd Floors (Severus and Sirius)] Suddenly the man – he still didn´t mention his name – forced him back to erectness. He was non-considerate and seemed to be annoyed. Oh dear – what a launch! Finally the strange stranger tried to explain the way to the headmaster‘s office to Sirius, but then he interrupted himself and asked the student to follow him. Did he do so because he thought Sirius wouldn´t find it by himself? By the way - he already had proceeded anyway...
„Don´t be ridiculous.“ Sirius pulled himself together with clenched teeth. What the hell did this guy think who he was?! But he didn´t want to clash with a teacher – at least not on his first day at Hogwarts. Of course, the son of a famous Quidditchplayer wasn´t an exemplary student and had trouble with some teachers in his former school! (for example flights with his broom straight through the floors) So he pretended to be the cowed girl and hurried to follow the vicious buzzkill. Fortunately Corvus kept his trap shut.
***Severus and Sirius (both in disguise) entered from a Corridor to the Headmaster’s Office***
It was damn nasty walking around with the tight-lipped fellow. Sirius hoped that this one wouldn´t be his teacher, and if true at least in one of his extraordinarily good subjects.
When they arrived the entrance to Mr.Ogden’s office, his conductor covered Sirius' ears and said something that he couldn´t hear because of the man's hands. A password. His sight which he gave to Sirius seemed to say: YOU are NOT allowed to use this entrance without one of the teachers! And this was obvious although the man wore dark glasses. Sirius was remind to his former school - it was the same there. But HE knew the password, because he was on first-name terms with the director...
Then the man got his hands off and they both waited silently for an answer respectively an open door.

The Headmaster had been collecting a new batch of vials on his desk when he heard the stairs beyond his door begin to unfurl. Smiling he lifted his head from his business and called out "Come," with a lighthearted inflection. This must be the new sixth year. Seemed to be more than a few of those this time around. It was a shame they wouldn't have more time here. Marius was proud of Hogwarts after all, but he was sure their previous institutions had been glad to have them. An image of his interactions with Kayden flashed before his eyes. Well most of them Ogden thought, with a bitter snort.
His project would have to wait. But it did have him quite excited as he pushed the racks full of the glowing liquid to the side. Anya and her fellow students would find these most useful. It would make the accelerated program go so much more smoothly than before.

"Come,", it sounded from the other side of the door.
With one undefinable look back at the student, Severus entered the door, waiting for her to join him, before he let it shut behind. "Headmaster Ogden.", Severus started, showing one hint of a smile, which though came out rather disturbing. He had to train this to keep his real face hidden, as much as it was to his dislike. With Draco Malfoy in Hogwarts this eventually could become a problem otherwise. "I've a student here...", he continued in his usual way of speaking. "She says it is her first day at Hogwarts.. brought by her mother."
Severus threw another look at the girl behind him. He couldn't exactly deny that he didn't feel joy coming up, when he imagined her getting a little scolding as for the obvious lie. But then, most probably the headmaster was one of these warmhearted guys, maybe not even look behind this lie.

So this was Mr. Ogden, headmaster of Hogwarts. Another school – another chance. And because of his false name nobody could find out something about his record at his former school! Anyway, he didn´t want to face the headmaster in front of the other teacher. But first he had to be kind to Mr. Ogden.
Sirius showed a radiant smile and bowed to the headmaster. „I´m glad to meet you, Mr. Ogden. My name is Emily Hill – J.J. Hill, the american Quidditch-player was my father. After his... death...“ (Although he had to deal with this circumstance for some time, it still hurt.) „...my mother and me moved to London to start a recommencement. I woke up too late today and had to arrive school by an alternate way... I´m sorry.“ Many words – hopefully they served the purpose. And to be honest: Not a single word was a lie! He didn´t say I´m the daughter of J.J. Hill or my mother brought me here. But right now he had to get rid of that smellfungus. So he turned to him, a polite smile on his lips, and said: „Thank you for bringing me here. But I don´t wanna waste more of your surely valuable time, Mr. ...? Oh, what did you say what´s your name?“ Of course, he didn´t mention his name, but perhaps Sirius could get to know it now. And to up the ante he showed an innocent look to him.
His Raven, Corvus, sat on his shoulder, starring askance at both oft he men.

With another eye-rolling behind dark glasses Severus listened to the student's elaboration of a life story, impatiently waiting for a pause to abscond. And then finally he saw his chance to leave, even before the headmaster could have raised a word himself.
„Thank you for bringing me here. But I don´t wanna waste more of your surely valuable time, Mr. ...? Oh, what did you say what´s your name?“, the girl spoke up to him at last.
Severus showed another of his self-taught smiles of disgust. "Professor Boyle. And I hope you won't be late for your potion class." Oh, he hoped she would be late for it. There was something about the girl, that he just couldn't stand somehow. The smile vanished, as he turned to Headmaster Ogden again. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I've to get prepared for my class." With these words he opened the door and walked outside.
For now he really had to get prepared for it.

Headmaster Ogden did not have a chance to greet his guests before they were off the the races so to speak. Miss Hill had her story at the ready. And Boyle did seem to be getting some slight enjoyment out of the child's tension. It was strange he never thought Benjamin was that kind of a cynic but people do change. The older man simply shrugged as the teacher excused himself, they would have to talk later. "I wouldn't put too much worry into anything, no doubt you gave the members of the ministry an interesting morning having to cover up you and your mothers ride to the castle. They must be used to the occasional indiscretion by now."
He extended his hand and one of the chairs across from his desk pushed itself back to be more accommodating. "Please have a seat, we will have you to your classes without any undo delay. But I understand you are joining us from Ilvermorny. It is a shame you could not join us for yesterdays sorting ceremony but we are able to be more flexible in this day and age to incorporate new students such as yourself as the needs arise."
He paced himself for a moment so as not to overwhelm the young girl. Smiling briefly as she gathered her thoughts he hoped, Ogden then pressed on. "Before we get started did you have any questions for me that had not been answered in the letters you received from us?"

OH NO! This guy would be his potion-teacher! Why the hell?! Professor Boyle – I´m sure we´ll have some trouble together in future, Sirius said sardonic to himself in mind. He gazed at Mr.Boyle with wide open eyes. Not the best start...
"I wouldn't put too much worry into anything,...“ At least Mr.Ogden, the headmaster, seemed to be very kind.
„...no doubt you gave the members of the ministry an interesting morning having to cover up you and your mothers ride to the castle. They must be used to the occasional indiscretion by now." Indiscretion?! Jesus! Did he know the truth? - That he used his broom! He weighed up the pros and cons if he should go on lying or telling the truth.
But before he came to a result Mr.Ogden offered him a chair. "Please have a seat, we will have you to your classes without any undo delay. But I understand you are joining us from Ilvermorny. It is a shame you could not join us for yesterdays sorting ceremony but we are able to be more flexible in this day and age to incorporate new students such as yourself as the needs arise." Sirius decided to pretermit the topic about his arrival and just sat down. He responded the headmasters briefly smile. And he was thankful for the short moment to gather his thoughts.
"Before we get started did you have any questions for me that had not been answered in the letters you received from us?" „Yes, an important question, Mr.Ogden. We didn´t have a too strict dress-code at Ilvermorny, so girls were allowed to wear slacks like boys. So,... – may I?“ He also wore trousers now. It would be more comfortable to ride his broom in pants than in a skirt.
And there was another thing: He wondered to which one oft he four houses in Hogwarts he would be sent. At his former school there were four houses, too. He belonged to Thunderbird, which was called to be the house of adventurers. But Sirius intended to be calm and careful at his new school – therefore no adventurer. He had to keep his secret to be save from potential enemys arround Hogwarts.
