Nearly two months have passed.
Yesterday, October 30th, the delegates from the other schools had arrived for the Triwizard Tournament and a celebration feast was held in the Great Hall where the Goblet of Fire and Triwizard Cup were presented.
Today, October 31st, 2017, the Goblet of Fire remains available in the Chamber of Reception for interested participants to drop in a parchment with their name until the Hallowe'en Feast tonight.

*** Morgana and Professor Boyle enter from Entrance Hall ***
"Sir, you really didn't have to trouble yourself and come all this way with me," Morgana leaned on Professor Boyle's supporting arm as he accompanied her into the Infirmary. Her gut still felt a bit topsy turvy, however the wooziness in Morgana's head seemed to have slightly lifted. She wasn't one to rely on others for help, even in dire need. Though she knew that she had to accept the help when it was given, no matter how stubborn she could be. A nurse rushed their way, helping Boyle get Morgana to the nearest bed. She sat upright while the nurse performed a quick examination. "Have you anything to eat or drink today, my dear?" Morgana pressed a hand to her stomach as it squeezed with minor pain, "Not much, just breakfast this morning and then tea in the common room. I could barely stomach anything for lunch." "Hmm, I see." The nurse turned to Boyle, "The girl's either got an infection or some sort of poisoning from whatever she ate or drank today. Though, she seems to be making a slow recovery so there will be no need to transfer her to St. Mungos," The nurse turned to Morgana, "But it'd be best for you to park yourself on this bed for a couple hours so that we can monitor your symptoms." Morgana sighed with slight frustration with her bed ridden sentence as she laid back on the bed, "Well, there goes my studies for the afternoon."

"Sir, you really didn't have to trouble yourself and come all this way with me,"
Severus ignored her words and instead silently opened the doors leading into the Infirmary, which was not so easy with one arm supporting the student at the same time. Luckily it didn't take long until one of the nurses rushed their way to help him out. He sent a slight nod of gratitude towards her, though refrained from giving voice to it.
It was only when the girl had been delivered to the bed that Severus realized the fading of his eyesight. This little incident had him left careless again. He made sure the girl was answering the nurse's question before he would dare to unobtrusively turn around and take a sip of his Boyle shake. And yet again did he have to check himself to not gag. With an expression that looked half under control, Severus turned his attention back at the nurse; just in the right moment, as it seemed.
"The girl's either got an infection or some sort of poisoning from whatever she ate or drank today. Though, she seems to be making a slow recovery so there will be no need to transfer her to St. Mungos,"
By this time Severus had learned to completely hide the slow recovering of his eyesight, or rather that there was happening any change behind his glasses at all, while facing someone, yet he was relieved when the nurse turned to Morgana again instead.
"But it'd be best for you to park yourself on this bed for a couple hours so that we can monitor your symptoms."
The girl was in good hands now and he had plenty of things to do before the crowd of students would refill the whole building complex. Just why was everytime something keeping him from launching a single trip through the corridors? He must be jinxed...
"Well, there goes my studies for the afternoon."
Severus gave her one last look over his shoulder before he would leave with no more than a short "Get well soon, Miss Parkinson."
***Severus exits***

***Anya and Draco enter from Hogwarts - Whomping Willow***
Everything had turned into a foggy haze after the blazing branches started slamming down near her again and again. Her worst fear triggered, her mind had withdrawn and the most horrible day of her life had begun to replay.
She'd managed to get out of the grasp of the flames by escaping the burning house, running a safe distance before collapsing and watching, waiting for her parents to emerge, finally shrinking into a ball and burying her face into her knees when several moments passed with no other signs of movements emerging from the house. This time, however, she felt herself stuck too close to the flames still, a cold boulder at her back.
Someone had taken her in his arms and she tried to tell him of her parents, still inside, still in peril. Once again, the person holding her murmured words of comfort and once again, she drew comfort from the tone, unable to process the words being spoken. This time, however, the person holding her felt less bulky, the material against her cheek more soft and comfortable than the rough material of a fire resistant coat, and the voice this time, was familiar.
She faded in and out, at some point feeling herself lifted, a few fleeting moments of forward momentum as if floating but putting together the feeling of strong arms keeping her steadily moving forward. She was being carried.
Next would be the commotion of others in a bad way and staff rushing and shouting orders from all around as she was carried through the emergency doors of hospital. But this time, she found herself suddenly placed down on a soft bed with none of those sounds of chaos having stirred her on the journey to her infirmary bed or even now. Everything was peaceful. Her displaced senses had her eyes slitting open to take in a blurry view of a very large, very quiet infirmary.
Next, the person placing her would leave the room and Anya would find herself alone for what felt like hours, uncertain of the fate of her parents, uncertain of her own fate. Alone with the blur of people passing her by, dealing with far more critical injuries than a little girl who'd easily survive the burns on the palms of her hands. No family to stay by her side or shout demands at the rushing staff to see to her.
Alone. That had become her natural state since that day, the orphanage staff and every foster parent never having taken on the role of a true parent. She couldn't bare the thought of going through reliving the trauma of that day alone again. Catching sight of the blurred figure of the person who'd place her down, Anya reached out, her hand finding his arm. "Please don't leave me," she pleaded before drifting off again. Just a few more minutes of dozing. That's what she needed. Whatever had happened to her had been draining.

"Help! She needs medical attention!" Draco burst explosively through the Infirmary doors with Anya laying in his arms, fading in and out of the world. His panic stricken gaze scanned the room and to his relief he immediately spotted a few nurses coming straight to their aide that had heard his plea.
"Is-is this a student?!" One of the nurses asked as they helped Draco bring Anya to a nearby hospital bed.
"Yes," Draco nodded, trying to keep calm but couldn't help but to feel a bit flustered with concern, " Her name is Anastasia Novak. I rescued her from the clutches of the Whomping Willow, the damage the tree itself has done to her I am unsure of." Draco gave her name and told the story. Taking the credit, he decided to leave Boyle out of the matter, until he found out who or what he really was. Draco gave the nurses some space as they attended to Anya wounds. The girl seemed to be in very capable hands, and Draco felt as if his services were no long required. He began to turn away to make his exit, until he felt a hand grasp onto his arm.
"Please don't leave me,"
Staring down at Anya, Draco's jaw dropped slightly as he was at a loss for words. It was clear that she was still rather out of sorts, because he doubted that he was the person that she wanted by her side. If anything, it should be Callum. He wasn't about to tell the poor girl no, but he contemplated on leaving to find Callum. Though those thoughts lasted only for a moment before one of the nurses came around with a corked vile in hand.
"You're staying? Oh bless your heart Mr. Malfoy!" The nurse exclaimed in relief before slipping the vile into Draco's free hand, "When she awakens, make sure she takes this restorative potion whole. It will help ease her physical pain, as well as mental. Whatever this girl's been through out there, it's surely taken a toll."
Draco nodded at the nurse who departed, leaving Draco alone with Anya. Anya's hand still latched onto his arm and with the vile in hand, he came to terms that he was in this situation for the long haul. If Callum found out then he would just have to put on his big boy pants and live with it. Sinking into the chair that was parked behind him, Draco placed the corked vile on the side table so that he could move Anya's grasp from his arm and placed her hand securely into his, "I won't go anywhere," Draco spoke softly to the sleeping girl, "I'll be right here when you wake up." As a father, it was hard for him to say no. Even when his own children came down with colds and flus and wanted him to read one more story or wanted him to stay until the medicine kicked in and they were fast asleep. Draco swore to be the father figure his children needed. One his own father wasn't.

Ash had seen the whole thing. The clash of adults in the corridor, the rescue of the poor girl from the Whomping Willow - it surely was quite the entertaining event. If Ash hadn't been lurking after Boyle had left him in the classroom, he surely would have missed the excitement. However, he simply was not peering through the Infirmary entrance because he had been concerned about Anya's well being. The story was more about the strange glowing sensation that had emulated from her hand. Ash had been baffled of how any of the adults hadn't noticed. Draco had been wrapped up in grabbing the girl and escaping the angry tree, so that was understandable. Ash wondered if Boyle had noticed at all. Surely, the knowledge of power Boyle wields is far greater than any ordinary professor. In the meantime, Ash's gaze was fixated on the scar in the middle of Anya's hand, the very one he had noticed near the beginning of the school year.

Anya had been drifting in and out but after having been settled into a safe haven with chaos no longer surrounding her, the events of earlier had started to replay in a dream. Her brows drew together, her hand reflexively gripping on the hand holding hers in the real world, as the part that still had guilt eating at her approached. The winds were picking up. Callum was trying to come toward her again when she only wanted him to get far away from her as she felt the danger in the situation increasing. Scorpius erratically waved his wand in her direction, increasing the danger she felt for herself.
In her dream, she closed her eyes again and lifted her hands, repeating her same plead. 'Stop it! Stop it!....'
Anya couldn't stand the thought of reliving that moment of opening her eyes and seeing the two Malfoy boys laid out in the snow because of her. She didn't want to hurt anybody, not even Scorpius, that nasty little instigator. Forcing herself away from the scene, Anya jerked herself awake, the final plea working its way out in reality in a quiet "Stop--" as she shot to a sitting position, the windows behind her giving a loud rattle with a short-lived sharp gust of wind that had hit them.
Quickly looking toward her side to see what kept her right hand captive, she saw Draco and in his momentary distraction of looking toward the windows, Anya quickly buried her left palm down into the bed as the glow finished fading. She glanced around the room, hiding a slight panic that someone may have seen it, but mentally gave a sigh of relief to find that they were the only two in the large room. Panic subsided, she took in the room once again but this time, with growing confusion.
Trauma was making her memory sketchy. Coming off the dream, the events at Hogsmeade were fresh in her mind and the last thing she could currently clearly remember. She'd seen this room, but only once when first shown around. "Is this--" She pieced together where she was so the question died on her lips. Thoughts of Hogsmeade struck her with guilt again and she remembered fleeing in an attempt to draw the danger she was causing away from the crowd. Anya's head jerked back to Mr. Malfoy, her brows furrowed with worry. Since she was back, her natural assumption was that everyone was back and that those who'd not been there had been informed of what had occurred. "Is everyone okay? Callum? Scorpius?" They'd been nearest to her and the ones she worried about most.

*** Severus enters from Hogwarts - Whomping Willow ***
One who preferred to lurk instead of actively attend would always find a corner to hide behind in the shadows. But what if that corner was already taken? Severus was not too surprised about that fact, though, once he recognized the student from their little meeting in one of the classrooms earlier that day. Something about this boy hadn't felt right, and that from the start. In some way, even... familiar. Well, Severus couldn't think of a time nor a place where they might have seen each other before. He had been out of the public eye, let alone of students, for such a long time that it was unlikely they had met anywhere outside of Hogwarts.
For a while, Severus observed at a safe distance until his curiosity got the better of him. Or maybe it was just this cruel side of him finding pleasure in catching somebody in the act that drove him to show himself, after all.
"Loitering with intent as we shirk social interactions?" Severus spoke up in a whispered tone once he was standing right behind the boy. No one was as good as him at sneaking up to somebody, yet this one didn't seem to be surprised. Or maybe he was, but too proud to show a reaction of that sort; A mannerism Severus knew all too well. Also, his question might, unintentionally, have gone for both of them, while, in the case of the student, with social interactions was meant the trip to Hogsmeade from which everyone else was still not back.
Severus' eyes were slowly wandering from the student up to the narrow crack of the doors leading into the infirmary. He had no intention to get caught in the act himself, so it was wise to have an eye on both. Although, with this new situation, he could as well use it as a shield. Picking up slackers in the corridors, up to some mischief, was no new task for him, same as surely something the staff around Hogwarts might have heard about by now. Well, Boyle or not, Severus couldn't help but fall back into old patterns at times.

"Is this--"
Anya had rustled awake quicker than Draco could register. His mouth twitched upwards in a relieving grin at the sight of Anya fully conscious once more. However, his grin was quick to disappear at her startled reaction of her whereabouts. He didn't blame her, figuring he would also be frightened to suddenly wake up in the Infirmary with no context in between now and before. He took a few steps inward towards the hospital bed as he was going to soothe her with words of comfort before she suddenly started spurting inquiries.
"Is everyone okay? Callum? Scorpius?"
Draco's eyebrows furrowed as he grew incredibly confused by her concerns. It made sense for her to have seen Callum along her way, the two kids growing rather close. But Scorpius? There's no way he could have been with them, as First Year students did not get the opportunity to travel to Hogsmeade. Unless...no, Draco shook his head internally as he ruled out that Scorpius couldn't possibly be that impulsive. Anya must have been dreaming while unconscious, and the stress Scorpius had been putting her and Callum through must be getting to her head.
"My dear, you are the only one out of those you've mentioned here in the Infirmary. What has happened to you?" Draco sat down in a chair nearest to Anya's bedside as he shed concern over the events that lead up to her being sentenced to the torment of the Whomping Willow.

"Loitering with intent as we shirk social interactions?"
Closing his eyes, Ash paused momentarily as a sly smile crept along his face. He just knew that him and Boyle would happen to run into each other if he left the classroom and began to travel through the castle. Though, Ash kind of hoped he would run into the man again. He wanted to get close to him, figure out his scent. His motives, and his true identity. Intuition told Ash that this man was not who he said he was. Intrigued by the fact that they were two imposters in the same facility made Ash wonder if this man was here for the same reason as he was, or if there was something greater that lay in this castle that this man was after, waiting to be discovered. Ash knew that if he couldn't get to the bottom of this mystery, no one else really stood a chance.
"It seems as if we have something in common...Boyle...," Ash reveled in a mysterious tone before slowly turning his head to face the professor, "And what might be your intent in this present loiter, Professor Boyle?" Ash pressed the man, knowing he would hit a trigger at some point that might allow him to come closer to knowing who this man truly was.

"My dear, you are the only one out of those you've mentioned here in the Infirmary. What has happened to you?"
Anya looked away, her brows furrowing as she gathered her scattered thoughts and memories. Finally finding her mental footing, she glanced back to Mr. Malfoy. "There was... an incident at Hogsmeade." Anya struggled with how much to tell him. Marius had warned her to not speak of the oddity of her situation, but she was once again made very aware of the fact that he was not here. Marius had had to leave but hadn't told her why or for how long, which had left her alone in a world she knew hardly anything about, dealing with a situation that he warned her would not be accepted in this world, perhaps even lead her to trouble with people he referred to as 'The Ministry'. She hardly understood what that all meant but his expression and his tone warned her that she did not want to have to land in a situation where she would be finding out.
She kept her eyes downcast, struggling with how to explain her way out of something without really telling him anything. It just wasn't possible. Anya didn't know how much he might have already figured. Her terror filled memory of what had happened near the Whomping Willow after the fire had started was hazy at best. All she could do was to give away as little about her situation as she could and allow the questions he put to her to guide her to figuring out what he already sussed out on his own.
"I, um... I became distressed," she began, not mentioning that Scorpius was the cause of her distress as feeling guilty for having winded him and Callum when she'd knocked them off their feet far outweighed any guilt she felt should go toward Scorpius, especially when speaking to the boy's father. "The weather turned, then this intense gust of wind knocked Callum and Scorpius to the ground. They--They're okay," she quickly interjected, glancing up at him with extra reassurance before casting her eyes downward again. She tucked her hair behind her ear, a nervous habit, and immediately regretted how the effect of it was like tying back a curtain that had mostly obstructed her expressions, clearing the window that gave a view to what was happening inside. "I--I ran away. To the shack. And I found myself back here again."
Anya left out the parts where her distress and weather turning were connected, the gust of wind that knocked down his two boys seemingly having been thrown by her, that she ran to take the storm away from the hub of people, how she'd managed to get passed the magical barriers that locked up the shack, or the fire and continued weather events that had transpired at the Whomping Willow. It wasn't lying, exactly. It was withholding information, but it made her feel just as guilty and she kept her eyes staring at a wrinkle in the sheets over her legs while she waited for his response, nervously twisting her fingers in her lap and wishing hard that Marius would suddenly come walking through the infirmary door.

"It seems as if we have something in common...Boyle...,""And what might be your intent in this present loiter, Professor Boyle?"
A quiet snorting sound left Severus' nostrils at that question. How dare this student talk to him like that? He was still performing as a teacher, and even if that wouldn't be the case, people talking to him like that, all puffed up and arrogant as if they knew it all, had always been his weak point, or rather the point that made him become a less affably person. Luckily, he was entitled to teach those a lesson in here.
With a look of disgust about such unrefined behavior, Severus grabbed the boy by his shoulder to pull him closer. "In case it might have slipped your brilliant mind..." He wanted to add a name to these words before suddenly realizing that there was none memorized yet. As far as Severus remembered, he had met the boy only once. And while he seemed insolent and articulate back then and also now, the student must act almost as if invisible during class. Potions belonged to one of the subjects students weren't able to drop, at least not without his approval. And giving approval to this student, he would remember.
After a short pause, Severus went on, even quieter than before. "... I'm authorized to act for the headmaster while he isn't around... which includes to... keep the floors clean from students who seem to have become... lost." His eyes started scanning over the boy's features as if to read the misdeed off of them before he added with an almost malicious although barely noticeable smile: "Same as sending out reminding letters to parents who should have a conversation with their children about manners."

Draco tried to take in all of the details that Anya was trying her very best to relay to him. He watched as she painfully darted through nervousness, diverting her eye contact. She appeared as if she did not want to go into detail in regards to what it was she had become distressed about, and Draco felt it would be an inappropriate time to question her any further. He would speak to his boys and would surely get some answers. "The most important thing now is that you're safe, Anya. And you should try to get some rest. You've been through a lot," Draco tried his best to comfort the girl still shaking from the peril she had been in, "Is there anything you need? Anything I can do to help you?" Draco asked gently.

"In case it might have slipped your brilliant mind..." "... I'm authorized to act for the headmaster while he isn't around... which includes to... keep the floors clean from students who seem to have become... lost."
Ash's ears couldn't help but to perk up slightly at Boyle's interesting use of words to describe his mind. Whether it was a habit slip or if it was just mere sarcasm, it had been a very long time since Ash's ego had been stroked. Not since back in the former life of being 'master' of pupils, and one in particular would have uttered such a phrase in a similar tone as Boyle had just done...Boyle talked, yet the words went in and out of Ash's ears as he continued studied the wizard. Trying to place a name to the familiar presence.
"Same as sending out reminding letters to parents who should have a conversation with their children about manners."
Suddenly, Ash was brought back to the present conversation by Boyle's latest sentence. His eyebrows morphed into confusion and he couldn't help but to let out a hearty chuckle, as if a joke had just been told between the two. "Good luck trying to reach mine, they've been dead for much longer than you'll ever know. A possible explanation to my 'poor manners'." Ash found nothing but amusement in his encounters with Boyle. This wizard didn't even know the half of what he truly was, let alone what he was capable of.

"The most important thing now is that you're safe, Anya. And you should try to get some rest. You've been through a lot," "Is there anything you need? Anything I can do to help you?"
Anya held her breath as this dreaded line of questions set forth by a concerned adult usually included insisting upon or inquiring about contacting the person's parents. That was always awkward and uncomfortable for both parties where she was concerned. Thankfully, he hadn't brought it up. At least not yet. Hopefully he was too preoccupied in thinking about his own sons, perfectly understandable, considering the danger she'd inadvertently drawn them into.
But if Anya showed any hesitation that she was not perfectly fine, it might lead down that road. The question would bloody well come up once the others were back regaling those who weren't there with what had happened. But she had hours before that would happen. Or so she thought. She had no idea that they were being sent back early, or that the dreaded Ministry Marius has warned her to keep under the radar of had been drawn to this mess.
Anya was not looking forward to the others arriving back in what she assumed would be a few hours still. She unknowingly threaded her fingers, twisting nervously but put a reassuring smile on her face. "I should be fine after I get a little... rest..." she finished distractedly, her attention drawn toward the door. She thought she'd heard something. Very faint. Whispering, maybe? Her eyes went back to Mr. Malfoy, silently questioning if he heard it, too, and now she did let concern show because it wasn't over what had happened. Probably underage students snooping and not minding their own business.

Severus' features took on an almost disgusted look when the boy in front of him went on turning him into ridicule, or, at least, tried so. But not with him. Never again. Severus watched him in silence as the student chuckled at him, right into his face.
"Good luck trying to reach mine, they've been dead for much longer than you'll ever know. A possible explanation to my 'poor manners'."
Honestly, he couldn't be more uninterested in the students' family stories, especially nowadays, yet there was something about this one that felt not quite right; Especially with this arrogant, almost secretive undertone in the student's voice while he was telling it. Anyways, Severus wasn't going to give in to his way of stultifying this whole situation. At the end of the day, he was still the one in a key position while also enjoying that a little too much maybe. "Well, but I..."
Severus was just going to explain another advantage of his temporary authorization to the boy when, suddenly, the door next to them opened up some more.

"I should be fine after I get a little... rest..."
Draco noticed a slight shift in Anya as she suddenly grew distracted by the entrance way. She had been through a lot, Draco figured that the poor girl's mind must be all over the place. Turning his head, Draco pointed his sight in the same direction as hers to figure out what had suddenly pulled Anya away from their conversation. And then he saw it - a familiar, beady complexion poking through the door no more than a smidge. Boyle..., Draco shook his head, wondering what on earth had suddenly possessed this man. First he left wordlessly without a single trace, and now he is secretly peeking through the door? Draco inwardly huffed, they had just saved this student's life. If Boyle had been so concerned with her well being, the least he could do was put his differences with Draco aside and find out for himself.
"I'll be back to check on you in a couple of hours. Try to get some sleep if you can," Draco turned back to look softly upon Anya, his hand gently patted the side of her bed. Shedding a grin, Draco gave Anya a farewell nod before turning his back on her to leave her be. Approaching the door, he began to open it as he felt the body of the man who was prying was still behind it - yet Draco did not know that he was also with another.
"Didn't your mother tell you that it's rude to pry, Boyle? If you really wanted to know the status of the girl's well being, you could have just came inside. And what in merlin's beard was that back there-," Down right annoyed with Boyle, Draco had been mid interrogation before stopping himself, realizing too late that Boyle was with a student, "Oh. I didn't realize you were in the middle of something," Draco cleared his throat as he greeted the student, "Good day...," Suddenly overcome with embarrassment, Draco looked forward without addressing Boyle again, "We will resume this conversation at a later time. Excuse me," It didn't take Draco long to pick up his feet and zip right out of Boyle's presence. The man had become the bane of Draco's existence.

Ash's sly grin was unmoved by the sudden entrance of the blonde headed bloke that had stumbled right into the middle of their conversation. His cold eyes slid upwards as the man greeted him, and Ash returned the acknowledgement with a single nod in his direction, "A good day it is indeed, Sir," Ash chimed in almost a sarcastic tone before landing his taunting gaze back onto Professor Boyle. It wasn't long before the intruding man was on his way, leaving Ash and Boyle alone for a moment more. "Poor thing," Ash tisked with pity, looking through the door at Anya laying in the bed, "The Whomping Willow is no match for most, but only a few. It's a good thing you were there to save the day." Ash winked at Boyle, studying his complexion to see if anything would give an indication as to who this man was. Whoever this professor was, he knew spells that many did not. And Ash only had ever come across a few wizards in his lifetime that were this special. Without worrying that Boyle would stop him in anyway, Ash turned his back on the professor and left him standing with his own thoughts at the infirmary door.

"I'll be back to check on you in a couple of hours. Try to get some sleep if you can,"
A smile touched Anya's lips, a hint emotional. It had been a long time since an adult figure had given a fig about her and already in this place, there seemed to now be two. Starved for that kind of parental figure in her life, she'd really latched on to Marius when he'd swept her away from her horrible life to this place, showing genuine care over her wellbeing. That had made his sudden departure with no clue as to when he'd return really difficult on her. She'd felt like a lost and alone child again, trying to begin the hard task of building up her toughness again.
Anya could hear harsh whispers coming from Mr. Malfoy once he'd reached the door but couldn't make out what he was saying or who he was speaking to just out of her view. Momentarily on her own, Anya stared ahead at the other empty beds and became lost in thought.
Things had become a little easier when she'd finally gotten old enough to talk someone into giving her an honest job. She'd loved that bookstore and was sad to have left without word and worse, the slight damage of the fire. Just the thought of the fire had Anya crossing her arms and hugging herself with her phobia of it. She was thankful Marius had shown up to magically put it out before the whole place could go up in flames.
No matter how tough she built herself up, it never filled the incredible void of feeling alone and helpless in the world. Earning her own keep had finally given her some hope and confidence for her future, small though it was with having to keep her hours small due to school and the demands of the foster parents and their own idea of "earning their keep". It had definitely helped her to no longer feel completely helpless and dependent. But she no longer had a job. As nice as this place was, she was kind of stranded in it and dependent on someone who was not around, away from any nearby towns where she could find a job and feel as if she could be dependent on only herself.
The opening of the infirmary door pulled Anya from her thoughts. She glanced over to see Professor Boyle. The events outside were hazy, but she thought she had a vague memory of him having been there. Unsure of what he might have witnessed, Anya put on calm smile, slowly uncrossing her arms to place her hands palm down on the bed again under the guise of scooting herself into more of an upright position. After adjusting her position, her left hand with the burn runes edged more toward being tucked into her side as much as she could manage with the sheet being in the way of completely tucking her hand under her leg.
She really regretted hastily tearing off her gloves and letting them fall to the ground in her haste to use her gift of getting into places on the magically locked shack door. Unsure of what Professor Boyle may or may not have seen, Anya thought it wise to remain quiet and allow him to open the dialogue.

Severus' head moved over with an annoyed expression on his face when another, very familiar voice interrupted them, yet when Draco realized that his accusations were misplaced - at least it seemed so -, that expression on Severus' features changed into a mischievous smirk. The two of them had reached a point where they wouldn't even hide their little venoms towards each other.
Severus still said nothing when Draco then rather quickly bid them goodbye.
"Poor thing,""The Whomping Willow is no match for most, but only a few. It's a good thing you were there to save the day."
He slowly turned his gaze back towards the student, still annoyed by his audacious manners. Severus would keep his eyes glued to him, but, for now, he had other business to take care of; Namely, his reason for being here in the first place. He let the boy walk past without holding him back any longer, not without giving him a look as if to silently send a warning that they weren't finished yet, though. Then Severus turned his attention away from him and instead to the door leading into the infirmary.
He opened the door up some more, hoping to find the girl sleeping but, instead, she sat up in her bed, looking right at him, an expectant look upon her face. "You're awake," Severus said with a calm voice, a little hesitant to start an actual dialogue, but now he was here anyway.

Anya nodded, taking a moment to think over what she said as she always did with someone she not only barely knew, but was unsure she could put her trust into. Most of the people she'd been surrounded by after losing her parents had done well in destroying the blind, innocent trust most of her peers felt toward adults.
"I'm exhausted, but I couldn't manage nodding off quite yet," she finally admitted. "All that adrenaline hasn't fully worn off." That was only part of the reason. Most likely, all the dread-filled worries circling her mind would keep her awake until the wee hours... that is, if the dreaded Ministry didn't take her away and keep her up til the wee hours asking her questions she wasn't sure she could even answer.
Where in the bloody hell was Marius anyway? Hopefully word would get to him, wherever he was, and he would hurry back. No Marius and she was quite sure Callum, and anyone else she'd just started the fragile beginnings of friendship with, wouldn't want anything to do with her. And once his sons returned from Hogsmeade and regaled him with what had happened, she was quite sure Mr. Malfoy would also turn his back on her. She couldn't blame him. She couldn't blame any of them. Even she was a little afraid of herself, if she were being honest.
That overwhelming feeling of being so lost and alone was creeping in again, tightening her throat. Anya cleared it, managed a small smile, and attempted to innocently fish for information on why Mr. Boyle was here and what he might or might not have seen. "Is something the matter?" she asked with the proper amount of concern anyone innocent of wrongdoing would show toward an unexpected visit from a professor.

"I'm exhausted, but I couldn't manage nodding off quite yet,""All that adrenaline hasn't fully worn off."
Severus had always felt uncomfortable having conversations like this; Those that were beyond tutoring or lecturing. Being nice was not exactly his strength, but he couldn't just step to her side, grabbing her hand to check if he'd seen right. So, instead, he tried a smile for once, a little bit awkward looking, though.
"Is something the matter?" the girl suddenly asked.
"No," Severus quickly replied, lowering his smile into just a neutral face, much more natural for him. He stepped a little closer. "I was just.. worried. That you might have ended up.. wounded. Or.. feeling.. modified in any way." It might be odd to use such a description when talking about the potential repercussion of a tornado or even an attack from the whomping willow, but maybe there could be seen some kind of hint in her eyes that told him she got the reference.

Anya made the assumption he was referencing what may have appeared to be an overdramatized reaction out by the Whomping Willow. "No, nothing that wasn't preexisting," she reassured. "I, um..." she glanced down, feeling embarrassed. "I may have overreacted." Feeling self-conscious, she forgot about hiding her hands and started fiddling with the hem of the blanket folded over the comforter. "I'm afraid of fire."
She finally pulled her eyes back up to him. He was so intense and intimidating in his silence even though she couldn't tell what he was thinking. In the way he silently studied her, she assumed her answer wasn't satisfactory. Self-conscious about her fear, she'd downplayed it and even she felt it didn't fully explain the extent of her nearly catatonic reaction. "Terrified of it, actually."
Admitting that out loud, especially to someone she did not know well, made her squirm uncomfortably. Momentarily glancing down once again, Anya self-consciously reached up to tuck her hair behind her ear and when she braved a look back up at him, she saw that his eyes had shifted from her face to her left hand as it brushed past her face. Anya could feel herself pale slightly. Eyes downcast, she slowly closed her fist and lowered it back to the bed. "Just old scars, nothing new," she reassured once again, hoping that his interest was merely in having noticed the scars and not anything they might have done out there that she couldn't recall in the terrified haze she'd been in.

While the girl was explaining away wounds she may have received, although Severus was only interested in what he had seen in her palm, he remained quiet, looking as if he was, first, listening with relief, and then, to her remark about fire, with empathy. In truth, he just hoped to be able to catch another glimpse of her hand. It didn't help that this conversation about fears made him feel slightly uncomfortable. Severus simply wasn't one who was good at giving comfort in a way like this; In a talking way. But then there came the moment. As the girl went on fiddling with the blanket, she revealed that glimpse. So, after all, Severus hadn't been wrong about what he saw.
"Just old scars, nothing new,"
He couldn't help but utter a quiet "Interesting" while his eyes were still aimed at the so-called scar. Severus hadn't seen much, but enough to tell that this scar was not just coming from a cut or something. It was something occult. Eventually, his eyes became clear again, looking back into her face. "I hope you don't mind the question," he started slowly and calmly, yet curious, "But... where did you get that?" Severus really wasn't good at conversing this way, so he hoped that his question didn't seem too nosy. At least, he tried a friendly face for once.
