Definite "Die Hard" vibes. And it seems like Clint has gotten to the "I'm too old for this s***" phase. I love it! So excited!!
I had to pause on the "Rogers: The Musical" clip. Singing and dancing Chitauri? WTF?!

I already love this show so much! I mean, you couldn't really go wrong with this cast and the Matt Fraction comics as a guideline. Also, I love that they're using that same graphic style for the intro and outro credits.
Starting with the Chitauri invasion of New York was interesting, seeing how scary it was for everyday people. Then transitioning to the song and dance version of the same thing in "Rogers: The Musical." Having Clint zone out when he saw the stage version of Natasha -- ow, my heart. I really, really hope he gets to go home to his family for Christmas. I know Val already nudged Yelena into killing him, but maybe she'll make a different call like Clint did for Nat.
Tracksuit Mafia: somehow scary and funny. Whose watch from the Avengers compound were they after? And did we know the Ronin sword was retractable? 'Cause that is badass.
Lucky the Pizza Dog is awesome!
Jeremy Renner LARPing is one of the funniest things I've ever seen!
With her money and her tech savvy, I can already see Kate Bishop as the Stark-like leader of the next Avengers. I always thought Kate was so cool in the comics, and Hailee Steinfeld is giving me the same vibe. And I appreciate that she's not easily winning these fights with men that are more than twice her size.

It was so great! Thank you so much for posting the YouTube vids! Saves me from having to search them out. I'll be watching those after I write this cuz I'll be rewatching the eps with my mom when she gets here later today. Yes, they are not only hella fast in posting them, but they are AMAZINGLY thorough with what they find and the info they provide! I agree! Tracksuit Mafia is scary and funny! They stoopid, too. XD I had no idea the Ronin blade was retractable! Also amazing that the jacket happened to fit Kate Bishop perfectly. Movie magic. Omg, the LARPing. XD Clint had this, 'please stab me for real and put me out of my misery' look on his face the whole time. XD Kate's great so far! The dog is cute. As for the watch, I'm thinking it's gotta be Tony Stark's. Gotta have some kind of Stark tech or even nanobots that build the suit. I'm thinking the watch will be a sort of bridge that will help lead into the upcoming Armor Wars show. Maybe even to the upcoming Ironheart show, if it falls into Riri Williams' hands; the young, smart girl who makes her own Iron super suits.

Easter Eggs for Episode 3!!

Wow, so much to love about this episode, I don't even know where to start! I think Echo (or Maya?) as a character is already pretty intriguing. Certainly can't blame her for hating Ronin. But, as that Screencrush video pointed out, do we even know that was Clint in the Ronin suit that killed her dad? After all, Kingpin made Bullseye dress up as Daredevil to frame him. And Kingpin is totally Maya's "uncle," right? The whole fight in the old KB Toys store and the car chase that followed were so brilliant! I felt like I was holding my breath the whole time, and was genuinely worried for Hailee Steinfeld and her stunt double. And OMG, Pym Tech arrows! I do love the reluctant mentor dynamic between Clint and Kate in the comics, and I think they've done a great job of translating that to the screen. Jeremy Renner just...wow. He can go from an action sequence to breaking your heart on a phone call to his son. And Kate seemed to feel real remorse for taking him away from his family, as she should if we're being honest.

So good! I'm loving this series so far! And those ScreenCrush vids are just brilliant.
The episode was so much fun, the action scenes so great, and that phone call with Kate helping... that was so heartbreaking. They did a great job of using sound to portray how things sound to Clint. It really hits you even harder in the heart when you see him struggle to talk on the phone to his son.
I do really like Echo! It's good that we both find her intriguing. Good sign for her stand-alone series she's getting! Omg, and the flashback. Not only is she deaf, but the poor little girl had somehow lost a leg. I wonder if we're gonna get that backstory on that in this series or if we have to wait until her own series. Either way, that little girl grew up tough and very capable. She kicks ass and has the amazing skill of picking right up on someone's habits and manner of fighting to use it against them practically immediately.
Her "uncle" SO better be Kingpin and so better be portrayed by Vincent D'Onofrio!! This dude on a podcast I listen to said he's weirdly really good with recognizing hands and said confidently that that was Vincent's hands. Well, we'll see. I find it hard to believe he'd show up for a day of filming just to put a hand on a little girl's shoulder. They could have a stand-in do that. Either way, I so hope it'll end up being him. I love the Netflix Daredevil series and so want that world to be more ingrained into the MCU. On a side note, I heard rumors of that Matt Murdock being in the upcoming Spidey and I'm so hoping that's true also!
GAH! I love seeing anything Pym make an appearance! I love seeing the dynamic of the heroes working together, even if they're not there when something they made is being used. Pym Tech and Particles would be really useful in so many situations.
I agree that Kate looked really remorseful during that phone call. On one hand, she didn't get into all this with the intent of dragging Clint into it with her. That wasn't her intent when putting on the Ronin suit. But the fact that she won't listen to him when he tells her to stay put is what drags them in deeper. Again though, Clint didn't communicate his plan with her. If he had, she'd have known he was doing the Catch and Release move and wouldn't have gone to "save" him. But then again, if she hadn't had put a track on him.... Lol, there's so many back and forths on this but it always comes down to lack of communication. Seems to be a big issue that causes a lot of plots for a lot of movies and shows and books, in real life...

Easter Eggs for Episode 4! Are there really only two episodes left?! It's gone by way too fast!

Yes, so bummed it's only 6 eps! Feels like they're nowhere near wrapping things up!
Episode 4 was so good! The writers are so evil, constantly making us relive traumatic events. Nat. Clint's family Blipping away. Man, poor Clint. The pain in his eyes.
Yay! Yelena is finally here! I was wondering when she was gonna show up.
Okay, so whose watch is that?? I was thinking Tony's but it's seeming not?
And what's up with Clint's wife? There's definitely more to her than we realized. I was thinking she used to be an agent and it seems ScreenCrush is thinking the same.

Yeah, the watch being tied to Clint's wife, and her being a former agent (maybe not of SHIELD but another agency since she was speaking German) seems a pretty solid theory to me. I'm racking my brain trying to think who else would be a "friend" of Clint's that is still undercover. I guess they could make Laura Mockingbird 2.0 since we already had Bobbi Morse in Agents of SHIELD. But I kinda' hope they don't do that. I hate that I was spoiled on Yelena's appearance, but serves me right for going on social media before I'd watched the episode. I wonder how many people watched the after-credits sequence to Black Widow, or if they'll need the same sort of explanation that Clint now does. As well as he knew Nat, I doubt she talked about her sister much. And if she only wanted Clint dead, she had plenty of chances on that rooftop so I'm curious to know her real purpose. Oh my goodness, so happy to see the LARPers again! I love that Kate was so enthusiastic about working with them on their costumes. I just love Kate! She could have easily been portrayed as another rich spoiled brat but Hailee Steinfeld is doing an excellent job of making her overconfident but compassionate, skilled but undisciplined. The glee on her face when she told the guy in the elevator that she had an Avenger in her ear -- LMAO! Definitely not chill. The whole impromptu Christmas party was so sweet. I hate that Clint had to give Kate the "Lassie, go home!" treatment at the end but I get that he's trying to keep her safe and doesn't want to lose her like he did Nat.

She is SO not chill! š. I do like her positive, peppy attitude, but I do sometimes find myself chiding her for not listening and causing more problems! But itās all in the goodness of her heart, wanting to help. In her defense, if Clint would have told her his plan instead of trying to get her out of the picture, she probably would have stayed put.
Iām also really hoping that Laura is not Mockingbird. I donāt like the back and forth on whether Agents of SHIELD is canon or not. I want it to be canon so I especially donāt want them to do that. Not unless they make a clear explanation that āMockingbirdā is a sort of code name that gets passed on.

Random thoughts after watching the episode a second time.... I love Yelena so much! She's so fun and chaotic, but also deadly serious (and I guess deadly and serious). The whole conversation between her and Kate over mac & cheese was brilliant, with Kate so sure of Clint's goodness and Yelena sharing a more realistic view of the way the world works. Reminiscent of the whole argument over the Sokovia Accords and dealing with the "collateral damage" that the so-called heroes leave in their wake. I don't know if this could lead to New Avengers or Thunderbolts, but I'd love to see more of these two together. Especially if Zemo were allowed to join the team. Interesting to see the Blip from Yelena's perspective, how quickly it happened for those who disappeared and meanwhile five years had passed. What must it have been like for Bucky, Sam, T'Challa, Wanda, etc. to all pop back into that Wakandan forest and not know what the heck was going on? Pretty heartbreaking, though, when Yelena said she needed to find Natasha and tell her she was okay. So Kazi was the one who betrayed Maya's father; I think that's pretty clear. Will we find out why? I'm wondering how much more we'll see of her story, or if they'll hold onto exploring those things further when she gets her own "Echo" series. I think I confused myself with the ending reveal, though. Was Yelena saying that Kate's mother hired her to kill Clint? Or was it Wilson Fisk via Val? I'm gonna' need clarification on that. But, still... OMG, Kingpin being played by Vincent D'Onofrio, thus linking the Netflix MCU series with these new ones!!

This show is so good! I can't believe they're gonna be able to wrap this all up in just ONE episode!
Agreed on Yelena. The other thing I love about her is that she's deadpan hilarious! I'm really loving this other angles we're seeing of the Blip via D+ Marvel shows. Seeing Monica come back and the chaos of everyone else coming back was so neat. But this one, with Yelena dusting then coming back a second later with the room changing around her was freakin' amazing!
Agreed, that's gotta be insanely jarring. You pop back in and don't even know that you'd even popped out of existence at all. Five years, just gone in a snap (sorry, too soon/trigger word). She lost any chance of seeing Nat again. Oh man, I just realized the same thing happened to Monica. She was at her mother's bedside, asking where her mom is, thinking the surgery went well, but her mom had ended up passing away during those five years. Her poor mom, just getting free of cancer, then her daughter is taken from her and the cancer ends up coming back... but this time she doesn't have the support of her daughter....
Dammit, these writers are mean! XD
According to all the helpful info in the ScreenCrush vids, I'm seeing Young Avengers mentions far more than Thunderbolts. Apparently, we've seen a ton of the people who make up the Young Avengers already.
I see Yelena's point about the collateral damage, but I still think that Valentina manipulated her by painting a far worse picture of Clint and what actually happened with Nat. I mean, Clint did want to be the one to be sacrificed. They fought hard to be the one who would give their life on Vormir. In the end, Nat one-uped Clint. It's not like he threw her off the cliff like Thanos did to Gamora.
Clint was absolutely crushed and heartbroken. It still is a major source of pain and regret to him. I'm thinking Yelena will see his side and see how tortured he is by the ordeal and that's what will get her on Clint's side.
That ending wasn't very clear. It was her mom and also Kingpin in that pic. Yelena only said something like, "this is who hired me" but didn't specify which person. Could have been both working together. But also, Val approaching Yelena in the Black Widow stinger made it look like it was Val who manipulated Yelena to go after Clint and not even as a job. Just providing the information to fuel Yelena's need for revenge. I'm sure we'll find out in the next episode.
I'm thinking we won't get too much more resolution or backstory for Echo. There's so much to resolve with Clint, Kate, and Yelena. All that is probably going to be saved for Echo's own show.
Yes! I'm SO happy to see Vincent back as Kingpin! I loved the NF Marvel shows so it makes me so happy to have them acknowledged as still being a part of the MCU! It was making me so sad and actually mad when there were whispers that Feige or whoever were saying they weren't.

Post by Kristi Lynne on Dec 23, 2021 18:20:44 GMT -8
After watching the finale, I still declare this as my favorite Marvel series. It had action and humor and a surprising amount of heart. I loved every scene with Clint and Kate, and I loved every scene with Kate and Yelena, and that final confrontation between Yelena and Clint was definitely tugging at the heartstrings. In a lot of ways, this was a fitting eulogy for Natasha, even if that wasn't the main intention. And I think it was a really good intro for Maya, aka Echo, and made me look forward to her series as well. The Good: Clint telling Kate that she is his partner. Trick Arrows 101 (even another Pym arrow!). Jack turning out to be a good guy who's handy with a sword. Yelena and Kate annoying and fighting and complimenting each other. The owl in the Rockefeller Center tree. The LARPers getting to break out their new costumes. The choreography, music, and editing of the fight sequence on the ice rink. Clint knowing the secret whistle between Nat and Yelena, and having the chance to tell her the truth about how she died. Everyone enjoying Christmas at the Barton Farm. Oh, and Jeremy Renner in a tux, just to be totally superficial. The Bad: So Eleanor Bishop killed Armand because of that one time he threatened to expose her? Seems a little extreme. And just killing him with a sword, any sword, was enough to frame Jack for the murder? She couldn't know at that point that he had the Ronin sword from the auction. Why was Kingpin so interested in the watch retrieved from the Avengers compound? And the number of Tracksuits that just kept coming in their attack on 30 Rock was a bit ridiculous. The Meh: Guess we were right that Clint's wife used to be a SHIELD agent, but I still don't consider her as Bobbi "Mockingbird" Morse. It felt like Kingpin was shoehorned in as the Big Bad. I'm not sure how else they could have handled it, but I don't feel like the viewer really got a sense of how much of a threat Kingpin can be if they hadn't already watched Daredevil. And of course he's not dead -- what else would be the point of an off-camera gunshot? Kazi's motivation is still vague to me (he's jealous of Maya?), but maybe that will be explored more in her series. But overall, really not much to complain about. I loved that they included the full version of the song from "Rogers: The Musical." As someone said on Twitter, it would have been even better if they had cut to Bucky and Sam in the audience. Their reactions would be hilarious!

Binged all six episodes last night. Loved this show! Great set up for Kate Bishop to enter the franchise and Hailee did an amazing job playing her!! Hopeful to see Kate and Yelena team up in the future, they have great scene chemistry and Yelena is definitely a scene stealer!

Really loved the show! It was fun, as I was expecting, but I didn't expect so much heart!
Yelena and Kate scenes, love them! I like that they genuinely like each other even though they're fighting and tossing each other about, lol! I think this might be my second favorite. It's hard to place. I really loved WandaVision.
The scene with Yelena and Clint was so moving. Once he did the secret whistle, from then on, I was choked up. So much pain just coming off of both of them. They did such a wonderful job acting that scene.
I'm definitely interested in learning more about Maya/Echo, but they didn't go well enough into her in this show for me to be bouncing impatiently in my seat for her show. Definitely looking forward to it, as I do with anything MCU, but not that full blown geeking out like I do for the movies with characters I've already gotten to know and love.
Yes! All the trick arrows were so neat! Very imaginative and clever and I'm absolutely thrilled that we got TWO Pym appearances!
Jack turning out to be a good guy, I didn't see that coming. He was always so shifty, almost like he was purposefully taunting Kate with the fact that he was up to no good. I think there's more to him than we know. I wonder if he'll pop up somewhere else in the MCU. He was definitely a more prominent character in the comics.
The whole Rockefeller scene was so great! Agreed though, that it was weird how many guys kept showing up. My mom commented on that, wondering how many freakin' men they have. I just shrugged it off and was like, it's the mafia. I guess they have a crap ton of goons and decided to call them ALL in.
The whole thing with the watch was anticlimactic. It totally should have been one of Tony's. It totally could have been a great set up for the upcoming "Armor Wars" show and maybe even have a connection to the upcoming "Ironheart" show. No idea why Kingpin would want it unless there's more to it than simply being a watch.
Yah, I'm also not liking that she's Mockingbird. In my mind, "Mockingbird" is a moniker like "Hawkeye" where it gets passed to another. I refuse to not consider "Agents of SHIELD' as canon.
I like Kingpin and am so glad they used him. Not only does it solidify the Netflix shows as canon, but he was a great villain. I can see what you mean though about people who haven't watched "Daredevil" not understanding the extent of how dangerous Kingpin is. But they did a great job showing his sheer power of strength, the way he tossed Kate around like a ragdoll, and that seething, below-the-surface rage at her defiance that hinted at how dangerous he was.
I totally don't think he's dead either. I think either Maya shot him in the chest and he doesn't die (known to wear Kevlar vest, but shouldn't she know that?) or she shot off to the side, unable to kill the man that she's thought of as a father, even though said man killed her actual father. I think Kingpin was here not just as the villain pulling the strings from behind a curtain and showing up at the end as the last villain battle for Kate, but also, I think they're setting him up for Maya's "Echo" show.
Omg, I loved that they included the whole song from the musical as well! What a horribly tasteless idea for a show! Making musical light of an event that was traumatizing for so many, lol! Definitely in poor taste, which is one of the reasons it made me laugh so much. Well, cringe-laugh in disbelief that some writer or producer or whatever somewhere in this MCU world was like, 'Everyone loves those Avengers. Let's cash in on them. What do you think? Battle of New York?' Haha! I'd love to see Bucky and Sam's reactions!
