What did you think of the movie?Okay, and once again, I watched this a month or two ago and waited too long to post so my memory is sketchy! I really enjoyed the movie though. What expectations or theories did you have that either ended up right or wrong? I've seen it too many times to remember what original expectations or theories I'd had, plus I'd listened to the audiobook. I expected it to be really good like the previous films had been and it definitely lived up to that! Who was your favorite character and why? Least favorite?Snape was my most favorite. We got to see beyond the tough, snarky side and it was heartbreaking to witness him do something that we could see hurt him deeply. I can't think of anyone that stood out as a least favorite. Maybe Draco? He was a bit cowardly but then again, he was given this horrible task but didn't have the bravery to stand up against it. When you think about it though, he is still just a kid who grew up with bad parents. What scenes or situations did you like best? Least? Gosh, there were so many amazing scenes! Seeing the Dementors coming into our world and tearing it apart was awesome. The magic fights were awesome. Least, well, I wouldn't say it's least but I do feel that the whole thing with Dumbledore and Harry in the caves was much better done in the audiobook. I didn't feel like Dumbledore was suffering nearly as much as the books portrayed when he was being forced to drink from that fountain to get to the necklace. What were some of your favorite quotes?Hermione Granger: [snaps her fingers] Hey! She's only interested in you because she thinks you're the Chosen One. Harry Potter: But I am the Chosen One. [Hermione smacks him on the head with the newspaper] Harry Potter: Sorry... kidding! Ron Weasley: So, did you and Ginny do it? Harry Potter: [alarmed] What? Ron Weasley: Did you hide the book? How do you rate this movie compared to the rest in the series?I still think Goblet is my favorite but they're all really great! I'm not sure if I can really put them in order from most to least favorite. They all feel like one big story. If you've read the book, how do you rate this movie compared to the book? What did they leave out? What did they change? It's been far too long to remember what's been left out and exactly how I would rate it compared to the book. Only think I can really remember is what I'd already mentioned about Dumbledore not seeming to have suffered nearly as much as in the books when he was drinking that water. It was tortuously heartbreaking in the book and the things coming out of the water seemed way scarier. What do you think of the movie now that you've seen the whole series? Still love it! Did you find anything new you didn't catch the previous time(s) watching?
No. Seen it several times and there were big gaps of time between watching it so I can't recall anything new spotted. How did the movie stand the test of time?Really well! Doesn't feel aged at all!

I am impressed with the fact that this movie took it's time to introduce the horcruxes and Voldemort's intentions with them to set up one of the most important storylines in the final two films. I agree with Heidi's initial review as to there being more to the caves scene with Dumbledore and Harry in the book than the movie. If anything, I felt like they were sort of rushing through the scene to get back to the astronomy tower. The scenes with Ginny and Harry lack an immense amount of chemistry which is frustrating considering their relationship is carefully curated overtime in the books. One thing I wished the movies directors did a better job at was giving Ginny's actress better direction and character development instead of just suddenly thrusting her into the spotlight. But overall this movie was excellent! One thing I've noticed this time around and have a new appreciation for is Lupin's unwavering trust in Dumbledore, Snape and the Order. And Hermione's confused yet heartbroken emotions over Ron this movie were executed perfectly. Poor girl !

The search for the horcruxes was definitely way more involved with the books, but this go-around watching, I didn't fully remember that. It's been, what, over a decade since I listened to the audiobook. I only listened to them once back when they'd first released.
I'm not sure what else feels rushed anymore because of all the time that's passed since reading the books, but the movie was because the movie was really good.
Agreed on the whole Ginny thing. In the movies, it feels like it came out of the blue. Just suddenly they're totally crushing hard on each other, after only a couple brief looks that didn't really have that magnetic pull of attraction you usually will see between a potential couple. They should have hinted more at that. I did notice Harry bothered by seeing Ginny on a date and kissing another guy, but when I saw Harry's reaction, I was kinda like, where did that come from? We definitely should have seen more interactions between the two of them.
Now Ron and Hermione, I definitely saw and felt what was going on between them starting a whole movie before. You saw the hints of long looks, the hurt and jealousy on their faces when they saw each other with someone else. Lol, I agree that Emma Watson did so great portraying Hermione's hurt and jealousy and Ron was so great at his "wtf did I do?" confusion. XD
Omg, that girlfriend of Ron's (can't remember her name) was so annoying! I didn't like her as much as Hermione didn't like her. XD
Totally heartbreaking to lose Dumbledore and so sad that Snape had to be the one to do it. Speaking of Snape, I was a little confused on the whole "half-blood prince" title and I can't remember what it said in the books. Maybe you remember better, Ariel? The half-blood part makes sense. But why the "Prince" title?

But why the "Prince" title? Yes!! The Half Blood Prince was a nickname he gave himself. His mother was a witch and his father was a muggle, and his mother's maiden name was Prince! In the movies, Hermione reported that she went to the library and found nothing on a Half Blood Prince, yet in the books she came across the name Eileen Prince I believe in the school archives or something of the sort and had a hunch it had to do with that former student. It turned out that Eileen Prince was Snape's mother. Hollywood Heidi
