Sarah
"Holy crap, you use all that stuff to make sandcastles? And here I thought it was just shovels and buckets. Speaking of buckets...I think this was from one of the drink carts. Probably for ice. Now it's for hauling water back and forth," Sarah chuckled and and accepted the white bucket and nodded. "Well this is Martha, but we don't have to go through all her steps. Now we should start by finding a flat surface, or make a flat surface. than we'll make the outline of where the castle will start," she smirked. "We won't make a huge one, just a nice small one to get you started."

Amber Wellington
---Amber arrives from the Survivor camp---
Amber had walked around looking fro things to photograph but she found that nothing caught her eye, she had either photographed it already or it wasn't remarkable enough. Amber then decided to wonder along the beach, amber removed her chucks and walked the beach in bare feet, the sand getting between her toes and the soft sound of waves lapping against the beach relaxed her. Amber noticed that Heidi and Sarah were sitting down making sand castles and that brought a smile to Amber's face, it reminded her of the times she went to the beach with her family, a simpler time. Amber walked towards the girls before shouting out "Hey gals!" before drawing closer to them. As she approached and was close enough Amber asked the pair "Would you guys mind if I..." Amber trailed off while raising her camera.

"Thank goodness for that! I was getting a little overwhelmed. We'll start small and build our way up and eventually maybe even make one big enough to live in," I said with a playful smile.
My smile faltered slightly as my last comment made me realized somewhere in my subconscious, I'd resigned to the fact we were not going to be rescued, at least not anytime soon. But I refused to be in agreement with my subconscious on that note so I pushed the thought back to the part of my mind where I kept things bottled up until the bottle overflowed into a breakdown and with everything that had happened these last few days, I was afraid that might be soon.
"Would you guys mind if I..."
"Hey Amber! Um, sure," I leaned toward Sarah and smiled, grateful for the distraction that pulled me away from my thoughts.

Amber snapped a couple of pictures as Heidi and Sarah begun working on sand castles before sitting down next to Heidi. "So how are you coping with all of this?" Amber asked Heidi Amber brought her knees up to her chest and lightly hugged them while looking out over the sea and digging her toes into the sand.

Sarah
"Thank goodness for that! I was getting a little overwhelmed. We'll start small and build our way up and eventually maybe even make one big enough to live in," Sarah hoped they wouldn't be here that long, but she brushed off the comment and decided not to react on it. She was about to make a comment about getting started when someone came walking over.
"Hey gals! Would you guys mind if I..." Sarah smiled when she saw the camera and let herself be moved closer to Heidi. After she took a few pictures, Sarah made an outline of the sandcastle and nodded. "So how are you coping with all of this?" Sarah wasn't sure if she was being talked to, or Heidi, so she just kept making the outline as the grown-ups talked.

"So how are you coping with all of this?"
"Denial," I said jokingly, though I was only half joking. "I just try not to think of it or just concentrate on the fact that this is only temporary and rescue will be here soon," I said with a small shrug. I spared a glance at Amber before returning my attention to what Sarah was doing. "How are you holding up?"

"How are you holding up?"
Amber let her smile shine as she could tell by Heidi's voice she wasn't as confident about being rescued as she seemed. "Well who hasn't wanted their own semi private romantic tropical island? I mean what better excuse to work on your tan or find love." Amber said the last part cheekily while nudging Heidi. In truth she missed her family and friends and did have a desire to get off the Island despite how picturesque it was. "Ya know what I would kill for right now? A nice tall chocolate milkshake with loads of whipped cream and a cherry on top!"

"Mm, chocolate. My ultimate weakness!" Using the flat side of a piece of shrapnel, I smoothed the surface of the sand as I contemplated what I would do when I got home. "I think when I get home, I'll stay in, surround myself with friends and family and just have some pizzas delivered. I really miss them. And pizza," I added with a grin. "Plus it'd be so much easier to have to tell this whole crash story one time, so that's an added bonus."

I'm coming to stay with you!" Amber said with a laugh. Amber took her t-shirt off before laying back in the sun wearing a bikini top. "Sorry my Father owns a bunch of companies in California." Her father would take advantage of her misfortune to make more money? Well, that sucks. Then again, people with the kind of money that went along with owning a bunch of companies usually only saw value in currency rather than in the people around them.
"You're more than welcome to come on over for a visit until things calm down, especially if you need an escape," I said with a reassuring smile. "We have a guest bedroom."
"Pizza sounds good too, and family!" "I miss my dad and my mum, they didn't even want to sent me away. But i had to go see my gran,"
"Aw, it's okay, hun." I scooted next to Sarah and put an arm around her shoulders, giving her a reassuring hug. "You'll be back with your family before you know it and we'll all look back at this as a kind of adventure."

Heidi gave Sarah a reassuring hug as she spoke to her, Heidi was clearly one of the nicest people on the Island and possibly one of the nicest Amber had ever met. "Some adventure, we haven't even found any treasure, mermaids or pirate's that go "Arrrr matey!"" Amber said trying her best to sound like a pirate as she said the last part.

I laughed. "What I wouldn't give to see Cap'n Jack Sparrow come running out of that jungle, flailing his arms and yelling incoherently. He'd definitely be an entertaining addition." After a thoughtful pause, I added, "You know, treasure hunting would be fun. If only we had a map or a metal detector." I looked over at Sarah and grinned. "You didn't by any chance pack a metal detector, did ya?" I asked with a playful nudge.

Amber couldn't help but laugh at the thought of being stuck on an Island with Jack Sparrow. "He could always rope us some sea turtles as a personal ferry."
"You know, treasure hunting would be fun. If only we had a map or a metal detector."
"How fun would that be? When we get off this Island people will ask us what we did and we can confidently look at them and declare "We went looking for treasure!"" Amber again said the last part in her best pirate accent.

"That'd be a great segue from all the disaster recapping people will be asking us for. 'Course it'll segue right back to the 'What's it like to crash?' and 'What's it like living on a deserted island wondering if rescue will come?' questions when they hear we didn't actually find treasure," I added with a sigh.
'When will rescue get here?' I wondered with a quick glance out to sea.

Sarah had kind of gone off in her own little world, she kind of forgot she was in a conversation. she stared off at the waves, her eyes filled with tears and she just blinked and let them slide down her face. she wanted to go home, she wanted to see her mum and dad. she wanted to do everything she was suppose to be doing, but now she was stuck here and they might never get home. she curled up against Heidi and sighed.

Sarah leaned against me, pulling me out of my thoughts. I smoothed her hair off her face and felt her tears. "Are you okay, sweetie? Do you want to go back to your tent and rest for a bit?"
I knew it wasn't rest she needed but in a situation where someone was feeling vulnerable, it was usually better to get them out of such a public place. Trying to address the real issue usually pushed a person into really losing it and making a scene and I didn't want her to end up feeling embarrassed later.

KATE
Kate sat in companionable silence next to Jack, arms loosely circling her upraised knees. She wasn't sure how much time had passed since she'd made the decision to tell Jack what she'd done only to have him tell her that he didn't want to know.
It doesn't matter, Kate, who we were - what we did before this, before the crash... We should all be able to start over.
She contemplated his words as she watched the sun set on another day, wondering if it was possible and what she would change about how she'd gotten used to living. The first thing that had come to mind was his comment about her having trouble staying in one place. And so she remained there and took in the sunset, relaxing as her instinct to be on alert and on the move melted away.

**James enters from F3 - Area of Survivor's Camp**
James approached Jack cautiously, trying to figure out if he was intruding on a private moment - neither he nor the woman sat with him seemed to be talking. After a few moments of observation, James decided to just go for it.
"Excuse me, Jack?" he said apprehensively. "Can I have a word?"

KATE
Kate looked up at the man, his expression and body language portraying the seriousness of his tone. She stood up and placed a hand on Jack's shoulder, drawing his attention. "See you around."
She gave the man a friendly smile of understanding as she passed by him.
JACK
A fleeting smile crossed his features in response to Kate before he turned his gaze back to the man, trying to recall if they'd met since the man knew his name. Not that that meant they'd met. He was beginning to realize that everyone seemed to know who he was and more and more people had been coming to him for advise and looking to him for leadership. It was... unexpected and he was still trying to work out how things had gone this way and how he felt about it.
It was embedded in his nature to fix things so he'd been quick to help and quick to give advise but the seed of reluctance planted itself in his self confidence, damaged by his father and it was beginning to grow every time his father's words played over in his mind. You just don't have what it takes.
Jack brushed the memory aside. "Yah, sure. Have a seat," he said, gesturing to the spot Kate had vacated. He returned his gaze to the sunset as he waited for the man to settle.

"Yah, sure. Have a seat."
"Thanks" James replied, sitting down beside him. He looked down at the sand, trying to figure out how to word what was going on. It had all seemed much clearer in his head before. Now that he was actually sat here trying to explain it, the words seemed to have abandoned him.
"I'm sorry to bother you with this but you've been doing such a good job of keeping everyone going and I didn't really know who else to approach." He paused for a moment before forcing himself to continue. "One of the other passengers and I were out looking for water in the jungle earlier. While we were there I found the body of someone who was on the flight with me, a good friend. She's...well, as you can imagine she's...dead. I brought her body back to the beach. When she was alive, she always said that she hated the idea of being buried and wanted to be cremated when she died. I couldn't save her. I...I couldn't do anything. And now she's gone. So, as crazy as it may sound, I'd like to do that one last thing for her. To give her the cremation she wanted. But obviously I can't just go setting fire to dead bodies or the other people here will freak out. I guess what I'm saying is...I'm not sure what to do" he finished lamely.

Jack's gaze quickly turned to the man feeling a slight panic that was quickly quashed by the man's next words.
But obviously I can't just go setting fire to dead bodies or the other people here will freak out. I guess what I'm saying is...I'm not sure what to do"
"You're definitely right. People are traumatized enough as it is. The reactions would be..." Jack shook his head, not needing to finish. Cremation was not something people usually witnessed, nor did he think it was something most people would choose to witness. "Honestly? I haven't thought much about what should be done with the deceased but now that we've been here so many days, I guess it's something we all need to consider." Jack's eyes went to the fuselage and a thought began to form. "Cremation would probably be the best way. Burying all these bodies would take days. But whatever is decided, we'd need to inform the camp first." Jack looked around, noticing that some of the camp had already settled down for the night. He looked back at the man. "I know I'm asking a lot, but is there any way you can wait one more day?"

"I know I'm asking a lot, but is there any way you can wait one more day?"
"Yeah, sure. I've got some sheets in my tent, I can wrap her in those for the time being. Better that than everyone thinking I'm going all Wicker Man on them. Thanks for the advice."
I'll wrap her up and leave her in my tent rather than keeping the body out in the open. I'll just sleep put on the beach tonight.

JACK
The corners of his mouth twitched up at the Wicker Man comment. Handing distress by attempting to make light of the dark situation was better than the comatose state some others had gone into. "No problem," he said, though he didn't feel like he'd been much help. "Is there anything I can do? Any way I can help?"
HEIDI
The sun was almost gone and I'd been distracted with watching the sunset rather than being much help with the sandcastle. Our light was almost gone. "I think it's time we call it a day," I said to Sarah and Amber. I gathered up the utensils in the bucket and held out my hand for Sarah.

KATE
Kate had woken early and was helping the majority of the other survivors collect firewood. As she dropped off another armful, she spotted Sayid near the beach working with some electronic equipment and headed over.
"Looks like I'm not the only who couldn't sleep last night."
Sayid only spared her a quick glance. "There are better things to do with my time than collect firewood."
"You don't agree with Jack." It was apparent that Sayid had a problem with burning the fuselage. He'd made it clear last night when Jack had announced it. She attempted to change the conversation. "What are you making?"
"Too soon to talk about. I'm not sure it will even work." He kept his answers the same as he had for the others who had approached. Distant with the underlying tone that said he was busy and did not wish to be bothered.
Kate got the message loud and clear but didn't budge. She studied his work so far. "You're trying to pick up the transmission aren't you? The one we heard on the transceiver."
"If the French woman's transmission has truly been playing on a loop for 16 years then there must be a power source on the Island. A significant one."
"And you can find it?"
Realizing that Kate was genuinely interested and that she was one of the few who kept the secret of the transmission, Sayid finally looked away from his project long enough to explain to her. "Hypothetically, yes. I'm making an antenna of sorts. With a few of these mounted at different points on the Island I may be able to use the transceiver to triangulate the signal, find out where it's coming from." He also knew that she was always one of the first to volunteer to help so he knew what was coming next.
"So what can I do to help?" she asked matter of factly.
And there it was. "It appears you are as anxious to get off this Island as I am," he said with a smirk.
