I heard my name over the sound of the rain and turned toward the voice, seeing the woman who had been near me at the bonfire. I wracked my brain for a name. Gwen. That was it.
"You need some help?"
"Yah, please!" I shouted over the rain as she closed the distanced. "That girl over there," I pointed and spoke quickly, "can't move. Most of the cover is taken anyway so I was trying to get this tarp." I gave the tarp another yank. It moved only slightly and I could feel where it was still trapped under the heavy weight of luggage. "Over there to the left," I said, pointing as I rushed over, grabbing suitcases and bags and dragging them off the tarp.

Little Sarah
Sarah watched as Heidi went, quickly making her way over to her and started to help her take things off the tarp. Gwen had come not long after and they started to remove more luggage. "That's the girl who hurt her leg, she needs help." she called out and took a breath, the water felt nice and she found herself opening her mouth to take some water in.

She nodded in understanding and followed the girl's lead to where most of the weight was on the tarp. Doing her best not to break anything in the suitcases and bags, unlike certain baggage handlers on the Oceanic payroll, she tossed the lighter ones aside and dragged the heavier ones to a clearer spot of sand. She tugged at the plastic sheet and felt it move a little more. "I think we're almost there," she shouted over the rain.

"I think we're almost there."
"Just a few more," I called out in agreement.
We removed several more bags and when I gave the tarp another pull, it finally gave way. "We got it!" I shouted over the rain with a smile and quickly brought it over to the girl laying on the sand. With the help of the others, we had the tarp covering the girl and I ducked under it, sitting next to her and holding the tarp up toward the middle with one hand.
"Hey, are you okay?" I asked as I kept an eye out for the other two to join under the cover. It was kind of awkward, like a tent without poles or like hiding under a blanket when you're little.

At first I thought no one was going to help me, i could see people huddled under blankets and hiding under pieces of the plane and realized no one was coming for me. So i just lay there in the rain as it pelted me in the face, hard drops of rain and i sighed. I squeezed my eyes shut and just waited and then finally, something was over me and I wasn't getting pelted anymore. I looked up to see a girl a bit older then me with a smiled. "Y-yeah, th-thanks." I was freezing.

Sarah helped Heidi and Gwen drag the tarp over and climbed under with a smile. "Hi, i'm Sarah - are you okay?" She smiled as the girl nodded and smiled.

She ducked under the tarp as well and held up a corner opposite from Heidi. "There, much better," she beamed, as the sound of raindrops drummed on the plastic over their heads. "Bit like camping...I bloody hate camping."
"Y-yeah, th-thanks."
"As soon as the rain stops, we'll track down some blankets and dry clothes for you," she assured the girl. The splint on her leg made it clear she wouldn't be looking for supplies herself.

"Bit like camping...I bloody hate camping."
I laughed. "Yah, I've never been able to figure out which part of camping is considered 'fun'; The waking up with aches and pains from sleeping on the hard ground with a bunch of creepy crawly things, the gazillion bug bites, or the lack of indoor plumbing."
"As soon as the rain stops, we'll track down some blankets and dry clothes for you,"
I nodded. "And food. Have you eaten yet?" Remembering my horrible habit of forgetting to introduce myself, I said, "Oh, I'm Heidi, by the way. This is Gwen and Sarah already introduced herself."

Bit like camping...I bloody hate camping." I smirk and nod my head, wasn't a big fan of camping or peeing in the woods. Indoor plumbing would be awesome but that wasn't going to be an easy task to find.
"Yes why couldn't we be in Hawaii?" she sighed and rested back, "Thanks for coming to my rescue, it was nice of you. I'm glad not everyone is- everybody for yourself."
"As soon as the rain stops, we'll track down some blankets and dry clothes for you,"
"Thanks," I remember the woman from the plane, if only for a few short minutes. she was one of the flight attendants of the flight, I smiled and looked over at the other girl and smiled.
"And food. Have you eaten yet? Oh, I'm Heidi, by the way. This is Gwen and Sarah already introduced herself."
"Oh, someone came by with some fruit and i had a few pieces. But i'll be okay," I shook Heidi's hand and Gwen, "and its nice to meet all of you, again, thanks for helping me out. I would have moved myself but," I motion to my leg and sighed. "This is the first real injury i have ever gotten in my life. Besides slicing my pink nail off and smashing my head on a bird bath." I sigh.

Suddenly, the pelting on the tarp came to a complete stop. I looked up at the roof of the tarp in confusion and then lifted the side and reached my hand out to feel for water. "Seriously?" I said. After all that work, we finally got this stupid tarp freed and set up and then the rain stops. "It's not even sprinkling." I pulled the tarp aside so everyone could see. "Came to a full-stop. And look," I said, nodding up as the clouds dispersed. "The sun is even coming out."
I pulled my hair to the side and wrung out the water as best I could. "So, should we start looking for some dry clothes for her?" I asked Gwen.

"So, should we start looking for some dry clothes for her?"
"Um, I suppose we could look for your bag," she offered to the injured girl. "What did it look like? Did it have a nametag?" She glanced at the suitcases and other pieces of luggages strewn among the debris. People would eventually start to gather their own things, and then what was left would be unclaimed. Belonging to those who'd perished in the crash. Would it then be public property, to be distributed among the survivors who now needed it? Picking over bones--it was such a morbid business.

The rain had stopped? Seriously? I sighed and took a breath and peered out with Heidi as she pulled back the tarp. It was just done, no sprinkles, no nothing. The sun was even coming out and the whole running around to find a tarp was pointless. "Talk about cranky mother nature."
"So, should we start looking for some dry clothes for her?"
"Um, I suppose we could look for your bag, What did it look like? Did it have a nametag?"
"Yeah, its a black suitcase with a black strap. Name tag says Alisha Milot on it, i kind of decorated the bag- I wanted it to be recognizable. It has rainbow stickers on the strap." I smile and wipe the sand off my hands, my entire body was soaked and i hoped by the time they found my luggage, if they could- i'd be dry. Because i hate relying on others to help me, I especially don't like depending on people to help change me.

"That was really weird," She said at the sunshine and shook her head. "I'll start looking!" she smiled and skipped towards the luggage pile and started to look for the black suitcase with the rainbow stickers. Sarah yawned and kept looking but couldn't spot the bag, maybe she had to dig deeper?

"Black suitcase, black strap, rainbow stickers, Alisha nametag," I repeated, ticking the details off on my fingers. Sarah was already off like a shot, looking through one pile. I smiled. "Too damn early for so much energy," I joked. "Alrighty, I'll start looking. Just relax."
I looked toward the harsh sun as I stood up and tried to brush the wet sand off my damp clothes as best I could. Thankfully, the sun was drying everything pretty quickly. "We should probably move you to shade or make this thing," I pointed to the tarp, "into some kind of tent." I had no idea how the heck to go about doing that as I'd never put up a tent before but it seemed like it was something that was easy to do.
I headed to another part of the luggage pile and started shifting through. Black suitcase, black strap, rainbow stickers, Alisha nametag, I repeated in my mind every now and again.

Stu 'Smiley' Miley
Stu walked inland from the beach, his t-shirt wet and clinging to his muscular frame, he placed a hand on the bottom of his shirt and lifted it above his head before discarding it. Smiley's body was battered and bruised, his body covered in different shades of blue's and purples, some covering up his tattoos. In Stu's free hand was a packet of cigarettes, upon opening the packet up Stu realizes they are soggy and ruined from the previous down pour of rain and throws them away.
"Well this is just great..." Stu said to himself scratching his head. Smiley took a look around absorbing his surroundings, some people actually seemed to be getting pro active about the situation and some of them were woman, attractive woman none the less. "Ok Stu you have pulled woman in harder situations than this, I mean how hard can it be... we are trapped on a deserted island!"
Stu walked closer to a bigger group unsure of where he should go, he could hear people talking amongst each other and was amused by all the plans that were going on. Stu walked over to a pile of luggage that a couple of people were sorting through and sat down leaning against a larger suitcase and let the sun work its magic on his body before saying out loud "I'll be right here if you find my suitcase, youll know it when you see it, it has a deranged smiley face on it and there just might be something in it for you. K sweet cheeks?"

Black suitcase, black strap, rainbow-- I tended to stay in my own little world and had vaguely registered that someone had sat down but did not really register him until he spoke and interrupted my thoughts.
"I'll be right here if you find my suitcase, youll know it when you see it, it has a deranged smiley face on it and there just might be something in it for you. K sweet cheeks?"
I gave him a cursory glance, resisting a second look as I went back to sorting. Oh, you'd better be joking, I thought. But then again, good looking guys like this were usually used to stupid women who threw themselves at them and would gladly be at their beck and call. I was so not that type of woman. In fact, I usually enjoyed trying to take egos down a notch.
I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and go with joking. "Suitcase with your self portrait. I'll keep an eye out, honey buns," I said sweetly without looking away from my sorting.

Stu Miley - 99 Problems
Honey buns...
Honey... Buns...
Honey buns?
Those two words ran through Stu's head as he struggled to comprehend exactly what had just happened, most woman would be eager to do something for him the rest were probably lesbians. But the mockery of 'Honey buns' slightly impressed him, slightly. Stu got up and began rummaging through the luggage moving bags and suitcases in a more then unhelpful manor as he searched for his own. After a couple of minutes of searching he found it and tossed it near the woman who had called him Honey buns. "Please, please, please..." Stu prayed as he opened the suitcase, once open Stu began to throw clothes out of his suitcase until it was empty. Stu pulled the bottom of it open revealing it had a false bottom containing lots of stacks of 100 dollar bills. It also contained his gloves which he picked up and looked at, they were still caked with blood from his fight a few nights prior. The last thing it contained was a carton of cigarettes which he quickly picked up and tore into, putting a cigarette in his mouth and begun searching a suitcase pocket for a lighter. Once the lighter was found he lit the cigarette and stood up blowing smoke out his body becoming more relaxed. He held the packet of cigarettes out to the woman offering her one "You wouldn't believe how little it costs to get things through airport security. You can call me Smiley, and don't worry the pleasure will be all yours."

I glared at his back and held back a growl as he tossed luggage around, ruining my little system of luggage heaps I'd already looked through. Ever the organizational freak, I always came up with some way of keeping things in order so that whatever I was doing was as efficient as possible. But I respected the fact that not everyone shared my quirk so I sighed and continued my search, back in my own little world until he pulled me right out of it again with a toss of his suitcase.
"Please, please, please..."
Whatever snarky retort I was about to say was forgotten as he started tossing the contents of his suitcase everywhere. I reflexively caught a shirt as it flew at me and was momentarily stunned as he lifted the false bottom of the suitcase. Holy crap, I thought as I saw the stack of hundreds. I don't think I'd ever seen so much cash in my life and he was so nonchalant about it. What was he, a hitman? Drug dealer? Then I saw the gloves and studied him as he lit a cigarette, noting the bruises on his otherwise nearly perfect form. And damn what a fine one it was. I shook my head and looked away before I was caught staring. Some kind of professional fighter maybe?
I shook my head at the offered cigarettes. "Thanks, but I don't smoke."
"You wouldn't believe how little it costs to get things through airport security. You can call me Smiley, and don't worry the pleasure will be all yours."
I giggled. I just couldn't help it. He had to be joking around and trying to get a smile or laugh out of me. I just couldn't believe that someone could be drowning in that much self assured confidence. "You, Mr. Smiley, are trouble." I walked around him, draping his shirt over his arm as I passed him to search another section of the luggage.

"You, Mr. Smiley, are trouble."
Stu watched her walk away, "Well... I've been called worse..." Stu threw the shirt she placed on him in his suitcase with the rest of his things and closed it. Stu took the cigarette out of his mouth and flicked it onto the ground before standing on to to put it out. Stu begun to walk away, his impressions of this woman forming, she had shot him down twice and he didn't even get her name. "The ease of Vegas must have thrown off my game." Stu caught up with her and put his hand on her shoulder and spun her around, "Okay, look this is officially the hardest I have ever tried to get a woman's name, and I mean that as a compliment. Generally it works like this I say my name then you say your name after that I selflessly offer to help you out in any way I can with no real intention of actually helping you. I then say "Maybe after this we could go for walk, find a nice secluded spot and get to know each other." So maybe we could try this again."

Black suitca-- Suddenly, I was spun around. I momentarily grabbed his arm for balance while sweeping my damp hair off my face to glare up at him.
"Okay, look this is officially the hardest I have ever tried to get a woman's name, and I mean that as a compliment. I then say "Maybe after this we could go for walk, find a nice secluded spot and get to know each other." So maybe we could try this again."
By the end of his speech, I was gawking up at him. By far, the most assertive guy I'd ever come across. It was a strange mix of exhilarating and a little scary because I didn't know how to handle a guy like this. I was used to the guys around where I lived and grew up who were mostly too afraid to even approach a girl just to introduce themselves.
"Heidi," I said quietly. I cleared my throat, composed myself and took a step back, holding out my hand and putting on a friendly smile. "Nice to meet you. I'm Heidi. And that over there," I nodded toward the little girl sifting through luggage, "is Sarah. We're looking for the suitcase that belongs to a girl with an injured leg but since you have 'no real intention of actually helping' I won't bore you with details."

Stu let a long drawn out sigh escape him, she just had to play the sympathy card, there is no way he could not help now that he knows there is an injured girl involved. Ignorance is bliss instantly popped into Stu's head, his conscience maybe small but it could be a real prick when it wanted to be. Normally Stu could just ignore it, Vegas was an easy city to loss people, yourself or your problems in, but here on an Island...
"Heidi, I'd like to...help?" The word's almost pained him to say "I believe that's the word I'm looking for. I maybe an asshole but I'm not a f**king asshole." Stu's eyes rolled as he spoke something he had never honestly asked someone before or actually cared (roughly) about the answer. "Tell me about her and what I can do...but if anyone asks I'm telling them it's to get into your pants!"

Little Sarah
Sarah had listened silently to this man and shook her head. Her daddy told her all about guys like this, they were only ever after one thing. She shivered at the thought of growing old and finding a boy who might like her - men were icky. Her dad told her she would one day find boys attractive and he would have to beat them off with his surf board. She told him it would never happen and went back to playing with Mr. Floppers.
The more this guy talked the more Sarah wanted to hit him. But she was a lady and she knew her mother wouldn't approve. So she started to move to the other pile and froze when she heard the guy say the F word. She paused and walked over to him and stepped on his foot, hard. "I am eight years old and I don't need to hear that kind of language. Also, its clear you are just trying to take advantage of Heidi. I might not know her for that long, but she is my friend and i will not let a bad man like you hurt her. So don't think because if you help with the suitcase you'll get her in the jungle somewhere- because its not going to happen." and she stepped on his foot again and walked back to the luggage pile.

"Oh, of course," I said with a smirk and roll of own eyes as I crossed my arms. "Wouldn't want to damage your reputation. But I have my own reputation--"
Before I could continue, a little eight-year-old whirlwind descended on Smiley.

I watched in shock and slight amusement as Sarah laid into him. She had more guts than I ever would. I quickly sobered as she stepped on his foot a second time before walking away. That may have been pushing it a little. "Remember, she's only eight. She's just trying to protect me."

Stu 'Smiley' Miley
A kid, nay a little brat stamped on Stu's foot twice....TWICE! It's so typical, Stu tried to be nice and the universe presents him with a giant middle finger, he missed Vegas already. He missed the sex, drugs, violence, gambling, even the shady dealings, hell right now Stu would settle on hearing 'Viva Las Vegas'. Instead he was standing shirtless on an island surround by people who would probably hate him, being told by a kid not to swear or take advantage of a woman and possessing a suitcase filled with half a million dollars and not a single bar, brothel or casino to spend it in.
"Remember, she's only eight. She's just trying to protect me."
"I hate kids, all they do is yell, break things and hurt people, they are like little wee English soccer hooligans, only without bar fights and the hatred of Germany! With that being said, I like that little bit, I can see a lot of me in her. Besides IF I wanted to hurt her I wouldn't do it front of witnesses, only worry if she suddenly disappears, living in Vegas you learn a few things about hiding a body." Stu delivered the last part in a way to make a person question weather or not it was a joke. "Relax I can respect her for looking out for you. Loyalty is a good quality...It must be nice knowing someone has your back..." And for a tiny moment Stu sounded as sad and lonely as he felt most of his life.

The first part had me laughing. Probably one of the most creative description of kids I've ever heard. "I'm not a big fan of kids either, personally don't want any and yet, I always seem to find myself taking care of someone else's kid." I shrugged off his last comment, once again giving him the benefit of the doubt and deciding it had to have been a joke. "I like her, too, and I've got her back in return."
"Relax I can respect her for looking out for you. Loyalty is a good quality...It must be nice knowing someone has your back..."
He actually looked kind of sad. Was I getting a glimpse of the person under all that bravado? I was not one to try and pry information out of people. When they wanted to talk about it, they'd talk about it. "Treat others as you want to be treated. That's always been the motto I've tried to live by."
I glanced around, seeing people setting up shelters, sorting through things, and other such constructive activities, reminding me of what I was supposed to be doing. "Alisha's suitcase!" I said as I turned back toward the luggage and got back to rummaging. "I'm supposed to be looking for Alisha's suitcase. If you wanna help, it's a black suitcase, black strap, has rainbow stickers on it, and the name tag says Alisha."

Black suitcase, black strap, has rainbow stickers on it...how many suitcases can there possibly be with that description? Stu looked over to the pile of suitcases in which he had frolicked while looking for his, only what 75% of them seemed to be black, then it dawned on him he had probably ruined whatever system she had going there...but if it meant he could get that sweet, sweet nicotine he would gladly do it again.
"Well where have you looked? Where haven't you looked? Being from Vegas you learn to notice details about things..." By things what Stu was people, mainly those he planned on stealing from...he had learnd the hard way that impulse is not always a good thing, just generally a fun thing. "...And I can't recall seeing it while destroying whatever system you had going on over there... And yeah this is really awkward, can you tell good deeds make me uncomfortible?"
