*** Linda enters from Beach and Shore ***
"Heidi! Hey Heidi, wait up!" Linda called from down the beach as she jogged up to where Heidi was just about to enter her tent, "Hey," Linda huffed for a moment before she managed to catch her breath in the island heat, "I was wondering if you-hey, are you alright?" Linda asked Heidi as she noticed that Heidi seemed somewhat emotionally riled by something or someone, "Do I need to send Charlie to give anyone a licking?" Linda spoke rather concerned. Heidi was always pretty happy and outgoing, so it was a change for Linda to see her troubled.

I'd subtly taken in deep breaths and let them out slowly on my fast walk back to my shelter, which really helped push me back from the ledge of losing it. Just as I was ducking into my shelter, I heard my name being called.
'Crap,' I thought, keeping my back to the opening and quickly drying the dampness in the corner of my eyes with the sleeves of my t-shirt before turning toward Linda with a friendly grin. The approach of someone was sobering and really helped me to lock things back up. Evidence of tears might have been gone, but I could feel that my eyes were probably a little red and puffy, which I hoped she wouldn't notice.
"Hey," "I was wondering if you-hey, are you alright?" "Do I need to send Charlie to give anyone a licking?"
Damn. "No, no, I'm fine," I said, waving it off on a chuckle that was half self-conscious, half amused at the mental image of Charlie exaggeratingly putting up his dukes. "The topic of family and friends came up and it just kinda got to me," I said, grinning sheepishly as I fanned at my face to help alleviate the side effects of having gotten emotional and launched right into a topic change. A much easier feat to pull off as the reason Linda had approached hadn't been because she'd noticed something was wrong, but because she'd been wondering about something I was somehow connected to. "What's up?" I asked curiously.

"No, no, I'm fine," "The topic of family and friends came up and it just kinda got to me,"
Linda nodded understandingly, remaining silent for a moment as Heidi attempted to catch her barring. Although she had her brother here, Linda could relate to where Heidi was coming from. The triggers that lead to her sudden thoughts about Liam happened to spur emotional moments within herself at times. It was hard, and yet they all had remained as strong as they possibly could. Yet, one can only take so much before they implode.
"What's up?"
"Erm, oh right," Distracted by the sudden onset of emotion that began to slowly subside, Linda remembered exactly what it was she wanted to approach Heidi with, "Derek spoke of interest about the journal that we found in the jungle. Figured he could possibly decode it's contents. You still have it, right?" Linda asked, still being rather gentle with Heidi in her emotionally railed state.

"Erm, oh right," "Derek spoke of interest about the journal that we found in the jungle. Figured he could possibly decode it's contents. You still have it, right?"
I noticed Linda's calm and gentle demeanor and appreciated that she went to that length after catching me in a vulnerable state, but I was one of those people who bounced back quickly, which I proved by reverting right back to my usual smiley, happy self.
I thought I'd already exhausted any other potential candidates who'd be able to translate, but that had been based off the minimalist gathering of information based off people's current careers. Though I hadn't even thought to consider past careers or other aspects of someone's career, such as Gabe's, which had led him to travels that gained him the knowledge to translate a small handful of things, and at least recognize some of the other languages, even if he couldn't translate them.
"Oh yah, it's right here." I ducked over to the old satchel that I always put it back into and carefully freed the old bound pages. "I probably spend a few hours flipping through it every day. Not, like, obsessively or anything, just starved for something to pass the time," I said in playful self-defense. "It's really fascinating. I'd love to see what he could make of it," I added, politely fishing for an invite.
I held the journal out to her, brows furrowed in question. "Which one's Derek again? I'm really bad with names," I admitted guiltily. In truth, awful with names. By this point, I'd probably exchanged polite conversation with everyone at least once, but the name wasn't quite fitting with any of the faces my mind was conjuring as possibilities.

Linda nodded intently as she fully agreed with Heidi. On a deserted island, the journal was such a fascinating and intriguing find. Perhaps it belonged to others who had become stranded on the island. Or something else entirely. Linda also looked forward to hearing about what Derek would have to say about the journal, "You can come over if you like! I'm sure the Doctor wouldn't mind a bit of an audience," Linda chuckled as she invited Heidi to come back with her.
"Which one's Derek again? I'm really bad with names,"
"He's that one there beside Gabe," Linda extended her arm to point in the direction of Derek and Gabe, "The one sporting the glasses. For a Doctor, he actually has this devil-may-care air about him. Kind of a cool dude," Linda announced her observations as she turned back to Heidi, waiting for her to accept the invitation.

I followed Linda's extended arm to the person she was pointing out. Being bad with names and faces was a side effect of usually tucking myself away in my own little introverted world where I many times didn't take notice of the people around me. But there was usually a vague familiarity and the fact I was finding absolutely zero familiarity (and had no idea we had a new person in our ranks) left me perplexed.
Since Linda had invited me to join, she didn't make a move to take the journal from me, so I carefully wrapped an arm around it as I ran a finger under each eye just in case I'd missed any glinting that might have given evidence to my having gotten emotional. I did a small circular gesture at my face in a silent 'Am I good?'
With positive confirmation, we headed out of my shelter.
