"Let's just get this done."

Unphased, Maeve merely quirked a brow at him but the girl spoke up before Maeve could give a witty retort.


"Logan," "relax my friend, she is just saying hello." "I'm Ororo Munroe,

"Ororo," Maeve repeated. "That's a unique and beautiful name. I'm glad that you decided to come here." Maeve was sincere, despite the fact she was turning up the sweetness and taking her time with niceties just to annoy Logan into loosening up a bit. Maybe then he wouldn't end up grumpily nipping at the rest of the team. It might also have a little to do with the fact that his sharp, pushy attitude that might intimidate others only goaded her into poking at the grumpy mutant. Maeve casually leaned against the door frame and loosely crossed her arms, swinging one foot over the other. "Did you two have a nice flight? I hear flying commercial can be a real pain."

"Logan,""relax my friend, she is just saying hello.", suddenly Ororo chimed in and placed a gentle hand on his arm.

Logan said nothing in return, but somehow her friendly turn really made him calm a little. Maybe not exactly calm though, but swallowing another grunt of annoyance. And so he stood in place, waiting for the two women to get each other known. Not exactly patiently, but at least without letting too much of his impatience show off - or that was what he thought.

His brows furrowed once again when Maeve suddenly casually leaned against the door frame and started to provoke him just some more. "Did you two have a nice flight? I hear flying commercial can be a real pain."

"You really wanna chat with us about the flight while your jailbird's waitin' for his rescue team?", Logan reacted with another wave of annoyance. And gone was that little calmness Ororo had been able to send him. The truth was, he didn't care if this guy they shall help to get out was waiting for another hour or not, but Logan was just exhausted from their journey. Not physically, but mentally. Because yes, flying commercial could be a real pain in the ass.

Maeve shrugged. "Not really," she said nonchalantly. "Just letting you unload some of that crotchety attitude on me in hopes you don't growl so much at the rest of the team," she added with a pleasant smile. Maeve stepped aside and pulled the door open wide. "Come on in."



***Maeve, Logan, and Ororo exit to New York - X-Mansion - Foyer***

A couple hours have passed.

Charles, Jean, Logan, Maeve, and Peter had finished plans for breaking Erik out of Trask Industries.

Maeve has left a van from the cleaning company at the arranged landing spot with uniforms inside, ready and waiting for the rest of the team who'll be arrival shortly.

Friday has come to an end.

It is now Saturday, October 25, 1975, late morning.

"Thanks for doing this with me, by the way," Peter nodded in appreciation towards Jean as the two of them headed through the shrubbery garden of the front entrance, making their way to his 'Silvermobile, "Hope's been out of sorts ever since she got here, so figured she'd need a nice surprise to cheer her up. But hey, I guess we've all been there at one point or another." Peter confided in Jean, as he genuinely wanted to make a kind gesture towards the girl that he really liked. Jean had come up with the idea that if Peter bought Hope some nice, clean clothes she may just feel more comfortable during her stay at the school, and since Peter didn't know a single thing about shopping for girls Jean had graciously enlisted her services to make a trip to the mall.

The silver convertible began to come into view as they made their way down the driveway, "And speaking of people who need to cheer up, didn't you say razor claws was joining us? Where's big bad at, anyways?" Peter inquired as he looked around and behind them to see if he could spot their hairy, grumpy friend anywhere in plain sight.

[Kristi Lynne]

"And speaking of people who need to cheer up, didn't you say razor claws was joining us? Where's big bad at, anyways?"

"Probably begging the Professor for any job other than chaperoning us," Jean remarked. "I don't think Logan is a big fan of malls. Or crowds of people, or people in general. There's a lot going on in his head...." Her voice trailed off, as she didn't like to pry into others' past or their psyche without permission. But 'Razor Claws,' as Peter had dubbed him, radiated an amount of pain she couldn't help but feel.

"Anyway, I'm sure we can change his mind with one trip to the food court," she asserted. "And I'm glad to help. Hope is a sweet girl. Sometimes I get this feeling that I know her, it's weird. But you two are good together. She seems to make you slow down," Jean observed. "In a good way." 

[Ariel]

"Anyway, I'm sure we can change his mind with one trip to the food court,"

"Ah, food, the ultimate game changer. Maybe we can find that guy a Snickers bar or something," Peter chuckled at his own remark as he approached the silver convertible. He patted the tin of the car twice over before leaping over the door and into the driver's seat.

"And I'm glad to help. Hope is a sweet girl. Sometimes I get this feeling that I know her, it's weird. But you two are good together. She seems to make you slow down," "In a good way."

"Thanks, I mean, how can anyone resist...this?" Peter gave Jean a tilted look of question as he showcased himself with his hand traveling from head to toe - or knee since he was already sitting in the car. "Now, while we wait for Grumpy Gus to arrive," Peter turned his attention to the music deck of his car, "I have to fulfill a promise, to a very dear friend of mine...this one's for you, Jeanie," Peter's expression turned sweet as he smiled at Jean with dough boy eyes, his index finger pressing the play button. The blaring opening of the guitar solo from "Working Man" by Rush began to play and Peter couldn't help but to commit to an air guitar solo. "I get up at seven, yeah, and I go to work at nine," Peter  began to sing along with the words being sung, "I got no time for livin’ - no - Yes, I’m workin’ all the time!" Satisfied with his performance, Peter looked over to Jean, "See Jean? Speedyboy never forgets! Don'tcha just dig this vibe?!" Nodding, Peter exclaimed excitedly before picking that air guitar back up and grooving along to the song.

"Thanks, I mean, how can anyone resist...this?" 

Jean gave him an incredulous look. "Well, lucky for Scott, I somehow found the strength to," she declared. She lowered herself into the passenger seat of the so-called Silvermobile and buckled herself in. She hadn't even relaxed back against the seat before a song was blasting out of the stereo. 

"See Jean? Speedyboy never forgets! Don'tcha just dig this vibe?!"

"Yeah, it's...it's great!" she shouted above the guitar. It wasn't exactly her vibe -- that was more Fleetwood Mac or ABBA or Hall & Oates. But it clearly brought such joy to Peter that she couldn't begrudge him his air guitar solo. She didn't have to accept it without argument, though. 

Jean held a hand up to her head and winced in mock pain. "What's that, Professor? You need to talk to me? About something really important? Peter, I should go!" she insisted, feigning an attempt to open the passenger door in escape.

[Ariel]

"What's that, Professor? You need to talk to me? About something really important? Peter, I should go!"

"What?" Peter's fingertips paused mid strum of his electric air guitar, his surprised gaze flashed up at Jean as she attempted to leave. His ears perked up at the slight clicking sound of the passenger door beginning to unlock, but before Jean could give leaving a second thought Peter's speed carried him around the front of the car and to the outside of Jean's door.

"Jean, don't go - was it my singing? It was my singing, wasn't it? Look, I'm no Elton, but if it means anything I'll shut my pie hole. That's a hard one for me, but I can commit...I-," Peter braced in a panic as his friend attempted to leave, before heaving a heavy sigh in his sudden surrender, "...If you must go, I won't stop you. But the truth is, this was kinda more than just picking out clothes for Hope. And well, as cool and popular as I may seem, like, you're kind of the only real friend I've got." Peter shrugged before opening the car door for Jean to allow her to exit. His regular smirk drooped into a disappointed frown as his gaze dropped to the ground.

"...If you must go, I won't stop you. But the truth is, this was kinda more than just picking out clothes for Hope. And well, as cool and popular as I may seem, like, you're kind of the only real friend I've got."


"Oh, Pete, I'm sure that's not true," Jean replied reflexively. But the more she thought about it, and registered the emotion in his words and on his face, she wondered if it were true. Peter was older and didn't live at the school with the rest of them, his mother had tolerated his super-powered shenanigans but kept the secret of his father's identity, and his father -- well, Lehnsherr had disappeared as quickly as he had reappeared. That was something else she would have to keep quiet about, if she wanted to see the smirk return to Peter's face.

"It just ... takes a certain kinda' girl to keep up with you," she declared. Lifting her hand, she took a psychic hold of the car door and wrested it from his hands to close it. "Now, if you're gonna' make your only real friend listen to this whole album, air guitar and all, then you owe her a cherry slushee."

[Ariel]

The car door fell away from Peter's hands. He looked up to meet Jean's assertive gaze, who had just laid down the ground rules of this little road trip to the mall. The moment he realized that Jean was back in the plan, he couldn't help but to smile as he excitedly climbed back into the car.

"Then that settles it!" Terms, conditions, Peter didn't care. The fact that Peter was going to get away from life for a little while and have some fun with a friend was enough to lift his spirits. Even if he was somewhat trapping his friend with his musical taste. Peter turned the keys in the ignition, and the engine roared through the entire front court, "Well, I guess the Grump doesn't wanna come," Peter threw a glance over his shoulder at the school entrance with no Wolverine in sight, "Who needs a chaperone anyways...well let's be real, I can never guarantee that I won't get into trouble, but I'm sure you'll keep me in line as usual, Jeanie," Peter interlaced his fingers and stretched them out in front of his chest to crack the bones in his hands before placing them on the steering wheel.

This really wasn't something he was looking forward to but since the professor had asked him to do so, for it seemed that he had a lot on his own plate, Logan hadn't complained about it, at least not for too long. Also, if this Charles guy wasn't able to help him with his amnesia problem, then probably nobody was. Well, he had survived a lot of other shit, so how much worse could one day babysitting at the Mall be?

Still, though, he was taking his time with it. After all, it had been only yesterday that they had helped a public enemy to break out of prison and he still couldn't believe why everyone seemed to be totally fine with that. Maybe he would be able to get some answers from Peter and Jean while they were doing this.

From the distance, Logan saw the kids sitting in a car, the engine already revving up. Actually, the thought of Speedy behind the wheel while the girl was sitting right next to him, seemed to even bring forth something like a protective instinct inside of him that he didn't know existed.

Coming from a completely different direction than the one they had been glancing at before they had decided to just start the trip without him, Logan suddenly opened the driver's door. "I'm gonna drive."

[Kristi Lynne]

"Well, I guess the Grump doesn't wanna come ... Who needs a chaperone anyways...well let's be real, I can never guarantee that I won't get into trouble, but I'm sure you'll keep me in line as usual, Jeanie."


" 'Tis a heavy burden that I bear," she groaned. Because, as she had joked, it was hard for anyone to keep up with Peter. Even those who shared superpowers.

"I'm gonna drive."

Her red hair swung quickly in the direction of the voice, finally seeing the third party they'd been waiting on. "Oh, morning, Logan!" she said cheerfully. "Actually, Peter's really protective of his car. I'm sure it'll be fine."

[Ariel]

"I'm gonna drive."

Peter's jaw fell open slightly as Logan attempted to kick him out of the driver's seat. If he had to chaperone their mall visit, it didn't bother Peter much as he enjoyed having someone around that was easy to poke fun at. But manning the silvermobile was Peter's right, and there would be no way that Logan would be getting his hairy, sharp claws up in Quicksilver's dashboard.

"Actually, Peter's really protective of his car. I'm sure it'll be fine."

"Thank you, Jeanbug," Peter nodded gratefully in Jean's direction, thankful that she had his back, "Me, drive. You, back seat, Chappie," Peter tilted his head as he pointed his thumb backwards to point at the rear seat of the car, "Get in loser, we're going shopping." Peter spoke in his best valley fry voice before chuckling to himself, "Maybe that will catch on someday. Now...anyone else? Or are we ready?" Peter asked aloud as he placed his sunglasses carefully over his face.

"Oh, morning, Logan!"

Logan ignored the morning greeting; not because he'd be rude or something but because he never had been a morning person and therefore liked to just skip that time of the day without even be mentioned.

"Actually, Peter's really protective of his car. I'm sure it'll be fine."

"Thank you, Jeanbug,""Me, drive. You, back seat, Chappie,""Get in loser, we're going shopping."

First, Logan let out a quiet grunting sound, but then he had to even grin himself, more inwardly though. "Fine. But don't kill us before shopping will.", he said as he closed the driver's door to take a seat in the back of the car instead.

"Maybe that will catch on someday. Now...anyone else? Or are we ready?"

Logan said nothing, but threw one last glance in the inside mirror, then turned his face towards the window. Actually, smiling a little bit.

[Kristi Lynne]

"All present and accounted for. Let's go," Jean declared, pleasantly surprised that Logan didn't put up more of a fight over who would be driving. Perhaps he was still adjusting to the jet lag or not fully rested from the previous night's mission. But his peace in the backseat was about to be shattered once Peter turned the key in the ignition and cranked up the radio again. 

"Sorry," Jean shouted apologetically, glancing over her shoulder to the backseat. "His car, his music." She threw a grin at Peter before facing forward again, pulling her hair up into a ponytail as the speedster sitting beside her prepared to hit the gas pedal.

[Ariel]

"Sorry," "His car, his music."



"And this is why you're my co-pilot, Jeanie," Peter interlaced his fingers and stretched them outwards to crack his knuckles before allowing his fingers to caress the driver's wheel, "Let's kick it!" The music blared through the silvermobile as Peter put the pedal to the metal. The car took off, leaving the Mansion to grow smaller in the distance behind them under the warm growing sun of the late morning as they sped off to the mall.

***Virginia - Maeve Charbonneau's Family House***

Maeve stood at the mansion's doorstep, still fuming, still stirred up in various emotions. That had been very rash of her, just teleporting out in the middle of an argument. But she hadn't exactly been in a calm and collected state of mind, had she?

Some of her anger was starting to be redirected toward the owner of the mansion whose threshold she now stood upon. No doubt he'd had a hand in the idea of her hiding here. With that in mind, Maeve smacked the doorbell with the heel of her hand and leaned on it for a couple seconds longer than was customary, hearing the faint sound of its musical chime from the other side of the door.

She crossed her arms and waited, ready to now unleash her anger at Charles.

[Ariel]

***Vye opens the front door from the Foyer***

Vye opened the door, allowing the sunlight to pool into the entrance to the foyer as she addressed the person at the door. It was a woman, and she didn't appear at all that happy as she made eye contact with Vye. Being the awkward woman she was at times, Vye's eyes widened at the sight of the unhappy woman as she smiled nervously, "Uh, hi," Vye reached a single hand upwards towards her own face and gave the woman a wave hello, "Have we met?" Vye was unsure of who this woman was, she had a familiar look to her. Though sometimes, people just have those recognizable faces you'd see just about anywhere. Though, this woman appeared to be comfortable with just strolling up to knock on the Mansion door, so Vye figured she must not be foreign to the property.

The door opened and she was greeted by an unfamiliar face. Not surprising, as she'd assumed she'd only caught a glimpse of the high occupancy of the mansion when she'd popped around in her ghost form that first day in her search for Charles. While she'd seen many faces that day, she hadn't mentally logged them as her focus had solely been on finding Charles.

"I don't believe so," she said, working to alleviate as much a clip to her tone as possible for this stranger who didn't deserve her ire. Not surprising, the person who did was not the one who'd answered the door, though she really wish he had so that she could have lit into him without having any of it distinguished by students or what she assumed was a professor judging by the age of the woman.

"Maeve," she tossed out with a light gesture toward herself before getting to business. "I'm here to see Charles." The woman appeared nervous and wasn't making a move to shift aside to invite her in or Maeve simply didn't have the patience for the woman to get to it on her own, so Maeve invited herself in, appearing to suddenly vanish from the doorstep.



***Maeve teleports to Foyer***

*** Vye and Logan enter from New York - X-Mansion - Front Yard ***

Descending down the steps, Vye lead Logan to the shiny silver car that sat comfortably in front of the Mansion. Vye walked up to the drivers side of the vehicle, and with the single turn of the key did both doors unlock in unison, "Alrighty, hop in! But we gotta make this quick, because...," Vye froze up as she shifted her body into the driver's front seat. She did not want to insinuate to Logan that the very car that they were settling in was being stolen. Or...more than less, being borrowed for the time being, "...Y'know. The Professor has eyes everywhere. We don't want to be caught fleeing the school yard, do we?" Vye questioned as she slipped the keys into the ignition, making the engine roar.

Logan said nothing while Vye led them to a silver car parked in front of the Mansion, not even after she had opened the doors to just that car.

"Alrighty, hop in! But we gotta make this quick, because...,"

... you stole the car keys from Peter, he finished in his mind only as he took a seat with an unchanged expression. Logan had been sitting in this car only a couple of hours ago when Peter, Jean, and he had made that tour to the mall.

"...Y'know. The Professor has eyes everywhere. We don't want to be caught fleeing the school yard, do we?"

"Or caught stealin' things from his students," Logan couldn't help but utter after all, still seeming unimpressed by the fact itself. He had stolen a lot of stuff, and also was sure that this woman was just desperate for some reason, in need of a vehicle that she would bring back after whatever their mission was. "Don't sweat it," he quickly added, now actually a slight smirk around his lips. "I'm no angel myself. Let's get on the road." Belting up, Logan turned his gaze ahead again, not even expecting an explanation.

[Ariel]

"Or caught stealin' things from his students," "Don't sweat it,"  "I'm no angel myself. Let's get on the road." 

"Yeah, right," Vye nodded furiously in agreement with her newfound sidekick. Sure, breaking and entering into property that was not her own clearly wasn't right. Though, her impulsive and naïve teenage tendencies followed her into her adult years as she truly did not have the experience she required to become a full fledged adult. Being in the state she had been in for so long, she missed out on a lot of her own life. Nevertheless, her sights were set on what she wanted, and these lingering tendencies came in handy in this moment. Turning the key in the ignition, the engine roared and came to life. And without another word, she sped them out of the front yard before anyone could hear them leave.

***Vye and Logan exit***

*** Vye and Logan enter from New York - Upper East Side - Lockwood Family Home ***

Vye stepped out of the passenger's side of the vehicle, shutting the door behind her. The ride back to the Mansion was extremely quiet as neither party made any sort of remark or conversation. It was probably for the best. She couldn't even describe the wave of emotions that she was experiencing, they were only confirmed by a defeated complexion and tear stained cheeks. She wiped her tears away aggressively with her sleeve as she began to walk in front of Logan and towards the main entrance.

As much as Logan had been fine with the silence during their ride back, as much had he felt miserable about it. Sure, this was still none of his business, especially since they practically didn't know each other, and, also sure, he was who he was, but maybe for the first time, Logan hated who he was. This girl needed comfort and was unlucky enough to be with him, one who wasn't good at socializing at all. And that not because he was too shy but because, usually, he was too uninterested.

Anyways, when Vye started hectically walking towards the main entrance, Logan stopped her after all, grabbed her arm, and made her turn back into his direction. But then, when they actually stood in front of each other, her probably expecting him to say something after this first action, he simply couldn't, which made him hate himself even more. "You, uh-" Logan started unusually awkward before coming up with a reason for his action, producing a handkerchief out of his jacket (thank God, he had, for whatever reason, one with him), "might wanna wipe these off before we go back inside. To spare you from annoying questions and gawkers, y'know."

[Ariel]

Vye stopped in her tracks, slightly startled as Logan's voice entered back into her clouded space. She had been so wrapped up in her emotions, that she had forgotten that he was there by her side. How could she have forgotten? He was a rather silent type at that, but he had truly been there for her the whole ride and back. She looked down at the handkerchief in his hand, and gently retrieved it from his hand in a sheepish manner, "Thanks," Vye gave her gratitude through her sniffling, blotting her cheeks, "How could I have been so stupid? I should have known things had changed. I just...didn't expect that, is all." Vye minorly vented as her reddened eyes finally found Logan's gaze again. It was rough, and yet soft all at the same time and she found comfort in his presence.

Logan was glad when Vye accepted the handkerchief without taking the words that had come along with his action taking amiss on him. He usually wasn't as harsh as people thought he was, but also often harsher as he wanted to be, at least right now. There was just something about this woman that brought up the weird wish of protecting her in him.

"Thanks,"

"Sure," he mumbled back, trying to avoid her gaze at first to not make her feel even more uncomfortable. But then she looked up at him more directly, after all, confiding in him even.

"How could I have been so stupid? I should have known things had changed. I just...didn't expect that, is all."

That boy was the one who had to be stupid, Logan thought in silence. For not searching harder for her, for not considering the possibility of her still being out there somewhere, and for being satisfied with her best friend instead. "It's not your fault," Logan tried words of comfort then, still slightly awkwardly but obviously with honesty. "Time and its passing can be a pain in the ass." And he spoke from experience. Living a much longer life than everyone else was not as great as people would think.
