I gave it 4 stars. I'm just gonna say right off the bat that I really love the Marvel films and most will be around 4 stars. There might be a couple 3's in the mix and 5's but for the most part, the MCU had a special place in my heart.
I've always loved comic books movies. They have practically every genre rolled into one. As for Iron Man, it's the movie that immediately got me into the MCU and got me looking forward to what was to come.
I liked the character of Tony. Arrogant, self-centered people like him are awful but when it comes to films, especially like these, it's interesting and satisfying to see them go through something that grounds them. Of course, you can't have him completely lose his personality. It's part of his charm. I love Tony Snark Stark's humor and a lot of it is based around his arrogance.
Pepper is really great as well. Loved watching her verbally spar with Tony. She helps keep him grounded as well. Having his first arc framed with "Proof that Tony Stark has a heart" basically sums it up! My favorite of her scenes has to be where she rebuttals Christina's (Tony's one-night stand reporter) comment about Pepper still picking up Tony's dry cleaning with "I do anything and everything Mr. Stark requires. Including occasionally taking out the trash" as she's, well, taking Christina out of the house. XD
Tony's crazy brilliant. I mean, that first suit was crude but damn, he built it while locked up in a cave with whatever scraps and parts he could get the bad guys to give him. Loved that whole scene where he breaks out.
So much nostalgia watching this again! Seeing Jarvis for his first appearance, his dry sarcastic wit is so great. I'd forgotten how funny his interactions with his other machines were, particularly threatening the fire extinguisher machine. They all seem to have personality.
It was also the first time we got introduced to S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Coulson. Love Coulson! Apparently he ended up way popular since they launched the TV based off him and S.H.I.E.L.D. which I also happen to enjoy.
Stan Lee showed up in the scene where Tony was arriving at the charity gala apparently as Hugh Hefner, or at least Tony called him "Hef". Lol! I'm actually not entirely sure if he was jokingly playing the role of Hef or if Tony mistakenly thought it was Hef.
I've seen this movie a ton of times but it's been awhile since I saw it. I usually rewatch the latest 5 movies in the MCU right before a new MCU is released in theaters so this one is many years older than the ones I more recently watch a lot. It's crazy to see how young everyone looks here.
Stinger! This one actually only had one stinger and it's our first time meeting Nick Fury! I remember how crazy the audience went when he popped up. Obviously a lot of comic book readers that were there that knew who the character was. He wants to talk to Tony about the Avengers Initiative. That also sent the audience into crazy cheers, including myself! Even though I've never read the comics, I knew the Avengers were a group of several comic book heroes working together and the thought of this actually growing to the point of a team up movie was insane at the time! Nobody else had gotten to that point. Comic book movies were all individual. Most were really good (First Spider-Man films and Bale's Batman films) but none ever progressed beyond their own origin stories.
I can't believe how far we've gotten into the MCU mythology! I absolutely love this world and love where it's going and this is the one that really launched it.

We did it! Started the MCU party watch! I'm so glad we do! Not only because I finally get me to watch all of them, also it is so much more exciting to do it with your friends! I give the first movie of the MCU 4 stars. I found it much more entertaining than in the past (I think I overslept important parts back then and wasn't as concentrated I should have been. I'm actually more into the heroes having fantasy powers just like Superman or Spiderman. Doesn't mean Iron Man isn't perfect the way it is. Btw Heidi, your stars were only mind-given lol. You forgot to actually vote. I liked the character of Tony too. Actually am no fan of rich buisness men, but his character is different. He's not just sitting on the top of some company, but has great abilities to produce the stuff himself. Like you said he really is a brilliant. Yah, and an asshole. I may not have liked him as much, if it wasn't Robert Downey who played him though. I love Robert Downey! But the mustache... O.O XD I liked Pepper too! She and Tony were so great together. Can't wait to see more of them. I loved her in the scene she's stolen the data from Tony's boss also. Who was Jarvis again? Sorry for asking, but if you're not far into the MCU mythology like you are, it's hopefully not a silly question or that I don't remember him right now. Haha Stan Lee shows up in every of his movies! XD And I think it was a joke from Tony to call him Heff. But I liked Tony's speech in the end the best! The truth is... I am Iron Man. Yes, he really said that!! He might be the first hero figure who revealed his real identity. This time I saw the end scene after the credits! Willi was like "Huh! I've never seen that!" and he actually has watched most of the MCU movies.

I just noticed my star rating was missing! The voice acting of Jarvis is Paul Bettany. Definitely always remember that cuz it'll be something fun for future movies. Funny that your bf never saw the stinger for this movie! It was the official first one in the MCU so people didn't figure out until several movies in that all of them have stingers. I remember people leaving the theater right when the credits started rolling for several films and me sitting there like, "Wait, people! There's more!" Now, practically the entire theater will sit in their seats until the house lights go back on.
