Strong 4-star episode for me!
So great to see ol' Smokie again. Very creepy! What was with the four flashes the first time it came right up to Juliet and Kate? We did see it flash images at Mr. Eko that first time we got to see it. Was it that? Was it flashes like it was taking pictures? Was some electrical thing going through it that was stopping it from getting any closer like it was being controlled by someone?
I do NOT trust Juliet. She straight up lied to Kate about being left behind and handcuffed to her and about not knowing anything about Smokie. She even had the flippin' handcuff key! To my Jate annoyance, Jack seems to have formed a bond with her. I don't blame Sayid for saying that she wasn't going to go with them. I know she was on the outs with the Others since she tried to get Jack to kill Ben during surgery and that she was supposed to leave on the sub with Jack but I still can't help wondering if this is all a set-up. What if she's pretending to be on their side as part of another deal with Ben?
I so don't like Juliet for putting a wedge between Jate. It looked like it broke Kate's heart to hear that she'd broken Jack's heart. What she told Kate may have been true, at least partially, but she said it in a cruel way that just rang with bad intention and at the end, she cozies up next to Jack for their walk back with this smug look on her face.
I feel so bad for Kate. This is the second time she's done something that she thought was helping but had backfired and had turned the people she tried to help against her. Jack's been acting so cold toward her. Almost more so than right after he'd seen her with Sawyer. Kate's mom, Diane, is an idiot. Yes, what Kate did was wrong and like she said, murder in cold blood. But to stand there and tell her daughter that "you can't help who you love" and therefore didn't want help, that's so stupid of her. Her mom is horrible. It's unhealthy for a child to grow up in a household where daddy gets drunk and smacks mommy around and she claims that Kate only did it for herself. That's total bullshit. Also, does her mom not know that he used to hit on Kate when she got older? Who knows if he tried anything with her. *shudder* Her mom is selfish and child services should have taken Kate away when she was a child.
There's a great connection to the previous episode when she visited her mom in the hospital. We wondered why the heck her mom started calling out for help right away. We didn't know then what Kate had done and figured it was something bad bad, not bad with good intentions. But we saw in this episode that her mom promised that if she ever saw Kate again, she'd yell for help.
We have another great character connection in the flashbacks! Kate teamed up with Cassidy, Sawyer's ex-con victim who is now pregnant with Clementine. Small world!
What the heck is up with Locke? He's crazy. Blows up the submarine and now it seems like he's become an Other. Why? Because they have his dad? He doesn't have the ability to walk away from his dad, which he so totally should. It's ended badly every single time. He just doesn't learn.
Hurley conning Sawyer into being decent was so hilarious! Sawyer, bless his heart, tried really hard and looked incredibly uncomfortable during every second of it. I want to high five Hurley for pulling that off. His speech about why he did that was actually pretty good and Sawyer looked terrified at the idea of being looked to as leader but then kinda looked humbled. I hope this starts to set him on a good path.
Oh, and last thing. As they were all walking away from Othersville, I was like, why the heck didn't Kate and Juliet go and take a quick shower? I mean, they are caked in mud and they have those nice houses with running water. Of all the times to need a good scrubbing, this would be it, lol! I'm sure they're gonna be really itchy the whole walk back in that heat.
Favorite quotes/moments:
Kate: Welcome to the wonderful world of not knowing what the hell's going on.
Sawyer: I just came by to say, your baby's... he's not as wrinkly as he was a couple weeks ago.
Sawyer: You tricked me into being decent. That's gotta be the lamest cons in the history of cons.
Sawyer: Well what if I don't wanna be the leader? Hurley: Yeah well, I don't think Jack wanted it either. Sucks for you dude.

4 stars from me as well!! Even though really really big 4 stars! I totally agree as for Locke. He's acting so weird lately. O.O I mean I'm really wondering what he is up to. Haha Sawyer!! "... you, Sir Hugo." XD He totally knows how much time exactly he's sill not allowed to use nicknames. Hard time, lol. Also, seeing him to try a smile was so hilarious!! Anyway, I so enjoyed their talk in this episode, seeing Hurley training Sawyer to be nice, so to speak. Oh and what a strange compliment to Claire's baby! XD And the thumb up from Hurley, lmao. But also, I think deep inside Sawyer is somehow enjoying to be part of the others on the beach. Maybe though not even able to admit to himself. Aw, how he took Aaron and seriously smiled this time. That made my little Sawyer heart jump! I liked the flashback scenes with Kate and the stranger girl she has met, was wondering though about how open she talked to her. But then, she maybe didn't see a reason why to distrust her after all. And omg, I've just realized WHO the girl was, when she talked about having loved the wrong man. Sawyer's ex!! And yes, you're saying it! Small world it is! And that is a thing for sure not only in movies and shows! Oh, and I somehow knew it wasn't Kate, when they caught her. Just had a feeling about that. ^^ And I totally don't like Kate's mom too. She's such a horrible mother! I see why you dislike Juliette. If I was a Jater, I most probably would too! It's not that she would be on my favourites, but at least I somehow like her. But then, in some scenes I don't. XD I can't explain. She has pretty much different sides I think. I mean, I've still no idea, if she really belongs to Ben's "team" or not, I'd go for "not" though, if I'd have to vote right now. But even if I'm no Jater, I'm totally on Kate's side. It kind of broke my heart too, when Juliette told her that she had broken Jack's... and how sad she looked, when Juliette was telling her about Jack had seen her with Sawyer the last night. But as I'm a skater, I HAVE to add a YAY!!! here. XD
