In the wake of disasters everywhere, there’s a new threat exposed. Manhattan is enjoy a peaceful-ish evening - normal day. People are at home after a long day at work, walking their dogs, cleaning up, running errands. Groups of people are enjoying the nightlife, getting excited about yet another beautiful weekend. Till it all gets destroyed.
The attack happens slow at first - an army of masked super amped up soldiers, start scattering through. Airports, clubs, offices - public places where they can attack and serve their purpose in the best way. Then, they attack - all at once. Timed with precision. Everything is calm until 10:00 pm. Then, they move - killing everything they can possibly get their hands on. Innocent lives are taken.
Maria has a plan - she sends a carrier to help evacuate as many people as she can - she gives them thirty minutes, though. That’s all she can afford. She doesn’t like this plan, but its the only one she has. Thirty minutes later, the carrier leaves and her troops move in. Exits are blocked with her army, effectively closing off the city before she sends in the heroes to fight off the nightmare strolling through the streets. She’s aware that her option isn’t liked - it doesn’t matter. The soldiers have to be trapped, to be defeated.
She’d rather watch destroy a city if it means saving the country.
WTCB: MIDNIGHT: The City is starting to crumble, and the Carrier has been sent to the port. As many civilians as possible have been loaded and Maria is on the scene. A slow and small attack is now approaching the port - an army of near thirty super soldiers - coming to them. Maria deploys the character before the 30 minute time she was given, and it’s getting late. It’s nearing midnight, and there is no end in sight. The Carrier is on the move, and Max and Pepper are trying to get children onto the carrier as it moves because - well - children.
Help the City survive this attack from Hell.
Three months of constant fighting and still no Gabrielle, rumor had it she was in India with Xena. Ephiny didn’t know why Rome was traveling through her lands but she needed to stop them. They took her sisters as slaves, slaughter those who put up too much resistance. She did all she could to protect her home but the forces of Rome were a worthy opponent. They took turns beating each other back, but the Amazons had the home advantage. They used the woods against them, traps, vantage points and lucky. The Romans did much better in open space, not thick Amazon forests.
When the two advanced scouting teams did not return, Ephiny decided it was best if she led the next team into the woods. Many lay dead on the ground below, Romans and Amazons. The deeper in, the more uneasy she felt and that quickly turned into sorrow. She rushed over to the familiar body, lifting her mask before flipping the Amazon warrior over. “Solari,” Her first instinct was to lay over the body and weep but she could not show weakness. Being an Amazon Queen she needed to keep her people alive, she signaled her sisters to move forward; she would grieve the loss of her love later.
The Roman was high ranking, she could tell by his armor. His skill matched her own and it could have gone either way but he overpowered her. The sword knocked from her hand, she was left defenseless and it was over in seconds. She had no time to roll out of the way before the sword entered her chest; the pain only lasted a few seconds. She stared into his eyes as the world faded around her, his face the last she would ever see. Her death allowed the Amazons to find the strength to fend the men off, her death saved her sisters.
The land of the dead was a dark place, a place for those who would not see Eternity. Amazon’s who didn’t live as they should, undeserving of Eternity’s warmth. Ephiny had no need to walk along the barren wastelands but she did, she took her time and looked around at the forgotten sisters. This is where she would have ended if not for Xena and Gabrielle, they had set her on the right path.
The gods were gone and the afterlife was in chaos. The gate of Eternity had been broken and those doomed to walk the land of the dead could now freely enter. Not all lost souls were hostile but some held anger and bitterness for centuries, a spiritual war broke and good souls were lost. If not for the archangels, it would have been devastation. Damned souls were snatched from the land and given judgment, some cast into hell and others forgive and reincarnated into the next life. Ephiny did not understand it at first but it was explained to her by Archangel Michael.
“Are you ready?”
“Will I remember?”
“No, you will be born into a new body- a new name.” Ephiny didn’t want this new life, she didn’t want to forget all she had been. “You have doubts, fears?”
“I don’t want to forget who I was, what I was. I’m an Amazon and in this next life, I will remember nothing of that life. Is there another way?”
“Perhaps,” Ephiny sat as Michael left for a time, coming back much later and bestowed a gift upon her. “You have done much in your life, worthy of a second chance. God has given me permission to give life but times are different now, Ephiny, it will not be easy for you. The new world awaits you, perhaps someone will be there to guide you along the way?” Michael reached out and touched her forehead and within a second she felt her spirit release.
The cool air hit her lungs and she breathed for the first time in over a thousand years. When she opened her eyes she found herself on top of a hill, this hill overlooked a vast city- the kind of city she had never gazed upon before. Thousands upon thousands of tiny white fires burned bright, the new world. It didn’t take long for S.H.I.E.L.D to show up and take Ephiny into custody. She was a bit reluctant to go with strangers but one of the agents convinced her- Maria Hill. They took a ride in something called an SUV, it was a way of transportation and Ephiny did not like it.
Maria helped Ephiny settle into her new life, she had a lot to learn about this world and how the new system worked. Money was different but it was the same, you change paper money and coins for things you need. You also had something called Credit and Debit - bartering was also a dead art in most aspects of life. She picked things up quickly and found some things were easier to learn than others.
Not one for standing still long, Ephiny decided to take the academy training for S.H.I.E.L.D. This was some of the hardest training she had ever faced, but her past life prepared her for it. It wasn’t easy and she found that men hadn’t changed much since she was alive. Several men in her class taunted her and the other women, trying to break their spirits for one reason or another. She ignored them mostly and did her best to keep her fellow women’s spirits high. “Maybe they are right, maybe we don’t belong here?” When Ephiny heard that she quickly stood and face this young soldier.
“Hey, did you take the same exam? Did you run the same course? We are here because we deserve to be here and you deserve that shield a lot more than they do. This isn’t a man’s world anymore, it’s everyone’s world and you are just as good as Lloyd, Danson, and any of those other jerks. You remember that ” Ephiny found her new tribe and she would protect these women with her life.
In the end, they all passed and became Agents Of Shield.
After graduation, Ephiny wanted to thank the woman that made this all possible. Maria Hill, but she was nowhere to be found. Four days she had tried to get a hold of her but nothing- she was worried. Maria always returned her calls, she needed to find out what was going on.
“Agent Telaquire, I’m looking for Agent Hill- has anyone seen her?”
