Well, Cav is currently bored and without cargo. He's got a little cashy money in his pocket, so he's not urgently in need of cash but he's not going to rest on his laurels too long. If she needs a trip from A to B, he's her man.

Okay, so Wendy needs to find Serenity, like, whoa right? So she can get her medicine from Simon. So I think before we can go any farther, we need to figure out how Wendy knows where Serenity is headed so she can meet them at New Melbourne.

Alright I've had an idea, hopefully to put this to rest. How about Wendy receives an anonymous transmission telling her "You will find what your looking for on New Melbourne". She would know what it means. Whats behind it is that would then put her and river in the same place at the same time. The hands of blue could nab them both, two birds with one stone. They already know River and Simon are on serenity which I found out reading "Those left behind". if we want to go with early working on an alliance bounty then he could have radioed in that he found them just before he boarded serenity, giving them the heading. its a trap. bing bang boom. how bout it?

Sounds shiny! Wendy's got some friends on the anti-Alliance side. I'll just do a Wendy post having someone there contact her and it'll actually tie in nicely with her ditching the ship she's on. I'll just have the person mention that they saw her pop up on Alliance Wanted list and that if he/she could have found out her whereabouts this easily, it won't be long until the Alliance finds her so she figures it's not the best of ideas to be travelling with people from your past. That's kinda the first place you look for someone in hiding.
First though, we need Serenity to get that New Melborne job. Is it going to be a trap set by Niska?

That would give Wendy and Cav a chance to play cavalry.

What I meant above was that the message you could get would be anonymous but its from the hands of blue, setting you and river up. Its your call though, just to keep the conflict present though at least they should hear that message from your alliance friend and meet you there. Kinda makes more sense that it would be their trap instead of Niska this soon. That way Niska can do his shell company plot to lure them into his hands. Gives us plenty of immediate and long term problems for the crew

Oooh, I vaguely remember "Those Left Behind". It's been a long time since I read it but that's where the Hands of Blue found them and the crew got rid of them once and for all, right? Makes sense that if Wendy helped with vanquishing them, they'd all her on board for Simon's help.
Wow, we have a lot of options right now! Honestly, I'm fine with whichever but either way, it does make sense that Wendy would be fairly easily tracked down.
I'm gonna leave this up for a majority vote. Should it be anonymous tip that turns out it's a trap by Hands of Blue so we can do that final stand-off?

Yeah I'm all for majority as well :-) its still fresh in my mind so i was thinking it could be something like this.
1. Wendy gets anonymous call 2. Rendezvous with serenity 3. attacked by the hands of blue 4. escape
after that they would no longer have any leads on Simon, River, or Wendy. which would then leave off exactly for the canon story of "Those Left Behind". In that the hands of blue turned to Dobson because he had a plan. They needed him to pick up the trail. So we wouldn't have to kill them off just yet. They can live to cause us grief another day lol

Sounds great! Cav - How do you want to approach this? I was thinking that Wendy comes across info that Cav had worked with Serenity in the past and decides to contact him to cash in on a favor he owes her. I'm not sure how willing he'd be to help her find Serenity. Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss it further.

The Cav-Serenity link is tenuous at best. The easiest connection I can see would be through <runs off to check backstory> the O'MaLley's. They would be one of few sources that would know of any connection between Serenity and the Cobblestone Road II. Or the Weasel, aka Badger.
Of course how she finds out is irrelevant. I'm game to go with what we have. As far as my vote is concerned, anything that eliminates loose ends has my backing.

We don't have to go into the details of Wendy and Cav's past and why he owes her a huge favor but as far as the connection from Cav to Serenity, it wouldn't be anything prominent. He'd just be on a long list of people that Serenity has worked with or crossed paths with. I was thinking that it's not in Alliance records but on some random unimportant document in the Independent's archives. More of an archive of Independents friendly ships and the people they've worked with. We are the only two that were a part of the previous RPG and this one is a new one that would be too hard to expect everyone to link to the old one but the old one is a great backstory for you and I to go off of. But, forgive my bad memory, wasn't there a huge to-do on floating out in space Casino complex that involved Serenity and the help of Cav? Or was Cav not involved in that? I think that might have been noteworthy enough to leave at least a footnote in some records.

Inara was going to be kidnapped by the triad and Cav was going to bring the cavalry to rescue her, I think mainly because his ship wasn't the Serenity, if I recall correctly. Things stalled before it could happen though. Last few posts were, I think, Cav and Inara sharing a picnic on Beaumont.
We can take the situation as having occurred. Atherton Wing hired the triad to kidnap her so he could win back her good graces by 'rescuing' her from their heavily fortified casino/brothel space station. The Serenity crew attempted the rescue and Atherton just couldn't keep from gloating to Mal, when the attempt seemed about to fail. Cav knew where to find parts to re-arm his ship and, although it first seemed that he was going to leave Serenity high and dry, showed up at the last minute, towing drones to make it look like there was an entire squadron of ships coming in for the attack. Atherton, typically, showed his true colours and bolted. The triad, clearly displeased with being left holding the bag in the face of what looked like an Alliance assault squadron, were more than willing to point their fingers at him and let everyone go.
Sound reasonable? It would certainly link the Cobblestone Road II to Serenity.

Wow, that brought back a flood of memories! Thanks for that! Extremely helpful. Since it was kind of a big to-do, I would say that it may have showed up as a blip on Alliance records but filed away as unimportant since it didn't involve the Alliance. Either that or Atherton, little spoiled weasel that he is, tried to lodge a complaint by spinning a different version of that story to the Alliance and they did the protocol filing of report and waved him off as another spoiled man-child of a wealthy family attempting to cause trouble for someone who dared to not let him have his way. Filed away in Miscellaneous - Temper Tantrums, lol.

I love it.
Sounds like a plan. Gives him a reason to hate Cav too.

Cav has a ship already and there are just enough issues between Mal and Cav to make working together for long periods of time not a likely prospect. Being on the opposite sides of a war and actively (unknowingly) trying to kill each other on Serenity can do that. And then there is Inara....

It's in Cav's history. He's from the OLD rp thread. His ship broke down and the Serenity helped him out. Zoe recognized the name of the ship as being the same as one of the tanks (technically a mobile artillery platform) that she and Mal faced on planet Serenity. While Cav was occupied on Serenity, Zoe and Jayne snuck aboard his ship to search it and found his medical discharge papers. She confronted him and he answered honestly, neither apologizing or trying to act superior. It was one old soldier talking to another.
I can find the links for you so you can read the old posts.

Hey guys! I'm still here. I was waiting for someone besides the three of us to post. Where is Miss Amelia and what happened to our Jayne?
I was kinda afraid of getting a lot of posts up between our three characters and the others feeling really behind but I just don't know if the others have disappeared for good or what??

Well, eventually. It'd be nice to have a player for each of the characters but we probably don't definitely need him until Wendy is on Serenity. Even then, we don't have to play out those scenes if we don't have a Simon. Wendy can just summarize to someone or everyone or whatever...
