AHHH! Do you have any idea how badly I wanna watch the next episode? That ending! That revelation! I gave the ep 5 stars. I wouldn't consider it one of the several phenomenals but a very good episode. It's the revelations and the feelings of excitement this stirred up in me as well as how badly it makes me just want to binge-watch the entire damn show!
I LOVED all the Charlie/Claire scenes! So sweet and Charlie has really endeared himself to me. I just realized that it seems he's doing MUCH better with his problem of withdrawals.
I also really liked the Jack/Kate scene toward the beginning. Kate seems to be relaxing and opening up more, though it almost seemed by accident when she mentioned a childhood memory with her mother. She looked uncomfortable vulnerable as if it had slipped out and she was preparing for an onslaught of questions regarding her mother and her childhood but Jack saw it and instead, went for a cheesy "sink your way off the island" joke. He seems to have a good read on the way Kate is and is making an effort to be careful in doing anything that would push her away.
The psychic reading scenes with Richard Malkin were so creepy. It's really neat that he seems to have the gift but the things he was seeing... Especially that part where he says he can't do this and gives her back her money. It's almost enough to make me never want to go to a psychic, just being afraid that something like that would happen!
The part where Hurley was telling Jack that it seems like people are getting attacked or punched or hit every day was really funny to those of us who were watching when it originally aired because it's what we'd been talking about. The writers often read what the fans were saying on message boards and you'll see some of the characters either comment on the same issues we raised or even crack a joke or make a funny comment on something the fan community was joking about. This is one of those examples. We'd all been joking about how it seems there were so many fights and made the funny drinking game of taking a shot whenever someone threw a punch so the writers had one of the characters address it.
Hurley is right, though. They don't know each other which would normally not matter if we were in a normal civilization but here in the wild, things are different. Claire thinks she's being attacked and what if she was? Whether it happened or not, it was about time they started establishing who was who and where they had decided to make camp; the caves or the beach. Not necessarily in order to police everybody but to also know when they should be concerned over someone. If someone goes missing because they randomly got hurt making their way through the jungle, how long would it take for anyone to realize if they don't even know where people are "living"?
Claire's boyfriend, Thomas, is a real douchebag. What a self-centered, immature ass. First he acts like he's excited and encourages her to keep the baby, saying they can do this but then he backs out, saying he's tired of everything being about the baby. Um, duh! Yes, when bring a child into this world, YOUR world becomes about that child! Seeing the way he is, leaving her actually was doing her a favor. He's definitely not parenting material and would probably have done more damage to the kid and their relationship than good.
That was crazy about the pens not working when Claire was trying to sign the adoptions papers. Superstitious or not, I think that would be a sign to anybody. One, okay, but TWO?
I was all excited that Locke was from Tustin, CA. That's one of my neighboring cities and one we've been to often for shopping or dining or whatever.
Ethan Rom was so totally creepy at the end! Just standing there, not saying anything and that look on his face! Then cut to credits. Gah!!! I remember how I was just dying to see the next episode! It was torture waiting, lol!
Favorite quotes/moments:Thomas: Okay, first of all these tests are not always accurate.
Claire: Thomas.
Thomas: No, no, no, my uncle he thought he had testicular cancer, remember that.
Claire: He did! He's dead!
Charlie: "Dear diary, still on the bloody Island. Today I swallowed a bug. Love, Claire."
Charlie: I think we could be friends. I could be your friend. We don't have to do each other's hair or anything. I just mean that if you needed someone to talk to about anything, I'm here.
Hurley: (to random castaway after rushing away after getting census info from Locke) Hey, uh, I know I already talked to you, but, uh, I just wanted to get away from him fast, okay?
Hurley: You'd think after a couple of weeks on the Island with the same people, we'd all know each other.
Ethan: Yeah, you're right. You would think so.
Shannon: You want my information. Name: Shannon Rutherford, Age: 20, Address: Craphole Island.
Shannon: I am so not moving to the rape caves!
Claire: Charlie, you don't know how to deliver a...
Charlie: Just listen to me. I'm not going to let anything happen to you. I might not know what I'm doing but I'll figure it out. If I can kick drugs I can deliver a baby. Let me explain. I'm a drug addict. I was a drug addict. I'm clean now.
Claire: Get Jack!
Sayid: We're not alone!
Hurley: One of them isn't in the manifest. He wasn't on the plane!
