So after wondering at the end of the last ep if Claire was still pregnant, we got our answer! I do wonder why she has no memory though. Is it due to trauma over whatever she went through while taken? Did Ethan do something to her to make her forget, drug or something?
Speaking of Ethan, man is that dude creepy as hell!! On top of that, he's really freakin' strong. He held Charlie up off the ground by the throat and toward the end, Jack gave him one hell of a beating and he got up like it barely affected him. Why is that? Does he have extensive fight training or is it something more?
Charlie tries his best to take care of people and most of the time, it goes wrong. It could be because nobody was ever there to take care of him so he doesn't know the right way to go about taking care of a person. In the flashbacks, it was unfortunate because it started off as a heroin addict's con but he ended up developing real feelings for Lucy. Her dad really struck a cord with him when he talked about giving up his band life to do something more solid and dependable in order to take care of his family. Charlie wanted that and he did try but he was just still too deep into his addiction. Until he gets clean, heroin will always sneak in as the priority, hence his stealing the Winston cigarette case.
Actually, I'm not so sure he intended to take the job for real. I think he may have been planning to disappear but then Lucy insisted on driving him to the job but still, he could have taken off after she dropped him off. Instead, he went in and continued with the presentation. I highly doubt Lucy would have walked him in as that would be very unusual and unprofessional. "Hi, I'm the sales rep here to do a presentation and this is my girlfriend who dropped me off. She's leaving now." Yah, weird.
Poor Steve. Er, I mean Scott.
That was so creepy, when we found out they didn't catch Ethan because he'd come in from the water and not only did he kill Scott, he tortured him first. Broke his arms, all his fingers, then I'm sure his neck last. Killing someone is enough of a message to scare the hell out of people but breaking all those bones? Ethan was definitely psychotic.
So again, that makes you wonder why he wanted Claire so badly? Just a random psychopath's obsession with the first person he may have fixated on or was it because she was pregnant or resembled someone he knew?
Locke is way more badass than you'd expect anyone who'd been a wheelchair bound desk jockey for a box company. The knives he brought for a walkabout was crazy but the fact he really knows how to handle a gun is even crazier. I do not think you'd need a gun on a walkabout so why and how did he learn to use a gun so well?
I so loved the scene where Charlie was giving the copier presentation! It was extra hilarious for myself and my family when it first aired because at the time, my sister was selling copiers! I'll probably giggle tomorrow at work when I go to lift the lid of the copier to make a copy of something.
If you can't find a trashcan, head for your nearest copier, lmao!
I do agree that it's entertaining to watch Sawyer being a snarky smartass but it's also nice to see him put in his place. When he was joking about where he'd gotten his gun and then jokingly describing the marshal, Jack straight up put him in his place and I think it's good for Sawyer as he tends to get carried away.
It was also a very interesting dynamic to see how Sawyer and Jack dealt with Kate wanting to help capture Ethan. Jack was protective and didn't want her to go and I think Sawyer gave Kate the marshal's gun more out of spite toward Jack than because Kate wanted to help. I wonder how Sawyer would have reacted if Jack hadn't been there. If Kate had gone to Sawyer privately and asked for his gun because she wanted to join the Ethan hunt, would he have given it to her or would he have tried to talk her out of it?
I was so shocked when we suddenly heard six gunshots and saw Ethan fall down dead. I thought for sure that they'd keep him prisoner somehow and was even more surprised when it was Charlie. Well, kind of surprised. That look on his face! Man, this was insanely personal and he doesn't seem to have any kind of remorse for taking the life. He truly believed he did the right thing and I kind of agree. I think he was right in the fact that Ethan was a monster and that he wouldn't have told him anything. Seeing as how efficient and well adapted Ethan was to the island, it was more likely he would have escaped and killed a hell of a lot of people.
So what do you all think of Shannon and Sayid? Or Shayid as the ship is called.
Looks like there's a little romance blooming there and I think Sayid would help to make her a better person. Just that little scene at the end of her tending to his wounds, the look on her face and her demeanor seem so much better. I think it's Boone that brings out the worst in her and I don't necessarily think it's Boone's fault. He just reminds her of what it is that has pushed her to becoming the person she is.
Favorite scenes/quotes:
Lucy: It was Winston Churchill's. Dad collects all sorts of rubbish from teh great leaders of the empire. Hey, you should meet him.
Charlie: Winston? No thanks. I heard he's quite moldy.
Sawyer: So Steve drew the short straw.
Hurley: Dude, that was Scott.
Hurley: (giving the eulogy for Scott) Sorry, I kept calling you Steve, man. Um, amen, I guess. I... I don't know how to end these things...
Charlie's whole copier presentation scene
Sawyer: (Sawyer gets a gun out of his tent.) Lifted this off the Marshal back in the old days. Remember him, don't you? Surly guy, kind of square of jaw, carries a Sig 9.
Jack: Yeah, I remember you shot him. And missed.
