After a long 28 years of living in a frozen moment in time within the magic bubble that had protected Maleficent, Killian, and Phillip from being swept away from the curse, unaging and each day seemingly the same as before, the anticipated crack in the curse has finally arrived.
The world outside the bubble unfreezes and comes back to life, signaling that time has begun moving.
Three days later, Maleficent receives the signal that Charlie, the girl once known to this land as Rose, has placed the necklace enchanted by Maleficent around her neck. The crack in the curse allows a weak strain of magic to pulse through from the land where the cursed residence had been taken, giving Maleficent, Killian, and Phillip a chance of locating them.

Two days had passed, giving them a sense of hope while at the same time had brought nothing yet but still a life in a cage. The time had begun moving, but they couldn't be moving anywhere. Not without a course. It gave Killian a heartache to see the Jolly Roger anchoring there at the shore, day in, day out, waiting for another adventure just like himself. Yes, a man's ship was a personalized item in a pirate's head. Many a sailor had chosen their ship over a fair maiden even. However, on the third day, the waiting should finally come to an end.
Killian and Phillip were, as was often the case, passing their time with swordplay, one of the few things that kept them feel alive while they could do nothing but wait for the promised sign.
"Good form.", he commented on his friend's brilliant fightback. "But lemme ask you a question, my friend." And then, looking like he was going to end their duel, Killian suddenly rushed forward to turn the tables and finish with a trick. Probably a feint that would have cost Phillip's last breath if this was a matter of life and death. "When do you learn that a pirate ain't play fair?" He chuckled, about to offer his hand to help Phillip getting back to his feet when something made him pause in the middle of his movement - a green light, pulsing through the land outside the bubble.
Twenty-eight years Killian had been waiting for the day to hold the love of his life back in his arms, and, for once, a pirate didn't mean his ship with that.
A hightly tone in his voice and his one hand placed on Phillip's shoulder, Killian said: "Looks like we got our course, mate."

Time stood still for a long while and Philip was rightfully confused. Living every day waiting for the moment he could find his Rose. He had been so close to getting her back when the Evil Queen cast her curse, if not for Maleficent they would have surely been lost to it.
"Good form." Hook had been a welcome distraction, teaching him things not taught in his royal training. He learned much his time away from home, but these new techniques would give him a leg up. Hook could have ended his life right there, luckily they were friends and this was just training. "When do you learn that a pirate ain't play fair?"
"Good always prevails, Captain. I think that lesson has been learned many times," Philip held his strike when Hook paused, "Not say-" he was about to go on when he caught that last flash of green light- Rose.
"Looks like we got our course, mate."
"We need to see Maleficent," Philip sheathed his sword and led the way to Maleficent's home.
When the curse started to sweep the land, they were already at the forbidden fortress. In a panic Maleficent took them to the Moores, behind her castle was a vast wood area- protected by the creatures that resided there. Once inside the safety of the Moores she sealed it closed with bramble and thorns and cast the protection bubble over them and the castle; It sealed them away and protected them from the curse Regina cast.
The wonders of the Moores were unlike anything Philip had seen. "Maleficent..."
"We must depart quickly, we must find Rose."

Maleficent was responsible for many mistakes in her lifetime, some she would change but others she would do again. Her friendship with Regina was special to her but she regretted tutoring her. Showing her the ways of magic, unknowingly as The Dark One did the same- it was a deadly combination. Regina's heart was as black as her own, yet over time Maleficent had softened and her heart healed in time.
She had done all she could to change the young Queen's mind but to no avail. She was convinced Regina would kill her in that chamber but to her surprise, she was left to her own device. Shortly after that, The pirate and prince came to her aid and freed her.
They began the plan to save Rose but before they could act, the curse started to sweep the land.
Maleficent had already planned for this and was ready to cast her protection. She saved them by taking them to the Moores, the magic there would help protect them. She sealed them in and cast the protection bubble over her castle and the forest, protecting them all and her family. She had made her amends overtime when the anger and bitterness started to leave her.
Introducing Rose to the Moores had been the best decision she made. It started to make things right and then Rose left and Maleficent withdrew; she left the girl with a parting gift. A necklace that would always allow Maleficent to find her, it's power had been silent for many years- until now.
"Maleficent..."
"I know, we must depart quickly, we must find Rose."

"We need to see Maleficent,"
And even before Killian could have agreed with only a nod, the prince was already rushing ahead, leading the way to the castle. It seemed somebody was just as much in anticipation to see his love back as he was himself. Twenty-eight years was a long time, and Killian surely wasn't looking forward to adding any more years to it but would always wait another twenty-eight years if, in the end, it meant to be with Henrietta again. Any fling he'd ever had, and there might have been one or two, were nothing compared to this woman.
Although in a rush, Killian couldn't help but marvel at the sight of the beautiful landscape around them - The Moores, homeland of Maleficent, their rescuer. She surely was a misunderstood being, even though she'd been living up to her bad reputation for many years. Killian hadn't met with her in those times, but that was, at least, what he'd heard.
"Maleficent..." Philip addressed the dark fairy once they were through the castle's door while Killian, for now, remained quiet in the background.
"I know, we must depart quickly, we must find Rose."
"Aye, the Jolly Roger is ready whenever you are.", Killian finally said with determination, assuming that the sign would give them an accurate location.

"Aye, the Jolly Roger is ready whenever you are."
Phillip nodded at Killian as he looked to Maleficent whose complexion was just as alarmed as theirs. The Prince was just as anxious to sweep everyone into the ship and set sail, especially since they have somewhat of a course set for them. Holding up his shield and sword in front of him, he lead their way back on the path towards where they had landed the ship. Nothing or no one could get in their way as new fires ignited in all of their hearts.
"Those green lights - could you see where they are leading us? Where Rose is?" Phillip threw the question over his shoulder as his gaze turned to look at Maleficent.
Maleficent's dark strands of hair moved around her frowning chin as she shook her signature horns in a negative fashion, "Wherever our darling Rose may be, she is trapped far beyond our realm. We won't know until we receive a second signal. All I could read from the first is that we must travel northwest - and we must make haste." Maleficent did not intend to instill any sort of fear that something bad had happened to Rose. However, with the chaos that Regina had unleashed, she couldn't help but to fear the worst.
As the Prince faced his course forward again, the ship was finally brought back into sight. Philip couldn't stop playing the last moment he had seen her over in his head. It had been a very long time, but Rose's sweet, blushed smile and dazzling doll-like eyes graced his mind and he hoped to hold onto his memory of her for as long as he possibly could. Until they met again.
