Okay, shiny, I could send Inara out to search for Kaylee. Where shall she find her? Engine room?

Oh, and I forgot to mention about Wendy. I'm still waiting to hear from Pickett. He's the only other person left on the Father Dure ship and if he's not coming back to RP, then it's gonna be practically impossible to play Wendy. In the meantime, we could definitely get some RP action going on Serenity!

<sigh> Give me some background on what's going on and I'll come up with something for the stuffed shirt doctor and the cheerfully child like pilot.

Lets see... We're still the same night Early caused a mess on Serenity. Everyone was dealing with it in their own way. Wash & Zoe turned in for the night in their bunk, Kaylee & Inara possibly gonna have a talk (Engine room), Mal was alone (His Bunk), Jayne & Book are talking (Cargo Bay), Simon nodded off in the Infirmary and River just kinda disappeared (Last seen in the Infirmary).

River became the ship again.... Lol, nah, we had a short term player. If we all kinda pitch in to temp-play some of the characters, we can maybe start to get somewhere until we get some gorram people over here to take over them full time. I'm still waiting to hear from J. I haven't seen him online at all on here or FB in weeks.

I love it! I hadn't though River would try that again so soon lol. I'm trying to figure out how I can help get the word out. I don't know many writers :-( pretty much the only one I know is already on here! I'm happy to temp jayne though, do we still have Book?
p.s. Just re-watched Objects in space. Before Early snuck aboard, Serenity was heading to New Melbourne only long enough to "pick up cargo" which was were Inara was contemplating leaving the crew when they arrived despite Mal's warning that all there was to do there was gut sturgeon lol

Okay that tells me where everybody is but how far back into the thread do I need to read to know what is going on? My lazy gene is expressing itself and I'd rather get somebody else to do the work.... lol

There's not much that's happened, Cav. We're just having the characters interact. No really important plotsy stuff. As far as if we still have a Book, I still don't know. I'm not getting an answer from J so I'm guessing not. Then again, I've only seen him on FB once in months and only for a very short time. I'm gonna try one more time. After that, I'm going to assume he's out.

Quick thought, any idea's on what Serenity was supposed to pick up on New Melbourne after "objects in space"? try as I might there is no mention of it beyond that they had something waiting for them or what they where supposed to do with it once they got it so we might as well have fun with it!

I honestly don't remember. I do have the graphic novel of what happens between the show and the movie but it's been so long since I read it. I only remember them defeating the Hands of Blue. But really, since we started the RPG where the show ended, it's up to us where this goes. We need to just try to get all players in the game. Everyone from the Father Dure is gone now and I don't wanna drop Wendy so I gotta get her off the ship. Last thing we were doing is trying to track down Serenity because Wendy is hoping Simon can help her. There's also Cavanaugh. We did work out something about Wendy and Cavanaugh knowing each other from a past run-in where one had helped the other or each other. We don't really have details worked out on it but I think we were going to try to get Cav in involved by having Wendy ask him for his help in tracking down Serenity. Any ideas, everyone? Perhaps they can all end up meeting on New Melbourne?

Yeah I haven't had a chance to really go through them since I lost my viewer (the comics are in a weird format) But from the synopsis of the lot of them it skips over the New Melbourne mission so it is up to us, which I just look at as an opportunity for mischief! New Melbourne sounds like a good meeting spot to me. Here's what I was thinking to draw Serenity there, let me know what you think!
A smuggler pulls in for fuel and supplies but winds up needing some repairs. It's gonna take too long and the goods need to move so they put out a call for someone to pick up the second leg of the trip. Why serenity? Because the other captain is Mal's friend Monty, needs the favor. He could have a cameo and who knows maybe someone will want to pick him up too. Thoughts? of course we still need to figure out what the goods are and where they need to go. and we could link up with Wendy and Cav to boot. All roads lead to Rome! or in this case... New Melbourne.

Ah, good ol' Monty. Such good friends that they even share a wife. Sounds great to me! We need to get Cav in on the convo to see if we can work something out to get him and Wendy to New Melbourne.

read my post above, thats what i was thinking for the crew, Heidi also has another character (Wendy) from another ship she is trying to get to link up since she needs Simon's help with a medical condition. We just discuss things in this thread about where we want the story to go ahead of time so we have a direction on the ship. its a collaboration as opposed to one person calling the shots.

So the goods definitely need to be parishable.... Second leg of the trip could inadvertainly run close to an alliance check point which could give opertunity for some trouble.. or maybe run close to a bad area which is run by cartels and given serenitys notoriety perhaps somebody comes after our crew on a planet in persuit of some turf situation... Just some thoughts

I've reached out to Cavanaugh about perhaps having him and his ship help her to get to New Melbourne. Cavanaugh has a past connection to Serenity (long story that unfolded in the first RPG we had going but basically, they worked together for awhile once). Cav and I have been talking about Wendy and Cav having worked together once in the past so when she digs deep to try and find out where Serenity will be, she thinks her best bet is to reach out to Cav for help.

That plan sounds "solid" to me, lets hope cav reaches out so you can make it "fact" no more gossip lol somebody should totally bring niska back, we need a villian eventually. anyways id be happy to temp a villian so we could have some trouble on our upcoming mission. i like that idea chris, alliance trouble always sounds intriguing to me. could give the hands of blue a lead on us too :-O

Irrefutable rumours says that the current gossip is the there is a potential for the possibility of maybe there being a slight chance that Cavanaugh might have heard vague whispers about somebody maybe possibly needing him for something.

Lmao! You definitely have potential to be a politician! If only you didn't have a heart, soul, remorse, respect for others.... Just too much working against you. But back to plots-y stuff. Okay, so we need to know exactly how Niska is going to go about tracking down Serenity. I've been chattering with Mal/Kevin and he thinks (as do I) that Niska would probably reach out to many of the people who have already done a job for him to offer a bounty to find Serenity. They have done the unforgivable by damaging his reputation and we all know how he is about his reputation! Oh! Speaking of bounty hunters, I just had an interesting thought. I don't believe they ever specifically said that Jubal Early was trying to collect a bounty from the Alliance. I don't think they said who he took the job from. I just did an interwebs search and they don't mention it either. They just say he's a bounty hunter. What if the bounty he was trying to collect was offered by Niska? I'm sure he'd outbit whatever bounty the Alliance has on River and Simon in order to ensure he gets them. Another interesting tidbit I came across in my search: "In an interview, Joss Whedon stated that Early definitely survived the encounter, and that he "loves that character"." If we decide that Early was working for the bounty posted by Early and not the Alliance, we could also maybe say that Niska first contacted him. Maybe it's even Niska's team who finds Early floating in the black (tracker in his suit, maybe?). Indirectly bested again, he decides to put out the word of a bounty to a majority of the people who have done work for him. Thoughts? Ideas? Cookies?

Genius! Not only would that put Early back in the running but it would also give Niska's people a heading to cut Serenity off at New Melbourne, Jubal would have been able to glean that from their course setting. So attached to Niska's most recent wave would be an addendum that they where last scene heading for New Melbourne.

Plus, if he had a tracker in his suit, could be that Niska had another team on their way as a back-up. They could get to Jubal in time and also be that much closer to Serenity. We could also say that Jubal didn't know a tracker had been placed on his suit if we wanted. A fail safe in case something went wrong, which it did! Not that Niska could give a crap about Jubal but anything to help him track down that gorram ship.

I like the idea of him not even knowing he's being tracked. And Niska is absolutely that paranoid. Especially if he thought Jubal might fail, he'd still have another landmark to chase Mal from.

There are a few ways that Niska could go about finding Serenity. The easiest is to use a shell company to hire the ship to run a cargo for him. It wouldn't be too big a paycheque; that would be an obvious trap. Serenity has to make money, so they would have to take one of Niska's bait jobs eventually. The problem with a large scale bounty hunt is that word gets out. Somebody would find out and tip off the Serenity crew.
As far as Early is concerned, his ship was floating nearby. He was a sociopath but he was also intelligent, so he might have been able to figure out some way to get back to his ship, even if it meant putting a small hole in his space suit and turning himself into a mini-air powered rocket. If he was fast, he'd be able to make it back into his airlock before he ran out of air. As I recall, although it has been a while, Early was looking for River. That seems like an Alliance bounty, rather than a Niska bounty. As far as the value of the bounty is concerned, the Alliance had MUCH deeper pockets than Niska and a far greater stake in keeping her quite than Niska has in revenge.

Niska wouldn't be concerned with word getting back to Mal because that would make him nervous. Knowing there was a bounty large enough to make anybody either turn on him or distance themselves from him is exactly the kind of torture Niska wants him to endure. He wants to ruin Mal mind, body, and soul.
And unfortunately for him, Early's ship wasn't floating nearby. At the end of the episode as river drifts back to serenity you can see the ship power up on auto and fly away. He is going to need someone to bail him out of that sticky situation. And while its likely it was an alliance bounty, its never confirmed on screen so we can take some liberties.
And now Niska does want River. He doesn't know why but he does know more than the average hunter, just how much the alliance does want her. 200,000 was the amount and while they have near limitless pockets I'm sure, they are being cheapskates. Niska can at least beat that amount. Then not only does he get Mal and the crew but he can trade River off to the alliance for something far greater than money.
Last and not least it wouldn't be a galaxy wide bounty, I'm thinking just amongst his previous contacts since he would not want the alliance finding out he is after River. Knowing the lengths they would go to, he wouldn't want to give the alliance an excuse to bang down his door to silence him too. He is lacking in that kind of manpower.
**Amendment** But I'll say this, having the shell company (love it) is a good idea! There's gonna be that bounty eventually but that is a better way to kick off the hunt.

Niska gets Serenity AND has River to pass along. Makes sense. Cobblestone Road II has one (1) cavalry trick up her sleeve. It's not a combat ready ship but it certainly still has the profile of a military vessel. If that is any use on a mission, I'm sure Cav's arm could be twisted. Or, you know, tell him Inara is in danger.
There is a plan afoot to use him to hook Wendy up with the Serenity crew anyway at this point, if I recall correctly.
