Jungle OutskirtsJungle outskirts near the fuselage where some things from the plane may have landed.Location found in box G4 below: Each box is 3 miles by 3 miles. It takes an hour to walk 3 miles. But also keep in mind that hiking (like that really steep hill to get to higher ground) will take a heck of a lot longer and that if you're running (like from some jungle thing), that you'll get somewhere faster.

Day 2
Clouds form and move in over the island. The sound of
thunder grows louder and it suddenly begins pouring heavy rain.
People everywhere are running for cover.

Suddenly, the trees near the beach start to move as if
something is working it's way along the treeline. It's the
same thing that was making the loud noises and knocking
down trees last night only this time, it is eerily silent.

The heavy rain and thunder stops just as abruptly as it had
begun. The clouds part and the warm sunshine has returned.

***Gwen enters from F3 - Area of Survivor's Camp***
She had taken another large piece of plastic and dragged it along the beach behind her. Knowing she didn't have the upper body strength to carry many pieces of firewood, she'd just load the branches onto the sheet and drag it back to the camp. A bit like gathering kindling for the wintry fireplace of the English estate she'd called home, in what seemed like a lifetime ago. Only this place was hot and sunny and they'd used her brother's red wooden sled for transport, so completely unlike that at all.
She took a few hesitant steps into the treeline and beyond. It was the best place to find fallen branches, but also the best place to run into whatever was making all that noise and knocking down trees the night before. But the sooner she got it done, the sooner she'd be back onto the relative safety of the beach. If that was safe.

***MiB as Hank Willard enters***
The great tragedy of Hank Willard was just how close he was to the crash site when he awoke. Only a few metres, really, but the thick tree trunks obscured his vision and in any case he was too disorientated to know what the hell was happening. His thoughts had become scrambled and incoherent, his entire body somehow removed from the situation. When Hank Willard stumbled further and further into the jungle, he was not using his best judgement.
He only fully regained his best judgement late at night, when the cold breeze and the ache of hunger drove away his confusion. But then the Man in Black found him. And read him. And ripped him in half. And cast each half in opposite directions.
That was the great tragedy of Hank Willard, unmarried, dead father, proud mother, pet cat at home, nice single mother for a neighbour. He had been so close, and then he had died in the cold dark of the jungle. And he would never know why.
The Man in Black enclosed his darkness into the shape of Hank Willard in the outskirts of the jungle. He stumbled forward, mimicking every single mannerism of the dead Hank Willard. When you became someone, you knew them, and they became a part of you in turn.
Hank knew Gwendolyn Havers. He’d flown with her before. She was counted as a friend…like the Seth Norris.
Bleeding false blood from a shallow arm wound, Hank-in-Black broke through the trees. “Gwen? Gwen?” he asked, his voice dazed and shaky. With that, he collapsed to his knees.

So focused on gathering branches, she was hardly aware of another presence nearby until she heard her name. She looked up to see a man walking slowly towards her, another member of the flight crew obviously injured and weak. "Hank? Oh my God, you're alive?!"
She dropped the branches and rushed to his side, taking a closer look at the blood and its source. "And you're hurt. There's a doctor back at camp, he can take a look at you," she advised. "Have you been out here by yourself all this time?"

He gripped her by the shoulders, glancing up and down to see if she was injured. "I'm fine, I'm fine, it's just a gash, I....I've been wandering out in the jungle. The...the noises..." Hank-in-Black tightened his eyes shut as if trying to banish dark memories. He re-opened them with a lengthy exhale. "My God, Gwen. I'm so glad to see you're alive....other people made it...? What about...did...the Captain? Michelle? Cindy? JD?"

She shook her head slowly in response. "It seems like the plane broke into three sections. Some people hiked inland to the cockpit earlier. They didn't find anyone," she said. "But there are about forty people from the midsection of the plane. Minor injuries here and there, nothing serious. Odd when you consider how serious the crash was. One of those catastrophic failures that they assure us will never happen."

Hank-in-Black nodded slowly. "Forty...wow, okay...okay, uh..." He sat down in the mixture of sand and fallen leaves. "There was nothing wrong with the plane, Gwen. You know the standards we have, and when I went through my checklist everything was working perfectly. I didn't miss anything." He was quiet for a moment, staring out into the distance. "How are you holding up?"

"Oh, come on, Hank. I refuse to let you blame yourself for any of this," she stated, sitting beside him and laying a hand on his shoulder. "Bad things happen. The important thing is we're alive and we'll get through this."
"How are you holding up?"
"I'm fine," she assured him. "You know, considering. I've tried to focus on doing what I can for everyone else and staying busy. Food, water, shelter from sudden monsoons. I'm just sorry you've been alone all this time. It must have been terrifying."
She chanced a glance around to make sure it was still quiet. "They found the transceiver and were able to fix it. A group is hiking to higher ground to see if they can send a signal," she informed him. "We both know rescue could take a lot longer if they don't."

"Good, good, keep busy," he said, nodding. "You've always been good at that, Gwen. Helping people. Getting organised."
"They found the transceiver and were able to fix it. A group is hiking to higher ground to see if they can send a signal, We both know rescue could take a lot longer if they don't."
"Higher ground? In the jungle?" asked Hank-in-Black. "Gwen, I almost saw...and I heard...something in there. Something big." Something well-read and handsome.

"I know. We could see and hear it from the beach," she said. "But you were smart enough to keep your distance and I'm sure they will, too."
She got to her feet, brushing off the leaves and sand. "Look, I should get you back to the doctor, make sure you're really okay. At the very least, get you some water and a place to rest," she suggested.

"Yeah," he said, nodding. "I think you're right. They'll be fine."
"Look, I should get you back to the doctor, make sure you're really okay. At the very least, get you some water and a place to rest,"
Hank-in-Black shook his head. "I don't need the doctor. I just...let's just get back, okay?" he asked. Certain elements of Hank Willard were already beginning to bubble up. When you lived as someone, you began to merge with them. Especially after a long time pretending.
The Man in Black wore many masks. Some of them began to eat into the face.

"Right, up you go," she said as she helped him to his feet, hooking her arm through his elbow to keep him steady as they began walking. "And I hope you like mango. That's about all I can offer you for dinner service."

Some people are becoming

Stu 'Smiley' Miley
*Stu arrives from the beach*
Stu marched towards the jungle outskirts where he found a small tree and rested his hand on it before punching the tree. "It will do..." Stu continued to punch the tree over and over again, left, right, left, right till the skin on his knuckles broke and blood worked its way into the tree. "Why. Do. I. Care."

HEIDI
Feeling a little shaky walking into the jungle, I kept myself distracted with thoughts of reassurances. Nothing's gonna happen. Everything's gonna be okay. Just stay close to the beach. If that thing shows up, I'll just run like hell...
Hearing something ahead, I froze and listened, letting out a sigh of relief when I heard a voice. Good, someone else was out here. That made me feel safer.
"Hello?" I called out to announce my approach. "Oh, hey, Stu," I said as I stepped into the clearing. I felt kind of awkward since our last interaction had left things on not so great terms. Lingering back and tried to offer a sort of olive branch. "So, um, glad you made it out of the water okay."

Stu continued to hit the tree ignoring the pain the blood making its way from his knuckles. Stu's focus was on each punch he only began to slow down and stop hitting when he heard a voice. "So, um, glad you made it out of the water okay." Stu rested his fore arm against the tree before resting his head against his fore arm avoiding making eye contact with the familiar voice. "You don't think the wrong person made it out of the water?" Stu sighed before adding quietly "I do..."

"No," I said, taken aback. "There is no wrong or right person. Nobody should have been lost out there. That's a horrible way for anybody to die. You should be glad to have made it out alive and if you're going to be throwing a pity party, it should be in honor of that poor girl, Joanna. Not yourself."
Okay, so maybe I was being a bit harsh. "Look, I'm sorry. I'm really bad at dealing with people being down on themselves. I don't want to encourage that kind of self-bullying and frankly, I don't have the patience for it," I said with a matter of fact shrug. "Whatever I say basically sums up to either 'suck it up, stop dwelling on the negative and concentrate on the positive, only you can change something about yourself you don't like.'" I ticked each one off as I listed it. "But everyone's entitled to deal with their problems their own way. Just wanted to give you fair warning so if you want me to continue on my way..."

Stu let out a slight laugh as he turned around to face Heidi before giving her a sad smile "Pity party..." Stu then looked down at his hand and the blood that was over his knuckles "That's why I'm here, I find fighting therapeutic doesn't matter what I'm fighting as long as I'm fighting. Helps clear my thoughts. I only went in after her as I saw you and just kinda acted. I'm no hero Heidi, I had no idea what I was thinking or doing." Stu slowly walked towards Heidi "The reason I was in Australia was to fight... it didn't... it was him or me and I'm not sure he's... I just left while everyone circled around him and I collected my money and got the hell out of dodge so to speak. Wasn't the first time either but the point is I never thought about any of that till I got stuck here and failed to save her." Stu refused to say her name and began to fight back tears "Look normally shit goes down and I can just medicate with booze, drugs and woman but what do I do with life." Stu had never really admitted to himself let alone someone else that he had spent his whole life running away from himself and life.

I shook my head sadly. "I really am sorry for all you've been through but I have a hard time feeling sympathy. All those things that you've done, how you deal with them emotionally, are all choices that you made. There are people who have bad things happen to them without their control. Those are the people who deserve sympathy."
I sighed sadly as I looked at his bloodied knuckles. "You really need to find a better way than this," I said, gesturing to his hands. "We're running low on medical supplies and you've intentionally hurt yourself."

The corners of my lips quirked up in amusement. "Tea and cake? I think that's only normal if you're a Jane Austen character," I said as I stepped closer to get a better look at the damage. "Looks like you have a few splinters. It'll be easier to assess the damage once we've cleaned it up a little," I added as I removed my backpack from my shoulders and dug out my bottle of water.
I removed the cap and looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to hold his hands out.

"Workout video?" I paused in confusion and then chuckled. "I think you're thinking of Jane Fonda. Jane Austen was a writer. You know, 'Pride & Prejudice'... 'Sense and Sensibility'..." I poured a little water over the knuckles of both his hands, pausing to gauge if it was causing him pain.
