Really? You thought it started lame? Lol, I thought the whole thing was quite good. To each their own though!

I have a feeling it's because Sawyer got some verbal abuse, lol!
I also noticed that they didn't start right off with the shot of an eye but with Charlie's hand playing the guitar. However, just seconds in, it goes into a closeup of both of Charlie's eyes and after a little internet research, I see people listing that as still qualifying but I'm not gonna put it on the official symbolisms list since it wasn't the very first thing we saw.
Charlie's confession was great! So funny and you could see the priest was speechless, lol! I think he looked as if he thought he was being punked which might be why Charlie quickly added that he's in a bad that's gaining fame. I would have loved to have seen what the priest told him to do. Perhaps "Hold on a moment, son. I need some paper and pencil to calculate how many Hail Mary's you should do..."
I also like that Sun stepped up a bit but not really that strongly. However, Jin didn't argue because she had a point; it was friggin' hot. I remember being mad at Jin for how he talked to and treated Sun but I also remember, especially after Sun's flashback ep, that I felt a bit sorry for him. Daniel Dae Kim (who plays Jin) does a great job of showing pain and regret in scenes where he's watching Sun from afar. I think he knows how he is but the question is, why does he keep on being that way?
As far as how Kate treated Sawyer, I can actually relate and think it's totally understandable. Ever since the crash, she and the others have been working hard to get rescued and to take are of each other and Sawyer's done nothing but get in the way, be a smartass, make everything way more complicated than it should be, played mind games, and generally jerk everyone around and sometimes at crucial times where they are strained for time. Lately, he's taken to leering at her while making inappropriate comments. Yes, it's entertaining to watch but put yourself in their position and especially Kate's position. Stuff like that is funny sometimes but if the person is non-stop that way and you cant get the simplest thing done without it becoming some big production every time, it can get frustrating and old.
I guess it's easier for me to understand since I play Kate in the Lost RPG and the last Kate post I made was the scene where Kate goes to ask him for a laptop battery so I had to put myself in her position. So maybe later on, when he went to tell her, she was too harsh but everyone overreacts sometimes. She still hadn't had a chance to recover from her last interaction with him. And boy did he get his childish revenge on that which so did not help him to get back on better terms with Kate, lol!
I think everyone had momentarily stopped because Charlie had gotten through and the tunnel had caved again. They needed to rest and regroup and with Kate showing up, she hadn't used any of the energy they already had lugging those heavy rocks out. As far as the moth helping Charlie and Jack out, the question is, was the moth really there or was it part of Charlie's withdrawal hallucination? If it was really there, it was most likely because moths are drawn to light and there must have been a very small hole where Charlie had started to dig upward. A little far fetched but maybe it was that, just a hallucination leading to sheer luck, or maybe in a strange way the island was helping them.
Locke has been eluding to the island being more than they realize. He said that the island would give Charlie something in return. Also, Locke could miraculously walk after the crash and Sayid mentioned to Kate how odd it was that they went cartwheeling through the jungle in the mid-section of a plane and were not only alive, but only had a few scratches. Definitely something weird going on.
Yes! Who the heck hit Sayid over the head and why?
Agreed. Liam (Charlie's bro) is definitely a self-centered jackass. He said whatever he needed to to get his way telling Charlie "You ARE bloody Driveshaft!" to get him to go on tour and when Charlie said it was time for them to walk away, told him "
I am Driveshaft! Nobody even knows who the sodding bass player is!" I understand you not seeing why that was enough to get Charlie to start using but once you see more of his past, you'll understand. What we can see from this so far is that Charlie was always looking out for his brother but nobody was looking out for Charlie. Like he said at the end to Liam, "It was always about the music!" but Liam had taken that away from him. He'd taken over Charlie's lines on their song and then told him that nobody knew who the bass player was. Liam made him feel insignificant and unimportant in the one thing that mattered most to him; music. And also, Liam said "If you're not int he band, what the bloody hell use are you?" and I think that that line was way more personal to Charlie than we realize. Obviously, he feels like he has no other use if not for the music and even with this, his brother has taken over his lines, pushing him to the background. Charlie actually IS the backbone of Driveshaft. He writes the music. He writes the lyrics. But as with all bands, it's the lead singer that gets all the fame and credit.
I also really love to hear Locke wax philosophical. He says some really great things sometimes, like the speech about helping the moth would actually be detrimental. "Struggle is nature's way of strengthening it."
The whole cave-in situation really formed a bond between Jack and Charlie. Jack became the big brother that Charlie always wanted and needed. He even said, "We have to look out for each other" which is what Charlie was always doing for Liam but Liam was not doing for him in return.
I also really liked Locke's three-times rule. It goes along with his comment about us being able to make choices is what separates us from them *points to boar then slits boar's throat*. Damn, Locke! Lol! I do also like that Charlie asked for it a third time only to throw it in the fire but I always joke about the fact that he threw it in the fire roasting the boar. Anybody for some heroin-smoked boar?

It did tie the ep together nicely as Charlie saw the moth flying up but the question is, was it really there or was it a heroin-withdrawal hallucination? Yes, Locke did look up when Charlie did but did he look up simply because Charlie looked up or did he also see the moth?
Oh, and I was so excited for our first introduction of Scott and Steve! Lol, it's a running joke. "Hey, uh, Scott?" "I'm Steve." "I'm Scott." Lol, poor guys, everyone always getting them mixed up.
Favorite quotes:Sawyer: I just thank the good Lord I got you here to keep reminding me.
(I was totally using this line on my mom who likes to remind me over and over about duh stuff!)
Sawyer: What is it about him that makes you all... weak in the loins?
(lol, classy!)
