10 stars from me! Lol, okay, fine. 5 stars.
Funny you say it doesn't feel like a Cap movie but an Avengers movie. People do jokingly call it Avengers 3. They do concentrate on Cap more though and his relationship with Bucky. You've also got Peggy's funeral. So sad!
One of the things I really love about this movie is the extremely interesting argument at its heart. The one that has Steve and Tony at odds and splits the team in two. I can understand the points of view of everyone. Cap may seem to have a more old fashioned view on it since he fought during a time when people were fighting for freedom. It's ingrained in him that people shouldn't be controlled or policed as that takes away from their freedom. Now while I agree that perhaps someone should be in charge of them and their actions, I don't agree that it would be the government. The government is corrupt and always tends to lean toward selfish decisions. Cap is right. What if they're needed somewhere but the government doesn't let them? What if the government sends them somewhere to do something that they feel isn't right? It's too much power to give a corrupt body of people.
Tony's argument makes sense also. There does need to be some structure to what happens. Someone who's going to take care of not only deciding where they need to be for the good of the people, but also the process before, during, and after. I just don't see there being a group of people that can determine that the way it needs to be determined. I almost feel that Tony wants these Sakovia Accords because then it'll make him feel less guilty. He could put all the blame on the people policing them. They are the ones who told them to go to a place and what to do when they get there. Therefore, it's their fault.
So far, the Avengers seem to have been doing fine in making the decisions on the best place to be. Ultron was a huge mistake. Tony was attempting to create a way to keep the world safe from the greater threat of powerful beings from other planets whose technology far surpasses our own. Unfortunately, that backfired. That happens though. Who's to say Tony wouldn't have gone to the people in charge with his idea and that they wouldn't have jumped at the idea? I kind of think they would have. Then Tony could have blamed someone besides himself.
There's just a million ways that a million arguments could go and there's no way to know what would work best. I agree on someone policing bigger decisions like Tony's Ultron experiment but as far as where they need to be and who they need to fight, I think the Avengers have always been in the right place and done the right thing. They can't control the casualties. Think of what the casualties would have been if the Avengers hadn't shown up at all. If the people in charge told them not to.
I also really love Bucky! Poor guy. Tortured soul. He was forced to do horrible things and it eats at him. You can see he blames himself in a way even though he had no control over it.
Yes, there was definitely a heavy, kinda depressing tone to what they were all going through. It was so real though. So amazingly written.
Lol, I understand what you mean about Tony's rage but I definitely did not side with him. It was not Bucky's fault. He was completely under the control of Hydra. He couldn't stop himself if he tried to and you can clearly see on his face the regret and pain as that footage played. I found it more heartbreaking to see Cap and Tony fighting each other so intensely. Edge of my seat, worried for the both of them and hoping one didn't kill the other. That would have definitely haunted them forever.
Cap: He's my friend.
Tony: So was I.
Ugh, that line tears me up every time!
Yes! Our first intro to Spider-Man and omg, when I saw Scott Lang show up with the gang, I just totally geeked out. We got to see our first glimpse of Giant Man! I'm so glad that wasn't ruined for me. There were a lot out people who got spoiled about that. That's one of the many reasons I like to see a movie on premiere night.
I'm also a big fan of the Tobey Spider-Man movies but unfortunately, the timing was off. As it was, Tobey was kind of too old for the part. Well, they didn't try to make him younger than they could pull off but they started Spider-Man off at a later age rather than like in the comics. I think they thought that people wouldn't be that into watching a young kid as a main character. Either way, I loved the Tobey Spideys but this new one is really great as well. It's a separate universe so it's easy to keep them in separate camps and love them both individually.
Vision was great! You can see the relationship blossoming between he and Scarlet Witch. He was distracted, which is when War Machine ended up crashing to the earth. Tony said he didn't think that Vision could get distracted and Vision was surprised by it too. He was distracted because his full attention and concern was on Scarlet Witch. I can't wait to see that develop more in Infinity War! I know there were already pics released from the set of the two of them.
I honestly don't think Aunt May was too young. It's funny that they blatantly pointed that out in the movie, knowing some people would make a stink about it. "Aunts come in all shapes and sizes" or something like that, that Aunt May said. It makes more sense though. Look at Spidey's age. He's young which means that his real parents wouldn't have been that old, which then means that the sister of his mother or father (I'm not sure which side she was from) would be around the same age as Spidey's parents were. The old lady aunt was the one that kinda threw me off, though I believe that's how they had it in the comics.
Zemo was a pretty good villain. He knew he couldn't beat the Avengers so instead, he got them to tear each other apart; to fight amongst themselves. That's pretty brilliant, actually.
Hm, I don't remember if he's the guy cuz I don't remember your first idea! If it was about someone wanting to get the Avengers to turn on each other, then yes, it was this guy!
Okay, I think I should stop myself before I go on with another 500 paragraphs on the brilliance of this movie!
Can't wait to continue!
