"That is all, Mr. Stark, thank you,""Would you bring in the Asgardian next, please? Thank you,"
As much as Tony didn't like not having the last word unless it was a conversation that didn't interest him at all, he knew that anything he would add might only worsen the situation. Also, he had to talk to Banner in private somehow. Tony didn't feel like he could live up to his fellow scientist when it came to encouraging somebody to make them talk.
Without any more words, he allowed the guards to lead him back to the cells. This was not exactly the best New Year's Day, yet also not the worst.
*** Tony, led by the two guards, exits to the cells ***

*** Thor was guided to the room by the two guards ***
The first impression he got from the woman who was waiting for him was that she was still very young. Well, at least he thought she might be young because if he remembered right humans had a very short lifespan compared to his own people.
The young lady was sitting in a chair in front of a table. There was another chair on his side but the God decided to stay on his feet for the moment.
"Hi, missy," he said and gave her a charming smile.

"Hi, missy."
Missy? Jemma thought, startled from her notes by the new arrival. "Actually, it's 'Doctor,' or 'Agent' Simmons, if you prefer," she advised. But when she turned to look up at the Asgardian god, all resentment or annoyance seemed to melt away at the sight of those sparkling blue eyes. "Hallo, Thor," she greeted, returning his smile. "You look rather different than the last time we saw you. But it's a good look. I mean, you look good. The shorter hair and all ..."
Before she could embarrass herself further, Jemma decided it was best to get to work. "If you could remove the restraints," she instructed the guards. "Please, have a seat." She gestured to the empty chair opposite her. "As I told Gamora, I've no wish to harm you. I'd just like to take some readings." She placed the stethoscope in her ears and picked up the blood pressure cuff. "May I?" she asked, pointing at his rather sizable left bicep.

"Actually, it's 'Doctor,' or 'Agent' Simmons, if you prefer," the young woman answered without looking up. The Asgardian still wondered why most human beings were such obsessed with their stacks of paper.
But luckily it took her just a few moments before she decided to draw her attention directly to him "Hallo, Thor," "You look rather different than the last time we saw you. But it's a good look. I mean, you look good. The shorter hair and all ..." "Um, thanks, mis… , I mean Doctor Simmons", he gave back. He was abit confused because of her all of a sudden changed mode of behavior.
"If you could remove the restraints," The two men made some steps away from him so that he didn’t feel like he was driven into a corner. He knew that they only did their job but the God of Thunder didn’t like this kind of feeling. Some years ago this situation would have been escalated. But nowadays he got a bit calmer. At least he and the others had decided to getting caught by the government or whoever these people were.
"Please, have a seat." Remembering his previous thought he just followed the request and sat down. Maybe it would be the best if he just answered her questions and followed her instructions. The more they would be cooperating the sooner they could tell them the reason why they had been captured.
"As I told Gamora, I've no wish to harm you. I'd just like to take some readings." "Okay, that’s good to hear, Doctor Simmons." Then she took one of these strange instruments he already knew from his first visit on Earth. Though he wasn’t bound on a bed this time… "May I?" Thor gave her a short nod. "What kind of Doctor are you, Doctor Simmons. I mean – did you know that Bruce had a lot of Doctor titles? He called it his special strenght. Oh, but one thing: The Hulk isn’t the strongest Avenger! Even if Tony called him so. I mean we all knew that Tony loves to give us names… I have beaten the Hulk! Well, I would have if the Grandmaster…" Suddenly he stopped his flow of speech. A few moments ago he had decide to just talk when he was asked. "I’m sorry, mis… Doctor Simmons. It’s a long and strange story…"

"I can imagine," Jemma remarked, with a sincere smile. His enthusiasm after Tony's cynicism was refreshing, and she still knew so little about alien physiology. His blood pressure done, she moved on to examine his eyes. Although one eye seemed to react very differently than the other. "I'm a biochemist, that's what kind of doctor I am. And as smart as I may seem sometimes, I assure you Dr. Banner leaves me in the dust. And we're certainly going to need every bit of genius in that head if what you all warned us about comes to pass."
Jemma set aside her instruments and resumed her seat across from her latest subject. "You've been here before, protecting the Earth from existential threats. Fighting alongside us in New Mexico and New York and Greenwich and Sokovia. What makes this man Thanos different?" she inquired.

"I can imagine," Thor just gave her a short nod. Although he was very sure that she couldn’t really imagine what kind of adventure they had to get through.
While she was doing that strange 'light-into-the-eyes'-thing she resumed their thread. "I'm a biochemist, that's what kind of doctor I am. And as smart as I may seem sometimes, I assure you Dr. Banner leaves me in the dust. And we're certainly going to need every bit of genius in that head if what you all warned us about comes to pass." The God of Thunder wasn’t sure if he should comment this or not. It would somehow feel like as if he would stab his friend in the back. Or like he had to come to his defence.
But before he could have decided what or even if he wanted to give her a response Doctor Simmons stopped looking at him with her instruments and started to ask questions about their enemy, Thanos. "You've been here before, protecting the Earth from existential threats. Fighting alongside us in New Mexico and New York and Greenwich and Sokovia. What makes this man Thanos different?" Thor leaned back on his chair as much as possible to made himself a bit more comfortable. "That’s easy to explain: Most of these attacks were committed by humans." He stopped for some seconds because he realized that she could misunderstand his words as an insult. "Well, I mean they only got their own powers or the power they got from their toys." Of course none of the weapons the Avengers had fight against had been just toys but all of these seemed to be ones compared to Thanos power and the Infinity Stones. "But Thanos – if Gamora is right – is stronger than every human being. Maybe… just as strong as me or the Hulk." Or maybe stronger – but he wouldn’t speak it out loud because until now they didn’t know the truth if or if not. "And he is searching for the Infinity Stones, very powerful artifacts which are as old or even older than the whole universe itself. And if he would get all of them he could do everything he wants with just one snap."

"... Thanos – if Gamora is right – is stronger than every human being. Maybe… just as strong as me or the Hulk. And he is searching for the Infinity Stones, very powerful artifacts which are as old or even older than the whole universe itself. And if he would get all of them he could do everything he wants with just one snap."
Jemma nodded along as she took in Thor's words. “Gamora said Thanos was after her because she knew something," she recalled. "It’s a reasonable assumption that she knows the location of one or more of these Infinity Stones." And even though Gamora was probably just as strong as Thor or the Hulk, an opinion which Jemma restrained herself from sharing, she was terrified of Thanos. Not only because he might extract the information from her, but that he might again use her as a weapon for his own ends.
"If we can find them," Jemma continued, thinking aloud, "We can keep them away from Thanos, or maybe even find a way to use them against him. Understandably, Gamora is reluctant to speak with me. Tony thinks he can get her to cooperate, but I think he's overestimating his charms. The fact that all of you surrendered yourself to the authorities goes a long way, but I'm worried that if I can't get Gamora to talk willingly ... they'll find other ways."

“Gamora said Thanos was after her because she knew something," "It’s a reasonable assumption that she knows the location of one or more of these Infinity Stones." Thor remembered that the Guardians had told him about their first adventure with one of the Infinity Stones, the Orb or Power Stone. And he had told them in return about his adventure with the aether which was also called the Reality Stone. These two should be save from Thanos. At least he hoped so. But he didn’t know something about Gamora’s secret. She was such a sealed person.
"If we can find them," "We can keep them away from Thanos, or maybe even find a way to use them against him. Understandably, Gamora is reluctant to speak with me. Tony thinks he can get her to cooperate, but I think he's overestimating his charms. The fact that all of you surrendered yourself to the authorities goes a long way, but I'm worried that if I can't get Gamora to talk willingly ... they'll find other ways." "Whoa, wait! You think about using the Infinity Stones?! I’ve heard that they are too strong for ordinary mortals. Even for gods. There’s only one way to use their powers without being destroyed by them… a legedary armor, the so-called Infinity Gauntlet, forged by the dwarves..." Suddenly he stopped. He got the feeling that he got off the track again.
"Okay, that’s not the main point, right? At the moment you wanted to know what Gamora knows. But I agree with you. I also don’t think Tony will get this information. She barely knew him – and she didn’t even talk too much about such important things than her own secrets to people she knew better." The God of Thunder stretched himself and leaned forward to the young female Doctor. "I can probably set her talking. But surely not in these surroundings. I mean… it’s like a prison!" It was a prison ideed but the Asgardian tried to ignore that fact. "Maybe you could give us our weapons and let us work out together. These cells should be able to take some little damage, am I right?"

"I can probably set her talking. But surely not in these surroundings. I mean… it’s like a prison! Maybe you could give us our weapons and let us work out together. These cells should be able to take some little damage, am I right?"
Jemma sighed. "As I told Mr. Stark, your weapons and all personal effects are now the property of SHIELD. I couldn't access them even if I wanted to," she advised. "Even though you all entered detainment voluntarily, I'm afraid the same rules apply. Anyway, I'm sure we'll sort this out, defeat Thanos in typically epic and heroic fashion, and get you back to Asgard before they miss you too much.
"How does that work, by the way?" Jemma queried, still curious about ancient Scandinavian gods appearing in the southwestern desert and leaving unreadable runes carved in the ground. She'd only seen it in archival photos, though her colleague had been lucky enough to be there. "Interplanetary travel in a matter of moments. Coulson said you called it the Bifrost....?"

Anyway, I'm sure we'll sort this out, defeat Thanos in typically epic and heroic fashion, and get you back to Asgard before they miss you too much." Thor wanted to contradict but she didn’t give him a chance to do so because she switched the topic. "How does that work, by the way?" "Interplanetary travel in a matter of moments. Coulson said you called it the Bifrost....?" Now the Doctor had turned into a curious young woman. He was okay with that fact. But her question reminded him of his losses. "Phew! Give me a second," he said and closed his eyes for a moment. Then, after a deep sigh, he gave her an answer. Maybe not the one she had hoped for and, of course, not the one he had wished to give her. But sadly it was the truth. "The Bifrost does no longer exist." He stopped for a second. It was still hard to talk about what happened on Asgard. "One of my dearest freinds, Heimdall, was the Keeper of the Gate. He was able to open the Bifrost with his sword so that we could travel between the Realms. But my sister, Hela, had destroyed Asgard and forced our people to find a new home. Our father had chosen it before he was gone…" Again he had to pause for a moment. "I’ve lost most of my family and many dear friends. Even if we had defeated our evil sister our people still have to suffer because Thanos is somewhere out there..." Meanwhile the God of Thunder manned up again. "But you and your people also got losses. Coulson was a good guy."

"Ah, yes, Coulson. Funny story, that," Jemma remarked, standing to walk back to her desk. "Which I shall have to tell you some other time." She didn't wish to shock him with the news of Coulson's resurrection as she had already done with Stark, since Thor already had a lot on his mind. "I'm very sorry for your loss. And I'm sure you and your people would be welcome here on Earth. I mean, Scandinavian legends are already so similar to what I've read of Asgard and --"
She stopped mid-sentence, her eyes widening as her mind tried to make a connection. "Are they already here?" Jemma asked, spinning back to face him. "The Asgardian refugees, are they already here on Earth? Because why else would you have traveled to Norway...."
She resumed her seat in the chair and pulled it closer to him. "I understand that you're trying to protect your people, I really do. But if Earth is in danger from this Thanos, then so are they. But I need more information," she prompted. "I need something that would justify the sort of massive mobilization that all of you seem to be expecting. Taking responsibility for the preservation of an endangered alien civilization might just be that."

"Ah, yes, Coulson. Funny story, that," "Which I shall have to tell you some other time." Thor wasn’t sure why she’d call it a funny story but that could only mean that there was another story he had missed while he hadn’t been on Earth.
"I'm very sorry for your loss. And I'm sure you and your people would be welcome here on Earth. I mean, Scandinavian legends are already so similar to what I've read of Asgard and --" He gave her a nod and a thankful smile to show her his appreciation for her kind words. "Are they already here?" "The Asgardian refugees, are they already here on Earth? Because why else would you have traveled to Norway...." The God of Thunder was unsure if he should answer or not. He wanted to protect his people. But what if they would be most confident with the help of Midgard’s people? "I understand that you're trying to protect your people, I really do. But if Earth is in danger from this Thanos, then so are they. But I need more information," "I need something that would justify the sort of massive mobilization that all of you seem to be expecting. Taking responsibility for the preservation of an endangered alien civilization might just be that." It seemed like she could read his thoughts. And her words were comprehensible. Thor had given Loki the promise to protect their people – but obviously hiding them from the world won’t be the best.
"Okay, Dr. Simmons, you’re right. Our people are already here, in Norway. Tony and the others visited that place because they had noticed it on their radar. I was with the Guardians at that time until the Milanoo was caught by turbulences. We crashed down close-by and had a long briefing to get everyone up to date. And then your people appeared – I think because they noticed the Milanoo on their radars." He made a short pause and closed his eyes for a moment. He hoped the others – especially Loki – won’t be angry with him that he told her that much. But she convinced him that it would be better. "Asgard – I mean the place Asgard – does no longer exist. It was destroyed by… Well, that’s all what matters for the moment. But right after we had escaped from the explosion Thanos' people had found and attacked us. I’m sure we would be all dead if the Guardians of the Galaxy hadn’t helped us to escape." He stopped again. Maybe now would be the best time to tell her about his brother and how he was involved to the story. "Um, there’s one thing you also should know... I think you remember Loki, my brother? Please, don’t freak out. He’s also on Earth – but he has changed! He and Dr. Banner are the ones who built up New Asgard together with our people. Loki sides with us."

Okay, that was a lot to unpack, as her eyebrows flicked upward in surprise. She hadn't expected Thor to be more talkative than Stark, but this manic monologue seemed to only produce more questions than answers. What was a Milano and what caused it to crash? The designation didn't match any current ship in the SHIELD fleet, nor the responding Norwegian authorities. And if Tony had company, that meant he had traveled by plane and not by his suit. But no plane had been discovered at the site. And what was a Guardian of the Galaxy? Could they offer assistance in preventing the arrival of Thanos? And then there was the matter of Thor's wayward brother....
"All due respect, sir, Loki only ever sides with himself," Jemma said bitterly. She may not have been present during the Chitauri invasion of New York, but the ripples it left behind had continued to claim lives, even her own nearly. Dr. Banner's alter ego was another wild card that she was not prepared to unleash on an unsuspecting Earth just yet. "Perhaps we may be lucky in that Loki and our goals align in order to save this planet. But you can surely understand my hesitancy to trust him."
Jemma got back to her feet and returned to her desk, beginning to quickly type at the keyboard. "I actually have some ... tests to run, so thank you for your time. It's been very helpful." She gave the Asgardian a warm smile of dismissal before nodding to the escorting guards. "And again, I am very sorry for the loss of your home and your people. Let's do our best to make sure we don't lose anyone else, shall we?"

Leopold Fitz groaned and span himself away from the desk on the wheels of his weathered chair. He wasn't getting anywhere. Every simulation came back with the same result. Inconclusive. All of his bleeping devices simply chimed in with agreement that there was a transport that passed the SHIELD satellite network and entered Earth's atmosphere. He had managed to track the craft to the Scandinavian Peninsula but then it seemed to vanish. The craft was clearly beyond Earth tech far too advanced for SHIELD satellites that probably hadn't been updated in a couple of decades. SHIELD agents had then found some 'detainees' in Norway and brought them all to the Raft. To be fair, Norway would fit in with his estimates of the Scandinavian region. Fitz had been on an assignment with a SHIELD unit in Guinea-Bissau when he'd been called in to travel to the Raft. He'd resisted at first. Fitz had been to the Raft a couple of times, initially to assist with crafting the prison's security. He'd hated every visit. The prison was cold in every sense of the word. He'd only agreed once he had learnt that Jemma was on her way there. Shortly after he'd arrived it had been decided that Jemma would speak to the detainees in the lab one on one to ascertain their honesty, to learn what had happened in Norway and to ensure they weren't hurt. Fitz knew he was being kept in the dark on the events there but he hadn't persisted. He had simply requested the essential machinery was moved to the much smaller lab next door so he could discover what he could whilst he listened in to Jemma's conversations over the comms channel he easily hacked into. The first was an alien. Fitz stared intently into a grainy TV next to his computer screen showing Jemma speaking to the green woman. Fitz was impressed with Jemma's interrogation styles. They very much echoed her as a person. Open. Honest. Genuine. It was an approach that on the whole seemed to work. However, despite how gentle and understanding Jemma was being, the woman's nerves were simply not dissipating. "My own father did this to me. Piece by piece, he modified my body against my own will to make me into his strongest weapon."Fitz couldn't help but be impressed by the cybernetic implants that she had. They were decades ahead of anything Earth had to offer. Fitz pulled his cardigan close around him as he leaned towards the screen to inspect the vitals Jemma had just taken. Bio was her expertise but it was the tech he was fascinated by. His attention was pulled away by the word 'Thanos'. It seemed to be the name of the woman's father. The cause of her nerves. He could relate. Memories of his own father briefly flashed across his mind. His real father that had hated him. The father from the Mainframe that had... Now was not the time. Fitz continued to listen in as he typed 'Thanos' into the SHIELD database. No results. "He's relentless. Merciless. He uses the ones he claims to love for personal gain and power, and will annihilate innocents without hesitation. He's a monster...and he's coming here. Thanos will stop at nothing to get what he wants.""And what he wants is something here on Earth? Can you tell us what it is? Perhaps we can find it and secure it, make sure he can't get it."As Jemma tried to reassure Gamora, Fitz delved deeper into the SHIELD datacore. There were many instances in SHIELD's past that they had encountered aliens. Images of the Kree, Chitauri, Asgardians and a race called the Phalanx filled the screen. Didn't seem right. He typed in aliens, green. Presumably her father would also be green? Reports of the Hulk popped up which he dismissed. There was a race named the Badoon SHIELD had encountered in 2001 but they didn't seem right either. The name Jennifer Walters popped up a few times too but as far as Fitz could tell she was just a lawyer. Didn't fit the bill. Fitz turned back to the screen showing the main lab. The alien was crying and Jemma was comforting her. "You say you know something that Thanos doesn't know yet, right? And that gives us some time. I don't expect you to tell me what that is. But you must have told Mr. Stark something significant enough to make him break the Sokovia Accords. I think I should speak with him now. You can return to your...temporary quarters."One down. Her face hadn't triggered anything on any Earth based record bank. There was a high probability that she hadn't visited their planet before. Fitz left a search active once again to find anything relating to this 'Thanos'. As he turned back to the security recording, Tony Stark was entering the lab. Fitz's heartrate slightly increased. He was Ironman! Fitz's childhood bedroom had had posters of the various Stark expos littered over them. Howard Stark was one of his heroes. Being this close to Tony Stark was more exhilarating than he'd admit. It was Tony's prototype nano tech that had helped him replace Coulson's arm after the incident with the axe. Despite desperately wanting Tony to sign his stomach with a highlighter to then jump in a helicopter to the closest tattoo parlor, he was rather glad it was Jemma talking to him instead. Fitz was certain he wouldn't be able to keep his cool. "Yah yah, feeling flattered, feeling appreciated, but as we chitchat here, you still have waiting in line a stressed-out man who can become green but not with envy, a god, doped up with enough testosterone that it seems to affect the - as you should think so - most important muscle, and a bug lady, probably on a whole different kind of drug which I haven't found out yet. Oh, and how could I have forgotten Jumbo from Outer Space, going to snuff out world population. So, we better get this started."Sure he was a douche-bag but he was far too cool. "Coulson did warn me you were a charmer. That must be how you manage to routinely flaunt the rules without consequence. Mr. Stark, you were a major proponent of the Sokovia Accords, you advocated for oversight of enhanced individuals, and yet in the past 24 hours you allegedly facilitated the entry of an alien craft into Earth's atmosphere. You broke the Accords, Mr. Stark. Or at the very least bent them quite a lot. Or would you like to pretend that you didn't have a hand in putting those aforementioned enhanced individuals and aliens in those cells outside?"Fitz grinned. Not many people would have the balls to talk to Tony Stark like that. Even General Ross would think twice and down a few glasses of whiskey first. "Wait, you mean Agent?""Well, I think his first name is Phil. Or perhaps, Phillip. I just call him 'Sir.' But yes, he's doing quite well. My colleague Fitz was able to use some of your prototype nanotechnology when we had to replace his arm, so I'm sure he thanks you for that."Everything was just white noise after that. Colleague? She called him a colleague? Not even a friend. Just. Colleague. Fitz stood and paced the room as Jemma continued talking to Tony. He mumbled to himself in frustration whilst twiddling a pen around his fingers. "A colleague? Hi, my name is Fitz and I'm Jemma's colleague. Friends? No of course not. Best friends? Perish the thought? Boyfri..." Fitz stopped himself. Not the time to have a crisis. He turned back to the conversation going on next door, promising himself that he would raise the matter with Jemma when they next spoke. "...if I don't find out what prompted your Norwegian detour. Gamora made it sound rather momentous. And I doubt you would have submitted to SHIELD incarceration if you didn't believe her." "Right, and that's why I don't get that we're still sitting here and talking. As for my part, I would have already gone in preparation to ward off the end of civilization, but - as you probably know - the Avengers are hogtied through the Sokovia Accords."The Avengers. Fitz sat back down, still spinning his favorite biro inbetween his fingers. It was a strange collection of people to have been apprehended. There were plenty of Avengers that had signed the Accords other than Stark yet there were many of them that had been nowhere near Norway. Most of course were almost impossible to track. There wasn't a piece of tech Fitz knew of that could possibly track the Vision. Colonel Rhodes hadn't been on site. As far as Fitz knew he was still in recovery and was to be considered off duty. Fitz selected a tracker to be placed on Rhodes' place of residence just incase there were any strange goings on. Captain America, Agent Romanoff, Antman and several others were still on the run. Agent Barton had supposedly retired from the superhero life. Fitz actioned for another tracker to be placed on his farmstead safe house SHIELD had gifted to him. Fitz had heard the term 'free range prison' mentioned at the time. As a precaution, Fitz raised some alerts to be triggered if there was any suspicious activity at the homes of those known to be close to Avengers current or past. Fitz didn't even know most of the names of the people that lived in these places. 177A Bleecker Street, NYC popped up as under surveillance. There was also a small apartment in Queens, NYC under scrutiny due to the number of visits Tony Stark had paid it. An apartment in downtown Paris. A soda factory in Rocinha, Rio de Janeiro. "Happy New Year." "Is it? I hadn't noticed. Better get a kiss from one of the guards, then. Thank you for your time, Mr. Stark." This once again brought Fitz's attention back to the other room. It was New Years?? He'd been so busy over the past few weeks he'd barely noticed. He'd missed Christmas and was close to missing new years. Checking his watch, he felt there was still probably enough time for a kiss to be appropriate...right? No. The answer was probably a most definitive no. Who went around kissing colleagues for a start!?!? With that, Fitz was up on his feet again. He barely noticed the God of Thunder enter the lab. His mind was racing trying to think of various ways to solve their conundrum as Jemma began speaking. The doors behind Fitz then slid open with a hiss. General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross entered the room with two soldiers either side of him. The trio paused in the doorway as if expecting Fitz to give them a salute. Fitz instead gave them a casual nod to confirm he'd seen them and went back to thinking. The General's moustache quivered in frustration as he stepped forwards. "Agent Fitz. It's been some time now and we still don't have answers. Agent Simmons has almost spoken to all the prisoners and all we have is some alien mumbo jumbo. If we don't get answers soon I'll have no choice but to resort to the next phase of questioning."Fitz raised an eyebrow at that. The silence in the room confirmed that the General meant torture. "Alright, alright I know it's been a bit but give her some more time. Jem...Agent Simmons has already gotten information we didn't already have. We're so close. These aren't the sort of people that will respond well to your...methods. Maybe put your guns down, pack up the yankee doodle routine and take a breath." Fitz turned away from the General and pretended to be checking some notes around his computer. His pen twiddling was now into overdrive to distract him from the waves of anger radiating from the wannabe Uncle Sam behind him. "Get. It. Done Agent Fitz. Or I will."The three soldiers left the room and Fitz breathed a sigh of relief as the door closed. They were running out of time. Fitz turned to the camera feed of the lab. "...is searching for the Infinity Stones, very powerful artifacts which are as old or even older than the whole universe itself. And if he would get all of them he could do everything he wants with just one snap."“Gamora said Thanos was after her because she knew something. It’s a reasonable assumption that she knows the location of one or more of these Infinity Stones. If we can find them, we can keep them away from Thanos, or maybe even find a way to use them against him..."Fitz entered the phrase 'Infinity Stones' into the SHIELD datacore. To his surprise there were indeed a few hits. Mostly unhelpful however. There were extracts from religious texts and some historical journals going back centuries. There was even a drawing from some Nordic text of what looked to be Odin, ravens on both shoulders, placing a glowing blue cube into the mouth of a serpent beneath a large oak tree. Not too surprising as the son of said doodle was in the next room. There were however much more recent hits that drew his attention. There was a SHIELD report filed by Howard Stark himself. Mostly redacted but it referenced a power source that had been recovered by tracking it's weak radiation signal. There was a black and white photo with the report. The image was clear. The Tesseract. The object that had opened a portal above the skies of New York City, allowing an alien army to fly through and slaughter hundreds. Fitz searched further into the datacore. A report written by Agent Hill two days after the battle of New York confirmed that Thor had taken the Tesseract back to Asgard. Fitz turned his attention back to Jemma and the God in question. "Okay, Dr. Simmons, you’re right. Our people are already here, in Norway. Tony and the others visited that place because they had noticed it on their radar. I was with the Guardians at that time until the Milano was caught by turbulences. We crashed down close-by and had a long briefing to get everyone up to date. And then your people appeared – I think because they noticed the Milano on their radars. Asgard – I mean the place Asgard – does no longer exist. It was destroyed by… Well, that’s all what matters for the moment. But right after we had escaped from the explosion Thanos' people had found and attacked us. I’m sure we would be all dead if the Guardians of the Galaxy hadn’t helped us to escape. Um, there’s one thing you also should know... I think you remember Loki, my brother? Please, don’t freak out. He’s also on Earth – but he has changed! He and Dr. Banner are the ones who built up New Asgard together with our people. Loki sides with us."Loki? Back on Earth. Fitz shook his head and put that thought in a box for later. The Milano was their ship. Their alien vessel that had been detected travelling near the Scandinavian Peninsula. But then where was it? There was no mention of an alien craft on any report filed. How could a ship vanish? It would have been detected if it had left the same way it had arrived. Cloaking tech? It was hard to cloak something that small but Fitz knew from personal experience it wasn't impossible. He sat down and wheeled his chair over to his laptop. All it took was two minutes... --------------- Fitz ran into the lab as Thor seemed to be leaving through the door at the other side of the room in the direction of the cells. Fitz flipped open his laptop and thrust it into Jemma's face. "Hank Pym didn't leave SHIELD in 1992, he left in 1989!"The blank and somewhat surprised look Jemma was giving him made sense. Fitz grabbed hold of his train of thoughts, pulled them back and started again. He put the laptop down on a nearby lab worktop and explained. "Public records always showed him leaving SHIELD in 1992 which I always thought was strange as he was a brilliant man that almost fizzled out of SHIELD. That's because he had an almighty dust up with the bigwigs at the time and left in a huff in 1989. He was quietly busying himself with setting up Pymtech before announcing the new company three years later. When Dr Pym left SHIELD, he took almost every trace of Pym particles with him. Almost. Almost every trace. He must have left in a real hurry because there were some left over and preserved in the SHIELD datacore. You'd have made a better formulae composite than me but I was rushing." Fitz turned the laptop screen so Jemma could see. It showed Hank Pym in a SHIELD lab in 1987 testing a Pym particle on a horse. The horse was shrunk to the size of a squirrel to the applause of the surrounding scientists. Fitz turned to Jemma grinning. "But, if we play the same footage over again but this time using a spectrometer filter; look at what it detects!!!" Fitz played the same footage again but this time everything shone a dim green. When the horse shrank, there was a burst of neon lime. Fitz jumped in the air. "Photoelectric ionization! It's a perfect Compton Scatter! The Pym particle generates a burst of gamma radiation. Totally harmless but totally detectable! I read through what the team had found in Norway and everything points to the same conclusion. Pym particles were used. And I'm willing to bet on Celtic FC itself that they used Pym particles to shrink their alien ship. Which also means, if we can track the radiation signals..."

"All due respect, sir, Loki only ever sides with himself," Yah, good point. But Thor knew that his brother would choose their side if he would have to decide whom to side with. "Perhaps we may be lucky in that Loki and our goals align in order to save this planet. But you can surely understand my hesitancy to trust him." "Well, yes, I can," he mumbled. The few past years had shown himself that Loki was a wayward factor most of the times.
"I actually have some ... tests to run, so thank you for your time. It's been very helpful." That sounded like a 'I’ve finished with you'. "And again, I am very sorry for the loss of your home and your people. Let's do our best to make sure we don't lose anyone else, shall we?" "Of course, Dr. Simmons. You got my promise that I’ll do everything possible to save Earth and the whole universe! Oh, and you can also count on the other Avengers and the Guardians, I think." The guards gave him a hint that it was time to leave the Lab and go back to the Cells. "Shall we?," one of them said.
Just as they had left the room a young man came their way, or better said he ran. Thor wondered who he was and why he was in a hurry. But probably he won’t get an answer. They were 'guests' at this strange place and could only sit on the fence… He hoped that the humans will be aware of the Mad Titan and his powers. At least that young woman semed to be a clever one.

No sooner had Jemma bid farewell to Thor than Fitz was rushing into the lab from the opposite end, clutching a laptop and excitedly talking about Hank Pym for some reason. A polite yet confused smile sat on her lips as she listened intently and attempted to catch up.
"...You'd have made a better formulae composite than me but I was rushing."
"Well, that's very sweet of you --" she managed to interject as he carried on about Pym particles. Then he showed her archival footage of Hank Pym seemingly supervising the use of his technology to shrink a real-live horse to the size of a toy one. She watched it again with the filter Fitz had mentioned and noticed the change in colors.
"Photoelectric ionization! ... And I'm willing to bet on Celtic FC itself that they used Pym particles to shrink their alien ship. Which also means, if we can track the radiation signals..."
"...Then when we can find out where our other party guests slipped off to," Jemma completed, as she began to secure her seat on his train of thought. "Oh, Fitz, that's brilliant!" She went back to her own computer and began calling up drone footage from the team that had responded and secured their detainees. "When Thor started talking about the others and Guardians and Asgardian refugees, I knew we must be missing something. Stark didn't just use his suit to get there, he had to use a plane, but we never saw any plane. I mean, we didn't really know to look for one at the time. But we didn't know anything about an alien spacecraft called a Milano, either."
She scrolled through the footage from after the group's apprehension, assuming any escapees would have waited until long after the coast was clear to make their move. She applied the same spectrometer filter and waited for the telltale flash of bright green. "And there it is," Jemma awed, pointing to a spot on the grid. "Just southwest of that circular void where our sounders couldn't get any readings. And clear enough that we can follow their flight path from there."
She rested one hand on the desk's edge and the other on her hip. "What on earth made you think of Pym particles?" she inquired.

Leopold Fitz - tempplay by wesleybucks - "...Then when we can find out where our other party guests slipped off to. Oh, Fitz, that's brilliant!"Fitz could feel himself blushing and turned away as Jemma sat at her desk rapidly typing on her keyboard. Fitz moved around to the other side of the wide desk, pulled up a chair and plonked his laptop down in front of him, ready to call up whatever information she needed.
Fitz nodded and pulled up the areal footage the strike team had taken from the site. As he did so, there was a cheer from Jemma. "And there it is. Just southwest of that circular void where our sounders couldn't get any readings. And clear enough that we can follow their flight path from there. What on earth made you think of Pym particles?"With a grin, Fitz leaned forwards from his seat, biro pen now in hand twirling amongst his fingers. "Well it was when this whole alien craft came up in your interrogations that it clicked in my head. The strike team hadn't reported anything remotely alien on site...apart from the green woman and the lady with the..." Fitz mimed antenna coming out of his forehead like a snail. It was surprising that a green woman was not the most 'alien' looking person he'd seen that day. "...anyway, the question was where was the ship. Answer; either it was still there or it had left without detection. More likely it had left and if so, who took it. They kept on mentioning 'Guardians'. Yet we've only seen those two alien women that could possibly be in this new group. It's possible but I doubt a group called 'The Guardians' would just be two people. Therefore, it's reasonable to assume the rest of their team left the site with the ship. At first I thought it could be cloaking tech so I scanned the site for the usual telltale signs. Wakandan cloaking tech uses hologram pseudoscience but there were no electronic traces on site to suggest one had been active. Stark uses LED projections when he transports his equipment but I couldn't find that either. SHIELD of course use meta materials but even they leave a trace if you know what you're looking for. It was possible that it was alien tech so I scanned for low level radiation. That's when I found the gamma but it was at such low levels that it couldn't be cloaking. It was more of a sign of transmutation. That's when I remember seeing the casefile on Darren Cross and the Yellowjacket project. It was similar in make but far more refined than Cross' method of miniaturization. So I thought to myself, who do we know that created the most successful method of miniaturization?" Fitz typed briefly on his laptop before spinning it around to show Jemma. "I've been monitoring known addresses or places of frequent visit by Dr Pym. So far, nothing. No mini alien ships have been there. But, if we follow your radiation trail then just maybe..."

"I've been monitoring known addresses or places of frequent visit by Dr Pym. So far, nothing. No mini alien ships have been there. But, if we follow your radiation trail then just maybe..."
"...We can pinpoint and ascertain the identities of these other so-called Guardians, and anyone that was riding shotgun with Tony Stark," Jemma surmised, trying out some of the American slang that she'd picked up from Daisy. No doubt it annoyed Fitz, so wedded to the Queen's English, but at least he was here to be annoyed. Even though they both agreed to needing distance after what had happened in the Framework, it just didn't feel right working in the lab without him. The team finally felt whole again, for however long that would last.
"Granted, that will only tell us the Where, but not the Why," Jemma sighed as she directed one of the surveillance programs to follow this unknown craft's flight path as it hopped from one area of satellite coverage to another. "What were they planning to do, while their co-conspirators are trapped here? Our guests have been cooperative so far, but not exactly forthcoming about the imminent threat of this Thanos chap. Gamora, the green woman, told me he was her father, and that he'd engineered her to be a weapon," she informed him. "She's terrified of him, Fitz. So much that she'd rather die than let him find her. She's like the alien version of May; can you imagine how truly horrific something would have to be in order to scare May?"

It's just been varying degrees of annoyed." They each smiled at the other and let silence return to the lab whilst the computer whirred away. Fitz paced back and forth a few times before a lightbulb went off in his head. He fast walked across the room and to an empty desk. Pulling out one of the desk's drawers, he was met with a truly wonderous sight. He drew out an unopened packet of hobnobs and turned to Jemma, holding it above his head in a moment of triumph. "GET IN! They're still here! I left these in there when I had to come here last summer to make sure the security laser grid wasn't affected by the unusually cold temperatures in the Caspian Sea. I was sure that one of those techies would've found them by now." Walking back over to Jemma's side, Fitz ripped open the top of the packet and offered Jemma the first one, waving them slightly to increase levels of temptation. "You know you want tooooo. They're chocolate ones." The moment was interrupted by a sharp beeping from the computer. That could only mean that the tracker had found the location where the ship had released another small burst of gamma radiation upon being returned to normal size. The duo turned to the screen to see where it was.

She sighed and gave him and the cookies a disapproving look. Which melted rather quickly when confronted with the excited glint in his aquamarine eyes and the crinkles in his forehead created by eyebrows raised in expectation. "Well..." Jemma exhaled, reaching into the offered packet. "I suppose there are worse ways to toast the new year than chocolate biscuits. Cheers!"
She allowed him to retrieve his own cookie before clinking the two of them together and taking a bite. "I'd been so focused on these interviews, I didn't even realize it was the new year until Mr. Stark brought it up. He was being a real wanker, by the way," Jemma complained. "I know how much you admire him, Fitz, I do. But to act like he's the only person with the resources and the resolve to save the world. I've done plenty of world-saving, thank you very much. I mean, we have," she added hastily. "Team effort, and all. I cannot wait to see the look on his face when he finds out you saw right through his clever little diversion."
A beep from the computer announced it had found another instance of the Pym particle activation. Jemma zoomed in on the satellite image and began enhancing it. "Looks like it traced the signal to upstate New York," she stated. "Why do those coordinates look familiar?"

Leopold Fitz - tempplay by wesleybucks - "I suppose there are worse ways to toast the new year than chocolate biscuits. Cheers!"They tapped the biscuits together and awkwardly smiled. As Jemma took a bite of hers and began talking, Fitz scoffed the whole thing in one go. He listened intently whilst trying not to choke. "I'd been so focused on these interviews, I didn't even realize it was the new year until Mr. Stark brought it up. He was being a real wanker, by the way."A combination of shocked laughter and coughing on too much hobnob caused Fitz to cover his mouth amid his splutterings to avoid contaminating the entire lab with biscuit spray. "I know how much you admire him, Fitz, I do. But to act like he's the only person with the resources and the resolve to save the world. I've done plenty of world-saving, thank you very much. I mean, we have. Team effort, and all. I cannot wait to see the look on his face when he finds out you saw right through his clever little diversion."
Finally managing to swallow, Fitz gave her a smile and a bow of appreciation. The computer terminal began to chime in announcement of results. Jemma was on it in a flash and began typing. Fitz stood behind her, leaning over her shoulder as the satellite image zoomed in. "Looks like it traced the signal to upstate New York. Why do those coordinates look familiar?""Dunno. There's not that much over in that way. Some forestland I think. I remember Cameron, you remember Cameron Klein? Tech guy who was in our applied sciences class for a semester? Well I think I remember him telling me once that his Uncle has a fishing place out near..." Fitz stopped talking and stared open mouthed at the computer screen. It had finished closing in on the location and the pixels had faded to a crystal clear image. It was the Avengers Facility. For once, the pair of them were utterly lost for words. Fitz's brain was scrambling for some sort of an answer. How could it be there? SHIELD had taken control of the facility after the Sokovia Accords had come into effect and essentially criminalized half of the Avengers...or had they? "Did...did SHIELD take ownership of the Avengers base or was it...was it Stark?" His eyes widened as the computer began automatically playing back the visual of the site at the time of the radiation burst. There it was. Clear as day. A flash of green from within one of the ground level hangers. With a smile he could barely suppress, Fitz turned to Jemma in glee. "We did it! The rest of their group must have gone to their upstate base to asses their options and to gather their resources in preparations for this Thanos bloke. SHIELD clearly isn't in control of the facility but they assisted in constructing the place. Hacking into their closed network should be a piece of..." The door to the lab slammed open. General Ross was marching across the room with a soldier right behind him. A soldier with a very large and very threatening looking gun of some sort. Pure instinct took control and as quickly as he could, Fitz flicked the power button on the screen causing it to onto Jemma's screensaver. He gave her a panicked, wide-eyed look before turning back to the General who had stopped on the other side of the desk. "Well!? I've given you time. You two are meant to be the best minds that SHIELD ever grew. What have you got?"Fitz could feel a sheen of sweat on his brow as he struggled to think of anything to say. Something inside him felt that he couldn't trust Ross. He couldn't explain it. Most likely it has his dark, thunderous eyes boring into his face. Fitz finally understood how the General had gained his nickname. Fitz absentmindedly grabbed a pen from the desk and began to nervously play with it, eyes darting every now and then to the computer screen. The General obviously noticed and stormed around the desk to stand beside them, glancing at the screen. A dark blue police box was materializing on and off the screen. Fitz wished the screensaver was real as it felt like the only escape route...

"Well!? I've given you time. You two are meant to be the best minds that SHIELD ever grew. What have you got?"
The celebration of their discovery was short-lived as Jemma and Fitz suddenly had company in the form of their well-decorated boss and his well-armed escort. So yes, apparently Pym technology had been used once in Norway and then again in New York, at a supposedly decommissioned Avengers facility. An odd trail of breadcrumbs that could lead to who knows where. And just one more thing that the general didn't need to know. Not just yet, anyway.
"Ah, General Ross, how very nice of you to take the time to visit our lab," she beamed politely. She glanced at her partner, hoping for assistance, but found him busy fidgeting with a pen. Jemma then scrambled for a stalling tactic and reached for the nearest science-y looking instrument she could find. "Fitz was just, uh, helping me to recalibrate my ionizer. All the, uh, sea air and barometric variations, they can play havoc with it. And with at least three extraterrestrial lifeforms in close quarters with your crew, we certainly don't want any residual gamma radiation to adversely affect anyone. Look," she instructed, while waving the instrument up and down near Fitz's chest. "See? No residual radiation at all. Phew, that's a relief!"
Jemma tossed the 'ionizer' aside and began to lead the general to another computer terminal. "So I'm afraid I don't have a lot of information on Thanos, this man whose arrival our detainees say is imminent," she began, calling up a screen that resembled a spreadsheet. "But I think I have an idea about what he's after. Gamora and Thor both mentioned that Thanos is trying to obtain infinity stones, ancient artifacts with immense power. SHIELD has at least one in its possession that I've been in close contact with. We both have." Jemma glanced at Fitz, her steady voice and poised stature covering her terror of even mentioning that cursed rock ever again.
She opened the file she was looking for and stood aside to let the general have a closer look. Though she was fairly sure this was not Thanos' objective (only a select group including the Kree and HYDRA even knew of its existence), it was hopefully a believable theory that would keep the general occupied and elsewhere. "A monolith," she explained, "an ancient artifact built by an alien race known as the Kree to facilitate interplanetary travel. The monolith creates a wormhole, a direct line from its location on Earth to a fixed location on an alien planet called Maveth."

Leopold Fitz - tempplay by wesleybucks - "Ah, General Ross, how very nice of you to take the time to visit our lab."Fitz could feel Jemma's eyes drilling into the side of his head. The best he could offer in return was a nervous biting of the lip and an increase in the speed of his pen twirling between his fingers. "Fitz was just, uh, helping me to recalibrate my ionizer."Fitz watched as Jemma plucked up a device from the desk. Their automatic lint roller. Fitz felt his heart in his throat as Jemma presented it with an explanation to the General as if it were some sacred object rather than a motorised device for removing lint from clothing that they had created whilst bored the last time they'd been stationed at the Raft. "All the, uh, sea air and barometric variations, they can play havoc with it. And with at least three extraterrestrial lifeforms in close quarters with your crew, we certainly don't want any residual gamma radiation to adversely affect anyone. Look."Jemma brandished the auto-roller across Fitz's chest. "See? No residual radiation at all. Phew, that's a relief!"
Fitz gave the General a broad smile and extended his arms, almost ready to shout 'ta-da'. Thinking better of it, Fitz caught the lint roller as Jemma chucked it over, taking the General to a different screen. As they stepped away, Fitz discreetly pressed the power button on Jemma's terminal. The Tardis screensaver faded away to once again show the info they'd gathered regarding radiation bursts and the Avenger's upstate facility being used. From his back pocket, Fitz drew out his trusty memory stick. He didn't know for certain why he didn't trust the General but ever since Hydra was revealed to be lurking within SHIELD, he had an innate mistrust of military types. He slotted it into the computer and as fast as he could danced his fingers over the touchpad and started the download. This way, they could keep searching but on their own devices, without having someone staring over their shoulder. He risked a quick look at the others. The General, along with his military goon, was facing away from Fitz and paying attention to whatever nonsense Jemma was saying. "...ancient artifacts with immense power. SHIELD has at least one in its possession that I've been in close contact with. We both have."Jemma looked over to Fitz. Fitz gave her a nod and thumbs up whilst mouthing the words 'keep going'. The download was at 38%. "A monolith. An ancient artifact built by an alien race known as the Kree to facilitate interplanetary travel. The monolith creates a wormhole, a direct line from its location on Earth to a fixed location on an alien planet called Maveth."The soldier gave Fitz a glance with a furrowed brow. Fitz gave him a smile and wave in return, trying to hide the fact that he desperately wanted to pee his pants. "So you're telling me that this 'Thanos' individual, is trying to collect ancient artifacts to gain some sort of mystical powers? Why does he want this mono-doodad? He's an alien. Can't he just travel to this Markef place himself?"The General's tone had not diminished and his moustache was bristling with frustration. He started to turn away from Jemma. A quick look at the screen told Fitz it was 56% downloaded. Wasn't ready quite yet. Without knowing what he was doing or going to say, Fitz jumped forwards. "Well, we don't know what point in space he's starting from. It could be that this Maveth location is several more light years away than Earth is. We also know from the limited data we have of Maveth, that it's weather system is unpredictable and harsh. The atmosphere could be equally difficult to break through. Having a wormhole drop him right where he wants to be would get around any dangerous pockets of...atmospheric pressure." There was a pause in the conversation as the General seemed to digest this, all the while staring directly into Fitz's eyes. Eventually, he turned back to Jemma. "Fine. Get me a current location of this Mono-whatsit. I'll need it transported to a secure location to prevent this Thanos individual from taking it. I'll get on the blower to Tyler Hayward. His response department could be ideal for this. In the meantime, I need confirmation of these other 'infinity stones'. You have 24 hours to get me more answers."With that, the General and his silent slab with a gun left the room. Fitz blew a whistle of relief as the computer pinged to show it had downloaded 100%. Holding his hand up for a high five, Fitz smiled at Jemma. "Nice handling Dr Simmons. I've downloaded everything we've found so far onto the USB. Was thinking we could switch to your laptop rather than the Raft computer terminal to avoid Big Brother catching on to what we're doing...in fact, now we know what we know...what are we doing?"

"Nice handling, Dr. Simmons. I've downloaded everything we've found so far onto the USB. Was thinking we could switch to your laptop rather than the Raft computer terminal to avoid Big Brother catching on to what we're doing...in fact, now we know what we know...what are we doing?"
“You mean, apart from deciding what to wear at my upcoming court-martial?" Jemma huffed, bypassing Fitz's high-five and returning to her computer terminal. "Ugh, I hate lying to men with that many medals; it makes my stomach hurt. He won't be happy when he finds out the current location of that Monolith is in a million pieces. Though I suppose we could tell him about the five pieces that were extracted from the Monolith and distributed among HYDRA leadership. That's not entirely untrue, and really SHIELD should have those remnants secured anyway...."
Jemma paused in her rationalizing long enough to retrieve her personal laptop from her still-unpacked bag and place it on the desk. Once she'd soothed her conscience about diverting the General, she could move on to contemplating their next move. "So presumably this other half of Stark’s team is somehow Avengers-affiliated," she offered, "or they wouldn’t have been able to access that facility in New York. What if Scott Lang is still in possession of Pym tech? After he escaped the Raft, he went dark. It wouldn't be difficult for a man of his background in electronic engineering to keep himself off the grid. But what if Ant-Man and Iron Man are on the same side now?"
Jemma began pulling up personnel files. "I think we should reach out to Hope Van Dyne," she explained. "She's the power behind Pym Technologies right now. I’m sure she wouldn’t want another surprise-slash-PR disaster like what happened at Leipzig-Halle Airport. If someone's shrinking and enlarging alien spaceships willy-nilly, she'd probably want to know."

Leopold Fitz - tempplay by wesleybucks - “You mean, apart from deciding what to wear at my upcoming court-martial?"Jemma moved quickly past Fitz, ignoring his high-five. Immediately he moved his hand to scratch his head as if he'd been intending on doing so the whole time. Fitz ignored the tightening in his chest that her ignoring of the high-fave gave him and turned around to watch her at her computer terminal. She wasn't wrong. Fitz couldn't imagine that someone like Ross would be happy upon learning about the wild goose chase they'd led him on. Jemma brought her laptop out, dropped it on her desk and continued, still not looking at Fitz. "So presumably this other half of Stark’s team is somehow Avengers-affiliated or they wouldn’t have been able to access that facility in New York. What if Scott Lang is still in possession of Pym tech? After he escaped the Raft, he went dark. It wouldn't be difficult for a man of his background in electronic engineering to keep himself off the grid. But what if Ant-Man and Iron Man are on the same side now?"
"I think it unlikely that someone like Tony Stark would need the help of..." "I think we should reach out to Hope Van Dyne. She's the power behind Pym Technologies right now. I’m sure she wouldn’t want another surprise-slash-PR disaster like what happened at Leipzig-Halle Airport. If someone's shrinking and enlarging alien spaceships willy-nilly, she'd probably want to know."Finally, Jemma looked up at him. Why had it taken her so long? Was she angry at him for not telling the General the truth? No, she clearly was on the same wavelength when it came to that as she was happily not confiding in Ross. Why had she interrupted him? She probably hadn't heard him talking. He did have a tendency to mumble. Why was she staring at him? Oh god. She'd stopped talking. She was waiting for him to talk. He could feel the pen spinning between his fingers like a propeller. What was she thinking? WHY DIDN'T SHE HIGH-FIVE HIM? "YES!" Fitz finally spoke, or rather yelled, out the word. "I mean, yes I agree. Presumably SHIELD and others have tried to track Scott Lang already. However, they may not have tried to track him using the Pym Particle radiation signature. And you're right. Hope Van Dyne is a good port of call. I'll have a look at Lang, you can check Van Dyne." Fitz turned his back to her as he focused on his own laptop. His desktop background flashed up to meet him. A ceramic plate styled to look like the Millennium Falcon. Upon which sat a sandwich filled with prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella with a hint of homemade pesto aioli. The perfect sandwich. Fitz opened the SHIELD database and made his way through it until he reached the section containing witness protection and house arrest. Fitz remembered hearing that Hawkeye had been placed under house arrest after Germany. Perhaps Lang had suffered the same fate?He began cycling through the list. Clint Barton, Max Brashear, Russell Collins, Ian Ilson, Joseph Jennings and several other names flashed past. Boom. Scott Lang. Fitz opened the case file and began to scan through it. It sadly was not large and was already down as being closed. It appeared Scott had told SHIELD he would be willing to go under house arrest. He had even been assigned an FBI agent to give him regular house calls. However, that had been whilst he was still a prisoner on the Raft. It seemed that after Captain America busted him out, Scott had apparently forgotten his house arrest agreement and had vanished from the radar. Fitz switched tactics and drew up a satellite image of Scott Lang's San Francisco home. Setting it on a cycle from the date Scott escaped the Raft, Fitz watched closely to see any sign of the telltale green burst of radiation. It took a minute or so but there was no trace. Scott may have visited his home but there was no sign of Pym particles being used there. Fitz turned back to Jemma. "Nothing on Lang. He's managed to avoid any sort of SHIELD detection. No sign of Pym Particles at his home. Without any other clue as to where to look, I don't know where to scan for Pym Particle use. Any luck with Van Dyne?"

Jemma used her cellphone to dial the contact number for Miss Van Dyne that was in her SHIELD personnel file, but of course it couldn't be that easy. "Straight to voicemail. She's likely to be out of the office for the holiday but if not, I'll start running the CCTV footage near the company headquarters and her home with facial recognition. And if she were traveling, she wouldn't fly commercial," Jemma said, more in thinking out loud as her fingers tapped the keyboard. "Corporate jets still have to file a flight plan with the FAA, so I'll start checking the logs of San Francisco and Oakland. See if any private jets had her on their manifest in the last week."
Once her laptop was powered on and fully woken up, several notification pings began popping up in the lower right corner. Jemma clicked on one out of curiosity and saw a group of smiling faces in party hats holding full champagne glasses, while one of the women planted a kiss on an iconic red and gold helmet. The caption read: New Year's Eve Party, Iron Man in Da House -- 2017 Going Out with a Bang!!
"Oh, look, the pictures from Tony Stark's New Year's Eve party are starting to hit Instagram. I suppose our invitation got lost in the mail." She looked over to offer Fitz a dramatically sad frown, but his attention was elsewhere. Or perhaps occupied with other thoughts. He'd been so distant since they'd escaped the Framework, mentally and physically, and she certainly didn't want to push a conversation that he wasn't ready to have.
"I'd rather be here anyway," Jemma declared. She stepped closer and placed a hand gently aside his cheek, lifting up slightly on her feet in order to kiss him. For a moment, she closed her eyes and tried to focus on the blissful feeling of his lips on hers. She finally pulled away and smiled, happy just to hold his gaze for a bit longer. "Happy New Year, Fitz. I've missed you."
