HereOctober 10th 1993 - Berkeley College || Sophomore year
Vivian was late for study hall and she knew her partner would be waiting for her. Vivian’s college life was a mess lately, she seemed to always be running late. Her eyes were glued to a paper as she sped down the hall and she slipped, books spilling out everywhere. “Crap,” Kneeling down she quickly started to gather her belongings.
“Oh hey, let me help.” Vivian was about to tell the person she was fine but she paused when she looked into those beautiful eyes. Those deep pools, “Helping usually means the other helps,” The girl teased and Vivian blushed before pulling her gaze away.
“Um, thank you, I’m Vivian Waters.”
“Kathy Dobson,” Kathy extended her hand and Vivian took it with a smile.
“Dobson, you're the daughter of Doctor Richard Dobson?”
“Yes, that is me. My whole family is in the medical field and I decided to join the ranks.” Kathy handed Vivian the last of her papers and smiled. “I might be a Dobson but unlike some I don’t have a 3.9 GPA.” Vivian blushed and shook her head.
“I might have a high GPA but trust me being second in the whole school isn’t all that.”
“Try being the first,” Vivian’s eyes closed and her fist clenched, she suppressed the growl that tried to escape. “Hello, Vivvy, you’re looking well.”
“Liza, as are you.”
“Oh, so you know each other?” Kathy could see just how tense Vivian was around Eliza.
“Yes, we met in freshman year of highschool. She’s mad because I’m better at everything, pity really.” Eliza grinned wickedly.
“I don’t hate you because you are better, I hate you because you think you’re god's gift to mankind.” Vivian snapped back with a forced smile.
“I would pretend that hurt my feelings but I really don't care.” Eliza smile and turned to Kathy, “You really shouldn’t associate yourself with the lower class, Kat, it doesn’t become you.” Vivian was about to charge when Kathy put her hand on Vivian’s shoulder and sighed.
“And you know that I love you, Eliza, but we will never see the world in the same eyes. I will associate with anyone I wish and I know deep down you will accept that.” Vivian waited for Eliza to explode but all she did was laugh and wrap her arms around Kathy.
“Oh, Kat, you are always good for a laugh. Well, I love to stay and chat but I got a test. Enjoy your time with Vivvy, teach her to have a sense of humor.” Eliza left and Vivian was left shooting steam from her ears.
“How can you stand her?” Vivian said through gritted teeth.
“She’s a family friend, we’ve been friends since diapers.” Vivian felt Kathy cup her chin and her jaw loosened and her teeth released. She opened her eyes to see Kathy’s staring into hers, “You shouldn’t let her see you get upset, she thrives off it.” Vivian was blushing again.
“Easy for you to say, she’s nice to you.” Vivian smirked and slung her bag over her shoulder. “Thank you for standing up for me, I hope we see each other again.”
“Maybe we can study sometime?” Kathy took a step closer, which made Vivian’s blush only deepen.
“But were not in any of the same classes.”
“Not the kind of studying I was thinking about,” Kathy leaned in and kissed her lips, a single linger kiss. “Think about it,” she whispered against her lips before running off in the other direction.
