And the second half is just as amazing as the first. Things get even more interesting and Charlie sums it up quite well... "Guys, where are we?" Yes, where is this crazy island of polar bears and a thing ripping pilots out of cockpits? 1,000 miles off course and the transmission running for 16 years and 5 months. You guys better get comfortable because it looks like it's gonna be a loooong stay, much to our enjoyment! There's, not so much. I really love and am amazed by the way they shot the plane crash from all those different angles. Everything matches up perfectly no matter who's viewpoint you get it from. It just goes to show how much care they put into this. One small theory I formed at the beginning of this ep when Walt found the handcuffs was that it had to be Sawyer. He's just the type you'd expect and when it was revealed that Kate was the one being escorted by the marshal back to the states, I was surprised and so intrigued to find out what she had done. On rewatching, I noticed hints in the Pilot: Part 1 that she was the one in handcuffs. When she's walking through the jungle and comes across Jack who needs to be sewn up, you see her rubbing her wrists. There's also Walt looking at that comic book which just happens to have a polar bear and then bam! The hiking group come across... a polar bear. In the jungle. Whaaaaat?! Speaking of, I thought they were all insane to go on that hike. I understand that someone had to go in order to try and get a signal but the fact that Shannon decided to go in a throwing of a fit moment and then a handful of others, I was baffled. No way would I have gone. But then Kate made a good point to Jack. "What makes you think were any safer here than the jungle?" Well yes, good point, but still, that thing has remained there thus far and the jungle provides so many hiding places where you could be picked off without notice. I like the spectrum of type of people. It's interesting to see them all work together. When Hurley was talking to Sayid asking where he learned to fix transceivers and Sayid said he was in the military, Golf War and Hurley tried to continue that moment of bonding by mentioning his buddy fought there what branch Sayid had been in only to find out Sayid was on the other side. Awkward for Hurley but surprising and interesting for me! I think Hurley took the spotlight on this ep for me. I really started to like his character from referring to Sawyer as a "Chain smoking jackass" to testing if the marshal was awake by shouting "Yo, a rescue plane! We're saved! Yay!.... Yah, he's out." Jin was definitely not winning points from me in this ep. I was not liking him, making Sun button that top button when Michael was trying to ask them if they've seen his son and then later, smacking Sun's hand when she tries to reach for a sea urchin. I did like her little act of defiance of unbuttoning that top button when he started walking away. So many great moments and quotes in this ep: Boone trying to get Shannon to help, yelling at her that she's actually given herself a pedicure. Sayid's reaction when Boone and Shannon are fighting after Shannon tells them she's going was hilarious! When Locke says "You're having a bad month" to Walt after Walt says his mom died two weeks ago. Then his whole speech about backgammon starts to show that this guy is more than what he seems. The whole scene with Jin and Claire, Claire forcing him to feel the baby move and Jin trying so hard to resist but then has that moment of "Oh!" before finally trying to yank his hand back again. Kate: "Where'd that come from?" Sawyer: "I don't know. Bear Village?" Kate: "Not the bear, the gun!" Kate: "Anybody know how to use a gun?" Charlie: "I think you just pull the trigger." We also have the start of Sawyer throwing out nicknames left and right. I think I'm going to start a thread just for those, lol! Can't wait for next Friday and the next two featured eps! Now I'm off to add some info to the Numbers and Symbolism threads.

I loved the second half even more as the first one. Well, actually they're just a complete perfection. I already used the five star rating, so I probably gonna use it for every further episode. I loved the scene when it came out that Kate was the prisoner! And on my first watching I remember that I was pretty flashed about it, as I'd never guessed her to be it. Btw I liked that in the flashback scene she, though next to her it was the man who seemed to took her prisoner, first put on the breathing mask on him. It's cool to hear those hints, Heidi. Like the one, that Kate did rub her wrists, when she first met Jack. It's awesome to rewatch a show and find something new in the episodes, you thought you already would know completely. And I thought the prisoner would be Sawyer too. Though I also thought it's actually what everyone would expect, wouldn't it? I also loved the scene, in which they realized how old the record at the transmittor was. I actually got goosebumps, when I heard the french voice repeating again and again, while Shannon was translating at the same time. And I liked that she was helping and useful for the others. I'm sure that her behavior will change in the further episodes. Oh man, actually I've watched some more episodes before, but don't remember everything. Well, not so bad, as it's like watching it as a first-viewer then. I agree with the spectrum of type of people! It's really awesome to see people working together, normally never would speak to each other. I also loved that dialogue between Hurley and Sayid. Has shown that they all were very different in their former lives, but now all are lost on the island together. Nothing else counting, but survive and getting rescued. I do like Hurley more and more. He's such a guy, I would like to hang up with. A Nerd like us lol. He's so kind to everyone and tries to help, even if he can't see blood while helping Jack with a patient. Omg, I can't stand Jin! I'm just waiting for Sun to give him back talk. Liked that little act of her defiance either. It's also interesting, that nobody understands them because of language differences. I could imagine a later scene, in which someone starts to teach her english... but this is just an imagination scene of mine, so no spoiler of course. But I'm curious if I'm right lol. Oh yah, I loved the scene, in which Claire feels her baby again and takes Jin's hand to make him feel it either. I like Claire, even if we don't know much about her yet. Well, maybe I have to think of Belle, when I see her. And the baby of hers and Rumpel's loool. I also like Locke. He's kinda mysterious for me and I'm looking forward to see his story! I liked the backgammon talk with Walt. I really can't wait for next friday and more of Lost! And above all can't wait to receive my Lost Complete DVD Box!!!

I love how they keep revealing the events of the crash in flashback form. That is really cool because each time it meshes with the one before it, i.e. charlie running past jack heading for the bathroom. Which leads me to my next comment. Sigh, oh charlie. Get your shit together man I was really hoping you'd be more... reliable lmao He's funny though I still like him!
That giant thing is creepy. I don't really know what I was expecting when I started watching but I wasn't expecting the island to be so... supernatural? and yeah that radio broadcast gave me goosebumps lol
The final holy crap from this episode was Kate's little flashback, then you find out who the doc was trying to save... BOM BOM BOOOOOOM. the next one should be interesting!
I think my favorites so far are, Jack, Kate, Charlie, and tiny from once upon a time (he's not so good with blood lmao!) I'll get his name eventually!

I'm so glad you two are enjoying so far and I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be watching and discussing in a group! Man, I really missed this!! Kevin, yup, there is definitely a supernatural vibe to the show! Supernatural, drama, suspense, science vs faith... A little bit of everything. Ilona, do you offhand remember any lines they altered in the German version you're watching? Totally curious and interested in how different cultures have different views and therefore a change to better effect the viewing quality for that culture.

I wasn't expecting the island to be so... supernatural? Medieval Kevin, out of curiosity, does the possibility of the show having supernatural aspects make you feel more, less, or the same interested in the show? Just asking because I remember so many people thinking it was just a straight-up drama about people stranded on an island and just dealing with what comes along with it. I remember them asking why everyone thinks that's so great and how it couldn't get boring after just a few eps and then I had to explain that it's about so much more than that. I'm actually so glad that you didn't get spoiled and know a bunch of stuff about the show. What I wouldn't give to experience it for the first time again! But while it was still airing so I can go through the between-season Lost interactive experience and massive groups of people talking about the show. Okay, I'm gonna need a neuralyzer and a time machine...

lmao yeah I am totally in the dark when it comes to this show and I'm glad! cause im not one of those people who can hear things and then forget. I'll be expecting so and so to die at any moment otherwise. But yeah I thought it was just a normal drama honestly. I think the strangest i heard was some conspiracy theory potential but never really thought about what kind. I had no idea about the supernatural and that excites me! I love that and the second I saw those really tall trees start to sway that night on the beach I was grinning lol

Ahh now I know where I remember Hurley from!! Thanks, Kevin! The guy, who's not so good with blood lol.. I looked up the quotes you mentioned in your comment. Those were the same, just translated. But I think I'll rewatch some scenes to tell you the nicknames Sawyer started to use for the others. I don't remember offhand. I'm glad the german versions usually aren't very different from the original. But sometimes on sitcoms a joke comes out as a little strange and then I switch to english language (if I own the DVD) and most of the time I am then like: "AHHHHHH! Well, that makes sense now!" It's because you can't translate jokes, which are based on the language or special words a language uses. Btw I also didn't know the show is supernatural, when I first started to watch it. After I realized, I was even more interested in it! Haha you guys know what? When I first heard people talking about it, I thought it would be a reality show, which sends people into the jungle and showing on camera how they get along with it, and how they probably fight each other xDD (There is a german reality show like this nowadays o.o). That was probably the reason I never watched the show, when it was first aired lol.
