***Rose enters from Robin Hood and his Merry Men's Camp***
***5 Years BDC***
Captain Hook and his crew were well known so it had not taken overly long to track down their whereabouts. Convincing Will to let her enter the tavern on her own, however, had been far more challenging a task. She'd talked him into it, stating that the two of them didn't have a chance against a tavern full of pirates and ruffians. It was better he watch from afar so he'd be able to get help, should the occasion call for it. Why it had to be her as the one to go rather than him had been another debate. It simply came down to the fact that it was her picture on those wanted posters and this was her quest. She did not wish to involve him further.
Will grudgingly obliged. She'd handed him the note she'd written to Red on the back of one of her Wanted posters that would explain everything and instructed Will to only give it to Red if something happened to cause Will to be accused over Rose being missing... or worse. She was sure to take full responsibility for her actions.
Rose pushed her blonde locks behind her shoulders and pulled her hood well over her eyes. They had pulled down a few more Wanted posters in the forest on their journey here so she was careful to keep her head down and avoid eye contact with anyone but the one she sought. Who knows how many had wandered past them or had seen them elsewhere?
A highly inebriated man came stumbling out of the tavern, bumping her as he passed but paid her no attention. She crinkled her nose at his smell but as she opened the tavern door, she realized that was only a hint of what assaulted her senses from within the tavern.
The place was busy. The newcomer had garnered a few curious stares but seeing as it was a seedy place full of seedy people, someone hiding under a cloak was nothing out of the ordinary. She peaked a glance here and there as she continued to move slowly through the crowd. The glint of candlelight off his hook caught her attention and she moved toward his table at the back of the tavern.
The man sitting next to him vacated his seat and she took his place. Keeping her head down, she said, "Does your offer to see the open sea still stand?"

Killian was in a very good mood. He was enjoying the high from a few good tankards of ale having won a tidy sum gambling with the locals. They had been hoping to get a good payday off those wanted posters they had found all over the territory but it just hadn't worked out. The pirates took it out hustling the folk who then moved on. Once they realized who they had been dealing with it was too late. Nobody was going to do anything to them. Best to just go home. Hook brought enough of his crew to see to that. Yes, it turned out to be a good day. He had even made sure they had acquired a few crates of fresh apples. It was that or the mans orchard. Which of course they had no use for land but the farmer didn't need to know that.
Smee excused himself to head over to the bar. It wasn't long before he returned and plopped down next to the captain. "Does your offer to see the open sea still stand?" Well that wasn't the voice he was used too. "Why Smee, your voice has certainly become much more pleasing. Have I really had that much?" He chuckled and dug a grove into the wood of the tabletop, all the way to the stranger in the hood. "That depends my dear, who may I ask is inquiring?" The hook shot up with surprising speed for a drunk man and caught the lip of the hood. With a swift motion it pulled the fabric back just enough for Jones to see who he was talking too. But just himself.

"Why Smee, your voice has certainly become much more pleasing. Have I really had that much?"
Her chuckle of amusement never made it to the surface as his hook menacingly dug into the wood as it worked its way toward her.
"That depends my dear, who may I ask is inquiring?"
In the blink of an eye, his hook went from the table to her hood. Rose jumped, turning to him in wide-eyed surprise. She relaxed and gave him a tentative smile, letting her face answer his question. She'd used his same words of offer but he hadn't known right off that it had been her. "I didn't realize you offered passage so freely." There wasn't an ounce of sarcasm or snark in her tone. She genuinely assumed she wasn't the only stranger he'd graciously offered out the opportunity to see the open sea. Rose relaxed, thinking this was going to be a far less daunting task than she'd mentally prepared herself for.

Releasing her hood, his hook settled back to the table. The captain narrowed his eyes for a moment then they resumed their normal set. "I didn't realize you offered passage so freely." He didn't, well he didn't usually 'offer' anything. But for a face like hers he had made an exception. He had seen something in her eyes that he would not soon forget. Inexperience but a certain thirst as well. "Of course, the trusting one. I do apologize for the nature of our parting when last we met. I had my crews interests at heart then. You understand."
Killian lifted his mug up to his lips and took a large swig of the soothing beverage. With a swipe from his sleeve he lowered it to the table again. "I am afraid my offers are a time sensitive commodity." Whatever had come over him before, now was not the time to be playing his hand. He merely called her and waited for the young woman to make the next move. Was she alone? Why had she sought him out after those masked vigilante's had chased him off?

"Of course, the trusting one.
He made that sound like a bad thing.
I do apologize for the nature of our parting when last we met. I had my crews interests at heart then. You understand."
"Of course," she agreed with conviction. It was the reason why she'd felt comfortable in seeking him out to take him up on his offer. He cared about his crew and as promised, had left Robin and his men unharmed. Her faith in promises may have faltered when he'd thrown that grenade but when it had turned out to be a dud, it bounced back fully intact.
"I am afraid my offers are a time sensitive commodity."
Her shoulders hunching in disappointment. "Oh." So much for the undaunting easy route. She squared her shoulders with determination and went for Plan B. "I need safe passage. In return, I can make it worth your while." She watched him expectantly, waiting to see if she'd sparked any interest.

"Oh... I need safe passage. In return, I can make it worth your while." She was going with the monetary route. "Alright dear turn out your pockets. Let's see what is going to move me to ready the Jolly Roger for the high seas." With the last word to leave his lips he swiped the table clear between them with his hook to make room for her offerings.
He seemed to sober up quickly as he stared at her expectantly. "If you can muster enough to make it worth our while I could be open to renegotiating our deal. If you can't then I could be persuaded to allow someone to back your venture. A third party perhaps?" The pirates eyes scanned the room now. "What say you lass?" He then buried a dagger into the table to see if anyone would step forward. Killian doubted she had made the trip alone and while her guide may be holding back to the shadows the hostile move may draw them out. They needn't be privy to the fact that it was all bluster. For now.

"Alright dear turn out your pockets. Let's see what is going to move me to ready the Jolly Roger for the high seas."
Rose had been ready to produce the poster along with her offer but instead, found herself distractedly studying him. He seemed so different than she was expecting. Curt and downright rude. Had she misjudged him as trustworthy? When he suddenly stared back expectantly, she readied to start but he interjected again.
"If you can muster enough to make it worth our while I could be open to renegotiating our deal. If you can't then I could be persuaded to allow someone to back your venture. A third party perhaps?"
'Third party?' she thought in confusion, following his lead by scanning the room. Rose's mind didn't run the same wavelength of the average person. She hadn't had to watch her back. She hadn't been double crossed or duped. Even the lie of the women who had raised her was based on the care of her well-being and far more innocent of a deception than most people would have faced by this point in their lives.
"What say you lass?"
There was a flash of a dagger burying into the table. Rose jumped, catching her hood as it halfway dislodged, revealing a view of her face long enough for anyone who happened to be looking their direction. Unfortunately with the act he'd just pulled, that might have been a more worrisome number of eyes than she cared to think about.
"Good heavens! There is no need for all your bluster, sir," she chastised as she righted her hood. It was almost comical, lecturing a fierce pirate as if he were a misbehaving young lad. His act followed by him scanning the room again did bring to light the meaning of his previous statement. He was checking to see if anyone jumped to her rescue. "I'm here with a friend but I insisted he wait outside. Our concern was not over you," she said, working on wiggling the dagger free, "well, at least mine wasn't. It was over the other patrons." She handed him back his dagger then retrieved the folded up poster from her pocket.
Rose slid the folded wanted poster to him. "Here is my offer. Take care that it is not seen by anyone else." She took a quick glance behind him to be sure no curious eyes were glancing over his shoulder before lifting her hand from it. She waited for him to unfold it and take in the incredibly large reward offered for the woman in the sketch. "If you provide me safe passage, I will allow you to turn me in for the reward before someone else does."
Her expression and tone were quite serious. Now it was her turn to watch him expectantly. Rose hoped he made his decision fast. Perhaps she was only being paranoid but she was starting to get the uncomfortable feeling of being watched.

"Good heavens! There is no need for all your bluster, sir,"
The captain's brow rose as he cocked an eye. Was she trying to put him in his place? He liked that. Killian went from a look of surprise to a roguish grin as he leaned across the table towards her, taking back his dagger from her outstretched hand. "So you don't want to play my little game, fine. I have another if that would please you better?"
"Here is my offer. Take care that it is not seen by anyone else." Killian paused to replace his dagger in his belt before taking the parchment from her. His expression was then serious. Glancing over each shoulder he then unrolled the document to have a look. "If you provide me safe passage, I will allow you to turn me in for the reward before someone else does."
"And here I thought you were just looking to join up for my winning personality..." When something fell into his lap it was always too good to be true. "I confess, Ms Ingenue, you and your friends were all equally tempting for obvious reasons I couldn't make up my mind at the time. But why in the name of the locker would you want to turn yourself in?" He surveyed the sheet once more before continuing, "The Forbidden Fortress? I'd have to be mad!"

When Will had expressed his concern over the Forbidden Fortress, she'd brushed it off as a general concern for her going to the unknown. But a pirate expressing the same reservation over this place gave her a moments pause. She was stubbornly determined to go nonetheless so she could get some answers.
Rose ignored his question of why. The answer was personal and if he wasn't going to take her, then it most definitely was no business of his.
"Would it not also be mad to turn down such a sum of money so easily earned?"
Her feeling of unease continued to pull at her. She noticed a man who'd been standing to her side had inched his way to a spot that faced her. He'd been hard to miss when she'd first walked in. Big, burly, and a mean look to him. He stood staring with menacing eyes over the rim of his mug of ale. Rose shifted sideways as best she could on the bench, pulling at her hood. "I don't mean to be rude, but I'd appreciate a quick decision. I believe I may have another interested party and I don't much care for the look of him."

She knew he was playing hard to get, clever girl... "Would it not also be mad to turn down such a sum of money so easily earned?" Aye she would be right but he did not answer right away. Jones did have to think a moment. On one hand who knew what the witch who was master of that castle was capable of. He had never crossed her but she was likely madder than the two of them at the table combined. Probably the whole damned tavern. As if to prove that point he considered the opposite perspective as he looked at his hook and smiled. He had lived on the edge for quite some time now. "I don't mean to be rude, but I'd appreciate a quick decision. I believe I may have another interested party and I don't much care for the look of him."
Killian's eyes perked up at the warning. "Well then, I've made up my mind." The captain stood from his seat and walked over to confront the large man glaring at them from the next table. "Don't you know its rude to stare mate?" The man probably wasn't used to such a concept as manners, or a complete lack of panic from his 'prey'. The pirate used that to his advantage. As the brute's brow furrowed, he slipped his hook through the handle of the mans mug and slashed his hand in the process causing him to gain control of the improvised weapon. In the same motion he brought the cudgel around and smashed it into the back of his opponents head. The action bought him a moment but the large fellow didn't go down. "A fighter, good. I hope you have something other than a hairbrush when the need arises." The captain shouted that reference from their last encounter over his shoulder as both more ruffian's and his crew took to their feet.

"Well then, I've made up my mind."
"Wait, what are you doing?" Rose whispered in a panic, but her words fell on empty air as the pirate was already toe to toe with the big man who'd been eyeing her.
"Don't you know its rude to stare mate?"
Rose shot to her feet. The big brute had barely budged from the blow to the head.
"A fighter, good. I hope you have something other than a hairbrush when the need arises."
Rose huffed in annoyance at that reminder. This was madness! They should have attempted to sneak out of the place. That would have been the logical plan. Instead, both men were smirking like fools at the idea of a brawl and more men jumped to their feet in what sounded like a shout of enthusiasm as they, too, began to fight one another. Well, now she understood why her aunts especially warned her about male strangers. They all appeared to be mad.
The hunting knife had been left at Robin's camp. However, she remembered the damage the frying pan had caused when she'd swung her satchel at one of the captain's men the first time she'd met the captain. Rose came around the side of the table and placed her satchel on it to retrieve the frying pan but before she had it open, someone grabbed her arm and swung her around, pinning her between him and the table. The big, burly man yanked back her hood and gave her a yellowed toothy leer. "Yer right, it's her," he called out to the man the Captain was currently fighting.
As the man had been distractedly yelling to his partner, Rose had reached behind her into the satchel and her fingers closed around the handle just as the man looked back to her. "I'm sorry," she said as she pulled it free and swung at his head.
The object did not have the desired affect as once again, it was not the object she'd intended to use.
"Ow!" he said, rubbing at his sore temple as he glared at a few laughing men who'd witnessed it. He moved his grip from her forearm to her wrist, squeezing until the pain had her drop the offending object. He leaned close and said, "Did ye just hit me with a funny lookin' spoon?"
Rose turned her head away from his foul breath and took advantage of the ease of movement his change of grip gave her. She reached behind her and got a hold of her whole satchel. "It's called a ladle," she said as she swung the satchel around with all her might.
He fell to the ground in a daze as the object within that she'd intended to grab caught him squarely on the temple. Rose started toward the direction of the Captain, intending to give his opponent the same treatment. She sidestepped a pair of men fighting but another man came at her from the side. Rose swung her satchel but he quickly snatched it away as he ducked and rushed at her in a hunched position. She had the breath knocked out of her as she was thrown over his shoulder like a sack of grain, her own cloak trapping her arms. He kept heading in the direction of the door, not stopping a beat to cocoon her legs within her own cloak as well to cease her kicking.

Killian heard what had to be a dinner bell. His head snapped around to see the source as a large man crumpled under the impact of his new partner's satchel. She seemed to be handling herself well enough he thought as she was then unceremoniously snatched up over a shoulder and whisked towards the door. His smile changed to a look of extreme concentration as he pulled out his boot dagger. In the same movement he lifted his foot and delivered a heavy blow, unbalanced but thankfully it hit its mark on the man he had been sparring, and sent the attacker out a window.
Jones tracked the pair across the busy room and lined up a shot so as to not hit one of his own men. He launched the blade with deadly accuracy into the young lady's flowing cloak. When the material became taunt she was yanked from his shoulder. "Smee! Left Mate!", he cried and the man turned with a confused look only to have Ms Ingenue drop into his arms. The thief looked back as he lost his quarry and while no longer paying attention, ran head first into the wall just a foot to the left of the door he meant to use to make his escape.
Jones joined his men at the door where they formed a barrier. Rather than have anyone follow them out, the Captain had a better idea. He pulled out another grenade that lit itself upon being retrieved from his belt. You had to love such convenience. "It's been a pleasure patronizing your fine establishment, I will remember it fondly. Farewell." Hook tossed the grenade into the hands of a man eyeing them menacingly. The ruffian suddenly reached a rather high pitch as he dropped the bomb and along with his fellows dived behind tables and benches. The pirates made their exit as Killian saw the explosive puff out, without all the desired fireworks. "You can't get anything good these days."

*** 5 years BDC ***
It has been several days, maybe even a week, since Grumpy, back in that time known as Dreamy, had to give up his dreams. The dream of being more than just a dwarf working and living in the mines. The dream of going on an adventure to see the world. The dream to be with his love. Nova.
An angry snort escaped him, when his hand reached out to the tavern's door. This was the first evening since then he left the mines at all. In all his anger he had spent days and nights working, harder than any dwarf around. But for what? It even hadn't helped him to forget. How could he ever forget this flicker of happieness? And still he couldn't stop wondering. Wondering if he had done the right thing. Another snort.
This evening he wouldn't spend working. His muscles already felt like burning, his energy at a limit. No, this evening he would try something else to make him forget. Something he only heard of till today. Something supposedly able to kill your pain. Alcohol.
With a look living up his name greatly, Grumpy entered the tavern. He remembered to have been here once, not that long ago. A girl named Belle had cheered him up, had advised him to follow his dreams. And yet another snort came out of his mouth.
Grumpy felt some curious eyes on him, as he aimed straight for the bar. The bar would serve him the best seat to be all on his own, except of some people sitting next to him.
"What can you recommend to make a man forget?", he asked the barkeeper, who was just about to turn around to the new guest.

Jack Sparrow came flying into the tavern at record speed almost as if he had be flung in by several strapping young lads who happened all to be brothers left very unimpressed by the way a certain pirate had dealt with their sister/s. Jack stood up and dusted himself off while grabbing his hat and afixing it back onto his raven locks.
"We shall have a magnificent garden party and you all aren't invited!" he shouted out at the door before shuffling his way to the bar. Taking a stool at the bar Jack lend over and in a very breathy fashion spoke to the bar keep "First time I've ever been thrown into a tavern aye." The barkeeps face scrunched up as he breathed in Sparrow's foul breath. Jack who was never one to waste an opportune moment reach over to steal a mug of whatever was close enough to grab.
"What are you drinking?" The barkeep was short with Sparrow and to the point.
"I'm good savvy." Sparrow replied taking a big gulp of the mugs contents a golden tooth grin on his face.
The barkeep laughed "Bloody pirates never learn, all you did was steal the strong clean spirits for the counter top rags."
Jack reached into the mug and sure enough he pulled out a dirty, stained rag and with a simple shrug continued to drink from the mug. "I've drunk up from worse things." The barkeep decided to ignore the pirate and get back to his duties. It was shortly after this that a very grumpy looking dwarf entered the tavern and walked up to the bar.
"What can you recommend to make a man forget?" the grumpy looking dwarf had demanded.
"A bottle of rum, a first mate and two of the finest wenches around makes for a good start." Jack Sparrow replied to the small statured man. "Say you look familiar..." squinting his eyes Sparrow leaned in to examine the familiar looking man "Have I threatened you before?"

"A bottle of rum, a first mate and two of the finest wenches around makes for a good start."
Grumpy turned to the sudden voice from the side. A puzzled look, mixed with the usual portion of grumpiness, was laying on his face. "first what?" Not that he would have understood anything the man had said, but this somehow was the first question coming up.
"Say you look familiar...""Have I threatened you before?"
As far as the wild-looking man was leaning in, as far Grumpy was leaning away from him. "Doubt that.", he replied, sparing with words. Neither himself nor any of his brothers have ever placed a foot in a place like this. Well, that was actually not correct. He did, he suddenly remembered to have met that Belle woman here. But a guy like this would have caught his eye for sure.
Without another word, Grumpy turned back to the barkeeper. "Gimme a bottle of this.. rum stuff." Neither did he know what Rum was, nor did he know that it wasn't exactly common to go for a bottle instead of a glass, at least for the start.

"Gimme a bottle of this.. rum stuff."
"Aye, what he said!" Jack said while slamming his fist down on the bar. Jack eyed the small man as he slowly leaned back, he seemed naive in regards to the consumption of rum now that was something he could take advantage of.
"You know, it's very bad luck to drink all on ones lonesome. Bloody Selkies will take advantage of ya mate. Luckily for you Captain Jack Sparrow is here to help you drink away the pain of whatever her name may be."
Jack leaned over so his shoulder was touching where the shoulder of a taller man would be, he looked around the bar making sure the coast was clear before breathing his pirate breath on the dwarf.
"Unless... You're not a eunuch are you?"

Grumpy's brow wrinkled at every further word of the wild looking guy before he suddenly turned around. "Her name?" Was it really that obvious that there had been a woman he was willing to forget by drinking this alcohol stuff?
At the man's sudden touch the dwarf's brow wrinkled once again.
"Unless... You're not a eunuch are you?"
"A what?", he asked truly confused. This guy was not only looking strange, he even talked in riddles. Or at least it was sounding like riddles in until recently naive dwarf's ears.

"A what?"
"A eunuch mate..." Jack thought of the best way he could to explain it before using his middle and index finger to pantomime scissors. "They get a snip snip making them incapable of wooing a woman savvy?"
Jack poured some of the dwarfs rum for himself and the little furry man, but mostly for himself.
"By the sour look on your face one may think you were incapable of wooing a woman yourself, course you could have just been born the Crabby elf." He said without a care in the world for racial differences and finishing his current helping of rum before pouring another.

"A eunuch mate...""They get a snip snip making them incapable of wooing a woman savvy?"
Grumpy had an intense look at the man, actually had no words right now. Humans seemed to be real weirdos. As his uninvited conversation partner continued, he turned his attention back to him for another incredulous look.
"By the sour look on your face one may think you were incapable of wooing a woman yourself, course you could have just been born the Crabby elf."
"Not an elf.", he suddenly objected with a mutter. "A dwarf." And with these words, Grumpy raised the crock the barkeeper had placed for him beside the bottle of rum and took one long drink of his very first drop of alcohol.
It took not even a second, till the high percentage fluid left his lips in a fountain again. The burning in his throat made him cough and he was hardly able to breathe. Also, his face was getting all red in an instant. Hell of a brew!

"Not an elf.","A dwarf."
"There's a difference?" Jack asked earnestly before watching the Dwarf spit the rum everywhere his face red from the harsh beverage.
Jack was saddened by the waste of good rum and poured himself another. "Plenty of women out there mate, Mermaids, Selkies, Werewomen, never meet a an Evil Sorcerers I didn't like and of course there is always the Fairies though they can't be trusted what with there goodie good natures Savvy."
And with that Jack downed the rum as if it was a mug of water.

Grumpy gave the wild-looking man another quizzical gaze from the side, as the burning in his throat died down bit by bit. The dwarf actually looked like he was thinking about which of the man's words to bring into question. In the end, he decided for none of them though. Instead, he turned back to the crock in front of him and took another sip, this time well prepared for the devil's brew flowing down his throat.
The liquid still caused this burning feeling but did that not only went for his body, but also for his mind. He felt the sorrow slowly got burnt down by the flames of the rum. Hell of a brew.
Grumpy took another pull in silence.
