Claire Littleton Reason for Flight: Travelling to L.A. to meet a couple who Richard Malkin (psychic) told her were the only other couple that could raise her baby besides herself. Is now convinced the psychic knew the plane would crash, leaving her to raise her baby as he said had to be done. |

We now know Claire's reason for being on the flight! Richard Malkin, the psychic that she'd gone to see, had convinced her that there was a couple in L.A. that wanted to adopt her baby and would be the only other safe choice to raise the baby. After four months of him trying to convince her that "danger surrounds this baby" and that nobody but Claire could raise the baby because "your nature, your spirit, your goodness, must be an influence in the development of this child" had failed, Claire and Charlie are convinced that Richard Malkin knew the plane was going to crash. He was adamant that it she had to be on Oceanic Flight 815 leaving that next day.
