4 stars from me!
Phew, this one wasn't as chock full as the previous, so hopefully this'll be a lot shorter.
We got to see Dr. Chang in the flash forward giving Hugo the award! Speaking of, Hugo seems to have nothing but good luck here whereas in the original timeline, everyone around him was dying or suffering.
It was so great to see Libby again! And their story was so touching in the flash sideways. I'm so glad he gave her a chance and didn't brush her off as crazy. Thanks to Des' little push for Hurley to go and see her. I love what Des is doing! I think that Hurley was easily swayed and already wanting to believe cuz, like Penny with Des, Hurley felt the connection they have in the other realm. Don't know if you remember, but Dr. Brooks, Libby's doctor, was also Hurley's in the original timeline.
Awwwww, Hurley and Libby finally got to have that date on the beach that they were robbed of on the island! And Hurley didn't forget blankets this time. It was so sweet how her kissing him "woke him up" to the other realm. Yay! Hurley deserves so much happiness!
Back on the island, holy crap, we got to see Michael again! And that must have been so hard for Hurley. The person who shows up to help is the only person he hates, having murdered Libby. Lol, freakin' Ilana. I KNEW she was going to explode. I was just waiting for it. She wasn't carefully moving that satchel around. Then she just drops her big ass water bottle inside and I was surprised it didn't explode yet so I'm still on pins and needles and then she just drops the bag on the ground and KABOOM! I mean, duh. I guess the island was done with her!
Holy crap, I can't believe MIB threw Des down that well. I mean, I can totally see him doing something like that but it's crazy that the writers would do that to Des! MIB did NOT like that Des didn't fear him. That's how he controls people, with fear. If they don't fear him, they're a threat. So down the well he went. I'm not too concerned cuz this is Des we're talking about. Not only that, it seems they're just starting something really important with him in connection to the island.
Back in flash sideways land, we saw that Connect Four game again at the psychiatric ward, only it wasn't Leonard playing it. Some other random dude. That makes sense. If the island is at the bottom of the ocean, then that means there wasn't a signal for Leonard to pick up the numbers from, use them, and then lose his mind over all the bad luck he goes through. Which means Hurley got his riches not from winning the lotto, but by investing in Mr. Cluck's and expanding the franchise, it seems.
Holy crap, that ending. Des hitting Locke with the car. I'm not sure if it's cuz he's really pissed at him for all MIB in his body put him through or if it's what he things would be Locke's trigger. I mean, I'm sure there's a little bit of anger. Even when Locke was Locke, he messed stuff up, stopping everyone from pushing the button, getting Boone killed, and just all kinds of stuff in the name of doing what he thought the island wanted. I kinda don't think he did it as a way to stop MIB because with the island at the bottom of the ocean, there is no MIB in this realm. I mean, unless he and Jacob found a way off the island, but I doubt it. It just seems that all that mystical stuff with the island never happened in the flash sideways.
I think this was mostly meant as a trigger. With Des, Charlie had to recreate the jarring moment of Charlie using the last of his life to warn about Penny's boat. With Hurley, it was always about finding love. With Locke, it was what he went through with his father and I think this is act of running him down and causing him to take a really bad fall was the closest he could reenact Locke being thrown out the window by his father. This will hopefully "wake up" Locke or start him on the road to it and this will probably also land Locke back in the care of Jack, which might help "wake" him up, his thing being fixing people.
Favorite quotes/moments:
(After Ilana explodes herself with dynamite) BEN: Now what? RICHARD: We get more dynamite. Or else she died for nothing. JACK: Maybe she died to show us to stay the hell away from dynamite.

I really love this episode so I gave it four stars. I absolutely loved seeing more of Hurley and Libby. Way back when Libby was alive, we didn't see much of her but the connection her and Hurley had was very strong and they stole every scene they were in. So I loved this entire flash sideways episode about them, and then Hurley waking up to Libby at the picnic on the beach truly brought me to tears yet again. You are so right Heidi when you say Hurley deserves so much happiness, I truly felt that in this episode as well!

Hopping on the 4-star train, lol.
It warmed my heart to see Libby again! And their date at the beach, omg! So cute. So sad, by looking at the actual timeline where she's dead, though. :-(
Omg, someone exploded again! XD I shouldn't point this out as funny, but the way it happened reminded me of Arzt. XD
The ending, with Desmond hitting Locke with the car! Omg! I think it was only to trigger the awakening, though, but who knows.
